After buying an old house in my dream location, I had to find a GC who could help me build my dream home. I talked to no less than 5 GCs and after looking at the proposals I decided to go with Wise Choice Construction, and it was arguably one of the best decisions I ever made. I am a "measure twice and cut once" type of guy so early planning was a big part of my selection criteria. From the first day, Wise Choice set themselves apart from the others because their quote went into a level of detail that gave me confidence that their numbers were rooted in reality and not hand-wavy estimates that could balloon over time and destroy my budget. As someone whose day time job involved planning and executing on large projects, I was quite concerned about stories of GCs taking twice as long and costing twice as much so the planning details were very important for me. I also appreciated the fact that Daniel (their estimator) was super transparent about the areas where cost could potentially spill over and what the upper bound for that may look like. But above all, I loved the fact that their estimates were very formulaic and allowed me to reasonably price out any changes I wanted to make to the original proposal. Overall, their transparency in their process allowed me to put together a plan that gave me the highest ROI for my budget. Next came the execution, which involved tearing down a 3300sqft home and rebuilding it into a 4400sqft home. The demolition went fast so we started the construction, and this is where I want to give them shoutouts for their craft. The structural engineer on this project happened to be my cousin so I was fortunate enough to have someone who can keep a close eye on the work and give me an objective evaluation of the construction quality. My cousin was quite impressed with Wise Choice and he especially appreciated how they reached out to him for structural details in areas where they could have arguably taken short cuts (at potentially lower cost to themselves) but Sergiy (my project manager) made sure that no suboptimal choices were made at the expense of quality. I often feel that the biggest risk to craft comes from what happens when noone is looking. It's the stuff that happens out of sight and that is deeper in the foundations that concerns me the most. With Wise Choice, I always felt that they could be trusted to maintain a really high bar for quality at every level of the project and that was something I felt gave me peace of mind then and still gives me peace of mind living in this house today. I actually got to know a lot of the guys over the course of the project and I eventually learned that most of them are people of faith (I know that sadly doesn't always mean much these days) and it was refreshing to see how honest and forthcoming they were in every conversation I had with them. My foreman Bogdan was a rockstar and he was probably a little stressed at times from my obsession with timelines and such, but I couldn't have asked for someone a better person to oversee the day-to-day for this project. We broke ground on my house in Feb and I moved in with my family 10 months later. Objectively speaking, this was a month or so behind schedule but I always felt the original timelines we had were hyper ambitious to begin with so I was thrilled with how fast we completed the project. I'm also very proud of the fact that we were able to keep the project 1M+ construction project just 25k over budget, which speaks to both how good the original estimates were and how well managed the entire project was end-to-end. The project drew the admiration of many neighbors for how quickly it was completed, and they actually got at least two more gigs in my community following the completion of my house. WCC wasn't the cheapest, ended up being somewhat in the upper-middle of the bids, but they by far had both the most reviews and massively positive review scores. After working with them and them completing my project, I can say that I did not choose wrong. WCC was easy to schedule and communicate with. The two-person crew arrived during the morning window that we agreed upon. The crew was polite, kept the site clean, and was minimally invasive. They were adaptable as unanticipated challenges arose, completed the project ahead of schedule, and were great with following up and even coming back to do some paint touch-ups after we had a few days to thoroughly inspect the results. In the end I give WCGC a 5, but during the process it was a 3, averging out to a 4. Overall they were on budget and the job itself was done well, however leading up to that it had some challenges. The PM assigned was not the most responsive, often scheduling things the day of and notifying us with short notice that important things such as electrical, HVAC and other were scheduled. We had our garage expanded and were living in the house at the time of construction and they would cut the power without any notice, sever our internet line with us working from home and often make decisions without consulting first. The PM also quoted me for additional things, that upon review, were already in the original quote and it wasn't until after I reviewed the quote again and pointed them out to which he relented and did the work without requesting any additional money. It was originally a 1 month job that turned into 3 months, with me frequently calling them that it was raining outside and rain was coming inside my house. To their credit, each time I called someone came immediately. The bright star in the entire thing was Oleg, who can literally do anything. He was knowlegable, thoughtful and had a skillset to take on any task. The pain of interacting with the PM while trying to give my wife a schedule of what's to come was very troubling, but looking back now, they ended up doing a stellar job. The end was a bit difficult because the PM didn't keep a running tab of expenses, but certainly felt he needed to charge me more if anything even remotely fell out of scope. If they weren't on budget it would have been a painful reconciliation of what costs they actually incurred vs what they billed me. If they had a PM that knew how to proactively communicate, it would have been 5 stars all around. read more

In five days, this amazing company renovated my kitchen. Granite countertop tiles and backsplash were removed (including a black granite counter on my island), a tall bar wall was cut down, followed by framing of the new wall, measuring and placing Fairy White quartz slab on countertops and backsplash. The adjacent powder room was updated by removing and then placing the Fairy White quartz on the vanity counter. A new faucet and lighting was added. Also done was putting in a new sink, adding a button for my disposal, and putting in a larger slab of quartz on my island. The contractors and subs were all professional, detail oriented, and always intent on keeping the work space clean and tidy. I called a week ago to set up a time to get a bid from wise choice to renovate our home after water damage. They set a window of 1-2 pm for today. I took time off work to make this appointment and they no call-no showed. I called them twice (during business hours) to see what the deal was. Both times I was sent to voicemail telling me that someone from their team would get back to me in 24 hours. I've spent 4 hours waiting at my house that currently has no furnace and no hot water in 35 degree weather just to get stood up for an appointment they scheduled a week in advance. This business is non-responsive and very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone asking. It's rare I leave negative reviews online for any business, but this is beyond ridiculous. As you can see by other 1 star reviews here this seems to be their modus operandi. I waited an extra two hours and attempted to contact them multiple times. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't waste your valuable time with a company that doesn't value your business and lacks communication/punctuality. *Edit* I got a frantic call from their scheduler about 10 minutes after I posted this review. She was trying to explain she never put me on the schedule the day I called (literally a week ago). I let them know I didn't want apologies and that I was very unhappy that they wasted my time and then promptly hung up. So we've had dozens of contractors come out and give us bids on home and they wanted $150 just to show up to grace us with their presents to give us a quote. He was polite and was the first to respond but we've already had three contractors out and two of them have already given us bids in the time it took you to have one phone call with me. I gave very detailed specs in the email and he didn't read that and he asked me over the phone call to repeat the exact same thing. I hired Wise Choice Construction to remodel two bathrooms. For the master bath, they fully removed the existing standing shower, and rebuilt it - from basin and flooring to tiling, including creating two niche shelves in the shower wall and installing a new glass door. In the other bathroom, the tub/shower was completely removed, and Wise Choice installed a new bathtub and rebuilt the shower walls/tiling. The project also included installing hardware and new floor tiles. Roman did a large portion of the work in the master bath, and Peter joined him for the demolition and work on the second bathroom. The work Roman and Peter did is artistry - they were so thoughtful about the design before and during execution of the project. It took us 18-months to start our remodel due to Covid and finding just the right Quartzite. Victor the stone professional met us at two suppliers to analyze two choices. One had flaws we did not see. His fabrication was outstanding. We had two slabs. The backsplash had to be cut from the second one and blended within the countertop. His work is art. Our Estimater Daniel and project manager Sergiy both did an excellent job. I purchased all the materials myself which was fine with them. The foreman Vlad did the majority of the work. He's a magician figuring out how to do work arounds when needed. He's skills seem unlimited. WC work ethic is to the highest standards. As you might have figured out WC is a Ukrainian company. At the end of August 2020, an old PVC pipe burst underneath the main floor vanity in my home, sending warm water all over the floors in the bathroom, hallways, rear bedroom and into the family room and kitchen. Needless to say it was a disaster. After Roto-Rooter came out and pulled up the laminate wood floors, took out the vanity, demo'd some drywall, dried out the sub-floor and sealed off the plumbing, it was time to find a contractor to do the rest of the work. After going through the bidding process and talking about the project with 5 contractors, 4 of them eliminated themselves while one consistently stood out: WISE CHOICE CONSTRUCTION. Their project estimator, Daniel, was the only one that checked back with me to see where I was on their bid. No other contractor did that. My business was clearly important to him, and he made that abundantly clear with two follow ups. I did my background checks on Wise Choice and everything I saw was highly rated. I think the word 'awesome' is totally overused in our vernacular these days but when it is appropriate, as it was in this case, I have no qualms about using it to describe WISE CHOICE. They were FUCKING AWESOME. These guys were so professional, consistent and hard working I couldn't believe it. Everything they said they were gonna do, THEY DID, from start to finish. They came early and worked late, even asking to come in on Saturday's for a few hours to keep the project moving! My office sustained bad water damage from an overhead 12 gallon hot water tank. Ceilings, walls, flooring (vinal and carpet), cabinets, fixtures, you name it all water damaged and/or destroyed. It was awful. I reached out to about a half dozen licensed contractors for repair bids and selected Wise Choice Construction. I can't imagine there being a better selection. Wise Choice came out for the initial bid and then contacted me more to do follow up visits to check and re-check. This is even more amazing when I think back and remember that it was difficult getting other contractors out for one visit. Anyhow, we awarded the job to Wise Choice and they jumped on it immediately. They completely removed all flooring, damaged ceiling parts, trims, walls, everything and got right to work putting all of the pieces back together. They were here every day (M-F) until the job was done. Anytime I had a question they got back to me immediately. Moreover they worked directly with the insurance company and landlords.
