Jose the sales rep I met with was very professional, courteous and thorough in getting an accurate quote. He followed up to make sure I understood the work project and all the details they would be doing for my roof. Got good vibes from the Scott the owner, seemed like a genuine down-to-earth guy and explained the different proposals over the phone. Very responsive when I needed to change some details around. Ultimately, I did not choose to go with Tekline even though I wanted to go with them because I felt the most comfortable with them on my project due to its complexities. I don't usually write reviews, but definitely want to write one for Tekline Roofing. My brother in law recommended Tekline and we are very pleased we had their group do the work. Their customer service was excellent and they responded very quickly with questions. Norm was great at explaining the roofing process, how to get prepared, etc. The cost was very reasonable for the work that was done. Our home is old and has a somewhat complex roof and they definitely didn't cut any corners. We felt confident the work was being done well. The work took longer than expected, partly because they discovered there wasn't plywood on parts of our roof, something they couldn't determine until the old shingles were removed. Tha was excellent and came by our home a few days before the work started to discuss how they would protect our garden-landscaping. They daily placed tarps and plywood to protect damaging things outside and they cleaned up every day after 11-12 hours of hard work. Misael oversaw the daily work and took photos and the team shared updates and photos on a regular basis. At the end of the project, my garden looks great! The roof was just completed this week and they will be back to replace one of the skylights in our attic that was on backorder. read more

They did meticulous, immaculate work. The team's cohesiveness and sincerity was impressive and inspiring to witness. Mine was a 5-day re-roofing project (a 3-layer complete tear-off for house + ADU), and after each day they put in a lot of effort to clean up completely before leaving. When unexpected work was encountered (like rotted fascia boards), it was documented with photos. During the initial bid process, they were quite adaptable in order to make the job work out. Just wrapped up a major maintenance project on our house. We replaced about 2,000 sq feet of 70 year old concrete tile with new composite. We got bids from nine companies and vetted them through social media reviews as well as the BBB. We didn't go with the cheapest company, but rather went with a company that was on the higher end of the middle of the pack. We felt the extra money was worth the peace of mind we'd get from quality workmanship. We chose Tekline and we couldn't be happier with the final product as well as the working relationship with the crew. We've done 6 major remodeling/renovation projects on the house and have always found that good communications is one of the keys for a successful project. You could not find better communicators than these folks. Tha, the field supervisor, kept us posted on all of the work from start to finish. He also provided us plenty of photos of the work in progress, any issues they discovered, as well as the final product. After the work was wrapped up, the crew worked until dark to make sure the grounds were clean and all debris removed. There were a few tire marks on our new driveway and they're going to send a separate crew to take care of those. This is a company we would recommend without hesitation to friends and family. We're pretty diligent on checking folks out and always get multiple bids. Tekline passed all the tests; bonded and licensed, good BBB rating, nice social media reports, etc. The bid wasn't the highest nor the lowest but was very competitive. The sales rep, Norm Hoagland, was terrific; professional and well informed but also someone you enjoy getting to know. They answered all of our questions, and we had a lot. Installation was professional and smooth; done in a day. The crew was polite, professional and cleaned up our home site after the job. It was impressive to say the least and we're not newbies to contractors and major projects. But the most amazing thing was the visit from the owner of the company, Scott Morrison, a few days later to check the job and make sure the work was in order--when does that happen? And then, a few days later, we get a small gift in the mail with a note from Scott to thank us for our business. Again--when does that happen anymore? From beginning to end, this experience was a model of the way a project, and a good business, should be--right down to the visit by the guy who owns the business. Scheduling an estimate went smoothly. Estimator that showed up did the least amount of work possible. They did not want to look at the access that was created of the damaged section. Was told he would have his supervisor come back out in 2 days and would contact us ASAP to confirm. Waited two days and no contact. Reached out to the estimator and he responded with a new date. After the date in question no one contacted me or showed up. Reached back out to Tekline and was told the original estimator would reach back out. At this point I do not want talk to the original estimator who fails to communicate. Reached out to two other companies and their estimators provided an estimate same day. They asked questions and took their time to provide a quote. If Tekline did not wish to price a quote they should have said so and not waste my time. read more

Amazing job from Tekline Roofing on our large multi-unit townhouse project. Tekline was professional and responsive from day one. The estimates were thorough and included many details that other estimates often left off. There was never any question of what kinds of materials, fittings, etc would be included. They were very flexible and worked with us to come up with a start date for the job. We were very impressed at how well their team worked together, and how efficiently they got things done! During the job, the project lead communicated regularly with us and sent regular updates (with photos). All additional costs (i.e., rotting plywood) were communicated in a timely fashion and before they started work to replace it. I liked that they had their own carpenter available who could help fix some wood rot on the trim by the roof, if needed. I called Tekline to get an estimate for replacement of my 24-year-old architectural asphalt shingle roof. Norm came out the next day, examined my roof carefully, and told me that I should wait another 3-5 years before replacing my roof. Another roofing company encouraged me to replace the roof due to loss of granules from the shingles and some minor cracking. Norm demonstrated to me that these minor defects aren't problematic. Instead of selling me a new roof I don't need yet he encouraged me to hold off. I'll be sure to have Norm re-evaluate my roof for replacement in the future. read more

We're still in the process of selecting our roof replacement contractors so I'm not in a position to rate their overall service yet but I do want to say a few things about the great service we got from the guy who came out and did the inspection. Jose conducted a very detailed survey of our roof and the gutter system, climbed up and down our roof (multi-level), caught and noted all issues with pictures, and reviewed all those with me afterwards. He also went in and inspected our attic as that could reflect potential issues with the roof. I was very impressed with the work, the care and efforts he took, and the manner he conducted himself -- his job was to sell us their service but he did that not through pressure or tricks but let his action speak for itself and the company he represents. I'll provide more comprehensive review if we decide to go with them but hope what I've jotted down will provide some help to those who are also looking for roofing contractors. read more

The recently purchased a home that was in desperate need of a roof replacement. We moved in, in November, So I didn't want to do the work, but wanted to schedule for when the weather enabled. I took the time to get multiple bids and I chose Tekline for three main reasons: 1) Professional and knowledgeable staff 2) competitive and reasonable pricing 3) technical capabilities and project management. There were a few complicating issues around other needed work and Tekline was able to help me facilitate and schedule that work. When we did the work, the weather didn't fully cooperate and it rained relatively hard over one night, but the crew prepped the house pretty well and we didn't have any major problems. The on-site crew lead talked to me a few times to clarify some of the work they were doing and also walk me through after they were done. Owner-involved roofing company should be your go-to for all roofing needs. As someone who is very suspicious of all construction companies, I had a wonderful experience with Tekline. My old roof got wrecked by a storm in early January and I got some leakage coming into my house, so I had to get it fixed ASAP. Tekline was able to squeeze me in within a day, whereas everyone else wasn't available for days to weeks or wouldn't take my business because I wasn't sure if I needed a whole roof or just a repair. The estimator came out and was extremely friendly and trustworthy. We had good conversation, he worked with me on pricing, since roof repairs aren't cheap, and gave me a very specific plan for the needs of my house. He didn't include repairs for anything that didn't explicitly need repair/replace. We ended up doing my entire upper roof (which I was prepared for) and left out all the little roof offshoots. The roofers themselves were efficient and solid. About 8-12 people came out and got it done in one extended workday. It was pretty impressive. No damage to the house or property. Everyone was polite. They all asked if they could come in and insisted on taking their shoes off between going from our front door to the deck. After it was done, Scott, the owner, personally came out to collect payment and ask us if everything was tip top. He even asked us if we felt the price was fair, which I really appreciated. We had a good conversation and then he took off. Scott does this for every single customer he has. It's a really, really nice touch you don't see hardly ever in the industry. They've made a loyal customer out of me. I doubt I'll be needing their services for another 10 years or so, as that's how it goes, but when I do, they'll be the first to get rung up. read more

Arrived early, was very personable, shared all of his assessment findings, and laid out the remediation plan. Needed a new roof on my house in Seatac due to Jan storm damage. Chris O'Leary the Tekline Rep did a great job in providing an estimate and most importantly he contacted my insurance rep and corrected some errors that their estimator had made on their appraisal. Workers arrived on time and within 2 days I had a new great roof. After the roof was installed they did a sweep of the area to make sure that there were no stray nails around the property. The next day there was another sweep of the area to make sure everything was okay. They bring a big metal dumpster to make sure all the shingles that are torn off are properly disposed. After the job I received the warranty in the mail so when I sell the house I have written proof of the warranty on roof. That is important to me. We had moisture spots on our roof that were identified through an inspection done in the attic along with detached staples on top of the roof. Robert came out to do a thorough look over of our roof and gave us several options. The roof was close to end of its lifecycle and had undergone aggressive pressure washing in the past. We elected to go with a new roof. Robert went through several options including the different types of shingles and their material properties. We were able to come up with colors to our liking then scheduled the roof replacement. The crew came out and worked very hard removing our old roofing material while taking photographs every step of the way to keep us in the loop with what was being done. They installed our new roof and made improvements to reduce occurrences of water leaks. They also did some paint touch ups to help the appearance in some areas and cleaned off moss from our fascia and trims. We are happy with our new roof and highly recommend Tekline Roofing! read more

I'm reviewing this business based solely on the rep "Norm" who came out to provide an estimate, and the estimate itself. It's possible, maybe even probable that Tekline has a great crew of roofers. This isn't an easy job and it's not cheap for it to be done correctly, and done with the right materials. With that in mind, if you enjoy old school sales tactics and a really good fleecing - you've come to the right place! Not only was Tekline Roofing the most expensive, they were almost *twice* as expensive than my 2nd highest bid (6 bids in all). All my bids came from highly rated companies. I grew up in a family of some very talented sales people. While I'm not a sales person, I'm a bit familiar with sales games and I've watched some masters in action. There's the "silent game" (whoever talks first, loses), the "assumptive close", and more. The desired outcome is the Joy felt with how much money can be squeezed out of a "mark". A sucker. With exception to the vulnerable and the elderly, it can actually be fun to watch. It's an artform from the early 20th century known as "the Four Fs". [Find 'em, Feel 'em, F*** 'em, Forget 'em]. I can feel him $izing me up as he waits for me to come to him, on the sidewalk... Norm is a seasoned pro. My wife and I are DIYs, and new-ish owners of this 120 year old house on Capitol Hill. We're not rich, but we're resourceful and not afraid of projects. It was nice of Norm to open the conversation with how "neglected your house is". "How much of a headache [I'm] causing with the amount of work he's going to do for us". Insult + the ole' "assumptive close"! A double whammy out of the gate! :D Don't get me wrong. While it was a fun ride... maybe even a little nostalgic, it was a waste of time. Norm knew we weren't buying what he was selling, and after a nice condescending "Best of Luck!", Norm moved on. Know that I take zero joy in writing a one star review for any business, but the level of tactics was completely unnecessary and the quote itself was a joke. We got our roof done correctly with the right materials for a LOT less, and by an upfront, no nonsense, and very customer oriented company. If I need something done with the roof, these are the only people I will go with. I just did an extensive home remodel, and roof replacement by Tekline in September was one of the few things that went smoothly. Most everything else was done by my GC's subcontractors, but I was skeptical of his roofing sub who had no credentials and questionably high bid. So I decided to hire my own roofer, which turned out to be Tekline. They gave me a quote right away, scheduled my job within a few weeks, and the quality of their work is masterful. I called this last Monday to get a estimate on a roofing job. I made an appointment the following day for 10:00 AM. The reason I'm writing this review is because, the representative never showed up to the appointment. I wasted two hours of my time from work to be stood up. As soon I wrote a bad review yesterday the owner was quick to respond claiming that it was impossible to get a quick appointment. I text the owner my call log from my phone and it showed I spoke to the number listed for the company for 3 minutes. That morning, I also wrote down my appointment with the other appointments on a sheet of paper and I also texted that to the owner. From the first outreach on Yelp to the finishing touches, Tekline provided a 5+ star service. In a recent Seattle windstorm I had the misfortune of having a few short rows of shingles blow off my 24 year old roof. I used Yelp to reach out to at least 5 highly-ranked roofing companies. Within 10 mins, Scott the owner reached out and offered the contact information for the office to reach out first thing in the morning. It took at least 2 days for the others to respond and one of them didn't even respond. The next morning I called the office and since I was heading out of town for the next week, she offered to send someone over that afternoon. Greg showed right on time and inspected the roof. He indicated that the area that had blown off had already been repaired once before since it has held in with nails vs staples for the rest of the roof. He offered up two contacts for other repair companies that could patch it up. But given the roof was 24 years old and it was unclear if the patch would even work elected to get a quote on a full replace. Within about 15 mins Greg came back with a quote. I contacted my neighbor who had his roof (same layout) replaced last year and the Tekline quote was within 10% of what he paid. After sleeping on it and a bit of negotiation, I signed with Tekline without getting any other estimates. That afternoon while I was out-of-town a crew showed up to secure a tarp to the roof to ensure there would be no leaks before they could start the replace. The following Monday, the crew of at least 5 guys showed up right on time and got immediately to work. By the end of the day (sunset at 4:30) they had the old roof completely removed and the first protective layer applied. By the end of day 2, I was told the roof was complete - incredible. However when I got home from work, before pulling into the driveway I checked for nails/staples and found a few. So was a bit worried they didn't do a proper clean up. However the guys showed up again on day 3 to do a complete clean up -- Suggestion for Tekline to not indicate the roof is "done" until clean up is complete. Bonus: During the installation, some paint got scrapped off my front porch step and it looked pretty bad. I pointed it out to Scott and he committed to repairing/repainting. Within a week he sent someone to completely sand, dry out, and repaint the step with an identical color. The good reviews are probably fake. People don't say "beautiful, expertly crafted standing seam metal roof" These guys were the highest bid and are absolute garbage. I chose them based on the fact that I was assured a guy with 25 years experience installing metal roofs would be on the job. He was for the demo, not for the install. They selectively replaced roof base with their ramshackle crew leaving rotting boards everywhere. I was promised all new roof decking, that's what my roof inspector told me to get. I was told the process would be a week and there has been a honey bucket in my yard for 3 weeks. I will be reporting to the better business bureau and possibly filing suit. Use someone else, these people are awful. Will upload pictures shortly. Update: Owner zoomed over immediately to fix the problem. Nice as can be. Creepy though, in a John Malkovich sort of way. Update #2: Except for the fact that the visit changed nothing. Still have rotting wood, took 3 weeks instead of the 1 I was assured AND we had a good rain a few days ago. I asked the sales guy if a metal roof would be loud, he said "not at all". I couldn't sleep. They piled on all these lies and just sent me the final balance $4,000 above the bid Notice the Ad banner by Tekline, that means they pay Yelp a kickback to put older good reviews above this one. Looks like they sent someone over to put some paint over the rot then complained to Yelp to pull the pictures I put off the site. So I took another one. We had a big job on a high-end house: Not a standard re-roofing job. We also needed a soffit added along the entire perimeter with a new flat roof that integrated into concrete siding. After several bids the expertise of Tekline really became apparent. They drafted a functional design that fit architecturally to the homes design that looks great! Tekline did our roofing about 2 years ago. The roof work was quick and we have not had issues with it thus far. Communication with the person leading the day to day work was challenging due language barrier. We had asked to speak with the stucco person and that was never arranged by the project lead who we communicated with only by email. We were told our scuppers were going to be replaced just to find out later on that it was not possible. We were also getting solar panels installed and trying to have the 2 companies communicate with each other was difficult. None the less, the work eventually got done. For the last 2 years, we are still picking up debris from the roof work that was done which includes rusted nails, broken torched down roof material, etc. read more

This company replaced my roof earlier this month on my Tudor home on Queen Anne. They did a wonderful job. Other companies took about a week of e mailing to set up the initial visit. I could never reach them by phone. Tekline called me about 10 minutes after I sent the inquiry via their website. The inspector Norm met me a week later to provide the bid and he spent a lot of time explaining the whole re-roofing process to me. Once the project was scheduled, I received daily calls from the company to update me and ask if I had any concerns. The crew that did the job was amazing. I do not think I have seen a people work so hard and so efficiently. Once the job was finished, the owner came out to the property check on the job and thank me for the business. I was very impressed with the work completed by Tekline! The bid process was easy and when I was finally ready to proceed, they were able to get me scheduled quickly. Communication was great! From day one the crews worked efficiently and did a great job protecting the roof from foretasted rain. There was also a chimney cap/shroud that needed to be removed and modified. The crew was able to complete the removal, make the modifications to accept the new chimney cricket and reinstall it beautifully.
