On Oct 31, Chet's Roofing received an "Invitation to Bid" on my extensive roof replacement & drywall repair project from the King County Housing Repair Program (Chet's is on their "approved contractors" list). Finally, after two weeks' worth of several back n' fourth calls and rescheduling appointments, Shane from Chet's finally made it out to my house. Showed up without the drywall guy Alex though (who said he didn't have the appt. on his schedule) so I called the office and was told Alex would come out the next day. He did show, after I called the office AGAIN, and was over 30 min. late. That was on Nov 13. Since then, the KCHRP rep I'm working with and I have been GHOSTED and we never received any estimates for the work that would be done. All of that time spent for NOTHING. read more

Look at all of the reviews. They have quite a few -ones already. It looks like enough people to get together a class action lawsuit. Chet's roofing put a new roof on my home about three years ago and it leaked after this last storm. The owner came out and was here for five minutes and denied any wrongdoing and stated it was because there was a new counter flashing put on, which they were supposed to do "if needed". They don't respond to complaints, they sent a roofing consultant who said they should've put on the counterflashing and that was their error, that he's suggest they install one and they never followed up. Their worker broke a gutter downspout while here by stepping on it and now they claim he didn't do that. They are recorded audio and video on my security and are blatantly lying and so now I have to hire an attorney to sue them. They don't stand by their work. The owner physically threatened me on my property and doesn't stand by his work. I deal with contractors all day for work. I was new to the area when I hired them but I warn people about them now when people I know get quotes from them. They've shown me they can't be trusted. Not worth saving any money, with an owner and business that has unethical behavior ! read more

we had an emergency leak repair in our roof. chets quoted $750. because it was Sunday. we agreed and the roofer also quoted us $750. I was surprised to get a bill for $850. when I questioned the $100 difference I was told they were sorry but they made a mistake (two different people?) but the price remains $850. I feel this was very dishonest and should have stayed with the $750 quote over $100 they lost the job of replacing the roof and earned this review. read more

We had Chet's come out to perform an emergency repair after the January windstorm. We asked for them to replace the shingles that had blown off and perform an assessment for additional damage. They went up on the roof for about 3 mins, told us they had made the repair, and provided no report/assessment on whether more work needed to be done. Then they billed us $450. Fast forward a few weeks, and we find new shingles on the ground. We called our insurance company who was able to refer us to a different roofer. They just came by and took pictures of the horrible repairs made to our roof by Chet's. It was determined that the roof is "failing and not reparable". Our insurance company agreed, and now another roofing company will be getting the business of our full roof replacement. Don't ever work with Chet's. Shoddy/rushed worked exploiting people during an "emergency". read more

We recently had our chimney sweeped and started up our wood burning fireplace a few days later to find water showing up on the tiles above the fireplace - we could hear water dripping from the roof when we went out into the garage. It was Sunday night, but Chet's answered, and we had assurance that someone would be out the next day to inspect. They kept their word; we found out that there had been long-standing damage in the chimney area, and water had finally started to leak. The price was reasonable, the repairs made in a timely fashion and to our satisfaction. They were prompt, communicative and we would call them back again. Chet's Roofing was referred as someone that would be in the area to come out and repair a leak in my roof. Called Chet's and they sent out a service guy (who was very nice), he spent about 10 mins inspecting and came back with pictures of what he believed to be the issue. He said that my down drain was too high and it was causing water to splash up and go behind the flushing. The recommend fix was to put sealant on the flushing and then increase the length of the down drain. Sounded like a reasonable fix, so i asked for the price and he said $850. I told him it sounded a little unreasonable for the scope of work to be done. He said i should take that up with Chet which i did and his response was "the price is what it is, and if we have to come out and fix again that will cost us and that i should call someone else to do the job". I understand that in these times people want to make money but this just seems like this company is willing to take advantage. Will take Chet's advice and find another company read more

My realtor provides names of contractors she's vetted. I've used about 10 of her recommendations and they've all been stellar - and I'm a VERY picky lady. Chet's Roofing was no exception. I was set on putting in a skylight to get more light into my home, so I contacted Chet's Roofing through their website. Linda from Chet's called me within 24 hours, and sent Lucas out w/in a day or two to look at my home. Lucas was running a little late due to traffic. He called me to let me know that was the case and his estimated arrival time, which I appreciated. Lucas took his time and did a lot of measuring, inspecting, explaining and showing me how/where a skylight could be placed and the ramifications of each option. He discussed roof pitch, architectural styles, placement, lighting angles, the 'tunnel effect,' and options. I knew nothing about skylights and he explained and showed me visually how the skylight would look from the interior, how it would function, and all in layman's terms which I could understand. What he said all made good sense. He also explained why he loves working for Chet's and appreciates their business practices. I am blown away at his honesty and transparency. This guys knowledge base is phenomenal. Lucas emailed a quote to me the next morning. No hard sell, just information. Chet's Roofing is most fortunate to have Lucas on their team. As much fun as it was almost being t-boned at 40 mph by your company's truck yesterday as they ran a very red light in Kent I am more than disappointed that your company couldn't even care enough to call me back to discuss it. I waited all day yesterday to speak to a manager about the absolute reckless behavior that would have no doubt totalled my new truck and severely injured myself and my little girl on her way to preschool. Not only did he do all that but then he ran through a construction zone running over cones to avoid another accident. He wouldn't stop. Wouldn't say sorry. Had no care that he almost hurt so many people due to his negligence. That is what drives this companies trucks. The owners/management won't even call to get info about the incident. If this is what they stand for do you trust them on your roof? I wouldn't! read more

When it came time to replace my mother's asphalt roof I solicited the obligatory "3 bids". Having had my own roof replaced by Chet's and extremely satisfied with their work I was sure to get a bid from them. I requested the exact same roofing material in all 3 bids. The first two bids were effectively the same and both were for tear off and disposal, new felt, and new asphalt roofing and repair chimney flashing. Anything else discovered after the old roof was removed would be extra. Chet's noted that the old underlayment was planked fir and had been severely chipped out from previous nailing. Their bid was only $200.00 higher than the other two bids, HOWEVER, it included complete 5/8" sheathing, new edge trim, new edge vents, all NEW chimney flashing and their price was final!! Cleanup was great, they were on the job as scheduled and finished as scheduled. We couldn't have asked for more! read more

Chet's roofing showed up each day on time and ready for work. They actually came a day earlier than originally scheduled (the called first to confirm that was okay) and quickly tore off the old roofing materials, installed new plywood and paper and then the shingles. It took a half day to remove the old roofing (780 square foot home) and a full day to install the new materials. They cleaned up after themselves each day and we are very satisfied with the outcome. read more

We had a roof leak after this last rain storm. We had Chet's come out to find the problem. I showed the guy where the water leak was on our ceiling. Explained, my husband was up in the attic and could see where the water was coming in and asked him if he needed to see where the access to the attic is. He said no. He would just get on the roof. After about 10mins he came back and told me water was getting in around 3 roof vents. Wanted $700+ to repair them. THEN the estimate came later that day. He actually wanted $4200!!!! No way. We had another company come out today. He went in the attic then went on the roof and was able to find the exact spot of the leak. He pulled up a few shingles and found the huge wet moldy spot.....no where near any of these vents that were supposedly the problem. My advice....get another opinion!!! read more

Initial roof replacement completed by Chet's Roofing in Sept, '99. No problems since, other than moss which we controlled. Recently developed leek which stained ceiling. I contacted Chet's, not even sure if they were still in business, they came out promptly, raced up to the roof, applied goo (; affixed flashing, etc. all at NO charge. Hopefully this will fix the problem, we'll determine during next big rain. I would definitely do business with/recommend Chet's roofing in the future. read more

I was referred to Chet's Roofing after finding shingles in my back yard. Upon inspection I was told I needed a new roof or pay $2000 for spot repair. FYI my roof is only 7 years old! I got a second opinion and was told, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ROOF but the neighbors were having issues! I find this alarming. Either this company is a bunch of crooks or they went to the wrong house. Ill let you be the judge of that but my business is going elsewhere. BAD COSTUMER SERVICE!!! Jeff, who came to do the estimate was so nice and detailed on what's going on with our roof. Then we went there last week to schedule it to get fix and sign the contract. They scheduled it for Thursday or Friday. I called at 0820 to confirm if they are coming today or tomorrow and the receptionist said Saturday. I told her that I can't Saturday it should be today or tomorrow cause I have taken off for this. They said they will call Friday to confirm. I called them around 1000 to confirm the appointment so that I can get my day plan if they are coming or not but Chrissy was so rude and raising her voice to me. She also just hang up on me telling she will tell the bosses and doesn't want to deal with this. My husband called them again to check but Chrissy did the same thing being rude and raising her voice. I would not recommend them at all!!! read more

I called Chet's based on reviews from Yelp. Yury were very quick to come out and give me an estimate and I was impressed with his speedy quote. The price was great too. That was where the great service stopped. They did not contact me to let me know what was going on. I had to contact them to find out when my roof was scheduled to be done and once it was finally scheduled I had to contact them for updates on when it would be finished. They said it would be a 1 day job, but it turned into a 4 day job because they only worked for a short period of time each day. They damaged the siding and the trim on my house and I had to contact them again to have them repair the damages they caused. I even had to contact them to find out about doing a final walk through and to give them payment. Chet's assistant Christina was very unprofessional and rude when my husband and I called to get things taken care of. She said many times she would call us back and she never did. I would not use Chet's Roofing again. read more

We got an estimate from Chet's based on a referral from the contractor doing our interior work. Their estimate was prompt and reasonable, but had pages of exclusions and limitations attached to the contract. Then, we asked them to come out to repair a leak that sprang up while we were getting estimates. Plus: they were very prompt in coming out and repairing the problem (loose shingles). Minus: the two guys who came out were drunk. It didn't apparently affect the repair work, but made me wary of using them for the entire job. read more

I had my roof changed by Chet's roofing and construction in November 2015, and the experience was a nightmare. 1. To begin with, they wanted to change my roof when it was raining cats and dogs. I researched online and found out that it is absolutely a bad idea. I asked the crew lead: "isn't a bad idea to install roofs in the rain?" He said, well my boss sent me. You should talk to him. So he gave me the owner's phone number (Chet). Chet agreed not to do the work in that day and hung up. It alarmed me that this company does not hold their customers' best interest in what they do. 2. The delivery company delivered the roofing materials by an 18 wheeler truck and a crane. The truck made a large hole in the concrete of my driveway. The driver told me that he had warned Chet that this driveway will be damaged, but Chet instructed him to do it anyway! When Chet and his assistant showed up to see the damage. He was agitated, hostile, and unreasonable, telling me: If your driveway was new this would have not happened! Why didn't you change your driveway a few years ago? I am not responsible for damage done by a third party, etc. 3. There were overcharges of $1177.0 on my bill that I caught and they fixed. a. An additional charge for pipe & cap where it was already in the contract as part of the bid. b. Was charged for 60 plywood sheets where I had counted them to be 42 and 10 of which were not used and taken back by the crew. Somehow then Chet was able to verify the count I gave him by a 2-second call and change the bill! However, the unused 10 sheets were ignored. 4. Finally, Chet offered to pay $800.00 for the concrete damage to which I agreed. Then after weeks gone by, he sent me an agreement to sign that if I promise not to write any negative reviews about Chet's roofing and construction then he will pay the compensation! And of course, I did not agree to it, and they did not pay for the damage. 5. The roof installation was not done properly. The Certainteed Presidential shake composition - which comes in multi-layers with some raised sections - should have been installed in such a way to create a uniformed pattern on the roof. But it is not the case of my new roof and even many raised sections are side by side in parallel rows! The standard of work quality and integrity of business conduct is as good as its owner's values. This business is only concerned to move to the next job as fast it can. That's all. read more

Funny that I come on here to type a review and the EXACT Sam situation has already been spoken about! I was driving into a right turn lane with a person in Chet roofing truck cut me off and nearly clipped the front end of my car! When I called to talk to someone about it the owner called me back calling me a LIAR and telling me how his two witnesses saw me driving crazy and speeding but yet I was already on the turn lane when I had to slam on my brakes and swerve out of the way! The owner then hung up on me and told me to do whatever I want when I mentioned the better business bureau, unfortunately the owner of this business has NO customer service skills and doesn't like to own up to their own faults! read more

I hired Chet's roofing company for two jobs. The first job went fine but they overcharged me by $3,000 on the 2nd job. On the day of the 2nd job, they called me and told me that unless they replaced the ply-wood they won't honor the warranty on contract that we had signed and agreed to. I was put in a tough spot because they had taken of the roof already and if it were to start raining, the house would be exposed. I was also told that they would put on over 70 ply-wood but my total count was 58. They ended up charging me over $3,000 extra. I tried to reason with the owner but he was unwilling to listen and threaten to put a lien on my property. I would not use them again. Be careful to all home owners..... read more

We had Chet's rip up and install a new flat roof in 2011. Originally we were impressed with the work, cleanup and customer service. They also offer a lifetime warranty on their work. Over the course of the last 2 years we have had to call them out 5+ times to fix leaks in the roof. When we first started calling - their customer service was great - they came out to fix the leak fairly quickly and were nice to work with. After the repeated call outs to the house for the repair, we had the owner come out to look at a more permanent fix/replacement. He tried to say that our problem was that their was no insulation installed, and that he wasn't responsible for that - when we showed him the contract that clearly said that they were supposed to put in insulation, and that insulation was actually installed, he quickly changed his tune, and made up some other reasons for the issue. This felt very deceitful and hence the reason for the low rating. We still have not been able to get the roof repaired. They are supposed to come out this week and I will post another review again if the problem is corrected. read more

Chet's Roofing and Construction put a metal roof on my home and installed the ridge cap improperly. I have water damage throughout the house. Also, some non-sealing screws were used under the flashing. Four years of complaining was wasted, another roofer found the problem in twelve minutes. Chet lost in small claims court but now has defaulted on the judgment. I have opened a case in Superior court. If you have a problem with Chet's Roofing, expect no satisfaction. read more

I am extremely pleased with this company! I saw their truck in my neighbors driveway, putting on a new roof. I went and talked to the neighbors and they were thrilled with the company. I contacted them and they came out the next day and provided an estimate. I already had two estimates and they came in lower than those (one of them was supposed to be a good buddy discount through a family member's friend). We scheduled it and they came out and performed the work promptly and professionally!. A couple days later the owner, Chet came out and did a final inspection. He found three things (all minor) that he did not like about the job. He made a guy come out the next day and fix them. I selected Chet's Roofing last December out of a list of 4 - all within a close price range - a $30k job!. Work proceeded on time but I called them back because they used white drip edge on the brown roof. They came back and painted it brown. I have noticed a lot of debris including nails on the ground and my downspouts were clogged. But 2 days ago, I called because I was getting a leak on the first floor (2 story bldg) but only when it rained. I was told Chet would meet me between 12:30 and 1PM the following day. Yesterday, I waited until 1:30PM to call the office and was told something had come up. I was asked could we reschedule for next Tuesday? I am very disappointed that they didn't at least call me when they knew they couldn't make our appointment. read more

I had a total of 4 bids to replace my existing shingles AND I needed my chimney tuck-pointed, The job consisted of removing 3 layers, putting down plywood, installing new vents and putting on new shingles. The first guy was from the big company with the high pressure salesman. He told me how wonderful and drug free their company was and my chimney needed to be disassembled and rebuilt. He gave me a bid of $19,000 w/o the chimney. Then he pulled the oldest trick in the book by saying the price of the shingles were going up in 2 weeks so I had better act fast ( and give him some money!!) Bids #2 and #3 were good and very similar...about $15,000 w/o the chimney. Chet's Roofing was the best price which included the chimney and it was a few thousand less!!!...for the exact same shingles. ( and the price was NOT going up in 2 weeks!) So, I went with Chet's. We got the best job at the best price. The whole experience from beginning to end was so good. First the guys came to tuck point the chimney...which is all that was needed. Did a great job. That next Monday morning the workers pulled off 3 layers in the hottest day of the year...and they worked their tails off. The entire process was one day which included the new plywood. the shingles arrived that evening around 5 PM and they were delivered right to the roof. Next day, they arrived and by 2 PM it was done, cleaned up and it looked as though they had never been there......except for our incredible new roof!! If there was a box for 6 stars they'd get it. Also they came out 2 days later to see if there was anything that was missed or any concerns I had. There was a little cement residue left on some of the bricks so the rep got up there right then and there and fixed it. Great service. All in all I'd say Chet's Roofing is the best company to have fix your roof and I'd recommend them in a New York minute. read more

I used Chet's for a siding leak that involved complex exterior carpentry (replacing sheathing, deck stairs, cedar siding), and roof repairs. I've used them for deck boards replacement, interior drywall repair, painting, and electrical work (they subcontracted electricians). Although they can be a bit pricey compared to some others, they have been the best contractors I've used as far as responding to requests for bids, listening to my concerns, showing up when they say they will, bringing the right tools and workers for the job, and doing quality work. They explain things to me when I'm there and clean up the job site at the end of each day. Whenever I have had any questions or concerns, they have always responded to them very quickly. I have been very happy with Alex and Andre's team which is who I have mostly worked with for the type of projects I have had. Overall I will continue to use Chet's for this type of work because no one else I have worked with comes close to their level. read more

They were low pressure in the bid process, very agreeable to making changes to the bid and working with the office staff as well as the installers was wonderful. They've done 8 houses before mine in my neighborhood and they are fast (mine was done in 2 days) and they do not spike their jobs (meaning they do not multi-task their labor across many houses).
