The four vs five stars I'm giving is only due to not being completely satisfied with a few returned items and a lost sock. The four stars vs less is due to the outstanding customer service received all the way through. When reaching out to them about my lack of 100% satisfaction, they did not get defensive. Instead, they apologised and went straight to troubleshooting. Lest someone read this and decide to dishonestly take advantage of their kindness. I won't go into the steps they took to remediate. Suffice to say, they went above and beyond and were patient, kind, and helpful all along the way. I believe I have finally found my go-to laundry service company!

Shirley runs the place really smoothly and knows everybody by name, including all of the tenants in the building. The drycleaning has always returned exactly as expected, and Shirley even puts my shirts on my own wood hangers (that I bring her) instead of the metal ones that everyone eventually throws out. Great service! I enter at the small door on Wabash and press the security button to ask security to let me in to go to the drycleaners. Saves a few seconds if you're on that side of the building. Otherwise just enter through the main building's lobby on Superior and walk on through.

Kathy's is great!…read more First off, the staff are always so helpful and friendly, which really sets the tone. Secondly, they do great repair work. I have had jeans hemmed, pants taken in, and my all time favorite pair of jeans repaired numerous times whenever they acquired new holes due to excessive wear. Each time my items come back just as I asked, and they even noticed potential new holes starting on my jeans and fixed those too! One trip we made to Kathy's was right before a vacation/my boyfriends business trip to London. We needed the repetitively ripped jeans fixed, and two of my boyfriends dress pants cleaned before we left two days later. Although we obviously put them on a time crunch, they got the job done perfectly in time for our trip. Kudos to Kathy's!

The "store" is an impossibly small outpost the size of a walk-in closet staffed by an odd Chinese man who has a tendency to mumble quite a bit. There are no signs. No fliers. They do not accept credit cards. Why would anyone bring their clothes to this cleaners, you ask....? Convenience, assuming you live within a few blocks of this address. This location is a satellite office but can still accommodate next day service. They do on-site alterations. This is the real convenience though--monthly billing. You can drop off your items and Grand Valet will leave your completed order locked up behind the security desk for pickup at your leisure 24x7. Cut a check at or around the end of the month for whatever you owe. No invoices sent out. No late fees if you forget to drop by. Strange but convenient. Frankly, I am surprised the store trusts people to come back and pay at the end of the month. They do not take any credit cards or deposit for extending 30 day terms--a rarity in a large urban environment. The actual cleaning service is very good. I tested them by not mentioning a few strategically-placed wine stains (oh okay...they were accidents) to see if they found and corrected them. In each test case they located the offending anomaly, corrected it, and informed me of what they had done. Recommended if you live within a few blocks of Grand Ave & Wells. Rating: 3/5 (Very good)
