Hired to reroof our home in December 2021. The project manager Antonio came out to do the bid, didn't say much besides taking measurements but he was very friendly. Received an emailed quote the next day with everything broken out. Not the first roof I've replaced so really appreciated just getting the information and not a huge sales pitch about how they're better than everyone else. Crew came out and did the roof in two days in the rain! They did a great job, although finishing in the dark felt rushed on the second day and would have preferred them to finish during the day for cleanup purposes, but I understand when it gets dark at 4:30. Mears sent a TPO specialist out the next day to seal a dead valley above our garage. Very professional and did a great job sealing a leak we had. Antonio came back and made a punch-list of things for the crew to fix which were accomplished no problem and felt good having them come back to check on the project. Hired Mears because of the great reviews and would do it again! They quoted a great price for the product I wanted (GAF, TPO in valley, and a fascia replacement) and were very professional with fast responses from the office. Only issues were minor; quite a bit of nail and plastic debris left around the site, their truck left a fairly large oil spot on the driveway (washed away now), and they cleaned the gutters out with a leaf blower. Very effective to clean the gutters, but left all the windows streaked and dirty. If you're wanted a roof replaced, do yourself a favor and add Mears to a shortlist for quotes! read more

We noticed when we were about to pressure wash our deck a week ago that there was water damage on the new plywood that was installed.. We called Mears Roofing to come out to see what was causing this. Well, we can definitely say Mears Roofing stands behind their roof warranty & work.. We had Mears do our roof last March and I have waited all this time to tell you all that the roof has done it's job! One year later it hasn't leaked and it looks great. I don't expect it to have any issues anytime soon because I was really impressed by my installer. He was a really nice guy and worked his tail off until the job was done. We are very happy with Mears roofing. They were knowledgeable, easy to work with, and careful. They removed old roofing, took down part of a failing chimney and replaced with a vent, replaced all vents and any rotten plywood, added plywood to garage because it only had tongue and groove, and then laid new HD shingles. Buyer beware - Character concerns! I should have read all or reviews before calling. Overall they have a high rating but you can learn something from the bad reviews. Ben Mears, the owner, came to our house to provide a quote. We were looking at potential roof issues and venting needs due to water damage and mold in our attic. Ben affirmed what our adjuster told us, we had a perfectly good roof. He then proceeded to degrade other roofing companies unsolicited. Red flag #1 for me. He did tell us we needed more vents as we also knew. Recognizing he is likely dealing with larger jobs for roofs, I asked if he would be willing to give us a bid on the number of vents needed and do the work. He said 'absolutely but it will be a month or two out if that is ok.' That was fine with us based on reviews we wanted good work even if we had to wait. The next day we get an email from the office manager Ericka telling us we would not bid any of the work and recommending another company. Assuming there was a miscommunication I called and emailed Ben. He did not reply to my email or voicemail. Next I called the author of the email Ericka and left a message. I received a call back from another person reiterating Ericka's email. Ultimately neither Ben nor Ericka would speak to me as they hid behind office staff to decline original agreement. The message I have for you is beware - this is a character issue when someone will lie to you and then is unwilling to have a conversation. They put down the competition (slimy) and in the end I learned that they are unethical and weak of heart, mind and spine. Keep looking, there are a lot of other great companies out there! Do not risk Ben's bad character costing you time and money. *** Update **** Wow this is just to hard to pass up after reading 'the response. Validates my review - but I would now add unethical. Ben did not meet with Mrs. Warren just Mr. Warren. Oh petty and insincere office manager work on your people skills and check with the owner before validating your poor customer service skills for all to see. The owner met with just Mr. Warren and acknowledged no roof was needed, after putting down competition. Which we already knew. We needed roof vents and after requesting a bid and asking if they would do it. Ben affirmed they would but it would be a month or two. How said this business is. I tried to call both Ben and Ericka neither would return my call instead made the very nice receptionist play the phone game and pass on messages. You are not just of poor character but also a liar if this input cam from Ben. Can't speak to the product, but the people say it all. If I only knew it took a Yelp posting to get a response from those you initially sought. This response truly validates my complaint and apparently struck a nerve. We received quotes from several different companies and went with Mears because they quoted a great price, the staff who helped us were lovely, and they were very timely with their responses (whether by phone or email). They also answered my many questions (first time home owner) :) We were scheduled to start during a snowy week, so we had to reschedule a few times, but they always gave us a heads up and kept us in the loop regarding timing. Once they had settled on a day to start, the job only took one day and it looks amazing! I was nervous about getting bids to re-roof my house and reached out to a few local companies with mixed results. Mears gave me an honest assessment that my roof actually was good for another 7 years! The only issue was chimney flashing that needed to be redone and he suggested a good cleaning and moss repellent. I felt confident to schedule the project. Two weeks before my scheduled day I received a phone call asking if the crew could come earlier and my day was moved up! BONUS! Mears performed the work on the house but it appeared the garage was not cleaned as expected. I contacted Mears to clarify and Jackie Mears emailed me that night and assured me the crew would be out first thing the next morning to finish and apologized for the missed communication. I was really impressed with the prompt communication and the prompt resolution. The house and garage look amazing! We had our house re-roofed with Mears after receiving several quotes from companies large and small with email and in person quotes. They where surely not the low bidder but that wasn't the deciding factor. We had them complete the work while we were on vacation so I can't speak for the crew during construction but we came home to everything cleaned up looking great. I think they even cleaned the gutters for us with the new roof. We set a walk through and someone came out and assessed the roof, they had a few things come up including repairing the skylight installation, replacing a section of flashing/coping metal that was in a few separate sections and I wanted a single sheet and changed a sheet of cheaper OSB for plywood at the awning where we had a leak. They even checked in on the roof a year after the install. My only issue is it seems after re-setting the skylight twice, it seems to still be a problem with noise coming in. The first time they didn't put in the weather strip. I don't know what the issue is now. read more

During construction, they discovered that the roof was not up to code due to the house built during the 60's and finding rotting wood in parts of the roof. Mears roofing was able to give me a reasonable quote. They were able to start as soon as possible which was important to us due timeline of other projects happening in our house. They also gave us a solution to our built in gutter which we did not want to remove due to its architectural detail. After getting various bids, 5 total of which 2 from GAF Approved contractors, I'm glad I picked Mears Roofing. My job included a pitched roof and a flat top. Both were stripped to the original plywood. Flat roofing also used approved GAF product. Under payment for pitched roof was GAF TigerPaw which was a grade up from other competitors. There was a siding problem due to improper flashing installment. I left a VM on a Saturday and within 3 hours I got a call back from Ben Mears to discuss this issue. I sent Ben some pictures who called back with a game plan. Siding was fixed professionally on Thursday. read more

Back in 2014 we had Mears Roofing replace our roof. We did a competitive bidding where a handful of companies spoke to us about options and prices and we were most impressed with Mears and their prices were solid as well. They explained things well and didn't talk down to me. They were willing to discuss the pros and cons of different options and allowed me to chose as I wanted and helped me make choices to get the best I could for the money I had. Part of their selling points were they guarantee their work and would come back to fix thing as needed if anything came up. That year there was a big wind storm that looked like it disturbed some of the gutters and shingles and they came out very quickly and with no charge to ensure it was fine. Fast forward to the last few weeks (07/2018) where a corner of the roof started to sag, and the gutter detached from the fascia board. I called them and asked about having someone come take a look. Today (8/13/2018) they showed up and fixed it free of charge despite it not being directly connected to their roofing job. Their worker also walked me through how this might be a continued problem and my different options to get a permanent fix if it is and the best ways to maintain it in the mean time.
