Their subcontractors were respectful, professional, and very considerate of our existing home. The design phase was one of the highlights. Working with Mitzi and Lindsey was a dream. They toured us through a recently completed unit, walked us through flooring, roofing, and cabinet samples, and followed up with a detailed breakdown of everything we selected. When I was unsure about paint colors, they literally showed up with paint boards and samples so we could see them in person. That level of care is rare. When we had our home built 40+ years ago, we were young and figured that a 2 story house would fit our needs for the rest of our lives. Fast forward to a few years ago and after watching the physical decline of our parents, we decided that remodeling our home to accommodate our aging in place plans was just what we needed. Enter Gordon T Jacob. I had drafted a plan for an addition on our first floor that would add a new primary bedroom with en suite bath and walk in closet. The one existing downstairs bedroom would be repurposed as an office with a new laundry room to be added. I contacted Gordon T Jacob with my design and received a very prompt reply. A plan for the project was developed and we elected to move forward. Once the plans and permits were in place, construction moved forward and was completed as planned and projected. Chris and Mitzi have been great to work with. Mitzi's design and layout of the new bathroom turned out beautifully, making for a stunning space. Christopher was the superintendent on the project and he really tied it all together, coordinating all of the subcontractors so that the project was completed on time as projected. Gordon T Jacobs' team is great! They were able to somehow maximize every detail that we wanted of our remodel and come right on budget. GTJ are extremely responsive to questions and provide brilliant solutions to complex challenges. They also delivered the keys to the house on time. They are extremely adept at coordinating the various teams of subcontractors that are part of a remodel and kept us constantly up to date on all progress. They used quality subcontractors that were hard working and did an excellent job. With seamless ease we watched our house completely gutted and rebuilt all the aspects of the house. The details like the coved ceilings are incredible, and they were able to keep our home's historical character while bringing it up to current modern standards. Chris was great at bringing the concept to a brilliant design that encompassed all our desired wants within a home. GTJ are outstanding in the design process, collaborating with us the entire time. We recently had the pleasure of working with the team at Gordon T Jacob for our home renovation project. Our experience with the team was great, they managed and executed the project very well and the results are excellent. Our house was built in 1991 and had never been updated, with many quirky elements and poorly used spaces. Chris and Mitzi helped us give the entire home a refresh, including all-new flooring, paint, 3 bathrooms, doors, and a show-stopping new kitchen. We absolutely love living in our new space; it feels like a totally new house! Throughout the project, Chris and team brought knowledge and expertise, and the project was smooth and easy. The budgeting process was communicative and collaborative; we were able to identify the high priority and custom items we wanted to invest in and then find other opportunities to simplify and save, so we could maximize our budget and create our ideal home. Chris was so helpful in guiding this process, he has a design eye and a deep understanding of the sub-contractors, processes, and tradeoffs needed to bring our big ideas to life. The team also excels in the project planning and daily to day management, which is critical to the success of any construction project. Everything was managed really well, and our large-scale 2-phase project has been largely on budget and on time, which is a huge accomplishment in itself! Chris did a great job anticipating all the elements and needs, and setting a realistic timeline. Our project manager Christopher Jr was outstanding, super communicative and on the ball with all the pieces that needed to come together. We really appreciated the level of care, it was a true team effort and family affair, and we had such a great experience. Our renovation project was comprehensive - nothing had been updated. We wanted to make it more contemporary style throughout, replace all the cherry wood trim and teal carpet, refresh the bathrooms, and totally reinvent the kitchen. In the first phase we updated the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, with new carpet and paint, and two fully updated bathrooms. We love the new custom showers and beautiful tile work in the bathrooms, and whole upstairs space looks and feels so much better. In phase two we updated the downstairs living area, laundry, guest bathroom and kitchen. The transformation is amazing! The old kitchen was so wonky and not functional, with lots of weird shapes and no drawers. Chris brought in an outstanding kitchen designer to create a completely reimagined space with a better layout, more storage, way more function - and it's gorgeous! The quality of the cabinets, and the craftsmanship of the cabinet install and all the trim and doors, are outstanding. Our home has a lot of challenging corners and they did a great job finishing everything to a high standard. We also updated the flooring, from a mix of wood and carpet to a new manufactured wood, and we are very happy with the material and the installation. We designed a custom herringbone style in the entryway, and Chris and his flooring vendor worked hard to find us the right product at the right budget, and it came out beautifully. Chris and Mitzi did an amazing job on our bathroom renovation in terms of planning, design, and execution. We had a relatively small space to work with and a few non-standard requests (heated towel racks, bidet toilet attachments). They helped us envision a new more open bathroom layout, incorporate desired features like heated floors and floating vanities, and worked with us to pick out countertops, tiles, paints, fixtures, vanities, and shelves that complemented each other. Three aspects of their work impressed me in particular: (1) the team, (2) the communication, and (3) the lack of surprises. In terms of team, they put together a really great set of experienced people to carry out the renovations (framers, tile installation). In terms of communication, we collaborated to come up with a detailed plan for the renovations even before signing contracts. We communicated on a daily basis during the renovations, so that expectations, schedules, and costs were agreed upon upfront. As a result of the great planning from the team, there were no surprises during the actual renovation process. Of course, there are always unexpected delays from suppliers and deliveries these days. But Chris managed to adjust the schedule as needed in order to efficiently schedule the work. We couldn't be happier with our new bathrooms, and really appreciate all of the hard work that the Gordon T Jacob team put into improving our home. read more

I purchased a house from Gordon T. Jacobs in 2018. Not only were they (secretly) personally involved with my real estate agent and inspection company, but they are straight out crooks. I have documentation from the sale of the house that states "No Asbestos" is at the property. Keep in mind there are three options, yes, no, and don't know. They installed brand new linoleum flooring over top of 500 square feet or so of my home. A flood to the icemaker caused us to have to pull this up and find the old flooring. It is 80% asbestos, and absolutely everyone I've spoken with has been able to identify it is asbestos by inspecting it physically. The original fuse box was upgraded to a breaker box by an unlicensed "electrician" and there were multiple connections where they jumpered the new box to the old box that were loose and had to be repaired the day that I moved in. It is my strong opinion that this was concealed intentionally. If it was not intentional it shows how poor Gordon T. Jacob's is at their "profession". Do not do business with these people, they are liars and thieves. read more
