Yes, finally had the pleasure of eating 2 Nixons ramen while they were at a local brewery. Love that this location had it's indoor kitchen that they let food trucks and pop ups serve, like this Friday night. The menu tonight had 3 appetizers, and 2 main ramen dishes. We ordered the chicken Yakitori and then 1 each of the ramen dishes. The chicken Yakitori was made up of 4 small bites of tender chicken with a mild sauce. I wanted more. But then the ramen bowls showed up and we were amazed at the colorful beauty of the ingrediants. One was smoked turkey neck ramen and the other was roasted sunchoke ramen. The broths in each were so rich and tasty, but the vegetables atop the ramen made the whole combination spectacular. Both bowls had malted mushrooms, sweet corn, egg and then more. I was so glad to enjoy their ramen this night, it was more than what I expected. The only negative I dare speak were the prices, I just thought at $15 & $16.50 per bowl they were slightly over priced. But I understand, as that goes with the concept & uniqueness of what 2 Nixons brings to the food world. Plus they attempt to utilize local farms for their food sources. Good food! Follow them on FB to find their next pop up. Then GO!

Ramen with pork belly, sweet corn, egg, pickles, scallion. So good

Their ramen game is on point! I was so excited to find them at Charles Towne Fermentory and the plan was to get the ramen and the smash burger. The ramen was amazing. I loved the broth and the fixins. The corn is a great additional because it adds sweetness and crunch. I had to keep yanking the spoon out of manfriend's hand. My only complaint was that I wanted more. Manfriend is into burgers so he was excited to try the smash burger. Not sure why it's called that and I'll have to ask next time. The burger was good, but it didn't make me want to order it again. Not sure if that's because the ramen is top notch or if the burger was just blah. I will say the bun was really soft and really good which is important! On a recent trip, we tried chicken yakitori and Brussels along with two bowls of ramen. The yakitori was tender and had a good flavor. However, $7 a pop was steep for me. I'm glad I tasted it, but I doubt I try it again. The Brussels were a mixed bag for the table. I thought they were tasteless except for the kick of the spicy. Others thought they were great. I won't order again. I'll be back to order all the ramen I can slurp down!

Their famous ramen! Broth was super flavorful

I had the pleasure of tasting some of 2 Nixons dishes at their pop up at Craft Conundrum a few weeks ago and the food was phenomenal. You can tell Chef Jeffrey is very passionate about his dishes and he does a great job of explaining the process that goes into each one. He explains how much time and love goes into every ingredient, so it just makes you drool before you even eat! The first dish I tried was the tempura late summer squash. Apparently they do different variations of tempura depending on the season, and the summer squash was just perfect. Their yuzu mayo had a bright citrus flavor that really complemented the tempura. One of 2 Nixons signature dishes is their ramen. The variety of pickled and fresh vegetables made for interesting pops of flavors and textures. The broth was very rich and definitely complex. If you're looking for comfort food, this ramen definitely fits the bill! Last, but certainly not least, I tried the Squeeze Burger. The simplicity of this burger is the reason why it shines. The cheddar is perfectly melted, the meat is juicy, and the sauce is the perfect complement to the burger. I would get this burger over and over again! Keep your eye on their instagram so you can find out where they will pop up next! It's a must-try and a fun way to mix up your normal restaurant routine.

Cherries and strawberries macerated in bourbon and house cream cheese whip

This food was life changing. Okay, maybe not so much, but it is definitely up there in my top 5 all time food experiences here in Charleston. And that's saying a lot when we are so fortunate enough to have such a great food scene. I started with the grilled lobster and nduja butter yakitori and dear lord was that the best lobster I have ever had in my life. Not even exaggerating. I wanted about 10 more skewers. It was worth every penny for something so delicious. The entree of the night was blue crab ramen with pork belly, pickled tomatoes, pickles, and a soft boiled egg. I wanted about 5 bowls of that. The noodles were perfect and the pork belly was so flavorful. The blue crab broth was just phenomenal and the egg made it all so creamy. To be honest, I don't even typically like house pickles (it's weird, I know) but I loved these ones! And don't get me started on the dessert, cherries and strawberries macerated with bourbon and a house made cream cheese whip. Ugh! I don't think I can ever eat grocery store bought cream cheese again; it was that good. Anyway, don't miss out on this pop up or you'll regret it!

Delicious ramen! I had 2 Nixons while they were serving at Craft Conundrum in West Ashley. I ordered the turkey and bacon miso ramen: confit pork shoulder, Abrose farms eggs, malted mushroom, sweet corn, aged bamboo, and collards. I ordered the ramen mild, not spicy. The portion was huge and delicious. The chef was kind and provided great service. The only suggestions I have for improvement would be to use a little less salt in the broth and have forks available for those like myself who have no hand dexterity for chopsticks.

Caught them at Craft Conundrum! Super nice, and they brought it inside for us to eat with our beer. (Mazemen 4.5 stars): with pickled mushrooms, cucumber, corn, scallions, radish, and runny egg. Perfectly chewy noodles. Refreshing and savory all at once. Bonus, it's veg! We were going to get second dinner so only got 1 ramen but wanted to try their broth, which they were nice enough to let us try! Chicken miso based, with a depth of funk from maybe seaweed or mushrooms? Really addictive and perfect for the weather.

Their ginger/shittake ramen was ON POINT!! I'm a huge fan of their food. I had a saffron broth ramen once and I MISS IT!!! Looking forward to an oyster ramen that they're thinking about doing, that I hope they do!!

    Shiitake ramen bowl

I've heard about these guys for a while and finally had their food at a pop-up dinner at craft conundrum last Saturday. Best ramen I've ever had in charleston and I might be insta-addicted! I ordered the shiitake mushroom ramen bowl. It was warm, flavorful, and packed full of all the goodies (carrots, egg, red peas, kimchi, corn) The noodles are obviously homemade and super fresh and doughy. Apparently they are at craft conundrum on Wednesdays and Saturdays and at Two Blokes on Fridays.

    Grandma style tori Parian ramen.

I've traveled abroad in Asia several times and love me some good hearty ramen bowls. The best thing about ramen is you can go ultra fancy or good old hearty classical and it works. So 2 Nixons is on the higher end of the spectrum. This last trip we had the grandma (picture submitted) and the ginger shiitake mushroom (which is vegetarian). Grandma's had pork belly, little mushroom slices, lightly pickled tomatoes and cucumbers. My wife's ginger shiitake was prepared similarly, but minus the pork belly. Her ramen was very earthy and wholesome. I honestly preferred her bowl over mine, but they were both delicious. So I have nothing to complain about with 2 Nixons except for maybe the price. It is a little on the high side, but with the quality of the ingredients, the preparation and presentation. That makes this little bowl of awesomness totally worth it. I'll see you guys back at Proof really soon!

Can't get enough of this mix of Maryland and Japanese cooking! The crabs we had to today at Bowen's Island were phenomenal. Looking forward to the next pop up event!

Before before getting to the food, the space was inviting and had a lot of cool touches. And the service was great! My wife, youngest, and I shared a number of plates. Some of the first include included the Kinilaw, the Lumpia, and the Laing. The Kinilaw is a yellow tuna dish. The tuna melted in your mouth and the flavors from the coconut-leche dressing, ginger, and jalapeño, as well as the fresh mint, added to the flavor palette. I didn't try the Lumpia because it is skinny spring rolls made with ground pork. My wife and youngest said they were great in really enjoyed the taste. The Laing was a vegetable dish involving creamy brace kale with garlic, ginger, and coconut milk. Of course it sounds different and it was, but in a really good way. Again, the way the flavors worked together was really great. The last dish we got was the Curry. It is grilled red snapper with braised, mung beans, tempura sweet potatoes over coconut red curry sauce and rice. It was so good. Again, the flavors in this dish were amazing. The fish was cooked just right. And the way the dish worked together was a piece of culinary art. They also had cool cocktails, good beers, and even mocktails for our teenager. Our experience at Kultura was better than we even expected from looking at the menu online. If you find yourself in Charleston, do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Everything was flavorful and beautifully balanced, and we left feeling completely satisfied. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it.

We made a reservation, but ordered at the counter. We ordered a handful of dishes to share. The girl was very helpful and giving us a separate gluten-free menu that allowed us to order for my husband. This place is a Latin/Asian infusion so we were very excited to see how the flavors played out since it is two of our favorite types of food. The best thing I had was the special, stir fried udon noodles with the steak. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the chili spice on it was amazing and it wasn't overly sauced. The steak that accompanied it was also delicious. The tomato cucumber salad was fresh, but could've used a little more salt in my opinion. The bao bun and tacos were also nice and great portions. I would say for me I didn't love the pad Thai in comparison to the many that I've had before, because it was a bit different in flavor profiles than what I'm used to. I wanted a little bit more of the fish sauce and tamarin flavor. You have to get their milkshakes, I'm sure all of them are great. But the one we have was absolutely decadent and delicious! We had more than enough food, and ended up taking a lot of it home. They were multiple people helping us, and they were all very nice and friendly. I'm coming back for the udon noodle dish!
