I was driving down 183 heading south bond, and thought my engine was over heating. I Pulled on and into the closest gas station possible. Thankfully it was Great Hills Shell. They not only could they help me, they wanted to help me. They answered all my question, but what I do not see in a lot of repair shops or even retail sales stores is when you are asking a question and not quite sure where to go with it. They don't guess and tell you a random answer, they ask question to make sure they know exactly what is being asked. They were very helpful, quick, and just all around texas friendly. My 80-year-old Mom's wipers went out on 183 in the middle of a huge downpour and she couldn't see a thing and just followed the white line in the street and the first exit took her right to this place. How she even made it, I'll never know, but I'm glad she did. She was pretty shaken up and Dale couldn't have been nicer to her while she waited for me to pick her up. He even said he would stay with her past closing if I didn't get there in time. He had to replace the wiper gear assembly and motor and he had it ready the next afternoon!! Thanks Dale!! read more

We usually use them for regular car maintenance. Last week we noticed that the cap on the engine coolant was missing on my wife's car. We took it there and they replaced the cap and topped off the engine coolant for free. Very nice people with high integrity. They stay behind their work. My sister has been taking her truck to Great Hills Shell and I thought it might be too expensive. I just moved here and had been taking my car to Walmart in WA state. We went by the one on 620 and sat there for 15 minutes and they were busy with other customers and never even said We'll be with you shortly. To make a long story short we went to Great Hills. The service was absolutely wonderful. Personal, friendly and informatively. I was very impressed and it didn't cost me any more that Walmart for an oil change. These guys are great! I've been going here for almost 10 years now, and every time I go I get the best service. I've had a lot of work done on my car, and each and every time the work was done with efficiency and excellence. The quotes they give don't change if I have to go back another day for repairs, and they are always polite and answer any questions I have. One time I didn't have my cell with me. The work was going to take a few hours, and they even let me use their business phone and kept a line open for me so I could arrange a ride to and from work. These people blew me away. I'm a rip-off waiting to happen-limited knowledge of car, totally dependent on it. My problem started suddenly and completely disabled my vehicle. it took a while to find. It was the week before New Years Eve. Brad the service manager and his crew worked hours they should have been at home to get it running again. He explained every step. He kept to his promised schedule and called immediately if there was any delay, or any change in the plan. So they were great to work with and knew what they were doing, but then on top of it they did something i never thought possible. They took responsibility. On the way to discovering the real problem the battery ran down. They replaced it at no charge because they reasoned that it wouldn't have happened if they'd gotten the problem sorted out faster. I had knowledgeable friends at a distance who I checked with every step of the way on repairs and prices and they too gave them a thumbs up. They put in extra hours to get me on the road again and at the same time did not cut corners. Brad talks to you like you're an intelligent human being, which i really appreciate, since my ignorance was showing a mile away and many others would have just given me the basics and told me to trust them. I found it easy to work out financial terms as well, which was very important since i was unemployed and the repairs ended up costing 3 or 4 times higher than I anticipated. I wish there was a sixth star. I'm writing this review from the Great Hills Shell waiting area. Over the last 16 years, Bob and his team have serviced three of my vehicles for a combined 500,000 miles. My only regret is that it took me this long to write a review. I like my cars. I take care of my cars. I have old cars that require repairs and the last thing I want is a car payment. Simply put, there is not a more honest, trustworthy maintenance facility anywhere. Period. Could I get work done elsewhere for less? Maybe. Would it be done right? Maybe. Is it worth it to find out? No way. The value of walking into a place and being greeted by name (Every. Single. Time.), and the peace of mind associated with the knowledge that I am being told the truth and that my repairs are done correctly is worth far more than the few bucks I *might* save. Great Hills Shell has earned a lifetime of loyalty from me. They EARNED it. How many places do you do business with that earn anything at all from you other than dollars? I own a beautiful Burnt Orange 2002 Camaro. When I bought it at a significant discount in San Antonio, and drove it back up here to Austin, I already knew that it was having power issues and that it would need a little TLC. The first place I took it (Lambs on Jollyville) not only replaced the wrong parts, but didn't even come close to fixing the problems. So after dropping $1000 at Lambs, a friend recommended Great Hills Shell. Brad, the service manager and I are now on a first name basis. He figured out exactly what was wrong with the car, gave me a discount to fix it, provided warranty service on the parts for free, and just did an all around great job. I payed about what I expected, and got great performance out of the car. I will never go anywhere else for service as long as these guys continue to provide the type of customer service that they do, and perform the quality care that they have for my Camaro. read more
