One of our favorite winery stops in Fredericksburg! All the wines in our flight were good. Would definitely be back if in the area.

I stopped in with some family to do a standard wine tasting. The inside of the store front was nice and clean, but the service here was terrible. The man who greeted us when entering and helped set us up with the wine tasting was friendly. He did a great job. I did not catch his name. Once we walked into the back room to start the tasting we quickly began to be borderline harassed to purchase a wine plan from Floy behind the counter. Half of the words that came out of her mouth were just ramblings about the wine club and why we should do it. Pushing back when we politely declined. I filled out my card to choose the wines I wanted to try, and Floy kept suggesting wines I could try and pouring me thimble sized glasses to sip. I incorrectly assumed she was being friendly and giving some free samples before the tasting. After getting through exactly 4 thimble sized pours of wines I never asked for (and rejecting her push to get me to purchase a wine plan), she suddenly stopped and just stared at us awkwardly asking if we were finished. I thought I still had MY selection for the 34 dollar wine tasting, but I was wrong. Wasn't even worth the argument, and I just left. Floy had the audacity to say to mention her name in a review after. Well, here you go Floy. Your service was not appreciated. Thanks for wasting my time and money. For anyone considering stopping here while visiting Fredericksburg, go elsewere. Plenty of other great places with better tasting wine, nice service, and for a cheaper price. read more

I would never come back here the older Caucasian lady who was serving our wine was SOOO RUDE! She was extremely disrespectful, I told the front desk of our encounter and the lady simply said oh I'm sorry about that have a great day. Also you get to stand up when there's several chairs open for the members regardless if 30 chairs are open they are only for members. read more

Staff not very friendly, ambience is ok but even the quality of wines for what you pay does not make sense. Grape Creek is such a great place to visit. The winery is beautiful and they have several different styles of wine featured on the property. The winerys ambiance feels so much like an Italian winery. My friend and I wanted a glass of wine while strolling main street and decided to pop into Grape Creek Winery. The inside of the store/ tasting room was well done and looked like a nice place to unwind for a bit. I walked to the counter in the tasting room and was ignored for the entire time I stood there so I went to the front and asked a woman how I could get help/ a glass of wine. It was then that I was informed that they don't offer single glasses to non-members and my only option was to buy a bottle to-go. This venue definitely didn't make us feel welcome as non-members and isn't a place I would want a membership at after this experience. A place to avoid when planning your trip. read more

The fact that they are getting less than 4.0 speaks volumes. Friends from California were in town and wanted to visit both local TEXAS wineries and some of the California wineries who have moved to California. I listened to the staff makes comments about Texas wines and Texas wines makers that were absolutely NOT true. There is in fact a female wine makers not 10 miles from Heath that has been making TEXAS SPARKLING WINE. In-house and owns her equipment. I also am a former member of two former wineries that were acquired by Grape Creek and dropped shortly after the sale. Your wine should stand for itself. Just as your staff should speak truth. I have never taken guest to Beckers or William & Chris and had a staff member misrepresent their wines or tarnish another winerie. I personally think Texas needs to crackers down on "who" can call themselves a vineyard, winery, and tasting room. Especially if they are not using Texas grapes. Grape Creek does make some great wines. I choose not to do business with them because of the way they run their business. And I am NOT ALONE. In the Fredericksburg area was this winery above and their service was not great. They served a whole group of people before us even though I was there before and I believe it's because I told him I was from California so if you're from Los Angeles or California don't do business with this winery. They don't need our money so don't give it to him really bad hospitality there. read more

So we were dropped off here on the 290 wine tour. The woman at the entrance was haughty and gave a stuck up kind of vibe. We were hungry and wanted to eat with our wine. SORRY, Only members can go to the restaurant. To see the property you had to pay for a tasting and tour. (if you weren't a member) to be a member you had to commit to buying three bottles of wine quarterly. So we couldn't do anything but wait for the bus to pick us up. Side note. Grape Creek is one of the nicest if not the nicest on the highway 290 wine shuttle tour. You have to be apart of their wine club for an exclusive patio area and special pricing. They have a very beautiful facility and fantastic wines. A lot of the wines were super easy to drink and they have a wide variety from red, white, and rose. Their tastings were a little pricey, it felt more like a sales pitch when we were there. They were trying to get us to join their wine club where they send out bottles of wines at a certain time of the year. Our bartender was very knowledgeable with all the wines we tried and very personable. Everybody treated us great and was professional. read more

First winery we visited in Texas was a winner. Well crafted wines from local vineyards. They also have a vineyard in Paso Robles that supplies some of their higher end wines. The tasting notes do not include the varietals for each wine. But in our case Floy was very knowledgeable about the wines and winery. read more

Horrible. Snooty "bouncer" at the front door. Informed me I couldn't buy a glass if I'm not a wine club member, but i could buy a bottle. Seriously? I sent an email to the company, and was told they're a "wine club winery" and "a country club for wine lovers" but they "want everyone to enjoy Grape Creek" and "love sharing their winery and wines with new guests so they can decide if they want to join the club". Pretty contradictory to me, as how can everyone love it if they can't try it, lol. Asinine. With the overwhelming choices of wineries in the area, I'll definitely not visit the actual Grape Creek Winery. I just can't wrap my head around a company that turns away business. read more

YOU WILL BE SIGNED UP FOR THEIR WINE CLUB. $400 TO $500 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR 3 BOTTLES OF WINE THAT ARE WORTH MAYBE $30 EACH. It's sad that the owners of this "so called vineyard" can only make a profit by scamming visitors. The owners should be ashamed. I think it's the Heaths that own Grape Creek. I asked them to refund me for 3 bottles of wine they shipped without me knowing, they sent an email to my girfriend. They refused to accept a refund on the wine and cited the agreement we signed at the tasting that we thought was for payment of the 3 bottles of wine we purchased during the tasting. Amazing ambiance. Great wine tasting . Katie was our expert that was so helpful, knowledgeable, friendly...we had a most lovely experience.

We booked a sparkling taste test here for $30 each and had a good time! The wines were good and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the hosts. We stood at the bar the whole time, but it would have been nice to have some seating options for the tasting. When we finished the sparkling tasting, we had a couple group members who were still on their last couple wines, but Mike very graciously offered us more samples based on our wine preferences (sweet, dry, fruity, etc.). We were able to get 3 wines for $29 total (original price of $100+) by signing up for the membership, which is cancellable at any time. The membership is essentially just purchasing wines at a discounted price online during their "season" (i.e. sparkling drop offs are during certain months). Rude service, they only care about you becoming a member. The wine isn't good at all, in fact, I ended up wasting most of it. They were really watered down or super bitter. The sweet wines were either overly sweet (just syrup) or they shouldn't be considered a sweet wine at all. $25 for a tasting of 3.... ridiculous in my opinion. You do get a fancy glass but $25 for not even an ounce of wine is insane. The place is really pretty, fancy, we felt special being in there... until we dealt with the workers. My mom even had an allergic reaction to one of the wines, no one seemed to care and in my opinion, that means they put something sketchy in their wine. Enter at your own risk, also, don't fall for the membership. It's a hassle to deal with. read more

3 years ago I was able to do a wine taste and buy a few bottles of wine and Porto. I went into just buy a few bottles of Porto wine which they denied me and stated it members only. They claimed it has been 7yrs since only members can buy which is a straight out lie. I would never recommend anyone to sign up for their membership. Plus I did get a racist vibe when I got denied purchase. Which many reviews online that I read who are Hispanic or black have similar experiences. read more

Taking my mother in law for Mother's Day to the wineries. Bartender older woman with white hair wouldn't serve us at all because my mother in law didn't want to drink so she felt uncomfortable drinking more. So the bartender didn't want to serve us? I seen a few reviews saying they where pushing the membership pretty hard but we did not feel like this our tour guide greg didn't put no pressure on us at all and even gave us alone time to discuss it. Even if we didn't get the membership the tour was definitely worth it and greg did a great job with our tour. He didn't make us feel out of place or lost as we a very new to wine. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. It was my first time going to Fredericksburg and trying out a wine tour with my girlfriend for my birthday celebration. I was recommended by a co-worker to check this place out so I took his recommendation. I booked the wine tour online and we took an Uber to the Winery. Once we got there, a lady greeted us at the front and her first words were "Are you wine club members?" I told her no but we had a booking for a wine tour. She let us know that the person doing the wine tour was running late and that we can wait for him. I then asked her were the restroom's were so we can go before the wine tour started. We went to the restroom and once we got out we saw the golf cart arrive to pick everyone up. We started walking in the direction of the golf cart but the driver sped off in a hurry leaving me and my girlfriend at the front. We told the lady at the front that the driver left us and why he didn't go over roll call to see if everyone was there. She said she would see if he could turn back to pick us up. We waited for about 15 minutes until a manger came over to us. The manager had the audacity to say we were late and that we didn't arrive on time which was a lie. I let him know that his driver for the tour was the one that was actually late. He then said that the tour was almost over and that we can just do the tasting even though we paid for the whole wine tour experience. I asked if he could get us on another tour or do something to help us out in this situation but he did nothing. Seeing how the manager and the lady handled the situation, I asked for a full refund for the wine tour. We left very disappointed even though we planned accordingly for this wine tour. Once the Uber driver picked us up, he recommended another winery to go to, once we let him know what happened, which was so much better then Grape Creek Winery. This winery ONLY caters to WINE MEMBERS, if you aren't a wine member they will treat you below the wine members and it shows. The manager could of rectified our situation and made it right but he didn't. You should not waste your time at this subpar winery with the worst service imaginable. There are so many other wineries in the area that will treat you right and help you out if it's your first time doing a wine tour. What's even worse is that it was for my Birthday celebration which they didn't even care. Make sure to take your business somewhere else. I would recommend going to Augusta Vin. After this disappointing experience at Grape Creek Winery, we left and the Uber driver recommended Augusta Vin. We got there and we were warmly welcomed. We got to hang out in the lounge area and taste different wines. We also took the wine tour at Augusta Vin as well and the driver didn't leave us. They actually checked to see if everyone was there. Dropped in for a tasting in a Tuesday! Wasn't busy at all so we were helped quickly. It's $25 per person for 4 wine samples, but they give you a list with descriptions and you choose which ones you want. The sommelier was very friendly and gave us great info on all the wines! I really liked getting to choose which wines I was trying. I even decided to take a bottle home since they do not sell to any major retailers. Decided to stop on our trip through Fredericksburg. The tasting room was inviting , the staff were friendly and our wait was not long. We tried multiple wines, not all were to our liking but , not everyone likes every wine. However we did find some we enjoyed. The interior was lovely , the murals on the wall are beautiful. Denise was our tasting server and she was an utter delight! It was my birthday and she made the day a treat!!! She offered wines that I would not traditionally try and a short discussion, and I loved them! She is a master at her craft. My husband and I have already decided to come back again next year because our experience with Denise and Grape Creek Winery was wonderful. I feel this vineyard deserves 5 stars if only for a few changes. I visited with a party of family & friends, & all of us felt it was overpriced for the quality of the wine & exceptionally pretentious. They have a wonderful restaurant that is not accessible to anyone unless you join their wine club. I felt the $115 bottles of wine that are sent to the home are excellent... for a $70 - $80 bottle that I could buy locally. I was able to enjoy the best Eggs Benedict I've had in a while, but only because one of our party joined the club, otherwise we would not have been able to enter. It must be a winning formula for them when you see all of the positive reviews, but just not for us. We do not drink a ton of wine & don't want to have a subscription which is the membership requirement. I do want to point out the exceptional, truly exceptional help given during the tasting by Dan. He was a tremendous ambassador for the vineyard while everyone else worked so hard to push "membership". It's a hard sales approach that I do not like, nor accept. Doubt any of our party will return. We joined Grape Creek about a month ago while visiting with friends for Valentine's Day Weekend. We had an incredible experience with Chuck. The man was incredible to learn from and had a great way of making everyone feel right at home. This weekend, we are visiting for my wife's birthday. We needed a little getaway to recharge our batteries. We visited the tasting room in Main Street. Leigh (I hope I'm spelling it right) was not one ounce short of fabulous to visit with. Last, but not least, while having a quick lunch a Stout's (the restaurant for members) we met Abigail. She was so insightful, attentive, and friendly. She made us feel at home while we enjoyed our pizza, which is superb - 1/2 Chicken Bacon Ranch and Pepperoni. If you're looking for a great experience, we both highly recommend. The wine distracted me from taking photos, but the food here speaks for itself. A great little midday snack! read more

We became members. We moved from California and love the wines there. We are now Texans and want to love and support our wine region. It is pricey, $25+ tax per tasting, for 3 wines. You can mix and match. We LOVED the Petite Sirah and the Port. The reds were nice, complex and bold, and the Viognier was dry but both fruit and mineralogy. We can't wait to taste some more of the estate grown wines. read more
