The ramen soup exceeded every expectation -- and that's saying something, because the last time I had anything even remotely close was in Japan itself, where we spent an entire month traveling the country and immersed ourselves completely in Japanese food and culinary culture. The broth was impossibly milky and deeply flavorful -- the kind that stops you mid-bite. The ambiance and service were a complete and welcome surprise. We were visiting Charleston from St. Pete, and having traveled to many countries around the world, I rarely feel compelled to write reviews. But this place moved me. I'm not aware of Charleston as having any really high-end ramen, but this strip mall spot in suburban Mount Pleasant seemed to fit the bill. The do ordering at kiosks. Strangely, mine was brought to me packaged for takeout; I don't know why their in-house ordering would default to that but maybe I hit a wrong button? Maybe some room for process improvement there, but they didn't give me any trouble about transitioning to a dine-in bowl. Their vegetable ramen is promised with a citrus note and there were discernible little bits of yuzu in it. The tofu it comes with is marinated in something sweeter, which wasn't my favorite flavor combination but is typical to the cuisine. I found the flavor improved with tableside spices; they have both a black pepper mix and a house chili powder. The portion size was not huge, and even adding extra inari on the side just satisfied my cravings, and this was after I'd had breakfast. There were some Japanese-speaking people dining there who seemed to be slurping approvingly. We finally got to try out, the new ramen spot by Hachiya (yes the same restaurant that does Hibachi in, West Ashley), called Hachiya Ramen. Such a fun concept, the menu is so easy to understand, and the food is SO good and arrives fast! We made sure to order all 3-different ramens, you can order them a la cart or in different sets/combo that bring different sides like; karaage chicken, gyoza, pork buns, onigiri or edamame. For the ramen, I went with the Tonkotsu which comes with a pork broth, silky noodles, braised pork, green onions and a soft boiled egg - it was so good!! We also tried their veggie ramen, which came with a different veggie broth as well as the (med-spicy) tantanmen ramen, which were just as good. You can also add extra toppings too (any ramen) for an extra fee. Hachiya Ramen, is a fun place for a date or with a group of friends to experience a true Ramen meal. Wow! So amazed at this nee ramen spot! Finally, Charleston area has a new ramen place. Definitely one of the best broths I've had and the take home bowl for the broth comes in a big container. This place is my favorite ramen spot in the Charleston area. The menu isn't super big but I compare it to like in n out not many options but the flavor and aroma always hits! Staff is always super friendly and ask if you've been here before if they haven't seen you so they can help you with the kiosk, and I remember just going 3 or 4 times and they start to remember you! Let's see I'm about to walk in. Nice area, it's in a corner of the Publix parking lot very quiet. I see a group of about 6 people through the window good sign. It was just okay, the experience was more fun to me than the food. It's fun but bland. The broth is delicious, the noodles taste like chewing plastic. The portion was perfect, definitely could have saved some for later but I wanted to enjoy all of it in that moment. The service is welcoming and very hospitable. There's a punch card loyalty program as well - I love the old-school stamps vs downloading another app on the phone. When you walk-in there's a kiosk to which you order your meal to-go or in-house. I love the descriptions and visuals and don't feel rushed when making a decision. After you place the order, take a number and find a seat! There's lots of seating options: high tables, booths, regular tables for 2. The ladies room was clean, chic, and smelled great! There were tampons and pads which was a thoughtful touch plus a cleaning foam for the toilet seat. There's self-serve leftover bowels and utensils. I tried Hachiya Ramen for the first time tonight and I am so excited for this place to be in MtP. Having been to Japan I was really hoping for a somewhat authentic experience and delicious ramen. They have kiosks as soon as you walk in the door to take your order which was super easy to use. They describe each dish and allow for modifications if necessary. The food came out in minutes. The staff delivers it to your table and they are AMAZING. I order the set with spicy ramen, gyoza, rice and karaage (fried chicken). The ramen is amazing. The broth is tasty and full of umami. They also provide a house spicy oil/sauce if you'd like to add it. The gyoza was classic, but really good. The karaage comes with a nice tangy sauce and it's really moist flavorful chicken. Inside is clean and bright and lots of places to sit and they even have an outdoor patio on the side of the restaurant. It's a perfect atmosphere to sit and enjoy or they're happy to do take away as well. We watched several people come in, place and order and leave with their food under 5min. Myamino (I know I spelled that wrong and I'm SO sorry) came over to our table and gave us a rewards card and she was SO wonderful and kind. We will 1000% be back soon! read more

The employee who greeted us and talked us through ordering at the kiosk was friendly and professional, as were all the other employees we interacted with. The food was delivered to the table quite fast and was hot! I had the pork ramen in combination with the chicken karaage, gyoza, and onigiri so I could try a little of everything. The ramen was quite plain, with just noodles, pork, an egg, and scallions in a tasty broth, but you did have the option to add many different items for an extra few dollars each. The chicken karaage was very tasty, and I enjoyed the sauce that came with it. I wish the gyoza had been just steamed and not seared on one side, but the flavor was good. The tuna mayo onigiri was delicious as well. The decor was nice, and I liked that the restaurant had set out all of the to-go containers to pack up your own leftovers.
