I don't often write reviews, but having had extensive work done on my house, I understand the struggle of finding a trustworthy contractor in Seattle. When a week of relentless December rain caused our roof to leak, we found ourselves in urgent need of a new roof. Based on solid recommendations from friends, we turned to Gafco Roofing. Their prompt response and quick scheduling amidst challenging weather conditions immediately set a positive tone. Seattle is a daunting contractor maze and we were on a rapid quest for the Holy Grail: a high-quality roof that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Gafco stood out as an exceptional value. Our interactions with Eric were a breeze. He was not pushy (e.g. all decision makers must be at home before I'll talk to you sort of garbage), and was incredibly patient in addressing our questions by explaining the different materials and their installation process. This attention to detail was a real eye-opener, I might be a roof-snob now. We chose GAF architectural shingles, which significantly improved the aesthetics of our home. The transformation was not just in appearance; the functional integrity of our roof was restored, easing our worries about future rainfall - a frequent concern in Seattle. The professionalism of the entire team was evident throughout the project. They faced the unique challenge of our hillside Seattle home, which precluded crane use for material delivery. Yet, their efficiency in manually handling materials and cleanup was remarkable. After Gafco, our yard was so spotless, you'd never guess it was a construction site just hours before. It was just a 2-day project, but they cleaned up after both days with our yard looking tidier than before they arrived, a detail that didn't go unnoticed by our neighbors. Cost-wise, Gafco struck the perfect balance between quality and affordability. Their pricing was fair, not the cheapest, but for the premium product, service, and installation we received, it felt like we were getting a luxury experience at a moderate price. If you are a car person (like me) think Mercedes-level looks & quality for the cost of a Honda (with other contractors in Seattle it often feels reversed). This project, initially an emergency repair, turned into a surprisingly gratifying experience. The upgrade to our house was so impressive that it left us wondering why we hadn't undertaken this project sooner. Gafco Roofing not only solved our immediate issue but also enhanced the overall look of our home. For anyone in Seattle (who cares about their neighbors and the look of their house) facing roofing issues or considering a roof upgrade, Gafco Roofing should undoubtedly be at the top of your list. Their blend of expertise, value, and quality service is a rare find. read more

Our house was overdue for a paint job. I was nervous about the process because this was the first time we'd ever had a home painted. I found this website and advertised what I needed. I received a handful of interested parties willing to come out and look at my home to give me an estimate. Lucinda, from Gafco, came out to look at our home. We had an old run-down deck that had needed to be removed and a few pieces of siding that needed replacing due to a leak above the window. I asked her to give me two separate estimates, one for painting and one for the deck removal/siding repair. She retreated to her car and returned immediately with the best prices I could have ever hoped for. Didn't take long to decide to hire Gafco to do the work we needed. I went to the office on Monday to sign the contract and put down my 50%. Spent a lot of time calling Lucinda, the office manager, because I had so many questions. She was so friendly and there with an answer every time I needed her. They started on Tuesday with the pressure washing. We had a lot of peeling paint, so it took a couple of days to get all of the scraping and priming done. With the deck, we were worried that the leak might have caused damage inside the wall, which would relate to more work and the price going up. We talked with Erik, the owner, about this and he assured us that when he got in and could see what was happening, he would stop and let us know what we were up against before we went any further. This was very relieving. The deck turned out to not be a big deal. It was removed, the siding replaced, flashing was added above the windows where it had not been when built, which caused the leak. The whole crew arrived early Friday morning to paint our house. What a great group of guys! They were all very friendly and respectful. Erik had us walk around with him at least 5 times to make sure they didn't miss anything, and to point out anything we thought needed to be touched up. When they were all done, we were left with a beautifully painted home and a clean yard. I will definitely be recommending this company to everyone I know who is looking for a job well done at an excellent and affordable price. They are top-notch! Mechelle B. read more

My house is 18 years old, built in 1995, and had a roof of thin cedar shingles. There was skip-sheathing under them but no plywood. Eric's crew showed up on time, removed the old roofing materials, installed new plywood and composition shingles. They protected the flowerbeds and landscaping and cleaned up after the job was finished. The time estimated for this project was 3-4 days, but they finished before noon the second day. Eric was present during most of the project and he and his crew were very pleasant. We were so pleased with his work that we have hired him to paint the house. Will write a review when that job is finished. PAINT REVIEW: Work Description: Power-washed the exterior of the house, scraped, primed, sprayed and rolled two coats of paint on the body of the house, painted the trim in a contrasting color, touched up, and cleaned up afterwards. Comments: Eric of GAFCO installed a new roof for us last month and presented a reasonable bid for painting the exterior of the house when he was finished. He and his crew did a great job, cleaning, scraping, papering over the windows to keep them free of paint, laying down drop cloths to catch the scraped-off paint, and to protect the walkways around the house. They primed, sprayed and rolled two coats of the body paint and rolled the trim color. They went back and touched up the places that didn't cover (there's always a couple of places like that), and cleaned up. The overall experience was very good. read more

We had our house painted by Gafco last May. I am still finding issues with the paint job. Gafco pressure washed and did some scrapping of the house to prep for painting. However the job was not complete. When my wife pointed out that she could easily flick old paint of the house, the worker asked what did she expect, to scrap the entire house? The manager said don't comment on the paint until they were through. The painter had to rescrape areas and paint again because initial scraping was so poor. When I went up on my roof to clean gutters, I found then had never scrapped or pressure washed the chimney. They just painted over old paint. Now I will have to paint parts of the house again next year (oh, and they didn't leave any of the extra paint I purchased. I had also asked that old board be replaced as part of our job. I was told any that needed replacing would be replaced. In the end, I had to point out the same boards that needed to be replaced 3 times before they were finally replaced. The contract calls for spraying and back rolling. However, no back rolling was ever done. The painter's car reeked of marijuana. The only part of the job done right was the trim around the windows. If you hire this team, expect to supervise all parts of the job. read more

Gafco Roofing and Construction started to impress my wife and I from the beginning with a competitive and detailed bid. We decided to hire Gafco to paint our house and renovate our deck because we felt Eric, the owner, understood our needs and could deliver what we wanted at a competitive price. We were not let down. The crew and Eric showed up early, worked hard, listened to our concerns and wishes, and went above and beyond to ensure the work area was clean and safe at the end of the day. With three young children that was really important. The work was completed on time and the product was exactly what we expected. read more

The work that Eric and his crew have done to my home is second to none. Gafco is the only company I trust to do any work on my home. A few years ago I had Eric out to give an estimate on my old worn out roof and within a few days I had a new one installed. When it came time to redo the siding, I reached out to Eric, and his crew tore down, resheeted and installed beautiful new siding. Thanks to Eric I now have a practically brand new house. Looking forward to working with him again on future work. I cannot recommend GAFCO enough for all of your home improvement needs. read more

From start to finish I thought that the roofing job was done in an exceedingly fast and proper way. Eric the owner was very helpful in showing us our options and not making us feel as though we needed to have the job done by his company. He encouraged us to look at other roofing services and compare. We shopped around extensively and found that his bid was not only reasonable but a great price for the job. I would recommend Gafco Roofing to my family members and friends any day of the week. read more
