This Costco Gas is one of the better gas stations with top tier gasoline and the best prices in the area. I've found their gas to be cheaper and of better quality than Sam's Gas. They've really streamlined the process at this location. It's easy to get in and out, and the lines move pretty quick. I went about an hour after lunch today. From getting in line to pulling out of the gas station, took about 5 minutes. There was a long line to get into the Costco area though but that traffic was from people who wanted to shop at Costco. I do wish that they had led indicators to let you know when a space is available cause it's not always apparent. But I've only seen those indicator lights where each lane has 3 stalls instead of just 2 at this location. All in all, I'll continue to return here for all my gas needs. Not an easy gas station to get to so I check the hours on Google maps and it say it's open 6-10 on Labor Day so I went, I a bit of a long distance away so I was counting on it with really low tank, and they were closed. After driving 2.5 hours between Houston and Austin, I needed a gasoline fill up. I searched "Costco Gasoline in Austin" and hopes that this gasoline station was close to the airport where I was to return the car. It seemed to work out because I wasn't charged for extra gasoline... Whew! Thank goodness! I recommend Costco Gasoline. But reason for the check in is to share some common sense, and make people aware that they have long hoses you park either side and fill so don't make one line longer. Also they have two or three in a row for a reason, move forward if the front one is empty, so that two cars can fill at the same time. :) read more

I don't know how you cannot give Costco Gas a 5-star review. I mean it's great. It's not perfect, but pretty dang close. Basically you get gas discounted as part of your Costco membership, and for me that's cool beans since I get premium gas. The other day it was $1.74 range, and a week before it was $1.91 range, and it's been under $2 for the past several weeks - while other gas stations are over 2 bucks a gallon. They also recently upgraded their payment system - so you just wave your Costco CC across (instead of sticking it into a slot) and it asks if you want a receipt - this cuts down some time and improves the overall experience. There are 8 lanes (I think) open - so there's plenty of access. The weekends are always busier - so beware of that. Some people are impatient and cannot wait for the single car to finish - so they skip over it which throws off the streamlined queuing process, but hay - that's not Costco's fault. There's always an attendant around to answer questions or help you out, and they also immediately clean up any spillage that occurs - and I've never seen that type of service at any gas station. Now - for you people who just love the gas station experience, even though you do get a discounted rate here (you must be a member, and it's around 7-10+ cents cheaper gas), there will be some drawbacks for you: - there's no bathroom - no window washing stations w/ dirty water and raggedy squeegees - there's no convenience store to stock up on air fresheners, phone chargers, lottery tickets, snacks and drinks and coffee or sugary crap you don't really need - there's no air filling station (go to Discount Tire for that - it's free) - the prices are cheaper here than what you normally would (over)pay - but if you're the type that just likes to overpay - well just make an attempt to tip the attendant - or buy someone else's gas while they're there. You just wait your turn, get out, swipe the card, push a button, select your gas, pump and go, and enjoy the savings. It's really that simple here. If you do not like to wait in lines and feel like driving more - the Pflugerville Costco Gas Station is likely a better bet. More stations, less lines, but it's farther away. I wish the 290 Costco location had gas but oh well, it's all good here at Research Blvd. read more

Besides being consistently one of the cheapest, especially for premium gasoline, Costco gas is also Top Tier, and is always a nicer experience compared to a normal gas station This particular location has a big issue with the way they designed the entry to the pumps though (single entry), so it ends up being more inefficient and with a longer wait than the cedar park location. read more

Costco has good gas at competitive prices. The employees are so nice and helpful. There employees clean up the pumps frequently. If there is a spill, they are on it. I have seen them close the pump, clean the machine, ground, and whatever else has spilled gas. The only drawback to gas are the lines. The lines can wrap outside the gas entry. Some customers can be Rude cutting lines. Some are inconsiderate sitting in their cars while a line is waiting behind. Tip: come early in the morning or around 4pm the lines are dead. read more

Not much to be said about Costco gas. I think anyone that's lived in Austin for a year already knows about Costco gas. Gas prices are pretty cheap, and the cash back bonus you get back is a handy plus. You'll need to have a Costco membership card to use the gas pumps, but might as well use the card while you're at it. If you want to miss the lines, then I highly suggest you come anytime except weekend afternoons and just afternoons in general. Costco gas - members only. The gas here is generally at least .10 (if not .20 sometimes) cheaper than other places and usually worth stopping here. The lines can look intimidating, but the pumps are two-deep and there's a passing lane in between so one doesn't have to wait for the vehicle in front of them to leave. Also, the hoses are super long, so it doesn't matter which side your tank door is on. Just look for the shortest line, and patiently wait. read more

The line moves fast and the prices are just unbelievable for the supreme unleaded fuel here. They are consistently 40 cents cheaper than the gas station down the street. If you have a tank that roughly holds about 20 gallons of gas then the savings are phenomenal. The process of getting the gas is also a lot easier than I had previously suspected. You pull up to the pump, swipe your Costco card, swipe your credit card, and then the rest is as usual as you would follow the instructions at any other pump. On average I measures the wait to be around 2-3 minutes so that also isn't as bad as it may seem when you drive by and see the lines here. Love it! read more

If you can stop by here either early in the morning before Costco opens or in the last hour before closing, the Costco gas station is a great deal. The gas prices are usually around 15 - 20 cents cheaper than gas stations in the area. Coming during peak Costco store shopping hours will require patience because there's often a line. During the "Austin Gas Shortage of 2017," they usually had gas while most other stains didn't and directed the long line of cars around is parking lot in an orderly fashion. The gas pumps have very long hoses so you can drive to any pump regardless of which side of the car the gas tank cap is on. The gas quality is Top Tier and my car runs fine on it. The area is neat and well-maintained because there is an employee overseeing the gas station at all times. The payment kiosk has red tape to let you know if it's been tampered with. With the gas station being constantly monitored, customers have less worry about credit card skimmers. read more

This is what I'm talking about. Cheapest gas in town, period. When I'm here, I don't ever have to think about whether or not I could be getting gas for less anywhere else. I don't even worry about the quality of gas that I'm getting because I trust Costco. I haven't done the math - but if fill up your car a few times a month at Costco, I'm pretty sure the savings would pay for your membership. Can someone run the calculations and validate this hypothesis please? There are only two knocks on this place: First, over the weekend the lines get crazy. Secondly, some of the customers don't know that the hoses are long enough to reach to the opposite side of your car. You don't have to wait for a pump that is on the same side of your gas tank. It annoys me when I see like 8 cars lined up for a pump on the same side of the gas tank, while other pumps are available for them to use and this causes a bottleneck. C'MON MAN! I was SO excited to renew my Costco membership with a GroupOn. I had went inside, renewed it, gotten dog treats. I figured I would get gas, no problem. Guy in front of me is on a motorcycle getting gas. I pull behind him. I was not planning on getting very much gas, just enough to get me home. I was unaware that my right front tire was over the line. The "bearded wonder" comes out, looks around my car and then scolds me that I am over the line. He says, "Next time, make sure you pull closer to the pumps when you get gas." in a condescending tone. I respond, "Sure. Whatever." I am am a little miffed that the "bearded wonder" would even give me grief about me being over the line. I sarcastically respond back to him, "Well, if they were getting gas, they would have to get behind me anyway and would not have to worry about going around." He walks away without saying a word. If I wanted attitude and grief just because I got gas, I would have gone to the other Buy in Bulk place. Heck, the last time I went there I went the wrong way just to I could get in line to get gas and even went the wrong way out. Did they scold me? No. Did they give me grief? No. If this is the level of customer experience I am going to get a Costco, I am better off not renewing my membership. I have seen some that are the same price but I only fill my car up at Shell or Costco just as personal preference. I love costco ;)! Betcha didn't know that costco is the best place to buy jewelry. I've compared cuts & clarity with high end jewelry stores and costco is a no brainer! Unless of course the name Tiffany, and zales suits you more~so be it. I've noticed if you're shelling out a boatload in the thousand range for a ring, the appraisal value is 2x the selling cost at costco. As for the smaller diamonds/prices, you're saving 10% off the appraisal worksheet. I did however exchange a platinum diamond ring, and it was such a hassle free experience. They simply gave me a store gift card so I can repurchase the same exact ring at another costco since they did not have a sec one in stock.
