Tek-Line was one of five contractors I solicited for bids. Their proposal was the most complete and cogently presented of the five. They were quick to respond to my requests for additions or clarifications, and their clarifications actually clarified my questions. The price was not the lowest but was competitive. In the face of the end product the price was a bargain. They made several commitments: prices, schedules, "don't know but we will check that and get back to you (facia replacement, skylight replacement and number of layers of old roofing issues)". They were spot on in honoring all commitments. The roof was installed on the day they said it would be installed and it took the amount of time they said it would. Their crew - especially the crew chief - are true professionals. When I asked for the giant trailer full of old roofing be removed the afternoon of the roof installation, one of the principals of the company came out and hauled it away. The gutters were installed on schedule and in less time than they said it would. The contractor that they use is an equally great company. I would recommend this company to anyone. read more

I'm updating this review because Tekline contacted me after my first review. Scott the owner contacted me, and after hearing my explanation he apologized for it and said "We will do whatever we can do to earn your trust back". A moment later I got a call from them offering free repair of my roof, and I actually felt a little embarrassed because it sounded like I'm writing 1-star review for money, which I totally didn't intend to or ask for. But anyway I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, they acted super fast - the next day the roofer came to my home even though I was at work, and by the end of the day when I arrived home, the repair job was finished! The roofer even took photos and pointed out other potential issues, and told me that there is no need to replace the skylight - it's just a broken seal. I called them again and Norm explained everything in detail to me. I am impressed by their quick response and friendly manner. And I can tell they do care about their customers and they have high standards of workmanship. I believe there were some miscommunication and I kinda understand why they prefer phone calls over emails/online sign-up forms (but still, I hope they can be a little more adaptive to electronic communication). We picked Tek-Line to do a much needed reroof onour house in Maple Valley. One reason was the work they did for a neighbor of ours They also made a very good presentation when we called them for an estimate. They told us that they would do some temporary repairs that would tie us over until they could start. Since it was late fall, they needed dry weather before they could start. JW arrived the next day on time and was honest to state the real problem, it was the fireplace (not the roof). Aside from the root problem, JW was very informative about our roof and what we needed to do in order to keep our roof lasting for many years to come. I'm giving Tek-Line Roofing a 4-star based on honesty. He could have sold me a roof that I didn't need. What company does that? I got three roofing bids and TekLine was right in the middle. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but they paid attention to detail in ways that set them ahead and apart from the other well-reviewed roofing companies who bid on my project. TekLine were consummate professionals from start to finish. The estimator, Norm, took lots of photos and prepared a printed proposal immediately and showed me all the problems with my roof and flashing that I couldn't see. He pointed out areas where re-roofing could lead to other improvements, such as replacing ugly and poorly functioning side vents in the roof with a better-looking and better-functioning ridge vent. He pointed out several areas where the original builder didn't flash the house gable overhangs, and he incorporated that extra flashing improvement into my project. The entire roof was replaced in two days and then it took another week for a few minor tidy-ups to be completed (a couple pieces of broken siding replaced, gutter guards installed, re-routing of three gutters). We had to wait about 6 weeks to get on their schedule in mid-September 2016. We put in Certainteed Landmark TL (~35 year roof) and are very happy with the crew's cleanliness, professionalism, and workmanship. Why choose a random contractor you see on a random flyer when you can easily find highly rated contractors like this on Yelp? I would say this is the best contractor I have ever worked with. The whole team was professional and courteous. They made pretty good estimate on duration of the project and a rough plan on when it can start in advance. Even though they could only start working almost two months after I got the estimate, they told me this fact very early instead of holding me and delaying as much as possible. They tried not to disturb my daily schedule as much as possible. They didn't leave any trash or waste after the project was done. They made a mistake by stepping to my interior ceiling and broke it, but they fixed it responsibly. They even did extra works beyond their responsibility. My tree fell down on one night during the project, and they pulled the tree away and cleaned the root area. There were nails piercing through the interior ceiling and that was due to the structure of my house and it was not their fault, but they fixed it as well. It took several visits to fix all the ceiling issues but they did this very patiently. They covered the furnitures and items in my house to prevent them from getting dirty. They are not perfect though. They do not respond to Emails timely, but when you call they're available most of the time. The drainage pipes didn't fit into the ground outlets neatly. Sometimes they arrived very early (like before 8AM in the morning) when I preferred having some extra sleep. But overall this is still a 5 star contractor without a doubt. read more

After finding old shingles detached on our yard over the past 15 years we finally did the research and hired Tekline to put on a new roof. We made our decision after interviewing two other companies; although Tekline's bid wasn't the lowest we hired them based on their good reputation, the quality of their materials and their ability to get the job done in a shorter period of time. Norm gave us an informed, detailed and competitive estimate within minutes of a careful inspection. He printed it in his vehicle. A couple of weeks later work began; the roof was finished within a week, including replacing previous roof vents with a vent running the length of the house. In the course of the work it was discovered our existing soffits had gaps with resulting rot. With our permission Tekline arranged for those to be replaced by a subcontractor. Tekline came back a few weeks later when that work was done, to replace some siding and paint as needed. We were satisfied with all work and cleanup. We chose this company to completely remove and replace our roof, and gutters, and install two skylights. Our roof looks beautiful, and I don't know how they did it, but even our gutters look cute. This company was responsive and accommodating, they came out and gave us estimates twice, answered all our questions and responded to all our emails. Their price was about the same as the other two companies we got estimates from, but we were impressed with their attention to detail, patience for questions, and general no-pressure approach to their estimate process. Scheduling wise, things were satisfactory. The shingles arrived in a timely manner. There were a few delays in our project so it took a few weeks to get every detail done. Pat was able to squeeze us in between jobs since we were earnest to get it done during the dry season. Our start date moved back about a week when the job before us ran longer than expected. There was also a little confusion around our gutters and skylights, just around getting the parts from their suppliers, so our new gutters and skylights went in about a week and a half after our roof was finished. Our finished roof looks very handsome, and we love the ridge vents they put in, definitely an upgrade from our ventilation before. Our gutters look gorgeous, and they had no problem moving the downspouts to new locations. Tekline were very accommodating and worked with our time limitations. Their initial appraisal matched exactly what they actually discovered when the old roof came off, revealing a lot of water damage. Other companies we interviewed even went so far to say there was nothing wrong! Tekline were VERY honest and their estimate very clear and factual. Of course, it is hard to determine which company is telling the truth and what scope of work is truly needed. But frankly, Tekline's assessment was impeccable. We had to have a rat-eradication company come over and he was very surprised. This was the best roof that he had seen with the tightest and toughest grating over our vents. I have used TEK-Line roofing on 2 major projects which cost just over $200,000 total. I needed to replace the roofs on 4 apartment buildings (5 sections of roof total). After my experiences with TEK-Line, I have already referred them to friends, they are my go-to roofers. Scott and his crew were awesome. He sent out all his people at once to focus on my projects because they were so large. This helped complete it in a very timely fashion. Scott's bid on both wasn't the cheapest (close!), but it was incredibly fair and he worked hard to get and keep my business. In the end he won my business because the warranty was far longer than any other roofing company I talked to (commercial warranties are different from residential), the speed at which he could start the work, and because of his already strong reputation. Scott was very very communicative, there were no last minute surprises. Anytime I stopped by the jobsites, they were tidy and the crew friendly. I didn't receive a single complaint from my residents about anything to do with his crew, and I would have been sure to hear about it if there was a problem! And all the roofs have been through their first rainy season now, and performed perfectly! No leaks and NO standing water! Just awesome. I am presenting 2 detailed descriptions of my work with TEK-Line below ____________ Location #1 Replaced the flat roof on an apt complex in Federal Way. Used TPO membrane and a cricket system. Covered roughly 10,000 square feet over 3 separate areas. Cost: $96,026.51 While the roof appeared to be flat and I was considering tapering it, Scott determined in his investigations while biding that there was a slight pitch built into the roof joists already so I could get by with a cricket system instead of a full taper system. Using crickets instead of a full taper system saved about $22,000 and achieved basically the same result - a large flat roof that drains beautifully! When they started removing the old roof, they found extensive rot. We ended up having the re-sheath the entire roof because of gaps in the boards under the last roof (not a suitable surface for the new roofing membrane). They discovered the rot was because the last roof did not have the kitchen or bath vents actually hooked up to the roof vents, so all the moisture was being trapped in the roofing material itself. The fixed any insulation problems (either wet, or packed so tightly there was no airflow) and hooked every single vent up with no air gaps to the new roof vents. Fixing these problems ended up costing about $20,500 over the original bid. Scott worked with me on the pricing because this was such a large job which I appreciated. A person could have been suspicious or frustrated with the extra charges, but because Scott provided such detailed photos and explanations of all the work they did and damage they found, I have 100% confidence that they weren't charging for anything that didn't need to be done. Everything he said also correlated to my experiences with the specific problems I had with the building. _______________________ Location #2 Replace the flat roof on 2 apt buildings in Burien. Install new TPO roof with taper system and replace the decorative metal mansard around the roofs. Cost: $107,442.23 I had been having major issues with standing water and leaks inside the walls. I decided the best option was to install a full taper system to avoid ponding. The roof had large metal scupper built into the roof that were rusting and leaking in the walls, and the scuppers that Scott had custom made for my roof were entirely coated with the new TPO membrane and connected to the roof's TPO membrane. This created a seamless transition for the water when flowing in to my downspouts, and no metal is at all exposed so I will not have to deal with rot that I can't easily get to again. They repaired a little bit of rot. They discovered the rot was because the last roof did not have the bathroom vents directly tied to the roof vents (minor rot around the vents) and on one of the roofs the last roofer did not use tar paper at the edges!! They repaired the rot, but did so in a very practical and economical way to help keep the extra costs down. I ended up spending just over $11,000 repaired the rot. Scott provided many pics of the problem areas, and provided detailed explanations about what he crew found and did to repair it so I feel extremely confident that it was done well and efficiently. They also installed new roof hatches. They had the roof vents custom made, and it turns out they were not happy with the quality of the first batch so they sent them back and had them remade. I appreciate that Scott and his crew were truly concerned about the longevity of the project and wanted to use only the best quality items. After installing the roofs (about 9,000 sq ft between the 2 buildings), they replaced the old metal mansard, which makes the entire building look fresher from the street. read more

I wish their extraordinary level of integrity, quality of craftsmanship, honesty and ethics were common, but unfortunately, it is all too rare in any business. Yes, the Tek-Line estimate was a little higher than the other guys, but for what they delivered, the speed and the precision, the total clean up, the "being where they said when they said they'd be there" and for the genuine pleasure it was to work with them, it was beyond worth it. You can't buy integrity, but Tek-Line provides it AND I now have an absolutely beautiful, expertly crafted roof. They are certified to install a special type of roofing shingle that is made in Portland, Oregon specifically for pacific northwest climate (who knew?), and that's what we chose for our roof. We've a leak roof and call several companies for replacement. We got nobody call back and only Tekline has a live person answer my call and give me an appointment right away. They sent Norm to inspect our roof. He is very professional and helpful. We thought we need to replace new roof because it's 11 years old. We did a lot of research and got multiple bids before hiring Tekline. Scott climbed all over our three story roof prior to giving us a very fair and competitive bid. We wanted skylights and a maze of old gutters replaced, and we wanted metal to match the angular lines of the house. Just a quick recommendation for Tekline Roofing. They just completed a job on our house a week ago and did a fantastic job from start to finish. Norm, their sales representative was responsive, informative and thoughtful. He came out right away, got us a quote and sat down in person to walk us through the details. The on-site crew were talented and conscientious. They worked quickly (finished in 3 days) and were careful with our premises and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. At the end of it all, there were a few minor adjustments that were needed and they addressed them immediately. We needed a new roof on our house. We talked to Neil at tek- line roofing and he gave us a very good bid. They were very easy to work with. They came at the scheduled time, did excellent work, and cleaned up after themselves. The roof looks excellent in fact I've never seen another roof that looks like it. After meeting with and getting quotes from 10+ roofing companies, I decided to go with Tekline. About a month after I bought my house, I noticed a water spot on my living room ceiling. I needed a new roof for my peace of mind. I met with CJ to go over the estimate, what was involved/covered and financing options. He was very professional, polite and answered all my questions (even after our initial meeting). I didn't feel pressured or rushed at any time (unlike with some other roofing companies). When we finalized the paperwork, it was a couple weeks before the job actually started. Victor and his crew were AMAZING! They started on a Monday morning, before any of the actual supplies arrived, and I had a finished roof Tuesday by 2pm. Victor answered my questions, they cleaned up thoroughly and made sure I was happy when they were done. They worked through a bit of rain towards the end even. We found Tekline Roofing after reading through Yelp reviews. We needed new gutters and a roof. Booking an appointment for an estimate was a breeze via the website. They reached out to us right away and CJ came spot on time. He was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. CJ presented us with roofing choices with a variety of colors, made practical suggestions, and even discussed replacing our skylights and putting in a rain barrel. Unlike other roofing companies I called, Tekline was able to start the job within the week which was important to us. We discussed additional details with Neil, the production manager. The crew arrived on time and the roof and gutter work was done within 3 1/2 business days or so. Everyone we dealt with at Tekline was responsive and professional. The only issue we had was when the job was done, there were debris and nails remaining on the roof and grounds. After the final walkthrough with CJ, we had to wait a few more days before the final clean-up was performed. All in all, the experience with Tekline was positive. read more
