The appearance of the store might not look good but their Chinese food tho is the best in town for sure! I also notice change of ownership the pass year. I have tried all the Chinese in town but Great Wall hibachi definitely hit the spot. I always get their sesame chicken and chicken mixed veggie add some tofu. Their beef egg roll, dumpling, chicken wing and chicken on stick are my go to appetizers. I do order a shrimp egg roll typically but my complaint is it only usually has about two shrimp for an egg roll the size of a hot dog. God I hate this place. I made the grave error of ordering for the second time after the first epic failure a few months ago. Took an hour and 15 minutes to deliver mediocre General Tso's chicken 15 blocks south of their location. Incompetence personified with a ratchet attitude to boot. I've ordered from Great Wall Hibachi a few times and had varying opinions. They need to change their name and remove 'hibachi' because their hibachi is awful. It's always greasy and unappetizing. I've had the chicken before which was fatty and I've had the steak before that was gray and flavorless. The vegetables are usually onions, zucchini and mushrooms and they're either overcooked or undercooked. I'll never order the hibachi from here again. That being said, I think their standard Chinese food is pretty decent. Luckily they didn't screw up sesame chicken, lo mein and egg rolls -- at least the past time I ordered. The good things are that this place is quick and cheap. You can order online which is always a plus, and there's always promo codes for their online ordering platform. There's parking out front for pickup. There are a few tables if you wanted to dine in although it's definitely not a very nice atmosphere. The best of the best (downtown, that is). I eat here several times a month and always love everything I get. Don't let the outside fool you, it is a solid Chinese/hibachi choice downtown. Our favorite dishes are the mandarin chicken, chicken hibachi, as well as wonton soup! The customer service is great. Everyone that works at the downtown location is awesome and helpful and friendly. Can't say enough good things about this spot. Their delivery is always fast and orders are always correct. It's been said before that they aren't as much of an authentic option but they are delicious and solid! Not one of those Chinese restaurants that makes you sick after you eat it. We order take out/delivery from here when we are confined to a hotel about monthly. Of course it's not authentic Chinese cuisine. But it's not bad Americanized take-out Chinese and the prices are tolerable. Portions are more than sufficient. Most of the fried foods are fried a touch hot so they get too hard. As is typical, almost everything has too much sugar. But it's typical - neither great nor terrible. If you're expecting in-country authentic or even Chinatown authentic then you'll be disappointed. This is the most disgusting Chinese food I've had in a while. Granted, I don't expect all of my Chinese food to taste like it's from China (very different from the American version), or even from China town in Downtown San Francisco (was literally a block from my studio apartment). In San Francisco, I've eaten some questionable Chinese at 3am from a very greasy tiny whole in the wall that was super popular. So, what didn't I like about this place? Every time I've ordered at work from here, it's always greasy. I didn't have anything to really go off of in the area until I had eaten from other places. The last meal (and final one ever) that I had from there was the sweet and sour shrimp combination. The shrimp were small, over breaded, fried too long (hard, greasy), and lacked any kind of normal taste. The fried rice, if you really allow yourself to taste it, tastes horrible (maybe like cardboard). Smothering it in soy sauce does not mask the poor taste. The spring rolls were small, undercooked in the center, correctly cooked on the outside, lacking filling. I'm not one who likes throwing food out, but halfway through, I tossed my meal. (I had to eat something because I was hungry). My coworkers were not at all impressed with their meals either: teriyaki chicken wings (sticky and very very messy), orange chicken: over cooked to the point of being hard (my coworker couldn't eat it because it hurt her teeth. I tried it and agreed that it was too hard and chewy: over fried). The oranges for garnish were canned, not fresh. Ok, so when I was in college, there was this place called the Golden Buda that had CHEAP, greasy Chinese. I'm talking super cheap (combo for like $3.55-4). The food wasn't gourmet, it was a greasy spoon. It was like Great Wall, but a step or two up as far as quality for food from GWE. The reason they got away with it is because the food is SO CHEAP! Here's what Golden Wall Express does: If you order from work with separate orders, EACH PERSON GETS CHARGED $1 each for "delivery and gas fee". So, for the 8 orders (some only ordered a $5 item), the driver collected $8. The total was only $40. Now, none of us knew that we were being charged such an exorbitant fee. I ended up leaving way more of a tip than I ever should've on a $7.55 meal. They basically got a 50% tip... NOT ideal. I don't normally yelp on work delivery, but my coworkers vowed to never order from this craphole again. Don't like being swindled. read more

Chicken on the stick when I needed something quick. I'm a poet and don't know it but my feet show it because they are Longfellows. Too much of a reach? Maybe but that chicken on a stick was only partially edible. Despite bad reviews I had to try this place out. It is super convenient to my apartment and I honesty thought, how terrible could it be? Right? Well the egg rolls are more like greasy spring rolls. This is the absolute worst Chinese food I've ever had. The chicken had the mouth feel of a rubber ball. They cover it in a sauce that is advertised to be Teriyaki but it had the viscosity of motor oil. It was as if they loaded up traditional Teriyaki with some sort of thickener like corn starch. Oh and the rice was foul. It was a flaccid mass of overcooked mush with the occasional dental-appointment-provoking rock hard kernel sprinkled throughout.
