I've been going to Grangers for 15+ years. It's definitely changed over the last few years and since the new owners bought it, it's not as good. The food quality for some menu items is not as good, such as the chicken in the salads and the turkey burger. One thing that has stayed consistent though is the veggie burger. It's the best veggie burger I've ever had. The staff is nice, but I do miss the old staff, which added to the old charm of Grangers. My friends kept raving about this place - I live just down the road and have never gone in all my years. They wanted to take my husband out for his birthday. They were insistent on getting the Texas Tumbleweeds which are sliced onions tossed in old bay served with chipotle mayo - they loved it. My husband ordered the special - the Asian salad and loved it. Someone else ordered the six cheese grilled cheese (Under the I don't know what I want category) and loved it. I ordered the Greek salad - romaine and iceberg mix (I didn't want the iceberg but it comes in a mix), tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, red onion, feta cheese and kalarta olives with dressing on the side (very good) and the other person the grilled mahi mahi sandwich (without the bread) -cajun style with fries and coleslaw and loved it. It's a very casual place so it was perfect for our evening. I will be back since I was pleasantly surprised. It is very spacious inside and outside (big parking lot); and has a nice counter, tables, and more. Very friendly wait staff. WIll definitely be back. Granger's is a one-of-a-kind favorite spot for many delray locals. From the outside it doesn't look like anything spectacular, but I definitely misjudged this place! They are a scratch kitchen- meaning everything is fresh. It's so hard to find places that don't use frozen entrees! This being said, once they run out of something (and believe me they will), it's gone for the day. I made the mistake of coming towards closing time. Sadly, they were out of all burgers and many other items. Get there early! Also, service is currently a little slow. They have signs posted everywhere to make customers aware that they are understaffed. So come with an appetite and some patience! The food I managed to order was delicious. The grilled cheese was crispy on the outside and perfectly melted on the inside. The homemade chips on the side were hot and crispy- delivering the perfect crunch with each bite! Very happy I opted for the chips over fries! French onion soup was delicious, but a little salty for my liking. There was a giant piece of bread in the bowl, so it wasn't actually a lot of actual soup. Worth trying, but I probably wouldn't order this again. This restaurant has been in business for many years. I used to go to it when it was in a gas station. This is the first time I've gone in I don't know how many years it's very nice and clean inside. The bathroom was even clean. The food is good I had the tuna salad open face Came with coleslaw and macaroni salad. It's indescribable. Not really a diner. But comfort food. Not really an upscale diner either, but better than diner food. Turkey sandwich has real, off the bone turkey. The perfect spot! I came in for lunch in the mood for a fresh salad with chicken and some honey mustard and they had just what I wanted! The chicken was so flavorful and fresh and the salad was also crispy and fresh. The kale slaw was just the right and the waitress and service was great! This was our first time going but certainly won't be our last. For a Wednesday evening it was really busy so that was a good sign. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They have bar seat, hi-tops, and regular tables. I tried their French Onion Soup made with bourbon. Ermagerd!! Such cheesy goodness and chunks of bread and onion. Very flavorful and easily one of the best that I have ever had. Hubby wanted the blackened meatloaf but it wasn't available (hopefully next time) so he had the Reuben. The Good - Granger's has good food and most of their portions are pretty good. You won't be disappointed in their meatloaf, baby back ribs. or homemade soups. Service is both friendly and attentive. The Bad - The new owners are cutting corners and it's noticeable. You can't substitute vegetables, even though they're the exact same price. You must order an "additional" side. They now use generic ketchup. And most annoying, no more credit cards at the table, you must pay at the register and add a tip, although they encourage cash tips. And what does prices may change without notice mean? Will my meal cost more than the price on the menu? The Bottom Line - We still go to Grangers, just not as often as we once did. To the new owners - if you're going to charge $2 for a chicken wing, I think you can afford a 35 cent credit card swipe fee and a bottle of Heinz ketchup. Fix your nickle-and-dime me issues and you'd be pushing a 5 star rating. Just my humble opinion. read more

Wow, really great lunch / dinner place in Delray. I ordered one of the lunch special, clam strips. They also had fried oysters and a smoked bbq beef brisket sandwich... hard decision. The menu alone was terrific with way too many good choices. I already see myself returning. It was not very busy at 11:30 am on a Saturday.. i was surprised and happy as ive been dealing with crowds everywhere. I could seat myself and Ian was my server. He was the best.. My clam strips were a bit crispy and he was concerned but thats the way i like them.. they were more than strips, they were really wide meaty clams. The batter was delicious and i got a small orrder of fried green tomatoes vs fries, also great. Ian accommodated this request as it was not on the menu. The atmosphere is fun.. they do have a full bar, wine and beer on tap. There are tabkes, hightops and a counter. Parking is easy, a big plus in Delray and the prices are average. We had a good lunch here last week. We were looking for diner type food and this restaurant fit the bill. There is plenty of free parking in their parking lot. Inside was spacious with regular tables, high tops, and a counter/bar. Our waitress was friendly and personable. We were told the lunch specials and our drink orders were taken right away. They had one left of their pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich special and my husband got it. He said the sandwich was very good -- cheesy with pork -- that he dipped in the bbq sauce. It came with fries. They were just okay. I started with a cup of conch chowder. The "cup" was as big as a bowl and very good. Lots of veggies in a thick tomato base with nice bits of conch in it. She brought over some Sherry for it. After tasting the soup, it had enough pizazz and a touch of spice that it really didn't anything else added fo it. I followed the soup with a coconut shrimp appetizer. It too was very good. It came with some pineapple based dipping sauce. As I'm allergic to pineapple, I asked for something else. Tried again last night as I believe in second chances and we loved the place under the old ownership. Food is mediocre, but I didn't expect any different. Menu said 4% surcharge for credit cards which unfortunately has become pretty standard. They put the surcharge on before the tax so you are charged tax on the 4%. If you pay cash the higher tax is still on your bill. Pretty sure this is illegal but sure it's unethical. When we paid we asked to split the bill (two couples). The first check was correct but the second check was different so we questioned the cashier who is one of the owners. Her response was "hold your water and I'll explain it". The lack of customer service here continues to amaze me. We ordered dessert, the donuts which come with three different types of sauce. The server gave a choice and we asked for all three (we are four people with different tastes). The wait person said no problem but what she never mentioned is that there was a $1.00 up charge for each of the sauced beyond one. This restaurant, under the new ownership, continues its petty ways. We arrived about 7:30 on a Wednesday night and was told that the kitchen closed at 8pm. Just a heads up for anyone expecting to go there late. We were greeted nicely and was told to pick a table and he will meet us there with our menus. The options were plenty and took us a bit to figure out what to order. The blue cheese chips stuck out for me for an appetizer. It comes out in a large plate and enough to feed four people. The sauce had a sweet taste but the blue cheese was a bit over powering. Between the both of us, we killed most of it. I ordered the Mac attack and added jalapeños- what was put in front of me was a very large burger. Had a hard time eating it. Very tasty and could only manage to eat half of it. It's not the best burger I've ever had but it was good. Forgot the actual name of my boyfriends dish. Chicken, peppers and onions? He wasn't that happy with it. After eating half, he gave up and took the other half of my burger. I had two bites of his and it's pretty bland. We don't recommend. The grilled chicken salad was nothing special. They give you one cracker with the salad that is broken in half with a piece on each side of the bowl. Lol. Not joking. Tasty but definitely boxed other than a few shreds of fresh cheese on top. Very mundane average food. Plus to top it off they had no bathrooms that were open to the public? Thick slices of turkey over stuffing and mashed potatoes, covered with gravy; a side of perfectly cooked broccoli and a small dish of cranberry sauce. Perfect! I found Grangers to be uninspiring in either food, service or ambiance. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't extra special either. The menu was boring, the service disinterested, the portions uneven. We were told by our companions to split a salad because they are huge. Their wedge salad which was 1/2 of a head of lettuce. Ours which was a main course was only 1/4 of a head of lettuce, we might have gotten another but the waiter disappeared after dropping it off at the table and was not seen for a long time afterwards. We were so hungry that we had to stop off for ice cream just to quell our hunger pains. The ambiance was nothing special either just some tvs on the walls and some tables, a big bar and some random decor. In short there was nothing to make it stand out above the crowd of restaurants in the area, except for the fact that it was less expensive than most. read more
