I would give zero stars if I could. Waste of $17,000.
Especially when you bought a new house and you gave them the house to start working in (before you even moved in).
Save yourself a lot of trouble and stress and mental anguish, and do not buy anything here. Now we're stuck with floors that are not leveled and a few areas that have laminate that are separating... and what was supposed to be scratch resistant (did not get scratched up by my dog), was scratched by pushing dining room chairs into their place with the table?
The first set of contractors they sent over were very quick, minus the sexual-harassment and attempted massage from one of them. I ignored it and just decided to stay away from my home (when they were working during the week) and I didn't tell my partner until after they were done (because I didn't want to slow the process of getting our floors done) ....because I knew if I said something then he wasn't going to allow the floors to be finished. Then later, I find out that our 16-year-old also felt uncomfortable around the same guy and complained to us. We did report that to the store.
Besides that....We noticed immediately after the floors were installed that when walking around the kitchen island, the floors would sink. Probably a couple inches down to where you could see it separate from around the island. I complained immediately and they sent a different set of contractors out to fix the unloved floors, but they only fixed the area around the kitchen island. There are other areas in the dining room/living room that sink when you walk over the flooring and there's an area in front of the fireplace that is too high (to where it feels like there is a hill that you are walking up). Also, when you are walking throughout the house (depending on the weather outside), quite often you hear the sticky pads that are underneath the Mohawk laminate flooring. It almost sounds like a sticker is attached to the bottom of your foot in it un-sticks and re-sticks every time you take a step downstairs.
I did complain about the small area of scratches on the floor and the lady who had helped us there conversed back-and-forth a couple times, and then she just stopped responding. We had even stopped back in person to talk about this, and she said she would get back to us and never did.
We also had carpet installed upstairs. The carpet started showing wear pretty quickly on the stairwell. I had specifically asked about that for this carpet, and was told it was a good quality and wouldn't show wear quickly and had some sort of warranty. Before installation, I had mentioned some areas that squeak underneath the old carpet to the contractors replacing it, and asked if it could be addressed before laying new carpet over it. The carpet was replaced, but it was never checked out. I called the sales lady at great floors (will keep her name private) who had helped us to let her know, and they sent someone else out who pulled the carpet back up and put nails into the flooring instead of screws (in the few areas we had wanted addressed before the carpeting was installed), and rather quickly the nails popped up and the floor boards started squeaking again.
There were more issues, but I won't continue on.... Except to mention how the baseboards were ripped up and broken and the contractors literally just put them back like that after doing the flooring. In some areas -pieces were put back together (like a treehouse, after a tornado), and stapled back along the baseboard line. I couldn't believe somebody would do work like that, and we instantly regretted taking away the hardwood flooring from the front door for this crap work.
So what I'm basically wanting people to know is... Please don't waste your hard earned money here. You could go somewhere else for a better price and get quality work.
I don't get that mentality of... "Well, this can't happen to me" because it surely can.
Oh, and before I forget.... They decided to do some of their "sawing" inside of our garage and house and blew saw dust everywhere. Then they moved outside and the entire back siding of our house and windows was covered with dust. We had to clean this off our house ourselves. We also had to have our air ducts cleaned after that, and I did ask the company to at least reimburse us for half the cost after I had the vent company take images showing sawdust in the heat ducts. We were breathing in sawdust after these floors were put in, and we finally got to the point where we just gave up with this company and realized we were just gonna be stuck with the worst workmanship and company manners ever.
Maybe we'll save up enough money in another 10 years to have the floors redone?
