I had another great dinner at The Grove. The service is always spot on - I sat at the bar. Nice atmosphere. This visit, I tried the hamachi which was very good. I also had the shrimp cerviche and it was excellent - I loved the green sauce. It came with a round cracker-like bread. For my main, the local yellowtail snapper was excellent - nicely cooked, not overly done up. I love this place so much. From their delicious cocktails to food and beautiful ambiance. I got the mezcal drink "slightly smoked" it was easy to drink, light & refreshing. For dinner we ordered the duck and chicken dish (my favorite dish that I always return for) The duck was delicious and we are happy to try something new, however the portion size is ridiculously small for $56. It also came with zero side to boot. Hence the 4/5 The chicken over polenta was buttery smooth and worth every penny. Note to business: Honestly, credit card fee is normal overhead at a restaurant and shouldn't be separated out to your customers. It send a wrong message especially when entrees exceed $50/plate. First time visit and we have been living here almost 4 years. Shame on us! Busy - we had an 8:15 reservation. Sat in the 2nd room where the big bar is located. 10 stars for us. Wow. Incredible menu and service. Consider yourself fortunate if Mel is your server. Very attentive, knowledgeable and gracious. 1/2 price wine night - had a fantastic Gruner. Mel even let us know the temp wasn't optimal so they chilled it a bit longer. Nice touch. My grilled peach & burrata was fantastic. Fiance loved his rock shrimp ceviche. Basil stuffed (shrimp) farfalle was the best. Fiance ordered the cheeseburger. I ate 1/2 of his rosemary fries. Addictive! Only drawback and it wasn't their fault. A group of six were next to us. Was visiting a friend from out of town and she's a regular here... there was a bit of a wait so we sat outside & ordered drinks... once our table was ready we were moved to inside and our waiter, Bee, took care of us inside & outside - he was amazing! Gave us great recommendations, checked in regularly - we started with the yellowfin tuna, grilled Maine scallops, & house bread. Then we split the sweet corn agnolotti & filet mignon. Chefs kiss. Let's get the negatives out of the way....I got full. That's it. The menu gives you the opportunity to curate your own epicurean journey and I'm assuming that's the point. Cocktails crafted and paired beautifully, (thanks Court and Nick). I had the Hamachi, you must have the Hen Egg, then I concluded with the gnocchi. If you're lucky enough to have Michael or Tony suggest your courses, or your wine pairings, do yourself a solid and oblige. It's been years since I've been to the grove and they've only aged like a fine wine. 11/5. Go. I look forward to experiencing what they become excited about executing. The food here is absolutely spectacular. I really enjoyed the specialty cocktails and they had an excellent selection of wine. The sweet corn agnolotti was delicious. You have to get the rosemary bread. One of the few places you can find squash blossoms in the area, stuffed with ricotta, and finished with a truffle honey. Also must order the Caramel bread pudding. I gave the place four stars because it's one of those locations that is higher priced with small portions. The price isn't ridiculous but I would definitely expect a little bit more food given the price point. A grown man would definitely leave hungry. This is probably one of the best restaurants in delray and we had one of the worst experiences ever. It's a very expensive restaurant (a hundred a person) and we enjoyed a beautiful meal there several weeks ago. We went back to celebrate a birthday and it was totally off from the start. We ordered two glasses of champagne. and the waiter showed up with two wine glasses and a half opened bottle of orange Prosecco, which he proceeded to point in to our glasses. We wanted champagne not Prosecco but we decided to let the evening proceed. We ordered the hen's egg which is a delightful appetizer that was completely different than the last time and really not good at all. we ordered the gnocchi we had ordered last time and it was completely different and not good at all also, while we're waiting for our dinners, the waiter came with a desert menu, never a good sign. Even though they knew it was a birthday there was absolutely no mention of it no dessert, etc. so to sum it up the food was awful. The service was unbelievably bad and the price was, as usual , quite high. read more

I ate here for Saturday night dinner. They have bar seating for walk-ins. They also have a couch area outside on the back patio for walk-ins. There may be some tables for walk in's but I'm not sure. The bar was full, so they offered me the couch on the back patio, which is not air-conditioned and is very hot, but staff informed me that there were fans directly on the couch and I would feel comfortable out there also that the full menu is served. So I sat at the couches and I was a solo diner, so it was actually nice to be able to sit there and read my book while waiting for my drink and food. As promised there were fans right on me several of the other diners on the patio though were very hot. The waitress I had was really great and friendly as were the other staff. The drink I had was great as was the short rib pasta so good. I would definitely go out of my way to go back again! read more

EXTREMELY disappointing night. In the past, The Grove has been a restaurant I look forward to. It's always a restaurant you leave hungry but it's atleast solid drinks and good service. Unfortunately tonight the drinks and service were all that hit the mark. Truffle pasta was embarrassing. It was $70 for nothing other than fettuccine noodles butter and 4 pieces of shaved truffle. Absolutely flavorless. The side green beans and Brussels for nearly $20, microwaved. If it weren't for the beef carpaccio that is always on the menu, I wouldn't return. And quite frankly, after tonight I might never come back. It really was that disappointing which is upsetting because this has been a place I've raved about for years. read more

We were excited to try this place as it came highly recommended. We were seated promptly in the dining area. The atmosphere is quite beautiful with an open kitchen and a large wine display. The bar area also seemed nice, but that's where the good ended. Our server, Juan was quite off putting. Dressed two T-shirts, he looked like he had just rolled out of bed. The way he came across to us felt like we were an inconvenience for him. The food feels like it's trying to come across as high-end, but all it did was feel pretentious. The portion sizes are quite small for the amount of money they are charging for each dish. The steak tartare comes on a bed of rice which was unexpected. I get that it's a different take on the dish, but it just doesn't seem to fit well together as a dish. It felt incomplete. So we asked for some sourdough bread to go along with it. It was soaked it so much oil that it tasted acrid. The mushroom soup was ok, but a bit grainy. I had the sweet corn agnolotti. It was good but definitely needed some acid to balance out the dish. The burger for $30 dollars was a joke. It was quite small and very basic. Overall, our experience with The Grove left a lot to be desired. Especially with how off putting our server was. That was the capper. For us it was quite pedestrian. Definitely won't be back. One and done for us. read more

My husband and I came to the Grove at the recommendation of a local foodie friend who knew we are fond of Driftwood in Boynton and said the Grove would be up our alley. Not only was she right, it's now our new favorite in Delray! The staff is super friendly, making sure you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. We sat outside in the back, a lovely area that's calm and nicely set up w fans for every individual table, plus great music playing at a very reasonable volume. It's calm and even a bit romantic! The food is, yes, expensive -- and occasionally wish portions were a LITTLE bigger -- but overall it's hard to find any fault and everything is beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. We had: -rosemary brioche ($5 but first is free if you get an app and entree) -- fluffy, baked to order, even the butter is beyond good (and made in house) -seared yellowfin tuna w aji verde sauce and tiny potato chips -- the tuna was almost buttery, the sauce a delicious complement (only qualm is the portion is a bit small) -spicy rigatoni -- this is a perennial fave here for good reason, excellent homemade pasta and super flavorful tomato vodka sauce that's not overly rich and just the right amount of kick -filet mignon -- cooked to a textbook medium rare perfection, melt in your mouth -- with delicious mini hasselback potatoes and maitake mushrooms We also tried two cocktails and were partial to the Fall Fashioned, nicely unusual w cinnamon spice and pear! The Pineapple Grove was incredible with a sage infused gin and pineapple. Started with the Japanese A5 tartare with homemade sushi rice that was the perfect balance of beef and umami flavor. The rosemary and parm focaccia was delicious. Crispy on top, and warm and soft inside. The highlight was the chicken parm over penne alla vodka special. I make a killer vodka sauce at home (says the wife) and this rivaled it. Perfectly creamy with the right amount of spice. Heath bar bread pudding for dessert. Perfectly firm, not too sweet. They told us to sit wherever we liked and then came and told us to get up and stand to the side while they moved tables around because we didn't have reservations . We sat back down at the same tiny table for two! Later the waiter was letting the table next to us know the specials and never shared them with us. It's tucked away on a corner street and honestly I don't know if many people know about this unless they did their research or were told . It's got a romantic vibe going on , it's intimate with indoor, outdoor terrace, and another dining area with a bar . One thing to note is you do have to make a deposit for a reservation . Second thing was the terrace is beautiful and they have plug in fans but it was so humid out it almost took away from the experience . I wish they had larger fans . The complimentary bread was okay nothing crazy . The menu is small just to note . The beef carpaccio as an appetizer is a must have - this was one of the best things I have probably eaten . Two we got the brioche crusted chicken and sweet corn pasta - just know everything is a la carte. Both of these were delicious. We did not have dessert here . I do think a lively restaurant our waiter was nice and they left a note for us before you pay . However for two people , an appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, and two entrees was over $200 .
