Kellie and Mike are amazing owners and did everything they could to make me happy. They had to rip out existing carpet in my townhome and refloor 3 stories of flooring. They were easy to work with and honest, and Mike himself did a great job dealing with my out of level subflooring. As one might expect, this work wasn't without its surprises and issues but Kellie and Mike handled the issues we ran into with grace and efficiency.

I want to let other readers know that this is a wonderful floor service. When I left my initial voice mail inquiry, Kelly called me back within minutes and 24 hrs later, Mike met me at the job site and answered my questions and made recommendations. Both Kelly and Mike were like meeting with old friends. They made the entire planning process easy and simple. Quote was reasonable and fair. I am certain quality of their work will be every bit as good as the planning process. Will update my review when we finish. So far...extremely happy. Thanks Kelly, Thanks Mike

Responsive and helpful. Job finished much earlier than expected and floors look great.

Hardwood floor installation estimate without price breakdown

I gave this rating for two reasons. One is the low quality job they have done and the other is the ridiculous charges when things went wrong. We had a very bad water damage incident that ruined our hardwood floor in the kitchen. The job was to repair the subfloor and install the new hardwood floor. Mike did the estimate and touted he's had many years of experience installing hardwood floors. Based on the good reviews here we decided to give them a try. They sent two young guys to our house and started working on the subfloor. Mike didn't even show up to give any instructions. I had to tell them what needed to be done. After they understood the scope of the project, one of them told me Mike's estimate for the subfloor repairing was not enough. They contacted Kellie and she told me that there would be a change order. I don't know how much she would charge for the change order but it turned out Mike's original estimate was correct. Fortunately I didn't let those two guys finish the project. Here are the reasons I didn't let them finish the whole project: 1. They couldn't cut the subfloor along the cabinets in a straight line - P7 I tried to ask them if they could use some kind of tool to make the cutting a little bit smoother. But they told me nothing they could do. So I asked Mike to come and see if he could do something about it based on his years of experience. He came the next day but told me nothing wrong with that, the final product would look good. How could I trust him? He didn't even try to address my concern, and he was not happy that I wouldn't let them continue. For Mike's inspection and two guys standing by his side, they charged us $250 for it. -P1 2. They left big gaps on the few pieces of hardwood floor they installed around the Fireplace - P4 They charged $150 for it. 3. The estimate says OSB boards will be used to replace the damaged subfloor. But they went to Home Depot and picked up plywood boards because the HD nearby ran out of OSB boards. The plywood boards had lots of cracks all over, and they told me it's ok. Do they even care about the quality or they are just too inexperienced? I had to ask them to stop and insisted they use OSB boards. If I didn't watch them closely, they would have used those to repair the subfloor. So I let them go due to too many red flags. For the whole project they didn't finish the subfloor repairing. The estimate for that was $806 before tax - P2. I believe it's reasonable to assume that they would charge me $800 at most for the unfinished job. But take a look at the invoice they sent me in the last photo, they charged me more than $1,500. Go through the photos I attached about those ridiculous charges they made. I complained about the charges to Kellie. They discussed about it and decided to give me $300 credit to close the case without an updated invoice. Even with the $300 credit, they still charged me over $1,200 for the unfinished $806 work. And Kellie told me they wouldn't negotiate about their ridiculous charge.

2nd floor landing where hallway meets bonus room - look SO MUCH improved after Professional Flooring Installations replaced the carpet.

Professional Flooring Installations did a great job from quote to completion of a carpet replacement job for us. Kellie provides great customer service specifically providing a rough estimate through Yelp's request-a-quote feature and providing very kind on-the-phone customer service answering questions during scheduling and carpet selection. The installation crew (Juan and Paulino) are real craftsman. We stopped by during the installation and were pleasantly surprised that they already had the old carpet and pad out, "neatly" rolled up to be put into the work vans for disposal. They both were also very professional and polite as well. They did an excellent job on the installation and cleaned-up (including vacuuming up stray bits, etc.) Thanks again to Kellie, Juan and Paulino and Professional Flooring Installations. They provided a great service at a competitive rate and went above-and-beyond by handling our unique situation by acting quickly and pleasantly throughout the whole process.

Mike and Kellie are excellent, very attentive to their customers needs. The appointment was scheduled very quickly and upon supplies arriving, Mike completed the job and it looks beautiful. He repaired our stairway when it was damaged due to bringing in a treadmill. Each lip of every stair needed to be replaced and Mike did it with ease. Even with one additional little repair that he needed to come back for, he came back the next day and completed it. I highly recommend PFI for your next need.

    Hardwood refinishing

We didn't have access to our new home but knew it needed new floors, and Kellie took it upon herself to do the 3D walk thru from the real estate listing to measure and get us an accurate (and very reasonable!) quote. We had carpets and hardwood installed, and hardwoods refinished, and it is all beautiful and high quality. Excellent customer service and communication throughout the whole process. 10/10

He even made a few deliveries himself. Brian was professional, extremely knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions or concerns. He had me come up to his office / warehouse location to look at some examples of what United had to offer, which I would recommend others do as well. He "always" responded back to me when I sent an email or called even when he was ill or on vacation. He explained things when I didn't understand so I could contemplate what I wanted, and we could go forward from there. When the remodel was complete, Brian and his colleague, Jade Hemmings, came out with a professional photographer (at my convenience) and took photographs. Jade made sure I was given copies of the photos taken, which was sincerely appreciated. I would highly recommend United Wholesale Supply Inc and anyone lucky enough to have Brian as their sales associate, would be lucky to have him.

Sophie, the manager at the very nice Pius Tacoma showroom and our only contact in dealing with our project, was very helpful in all aspects of selecting the granite stone. A trip to the Pius warehouse in Seattle 's SoDo neighborhood near Century Link Stadium showed quite an impressive operation as we selected our stone panels. The installers did an amazing job of measurement, stone cutting, and tight fitting installation - but that is when things began to go wrong. Pius has great prices but be forewarned, they only install and are not responsible for anything other than putting the countertops in. You are responsible for tearing out your old countertops and preparing your home with floor coverings to protect from dirt and dust. That's OK as they made it clear that is how they operate. And there is a lot of dust from cutting the countertops in your driveway or front yard that they "try" to clean up "as best they can". Our problem and deep disappointment and let-down was their refusal to address the inadequate final cleaning of the countertops. The installers left a residue of fine dust and a thin film of glue that blemished the luster of the countertops. The head installer did wipe down the countertops with acetone but never changed rags and left a covering of dust and film. We asked him about it as he finished, and he said we "could use Windex for a final cleaning". OUR MISTAKE - We should have insisted right then that he redo his cleaning to remove the dust and film because as we found out after he left, our attempts with Windex did not remove the thin film of glue on the countertops. We emailed Sophie detailed pictures and videos of the blemished countertops along with observations proving this was dust and a film of glue that should have been removed by their installers. And we asked her to send someone to inspect and fully clean the countertops. Additionally, a 3rd party contractor we used to remove the old countertops who is a contractor Pius routinely works with also told Sophie the countertops were not properly cleaned. To all this, Sophie never called to clarify our comments and instead emailed a response that what we were seeing were "normal stone defects" they could not take out. Her comment was totally false! We researched cleaning products and to our great relief, we were able to clean the dust and film from the countertops to our full satisfaction. However, the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction and owning up for something they were responsible to handle soured us from doing further business we were planning to do in remodeling our kitchen. We will never use Pius Kitchen and Bath again and don't care how good their prices might be. If you still decide to use Pius, be sure to observe and carefully inspect the final cleaning and insist the installers fully clean your new countertops to the same luster you see in their showroom.

I wanted to find a great tiler…read morebecause I had a lot of tile work that needed to be done on our remodel and some of the tile had uneven edges and the kitchen tile had different shapes, so I needed someone who knew how to tile more than just basic tile. I asked an employee of the tile store if she knew of a great tile person and she immediately recommended Ivan. In fact, she told me that he was about to start a project on her house, so she really meant it. I called Ivan and he responded quickly. I immediately sensed that he knew what he was talking about and took great pride in his work which was important to me. Ivan and Sergei, who is also absolutely experienced and incredible, could not have done a better job! The tile was layed out perfectly, the grout lines are perfect and they cut the tiles so the pattern looks amazing throughout. Check out the photo I attached of the corner wall in my kitchen. The large fireplace really needed people with extensive expertise because it turned out that unbeknownst to me, those tiles also were not exactly even. Before this project, I hadn't realized that a lot of tiles aren't the same exact size even if you think they are, so you need someone who really knows how to handle that. Ivan and Sergei spent a lot of time with a laser light pointer to make sure everything lined up perfectly and the end result is fantastic! The fireplace with the little tiles was also challenging because the little tiles kept coming off the mesh backing they came on. Ivan figured out how to make them stick on their backing prior to applying them and the end result is perfect. They also did our bathroom for us including a glass shower nook and that too, came out perfect. In addition to all that, everyone at I & E is extremely professional, timely, great at communicating and friendly. They take great pride in their work and it shows. I'm very grateful for the amazing job they did. You won't be sorry if you hire them!

We have a baby, and wanted to change the floors of a house we bought for durability and aesthetics before moving in. There were also a number of creaks in our floors, and we wanted to get them fixed. Erik's team was able to take off the carpet and existing pine hardwood, level the floor, and install the laminate we picked out. His team came at 8am every morning and they finished by evening when we came back. We did this before we moved into our new house, and we love the way our house looks and feels now. Erik (the owner) was the first to come do the consultation, he was quick, and to me he felt very trustworthy from the beginning. He was also communicative throughout the whole process - often on the over-detailed side. And among the other offers, his was reasonable in price (compared to others) and according to our quick timeline. That said, when you get work done you may come across hurdles and it's important you get alternate opinions. As first time homeowners, we assumed that getting flooring done is straightforward. Apparently it's not. We were warned that the initial quote may be affected by the state of our subfloors once they take out the existing flooring. We got an urgent call saying that there was a lot more unevenness in our floors than expected, and that they would have to pour self leveling throughout the entire house, which was a quote of 90 bags, at $150 each. We were told that was the only option, and were strongly encouraged to go this route to make our timeline. After getting evaluations from multiple other flooring experts, we got alternate advice for up to 12 bags of self leveling, max. Our home is only 10yrs old. 90 bags of self leveling is enough for an entire apartment building, and weighs over 2 tons. Apparently the only way to guarantee absolute evenness is if you just pour self leveling on the entire floor, and also easier for the workers. But we opted for the labor-intensive (but more cost effective) way of going through the whole house measuring each high point & low point, sanding down the high points, and only pouring in the patches at the low points. Needless to say, we rejected the proposed approach and Erik's team was able to handle the uneven subfloors with only 3 bags. Three. Unfortunately, this issue resulted in several days delay in the completion of our project, not to mention a lot of additional stress. We wish this hurdle had not happened. That said, we are proud to have not caved under urgency and stress - it would have cost us 13.5K! That said, after consulting quite a few flooring companies - I noticed that each will use different numbers for labor, materials, demo, etc. They also suggest different approaches like keeping quarter rounds on baseboards or ripping them off and attaching new ones. Adding transitions as an additional cost or not, etc etc. Get as many quotes as you can so you understand what is the average price you should expect to pay - they may charge differently, but at the end of the day they have to meet their numbers to pay their guys and still make a profit. Flooring costs more than I expected, and most of the quotes I got were 14-20K for 2 story house around 2000sq ft. (Bathrooms excluded). At the end of the day, we love our new floors. Erik was extremely communicative through the whole process. His team was hardworking, and finished the work before we had to leave on a trip. They were detailed for the part of the floor which met the fireplace, making sure it was flush against the uneven hearth tile. There are barely any squeaks left in the house. They came and resolved any concerns we had. They were flexible with movers coming as they were finishing the last day. All in all, although there was a hiccup in the process, we did have a very good experience with Erik and his team. And, I'm confident he will recommend the spot patching method for leveling the floor for future clients. Thank you for making our floors one of my favorite parts of the house now, Hardwood Plus!
