Mussels/Fries, Prime Steakhouse Meatloaf, Pan Seared Scallops, Capirotada (bread pudding)

I wanted to love this place, their logistics made it difficult to want to come back for dinner. I visited this restaurant twice on Saturday as I was with a party visiting Houston to celebrate a birthday so I'd already booked dinner on their website previously. The three of us decided to come for brunch around 11 and were surprised that it was relatively empty but were happy to reap the benefits of being able to be serviced without wait. For brunch we were greeted with prosecco and seated in the main dining area and ordered the crab hush puppies, shrimp and grits, and veggie omelette. All incredibly delicious. Drinks included the Paloma and Old Granger and were beautifully made. A quick trip to the restroom before leaving confirmed that the stylish interior was not forgotten in any space. A great time with great service that had us excited for dinner. This is where my generous 3-star rating comes: For dinner the place was booked and busy! The main area was much louder than earlier with the buzz of people and music. I was so glad I'd utilized their website to confirm a reservation in the quieter gallery (1 of few) the week prior for this special occasion. While being greeted with prosecco I was told initially told they didn't see my reservation, then told they'd seat us in the main dining area so I corrected them and let them no we were to be seated in the gallery. They told me "unfortunately, that area is fully seated" I let them know that I understood and maybe it'd been overlooked but we had a confirmed reservation for 3 in the gallery so it wasn't as if we're walk-ins. We were accounted for in the system they have on their website. They tell me I should have called to confirm... in spite of utilizing the resources provided by the establishment, multiple emails, and text reminders up to 30 minute prior I should have called? I didn't want to cause additional hold-up because I wanted to celebrate my best friend so we sat in the dining area even though it was too loud to speak to each other across the table. The food was still delicious even though there was a hiccup with the server being confused on our insistence on not having nuts in one the dishes (a restriction provided in my booking reference...) in addition to ordering a cocktail and receiving a mocktail. The food itself was delicious, as expected. We ordered the mussels, meatloaf, and scallops. Overall, I'd come back for brunch and possibly dinner if not for a special occasion and on a random weekday evening. The experience with booking was enough for me to not recommend this to anyone for any special events they may have which is what I'd see most people wanting to come here for if passing through Houston because i booked well in advance and was still seated as a walk-in. What if a table hadn't been available at that moment? The night surely would've been ruined.

We were for lunch couple weeks ago Didn't know this restaurant in the museum district area . The ambiance is very nice and surprisingly that food was way more than ị expected I'm not a fan of hushpuppies at all and this place served the crab hushpuppies were very good. The rest of the meals were good too Service was nice. It's also walking distance from medical center and rice university

Restaurant Week Lunch Menu

This started off with a snarky host who looked like Frank Gallagher. Iykyk. Probably overwhelmed with people coming in for restaurant week. But. Here we are. The server recommended the steak frites which was a good value with the additional cost but I have plans for steak elsewhere and didn't want that. And the meatloaf. Which I probably would have tried but it came with potato salad. And I'm not even sure if that would have been okay for me in 90 degree Houston heat. I opted for the scallops instead. The Caesar salad was okay. The scallops and risotto were chefs kiss. Yes. So for parking here it's a parking lot behind the building (it's 3 restaurants all side by side, fia is amazing btw) and that was 15.00. Or you can do street parking. It's in the med center so parking is scarce. Do what you must with this information. I feel like I came in right after the lunch rush and before happy hour. I like the design of the place. It seems like everybody works together here for service which is always a plus.

This is truly a neighborhood gem. The ambience is cozy, but lively and the service is impeccable. The food is very, very good and reasonably priced. I have heard rave reviews from every friend that I have brought there.

I enjoyed my dining experience at this location. We made reservations for a group of 4 for Friday night and once arrived we were seated right away. Upon entering the hostess offered us a glass of complimentary champagne which I declined. Once seated our server Amelia came by to introduce herself and go over the menu. She was informative, attentive and very kind to us. She was upbeat and energetic which made the experience 10 times better and another reason why Granger's is getting a 5 instead of 4 stars. I started off with their mocktail and I got the Rothko-colada which I thought was a little too sweet for my liking but I did enjoy the pineapple flavor, it was strong. I also got to try my friend mocktail (dot-dot seurat) which I wasn't a fan of. After that we got an order of the Parmesan truffle fries & prime filet mignon tips (medium rare). The fries were delicious, Parmesan was strong. The filet mignon tips were tendered and seasoned to perfection. The whipped potatoes were fine but the Demi-glacé was very good. It was cooked more on the medium side but delicious nonetheless. After that we ordered our main courses. I got the crusted salmon and so did Tiffany J. Annalisa P. ordered the pesto pasta rotisserie chicken and my other friend got the wagyu burger. My salmon was cooked medium which I prefer & had a good crust on the bottom. I also had a side of sauté spinach which I should've pasted on it since it was bland. Very garlicky but that's all I got from it. I also got to sample my friend's burger, crispy Brussel sprouts & pesto pasta. The burger was juicy and the patty itself was high quality. Loved the addition of the caramelized onions. The Brussels sprout was a no for me, it was very sweet from idk what. The pesto pasta was very good and the noodles were al dente, chicken was also tendered. At the end I ordered their dessert and got the crème brûlée. Good caramelization on the top of the brûlée. The custard was slightly sweet, smooth, creamy and silky. It was the perfect consistency. Overall, I was satisfied. The food overall was a 4 but Amelia provided spectacular service and is the reason I'll give it a perfect 5 stars. She even checked on us after we paid our bill & packed our leftovers and labeled them. I will say that the ambiance is intimate but kind of loud. The music did start simmering down once we were done with our food. If you want more privacy I'll say sit outside on their patio. Will I come back? Oh yeah.

I visited Granger's and tried the Aperol spritz, which I thought was good overall. It had a slightly burnt orange flavor to it, which I wasn't expecting, but it was my first time trying one so I didn't really have a baseline for comparison. For food, I ordered the breakfast platter. It was just okay in my opinion. The eggs could've used more salt and pepper, the bacon was very thick, and the potatoes were a bit under-seasoned. The highlight of the plate for me was definitely the French toast--it was really good. One thing to note is parking: you either need to use the nearby parking garage or pay $13 for valet, which is good to know ahead of time. Overall, a decent experience with a standout French toast and a solid drink, but some of the breakfast items could use more seasoning. Our waiter was also so awesome! Very nice and enthusiastic.

To start, I came I here with no expectations after reading a few reviews! And they set the bar high for my first visit! Firstly the prices were pretty good and the ambiance was nice. Service was quick and attentive so 5/5 all around for those "categories" Now the food? Matched everything else! For my appetizer I got the crab hush puppies. I expected something different (I thought it was going to be filled with crap) but it was more so just hush puppies topped with crab. It was good but it didn't blow me away, I think the crab cake would've been a better option I also got the shrimp scampi and steak. The shrimp scampi was flavorful and the steak was absolutely phenomenal, seasoned beautifully, tender, everything you could ask. For desert I got the bread pudding which was solid but nothing super spectacular. Drinks were good, the peach strawberry lemonade cocktail was really good and I highly recommend All in all this was a wonderful dinner and I highly recommend!

Wow where do I even begin? I ambled into Grangers in honor of Houston Restaurants Weeks because this was a spot I've been wanting to try for a while. I loved the overall atmosphere. Bustling spot, open concept, plenty of natural light, comfy seats perched by the window, bar smack dab in the middle as soon as you walk in ugh I love it. Service was absolutely impeccable 10/10 no complaints! I was greeted by with a glass of Prosecco (my fave) and the sweetest, most helpful hosts. I opted to sit at the bar and wowwww talk about the best bartenders ever, Aidan, Isaac, and Jose (my personal favorite) were SUPER attentive, so sweet, so accommodating, so helpful. Before even touching any food I knew I was coming back just to see them haha. Food was pretty good and flavorful! I got the breakfast skillet along with burrata as an appetizer on the restaurants week menu. Pretty great deal and portion size for restaurants week. Overall this restaurant definitely has fair prices! The burrata was pretty good but the skillet left a little to be desired. Presentation wise, I think the skillet would've been best suited in an actual skillet or circular plate/bowl versus an oval ramekin. The potatoes were seasoned nicely and the egg cooked perfectly but all other ingredients within the "skillet" were pretty sparse (not really fitting description). My meal was good overall and something I would absolutely order again. But was it something I would rave about or go above and beyond to recommend? Not as much. Definitely will be returning for happy hour though to see my mini family of bartenders and to try other menu options more extensively!

I went for brunch during HRW and it was my first time at Grangers. Let's just say it won't be my last! Upon walking in you're greeted and asked if you want champagne (immediately YES!). My server Isaac was phenomenal. He even helped me out of the booth and has really soft hands! And the decor is lovely. The ambiance needs no notes. They even have a seating are in the bathroom! On to the food. In one word DELICIOUS. I got the HRW Waffel (which I forgot to take a picture of) that was so good! It didn't even need syrup because the caramelized sugar on top was so good. Then for the entree I got the chicken fried steak. It was super tender and just enough salt. I asked for no eggs so I'm not sure if they gave me extra potatoes to make up for that or if this is the regular amount of potatoes. All in all this place will see me many more times outside of restaurant week!

Parmesan truffle fries
Annalisa P.

I came here for dinner with friends and really liked this place and the decor. Aside from having to yell talk over the music or when the restaurant was full and the blasting A/C, I liked the food. Plus, our server Amelia was top notch. Even though I previewed the menu and had an idea of what I wanted, I still had a lot of questions, and Amelia gave great feedback on the mocktail options and food. Our friends ordered a few appetizers such as the parmesan truffle fries and prime filet mignon tips. Loved them both! TBH, I would've been fine if that was my meal. I thought the fries were cooked well, and the aioli dipping sauce was tasty. The prime filet mignon tips were cooked medium even though my friend asked for medium rare. It was still good and tender. I liked the whipped potatoes with the mushrooms and demi-glace. It was like a good steak with mashed potatoes and brown gravy but elevated. For $19, it's on the steeper side in relation to the small portion. The parmesan truffle fries are $16, but it was a much larger portion. I'm assuming the quality of the truffle oil they use for it is what you're really paying for. I was craving pasta that week, so I ordered the pesto pasta rotisserie chicken. I'm a fan of pappardelle noodles, and I thought it was properly cooked al dente. The chicken was cubed and tender. The pesto itself wasn't overpowering for me, but I like pesto. I'm glad there were a lot of pine nuts and that the dish came with garlic sourdough. I love a good garlic bread with my pasta. The dish was served piping hot and was a big portion. I ate half and took the rest home. It ate well the next day. Again, it's a little pricey for pesto pasta at $27. Good thing most of the food we ordered tasted good. The Brussels sprouts were too sweet and very honey forward. It lacked acidity. I also tried a bite of my friend's salmon, and I thought it was nice and fresh. I'd come back and try one of their steaks and CFC. I liked the large selection of mocktails at decent price points since some of them had brand alternatives. I actually wanted to try 3 or 4 of them, but I went with only one - Dot Dot Seurat. It has sparkling fruit punch with fresh strawberries, muddled pineapple, 'filthy cherries' juice, topped with Topo Chico. It looked pretty and tasted good. It wasn't too sweet or sour. I'd like to try the Georgia O'Peach frozen drink next time. Service was great. Everyone helped each other out, and they provided new plates and silverware like at Little's and other Michelin-rated restaurants. Before leaving, Amelia hooked me up with free iced tea to go, too. Many thanks!! The outside covered patio area was nice. I'd dine out there next time. It would be even better on patio weather days. Come check them out! They're participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks, too.

Went here for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and overall, it was just okay. The etouffee was decent, but I felt like it was missing a little something in the flavor department. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to order it again.

Popped in for a quick drink during Happy Hour! Drinks were decent, but a bit on the high end for happy hour ($12-18).

Considering the recent shutter of other places (#2) within the hospitality umbrella, it's not too big of a surprise that Wooster's would also be in the crosshairs. The space was always a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, which combined with its dedicated parking lot made this an easy drinking outlet for all kinds of occasions. The intimate indoor space was lovely and well ventilated, and it felt like there wasn't ever a moment where the bar wasn't slammed. The outdoor space was much of the same, with lots of tables and chairs, and even the trendy swing chairs facing the city. The only thing that was a little bit of a liability were those open flame heaters; it would only take on person to accidentally walk into one or trip onto it. For libations, the drinks were well priced, well made, and always potent. I appreciated the aesthetics, as well as the bartenders who made them. The only part that wasn't exciting was the limited food menu, which did its part as munchies for the drink heavy crowd, but was mediocre otherwise. The space is already undergoing the new facelift of a separate concept, one of which I hope will do the area justice, just as much as Wooster's did. ____________ (#1) The Kirby Group. (#2) R.I.P. Our server, Camille, took our order and then would disappear for 30+ minutes at a time. At one point, when we asked where she had been, she simply said she was "walking around." Her overall approach to serving us felt extremely nonchalant and inattentive. The atmosphere also made us feel as though the level of attention you receive depends on how much you're spending--particularly whether you're purchasing bottles. The servers seemed more focused on creating a bottle-service experience than providing attentive restaurant service. It gave the evening a very transactional, "pay for attention" feeling rather than genuine hospitality. What really sealed the experience for us happened after we had already paid our bill. A host approached our table and essentially said, "Can you leave now? We need to seat someone right now." There was no gracious transition, no "thank you for dining with us," and no polite explanation--just an abrupt request to leave. For a restaurant with such a beautiful ambiance and good food, the service and hospitality were incredibly disappointing. Guests should feel welcomed and valued from the moment they sit down until the moment they leave, regardless of whether they're ordering bottles.

It looks like the drink that I ordered is also no longer on the menu. The bar prides itself on having a rotating meal changing menu so I think that's a lot of fun when it comes to trying new drinks and new combinations and it truly shows the artistry of the bartender. There was the option of both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior was more of a dimmer, elegant and darker tone. I can see it being pretty classic if you were to go at night time.
