I get all of my tailoring done here and it is always PERFECT. As a petite girl it is so necessary to have a tailor you can trust and they are exactly that at a reasonable price. Figured I'd go here for convenience. It wasn't worth it. Went in with a standard men's dress shirt for a cleaning and left with a shirt that had a half dozen different "random" stains on it. Against my better judgement, I left the shirt for them to reclean and it was arguably worse the second time. Save yourself the trouble. read more

I use Grand Cleaners when I am out by my son's house. On each visit, I find the lady who is always at the desk to be friendly and helpful. She remembers me which is fantastic because I am not there very often. The store is small but super organized and clean, which is a good thing when you are leaving your clothes with them. There are a ton of windows, keeping the shop bright and cheerful. There is ample free parking that is shared with the restaurant next door. My clothes always come back on time and perfectly clean and pressed. The prices are very reasonable, offering a great value. Overall, I find that Grand Cleaners is a fantastic business serving West Town and Ukrainian Village. read more

This small little cleaners won't impress you with it's amazing facilities. It usually takes them about a week to clean things. They do a decent job for a decent price and they take plastic. I did have a shirt ruined once but they reimbursed me for it with no hassle. It was one of my favorites but it was old. I told them it was old but they insisted. I have sent things in that needed small repairs - they did them without asking or charging me for them. I have paid them to cut off specialty buttons that can't be cleaned and then sew them back on. They do a great job. They also fixed a skirt for me that I thought was ruined. They do alterations too. You do have to ask them to use a press cloth if you don't want things shiny. read more

UPDATE: The owners reached out as part of us figuring out what to do and wrote me a check for the value of the stolen sweaters. They had limited insurance on theft, but reached into their own pockets to cover the loss. Very appreciated and done as it should've been in the first place. With the friendly resolution of this, I'd bump them back up to a 4. Hoping that incidents like that don't happen again. *************************** I've been going to Grand Cleaners for 10+ years and recently had my sweaters STOLEN while they were in their possession. I definitely don't blame them for the theft (though I don't know the details). I thought they'd be very helpful and accommodating since it really sucks. Unfortunately, they have not been. Since my bill was only $15 for that particular transaction, they are saying that they can only reimburse me for up to 10x the amount. So, it's my own bad luck that they lost a cashmere sweater ($180) and an argyle sweater ($80). I provided them printouts of comparable sweaters from the same store, but to no avail. As of now, they are asking that I provide receipts from my purchases, which were in 2010 and 2009. A bit unrealistic. Since they charge around $1.75/item, it implies that I should never bring them anything that's worth more than $17.50? Hmm. How about I never bring anything back to them again? In my book, it's all about how you handle your customers when things go wrong. So, I'm hoping that when I go back to talk to them, this is resolved in a way that makes me continue to be a fan of theirs. But as of now... I'm sorely disappointed, but will update. read more

VERY, VERY disappointed. Grand Cleaners is around the corner from me and was my go-to dry cleaner. Never had a problem - until.... I took a regular comforter (not down) there after a cleaning product left a stain on it - I asked if they thought it would be better if I laundered it and they assured me that they would be able to remove the stain on the white comforter. I returned a week later, paid, took my comforter home and spread it on my bed - only to realize that there was A GIGANTIC HOLE where the stain had been (and still was). I immediately returned and complained - I paid $43 to dry clean the comforter (which they refunded), but they would do nothing about the $100+ comforter that they completely ruined. There is no way to hide the hole. Their solution was to have their tailor try to find some patterned fabric to patch the hole with - for my embroidered white comforter - how stupid would that have looked?!?!?!?! The poor customer service in this instance and their unwillingness to make amends for their mistake has lost them a customer. Think twice before using them. read more

They've accepted repairs other cleaners won't touch: a vintage leather jacket with a sleeve torn halfway off, that needs patching and sewing, was $28 to fix. A pair of jeans that needed patching and reinforcing to reattach two belt loops was $14 to repair, a very nice rayon shirt that had a seam busted out when someone pulled a bit too hard on it was $8 to fix. I seem to have a lot of issues related to people trying to tear my clothes off of me, but really, it's not like that. Regular cleaning isn't fast or cheap, but they are responsible and have integrity. I haven't noticed too many places that have extra collar stays for $1 a pack, (several sets) and they haven't thrown out or sold my clothes when I space out and leave them there for two months. If you drive by, need to park and its on your way then they are a good choice. They aren't plant-on-premises so far as I can tell, so they aren't the place to go for overnight service. I myself, don't need overfriendly chitchat with my cleaners. They call me "Mr. Ray" and are very polite to me, charge a fair price, and deliver when they say they will, what more should I want? read more

I am a skeptic mostly when I try places like this because I have such high expectations, but I have to admit that they did a great job. I got a pair of jeans hemmed here, without wearing my heels she was able to get it cut down to the perfect length for me. She also hemmed up another pair of pants and I got my coat dry cleaned here as well, and she was able to get out the spots on my white coat. The prices are comparable to other spots. I am glad to find a spot that I can keep coming back to. read more

Grand Cleaners does a great job. They clean the clothes I bring in, and they mend things that I thought for sure they would say no to because they would be too difficult to mend. And when I brought in a jacket that had leather attachments, they warned me about it in advance and then steamed it instead because the leather would have been ruined. (Unlike the other cleaner on Grand Avenue, which unapologetically ruined a jacket of mine with leather attachments.) Then they even issued me a credit because I had originally paid too much. They are pricier than other cleaners, but I'm ok with paying a little extra because they do it right. read more

I will never return to Grand Cleaners again. Recently took some suits there for dry cleaning and noticed two of them had tears in the exact same spots on the sleeves. They were certainly not there when I brought them in. I took them into Grand Cleaners and explained the situation to the owner who was incredibly rude and insisted that the suits couldn't have been torn by them. She refused to listen and told me that the suits had ripped because of their age (despite one having been less than a year old, but she wasn't having it). I will NEVER return to this place and I highly suggest others be wary about bringing items here. I would have been fine with a repair and been on my way, but the rudeness of he owner will keep me away from this place from here on out. read more

I bought a $200 g-star sweater, wore it a few times and it got a bit dirty on the cuffs. I was 100% wool which was obvious. I brought it in to get cleaned. When I came to pick it up it was at least 1.5 sizes smaller. I pointed out that it was shrunk the lady said there is nothing she could do. Needless to say I'm very upset and am looking for a new dry cleaners. read more

Used them for 8 years for dry cleaning. I love the people who work there and was always happy with the prices and work. Once they let me bring my dog inside. He thought it was the vet, and he jumped on the counter! After some scrambling he managed to break their pen cup.... He waited outside after that. read more

Do not take your clothes here. Had a suit that I needed cleaned for a wedding. I wear this suit maybe 1x a year, and then it gets stored (with cedar). I took out of wrapper Friday afternoon after picking up Thursday PM. I worked Friday from 6am until 2, and then headed home to get dressed for wedding. I was shocked. Holes in cuffs, enough to show socks underneath. Burn marks on many parts of the suit. Fabric shredded and wear marks / threads instead of fabric left. Took photos and showed wife and then proceeded to wear this, as is, to wedding without any alternate plan. I returned the following Tuesday after returning from wedding (suit worn only for wedding) and very nicely thanks her for the quick turnaround and the work on a shirt that was cleaned perfectly. At that point she proceeded to give roughly 4-5 different reasons for the damage, non of them applicable. It's either one reason or not, and instead she proceeded to fish for and provide alternate reasons for this, such as: - it's Tuesday. Too late. Not our fault. - it's worn fabric. See (as she points out the obvious holes and shredded material) - it's something you did. - it's because you rushed us. You brought in Wednesday and picked up Thursday (and FYI, I asked if the timing was ok, knowing I was asking a lot: her answer was essentially no problem. - we use camera; this not suit you brought in. - only God knows (which I assume is implying I'm lying on some level, and which I absolutely take issue with) So, do not take here if you value honesty and want your clothes returned in same state they were when brought in. Also be wary that should you have an issue, my guess is you'll hear many many reasons as to why it's not their fault, none of which in my case were applicable at all. Good riddance. read more

I'd been going here for five years with moderate satisfaction--my clothes came back clean but their prices are high, the pricing is inconsistent (sometimes, they'd charge extra for a "pleated skirt" that had two pleats), slow service, and twice, when I dropped off drapes or rugs, they waited till I came back to pick up before telling me that the material was too fragile for them to clean and returned them dirty (they have my phone number on file but didn't call). But I kept going there because I wanted to patronize a local business. However, over the last two weeks, they have destroyed a silk blouse and claimed the stain was there when they got it (and still charged me for "cleaning" it); lost a skirt by putting someone else's name on the ticket they issued me and then insisted that I'd never dropped the skirt off in the first place; and attempted to give me someone else's black dress in exchange for the black dress I left with them. GRRR. In none of these cases did they attempt any kind of apology or amends. read more

I was in a pinch. I had to get a bridesmaid dress altered for a wedding out of town on a Saturday. I took the dress in on a Tuesday and explained that I needed it by friday morning and said I would pay extra to get it rushed. They said no problem and sure enough it was done (well) and ready to be picked up first thing Friday morning with no extra charge. The prices were reasonably and I will definitely be a returning customer. read more

Horrible- same ownership as GO Cleaners on grand and Ogden. They are horrible!!! The woman told me that it's the same ownership, but I already dropped my clothes off, when I went to pick them up the employee from GO Cleaners was there ( she knew that they ruined my shirt) and said that it's different ownership but they needed her help...
