I looked all over for a licensed contractor to frame out and install a door on a den that was designed with no door and after many no shows and declines because it was a small job I finally found Greg. Greg and his team did a really great job matching the existing masonry and they were very respectful of the property. They put down covers over everything and were great about shutting the door securely each time because we have indoor cats (and one who tries to escape from time to time.) I was very pleased with the whole process overall. Greg is very responsive and easy to work with. I hope we can have him on another project!

Greg and his team did an incredible job with our 2021 vinyl flooring remodel. Greg is the foreman, and was helpful, polite and professional from start to finish. Greg provided a free quote, quickly identified all materials needed, and completed the project in a timely manner. Greg's price bid was by far the best one we received while researching different contractors. The Smarter Construction crew were friendly and respectful while working in our home. We are 100% pleased with their craftsmanship, as the new vinyl completely transformed our upstairs and the final product turned out great. I would recommend Smarter Construction to anyone and will absolutely work with Greg again in the future. Smarter Construction is a Puyallup gem and a fantastic find for all your renovation and remodel needs. Thanks Greg!!

My mom and I were victims of bad plumbing. The shower valve in one of our upstairs bathrooms ruptured and ruined our flooring downstairs, half the kitchen ceiling and the adjoining bathroom was torn apart to fix the valve. We used this site to find a contractor and, we ended up narrowing it down to two. There were several reasons we chose Smarter Construction to repair our condominium. First, the difference between the estimate and the insurance payout was less than three hundred dollars and, it was extremely detailed. Second, Greg, the owner, offered to meet us at a local flooring warehouse to find the right flooring, which we did. Third, his employees are his family and, he regularly supervised their work. Fourth, he would call us whenever he came by. Our contact was often and appreciated. Fifth, he estimated the work would take no longer than two weeks to complete. It was finished in one. And finally, our condominium looks better than the day we moved in. So, based on our experience, we would recommend Smarter Construction to anyone who needs a contractor and, we would definitely work with Greg again.

We had a series of projects that we needed done on our house and were hoping to find someone that could complete them all back to back rather than hiring different contractors. Greg and his team were able to start quickly, the quote was very reasonable, and they were able to complete all of the projects at the same time. Project 1: Greg completely replaced our front stairs, porch, and railing. This included knocking out old cement stairs and reframing the pillars on our porch. He took extra care to match the stain color that was already on our house which was greatly appreciated. Project 2: Greg completely knocked down our existing back deck and rebuilt it from scratch with a new roof, stairs, decking and railing. He installed lighting and heaters on the deck and integrated the deck roof into our existing roof. You can't even tell it is a new addition! The roof looks like it was always there. Amazing. Project 3: Greg installed an outdoor kitchen for us on our new deck. This included removing a window from the house, building a new wall on the deck, installing the kitchen cabinetry and appliances, and tiling the new wall. We love our new cooking area! In fact, it looks better than our actual kitchen! Project 4: Greg converted the unused and awkward space under our deck into a much needed storage space. The storage space spans the entire deck and is water proof. He installed a paver stone floor, ran lights for us, and built a custom door for the space. All of these projects were completed back to back or concurrently. Greg and his team were friendly and professional. Greg was easy to work with and honest about any issues that he foresaw with our plans. We inquired about his professional opinion on a lot of things and were comfortable following his advice. We already told him he will be hearing from us again for future projects.

We had a solid cement stoop (5 stairs high) outside our home removed. Smarter Construction replaced it with a beautiful trek based porch and 5 stair stoop. Greg made adjustments based on our requests and we are very happy with the work. Smarter Construction painted our gutters and soffits, which was a project we have wanted completed for awhile. They were done quickly with this painting project, and we are happy with the work. More stable railings were also installed to our front walk way which includes two sets of stairs. Again we are very happy with the work and how they look. Thank you!

I highly recommend Greg and his team. Greg quickly responded to my initial inquiry (turning an unfinished daylight basement room into an office and workout space), scheduled an in-person estimate (he was great about wearing a mask, distancing, etc.) and quoted the best price among four bids I received from contractors. Once work began, Greg and team were totally reliable, the project finished on time, and on budget. Greg even came back to fine tune a couple minor things as he wanted us to feel 100% satisfied. It's tough to find a reliable general contractor anytime, let alone during the pandemic. Greg was awesome and I'll be hiring him to resurface my back deck in the near future.

I hired Greg to repair some dry rot below my back door. His price was reasonable and he did high quality work. Highly recommend.

The doors we purchased were a quarter inch too wide, so they needed to be trimmed to fit our frames properly. Juan was the first to respond to my Yelp request and provided a very fair quote. His team arrived early just two days later and completed the entire project in just a few hours, delivering excellent results. We are extremely happy with their work and would gladly recommend them to our friends.

We hired Juan about a month ago for a shower remodel. Overall, the work is ok, but definitely not…read moreprofessional quality and left a lot to be desired. The good: -competitively priced, one of the cheaper quotes we received -good quality materials: porcelain tile slabs -frequent communication -finished product seems to be functionally ok, for now -we had a toilet leak during the construction period, Juan reseated the toilet properly and fixed the leak promptly, this was much appreciated. The bad The work was overall sloppy, in many regards. First and foremost, after Juan installed the valve and plumbing, they caused a small leak into our living room below during water testing. This required them to open up the ceiling downstairs, dry it out, and patch up the drywall and repaint (see pictures below). This honestly freaked me out and increased my vigilance throughout the project. During shower door installation, they cracked one of the slabs requiring it to be replaced. This was fine, but the waterproofing patch job looked uneven and thin, but they did come out and re-coat it after I brought this up. The shower door hinges were poorly installed initially. The screws were not countersunk and sticking out; I even confirmed with the shower door manufacturer that this was not correct. We had a lot of back and forth about this; Juan eventually replaced the screws with ones that fit more properly. Wall edge at the end of the shower looks very uneven, and the caulking has cracked and the wall on the tub side even has a hole in it at the transition. On the last day, I asked them to replace the shower arm to raise our showerhead, as it was low; I purchased a gooseneck from Lowe's myself, but Juan initially told me "you can do it yourself" however because they already installed a standard shower arm. He did end up putting it in at the end but it was installed improperly; it was crooked, so I decided to replace it myself afterwards as I was already quite stressed with this project already and this was a simple fix. After taking the shower arm off, I found no teflon tape on the threads, but instead a thin layer of some kind of goo. I'm not a plumber, but teflon tape is generally recommended to seal the threads. I cleaned the threads off and installed the shower arm with properly applied teflon tape with a thin layer of pipe dope. At least the copper elbow in the wall felt solid. Overall, the wet area seems ok, we're not having any leaks (so far), and the shower is functional; however, I felt the project was rushed, communication, while frequent, was poor, and the end product is just sloppy. In the end I was told "I worry too much about everything." I'll post the pictures of the areas of concern and you can judge for yourself. We saved a few thousand dollars, but in hindsight, I wish I hired someone else and saved myself a lot of stress.

I contacted 3 of them and received quotes, including one that advertises extensively as being experts in outdoor spaces. I still had reservations and got two more quotes, including one from CREX construction. Anthony with CREX came out and met with me to discuss materials and discuss the project and asked enough questions so that the entire project would be well thought out. His follow up with the design work, dropping off extra samples, and communication was head and shoulders above the others so I went with CREX. What WASN'T head and shoulders above the rest was the price- CREX was right in line with the market and the other four quotes. I've owned a home for 30 years and have worked with dozens of contractors and various projects. Anthony wasn't just a face for the business to get signed bids up front and then disappear only to send in inexpensive and inexperienced workers. Anthony was there onsite with his foreman, Juan, and they both did an amazing job! Every board cut and every detail was precise and exactly as I had hoped. I was very impressed with CREX.

As our only downstairs bathroom and the one guests would use, we wanted it to be both functional and welcoming. We particularly appreciated Anthony's ability to create his own drawings, which helped us visualize the final product. His woodworking experience was a big reassurance that the custom elements would look great. He sources quality products at fair prices and achieved a seamless match between the built-in components and our purchased cabinet. We're very happy with the outcome and look forward to tackling our upstairs bathrooms and kitchen with Anthony's team next.
