I was excited to try Katsubō after hearing good things, and while there were definitely some highlights, my overall experience landed somewhere in the middle. First, the atmosphere is really cool. The anime-inspired décor, Japanese lanterns, neon signs, and quirky artwork give the restaurant a fun, laid-back vibe. Waited a little bit though for service but on a Saturday could have been attributed to weekend tourism. We started with the gyoza, which was probably my favorite part of the meal. They were nicely seared with a crispy bottom and paired well with the dipping sauce. The entrées were good but didn't quite wow me. The loaded waffle fries were unique and delicious, and the spice was a bit much for me but hubby and daughter loved it. The burger and chicken sandwich were just okay considering the hype. Overall, it's a solid place with a great vibe, and I'd come back to try the ramen next time.

My family and I came here last night for dinner and had an okay experience. We had reservations and were immediately sat when we arrived, but there is no parking at the restaurant. We found parking on the side of the road across the street at the park. We had a very strange experience with our waitress, she would come to the table and not say anything. She didn't introduce herself either. Favorites: spicy cucumbers + spicy bao + Tokyo Shoyu (really liked the flavor of the broth) Wouldn't order again: okinomiyaki + spicy tantanmen Vibe was very cool in this place, but probably won't be back.

I've been to Katsubo several times. With the latest menu switch, I do believe they have found the sweet spot. The ramen is fantastic, they have some awesome rice dishes and appetizers. I really enjoy the gyoza and tuna tartare. If you're looking for a drink, I recommend the Japanese Slipper or trying the sake flight. Service is great as well. Food comes out quickly and the staff is friendly. If you're in Park Circle, this is an easy stop in, but definitely worth driving to as well.

A great place to have ramen. I had the Chicken Tokyo Shoyu and it was tasty. I've had the Spicy Miso before and it's equally delicious. Their Classic Bao, Edemame, and Pickled Cucumbers make great appetizers. Wash it all down eith some Saki or one of their specialty drinks and you are good to go! The service is great and they can handle large parties. Be sure to check them out!

New restaurant for me. I love spices. And the food has ALL the SPICE. New experiment trying BAO BUNS. Got 3 of them 2 chicken and ones with kimchi and a fried chicken tender in it. The star I took away was for bringing me a pork BAO bun when I specifically said I don't eat pork. They got it together and even served an extra ice cream sandwich even though it wasn't all that good to me. Somebody else might like it. Too sweet for me. But it was free.

The servers were very polite and the Ramen I had was actually really good. My only complaint was at the music is kind of loud and was a little overwhelming while trying to have conversation in the restaurant. Will be coming for the food again.

Kid friendly! Food was fresh and tasty. Lots of umami flavor. My toddler was happy eating the ramen noodles and chicken chopped up and the gyoza. The curry had a nice classic curry flavor and the pork was cooked very well - nice and tender. The miso broth was delicious. I took one star off for cleanliness. I wish the floors and booth were just a tad cleaner. Overall, would recommend and go back for a second time.

Stopped by after work and noticed it was pretty empty for a Thursday night. Nevertheless, the service was great and I was tended to immediately. I opted for the spicy tantanmen with chicken. To be completely honest, it was just okay. It wasn't spicy at all, it lacked seasoning, and the noodles were on the thicker side. It had potential for sure, but unfortunately, this wasn't my favorite.

I've dined in and picked up takeout at Katsubo and have to say I'm obsessed with their crispy fried chicken. That comes as no surprise since Katsubo has roots going back to the folks that owned Kinfolk in Johns Island (which I miss dearly). So far I've only had the soy garlic flavor which is excellent, but I would like to try the others. I just heard they're doing $1 wings on Wednesdays now so that would be the perfect time to try them all. When dining in, we also shared an order of okonomiyaki and a ramen as well. The okonomiyaki was different compared to others I've had in the past, but tasty in its own right. I would like it a little crispier on the grill I think. The ramen broth had deep flavor and the noodles had a nice bouncy texture. Don't forget to check out the cocktails too... the Katsubō Fashioned was my favorite.

Found this place while I was looking for a quick dinner before leaving airport and driving up to Aiken. The cucumber was so flavorful especially with the chili crunch. Love it! The Curry Plate has two huge pork loin breaded with panko powder. It was over-fried and turn slightly brown (instead of golden). The combination of shredded cabbage, carrots, potatoes and curry created a great dish. I would have given it a 5-star if the pork was not over-cooked. Definitely coming back for more if I am in town again.

Perfect place to visit on a rainy evening. What could be better than a huge (HUGE) bowl of Ramen?! Service was great, immediately seated and greeted. Waiter was helpful in the questions we had. Settled on the potsticker style appetizer (amazing) and we each ordered different types of ramen. Arrived quickly. Missing a star bc I ordered additional mushrooms and an egg to be added to my ramen and neither were, sadly. Will be back again. Please note the venue is small and cozy!!

Katsubo is a gem in Park Circle. I ordered the Tantanmen Pork Ramen - the broth was rich, creamy, and perfectly spicy, layered with chili heat that didn't overpower but lingered just right. The pork was tender with crispy edges and the noodles had a perfect bite. The vibe inside is cool, clean, with fun Japanese pop culture touches that make it feel vibrant but not overdone. The service is quick and friendly with the whole menu being affordable. Definitely need to come back to try their fried chicken!

Usually when I pay this much for ramen I'm annoyed because the ramen itself is OK but not so great to justify this kind of price. The ramen here was really good. I had the Yuzu Shio and everything had a nice fresh taste and the noodles were springy not mushy. The pork gyoza and pickled daikon starters were outstanding. The kids had chicken tenders and fries and the Haikkaido Miso and liked them. They also had ice cream sandwiches which were MASSIVE and they loved but it was just too much for them. My server Eris was friendly and quick. Good place all around! Only knock on it is the somewhat limited menu. J.Ja

Strangely, mine was brought to me packaged for takeout; I don't know why their in-house ordering would default to that but maybe I hit a wrong button? Maybe some room for process improvement there, but they didn't give me any trouble about transitioning to a dine-in bowl. Their vegetable ramen is promised with a citrus note and there were discernible little bits of yuzu in it. The tofu it comes with is marinated in something sweeter, which wasn't my favorite flavor combination but is typical to the cuisine. I found the flavor improved with tableside spices; they have both a black pepper mix and a house chili powder. The portion size was not huge, and even adding extra inari on the side just satisfied my cravings, and this was after I'd had breakfast. There were some Japanese-speaking people dining there who seemed to be slurping approvingly. I could imagine having had a better experience, but the quality of broth and noodles was worth coming for me.

I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me.
