Needed to get a suit dry cleaned for a wedding and was looking for a spot near my apartment and ended up trying Erie Cleaners after seeing some solid reviews. They did not disappoint!! The staff was super friendly, and they had my suit (jacket, shirt, and pants) ready in 5 days. The price was really reasonable too, only $25 for the whole thing. Everything came back looking great. Definitely planning to make Erie Cleaners my go-to spot whenever I need dry cleaning done! read more

Erie Cleaners took such great care of my coat, which has seen a couple nasty winters! Wonderful family vibe and good walking distance to several residential buildings read more

They are the absolute BEST!!! Nicest, friendliest folks around, and they always do a fantastic job. Thank you!

Okay. First and foremost I Had an impossible task for these lovely people, don't be me. but my alteration for a dress was done in 24 hours and PERFECT. Do you need something altered on a crunch? these are your people. cannot thank enough! - Mika read more

Brought it a coat to get cleaned and to fix a zipper. Took a week to fix and cost 98$! When I wore the coat the next day there was crumpled up leaves in the pocket so obviously not cleaned very well. On top of that the staff was rude. Overpriced and poor service. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

On the recommendation of neighbors we tried Erie Cleaners after our cleaners in Lincoln Park went out of business. We are very pleased with the alterations on a number of garments and the dry cleaning services offered. The friendliness of the staff really adds to the service. These are lovely people who provide a wonderful and expert service. read more

I've been going here for years and they have never disappointed. I was in a rush to get my suit laundered for a wedding and they made sure to have it ready when I needed it. Their customer service is incredible. I wish more businesses were run the way Erie Cleaners is! read more

I have gone to Erie Cleaners for the last three years. They do a great job and the owners and workers are very helpful and accommodating. Prices are average for the area. read more

I absolutely love them! I have taken my clothes there for years for dry cleaning. Always a good outcome. I've also taken my jeans there for patches and fixing and they do an excellent job. It's not cheap (I think their prices are competitive) but you get what you pay for - and their work is high quality. Eugene most recently absolutely saved my favorite winter coat. It was in sad shape with a broken zipper, torn lining and a few other much needed repairs. As promised and in a shorter timeframe than quoted, he made my coat like new. The price for the repairs was totally fair and I am thrilled with the result. I would trust them with my most favorite garments any time. Definitely give them a try!! read more

The absolute worst. Terrible customer service and terrible cleaning service job. To be honest, the rudest business owner I have ever met. I had picked up clothes on a Saturday, two dry cleaned skirts, and when I brought them home I realized they were still extremely dirty. There is literally dirt still on them. Sunday they were closed and I work so I brought them back on the following Wednesday. I asked the owner if he could reclean them. He told me no, waiting four days is too late, and there's nothing he can. Please note the clothing was still in his dry cleaning bag. Um hello sorry, clean them? You are a dry cleaner. And also to note, when I had originally dropped off the skirts he told me it would be 6.90 per skirt. When I picked them up he told me it was 8.90 per skirt because they had pleats and they required extra special cleaning, yet they were not clean at all and dirt with still on them. He also refused to give me my money back yet I hadn't even ask for a refund I just asked for them to be recleaned. Don't waste your money, time or energy going to this place. read more

The staff is nice and service is what you would expect from a neighborhood dry cleaner. There is nothing special about this dry cleaner and they are bit over price. On a lark, I tried them. While they did an adequate job at cleaning my clothes, the prices do not justify using them when other dry cleaners in River North will do the same job at a better price. read more

This dry cleaners has always provided exceptional work. I have used them as a tailor as well and things always turn out great!! Even more, erie cleaners is run by exceptional people! I recently picked up my latest round of clothes, the owner was sewing face masks. He gave me a mask and advised how to best use it! He said that he ran out of elastic and deconstructed a dress to gather any bit of elastic to continue to make masks! He indicated "he's just trying to help out any way he can". read more

I had SUCH a bad experience here, and will never go back. I live right above it, so I went purely for convenience (and i was so excited that it was so close) My zipper on my long down coat broke the other day (and I got stuck inside for a good hour). I took it down to the cleaners out of desperation (they do alterations as well). The guy said if they can fix it, it would take a week. If they can't fix it and it needs a new zipper, they will CALL me to tell me to come pick it up. Price quote of $30 to fix it, which I think is a bit steep, but I need my coat for this freezing weather. Fast-forward a week. I go to pick up my coat. The guy says "so sorry--it will be ready tomorrow." No prob. I come back today. The lady brings out the coat--IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. She says "oh, they no tell you it can't be fixed? You need new zipper." No lady--they did not! You have had it for 8 days--and done NOTHING to fix it. No phone call. She then proceeds to tell me they can do it for $60 bucks, but it will be ANOTHER week. Sorry. I'll find someone else even it it takes more than a week just because your service has to be the worst ever. A side note: I haven't had anything dry-cleaned here, so I can't attest to that, but hearing other people get quoted while waiting in line, I can tell this place is pricey. read more

Hands down, the best Tailor and Customer Service in town. Very flexible and generous staff. I understand, no business can be 100% perfect. Yet, their 120% effort, knowledge and professionalism won my trust and business. Definitely, all the negative reviews from years prior to 2018 should be removed because it's not valid and does not reflect Erie Cleaners at all. read more

Very rude customer service and the cleaning products are harsh and shirts get faded and discolored. Their credit card processig machine does not work and they are incapable of punching in the numbers. Will never go back as they are rude and dis-respectful to customers. Steer clear, there are better options. read more

Eugene and Soo the owners of Erie cleaners came to my rescue. I was visiting Chicago for the weekend and needed two pairs of pants alterd. They did the alterations perfectly and the same day so I could have them for my return trip. I highly recommend Erie Cleaners!! read more

I've been going here about once a month for the past six months. The prices are what you'd expect for this neighborhood. I'm especially fond of their text service, which lets you know when your clothes are ready. This was especially helpful when I had an emergency and was able to get my clothes in at the last minute for a rush job, which came back the same day. On top of the text, the lady at the front desk actually called me to make sure I knew I could come get my stuff. That's service if you ask me! Speaking of service, the staff is friendly and polite. I don't know where some of these bad reviews are coming from. They always seem happy to see me and remember my name after going in there just half a dozen times so far. I'll keep going to Erie Cleaners for as long as I live around here. read more

I'm a bit shock by all the negative reviews. I take my dry cleaning here since I live next door and the owner is always polite. I trust them with my expensive clothes and coats. I haven't lost anything there yet. The alterations are expensive so definitely go elsewhere for that. read more

BEST CLEANER IN CHICAGO, and perhaps the best in the world :-) I hear that this is new ownership, so any past negative reviews should be reconsidered. Anyway, here are some highlights on why Erie Cleaners are so great: * GREAT WORK: From dry cleaning and laundry to tailoring and special requests, they do everything to perfection. * ATTENTION TO DETAIL: They follow directions we'll; also spot stains, missing buttons and issues that you don't even see and then fix them at your convenience. * FAST, CONVENIENT AND WELL-PRICED: Great turnaround time and their text notification when ready is nice. Also, they seem to be cheaper than other cleaners in the area and don't mark-up fees for small fixes. * PERSONABLE, OUTGOING STAFF WHO COMMUNICATES WELL: Any great customer service is valued, but these people go beyond great! Also, their English is strong (which is important when getting picky with alterations and special requests). They answer the phone when you call and clearly discuss your needs. They also remember your name and wish you well when leaving (they remembered I was leaving town and needing an impossible stain removed from my suit - they cleaned it to perfection and pressed it after 12pm drop-off for a next morning pick up, and then wished me safe travels... it's simply appreciated having a friendly touch on top of great, well-priced, quick work). Do yourself and your clothes a favor -- go to this cleaner! They are the best!!! read more

THE WORST SERVICE EVER. AVOID. This woman is INSANE. I've seen her yell at many people, and she charges a ridiculous amount. I went out of convenience, but this place should be shut down. That terrible woman screamed at my roommate, who had simply mentioned that the dress wasn't ready on time. The woman threatened to KEEP OUR CLOTHES and demanded the full amount in cash immediately. She charged $20 for one dress and one blazer, which wasn't ready in time as she'd promised, causing me two trips to this horrible place. $20 and one screaming match later.... NEVER GOING BACK. read more

They get the job done without any problems at all. My clothes always look great afterwards. So in that respect, they are fine. BUT they have no sense of customer satisfaction. Not very friendly or welcoming. One time I came in with only a credit card in my pocket, in a big rush to pick up my stuff. My bill came out to $14.75, and they have a $15.00 credit card minimum. The woman absolutely would NOT let me pay with a credit card, and so I had to go all the way home and back to get cash. It was really absurd considering that I am a pretty consistent customer. read more

Though friendly enough, they completely mixed up my girlfriend's dress with another customer's. We happened to have to go a wedding the next day, so I had a good 2 hours of driving through Chicago traffic on Friday before they closed. They gave me a $4.95 credit on my account... so that totally accounts for $25 dollar cleaning charge, 25 miles of gas, and hours of wasted time. read more

OK. So, if one person gets antagonized by the counter help, you might chalk it up to a bad day. But, here below, we find several reports of apparently the same woman screaming at the customers. Just sent a friend in from outside the neighborhood and he had the SAME experience. He wanted to think about the price and then returned...wanting to do business after all. Rest of the transaction was difficult and she was rude, argumentative. It really is too bad because he thought the quality was great. As did I. But, I never did end up going back after the dress/blouse confusion. read more

I've gone her since they opened and have had great experiences. I can't understand these other reviews, but highly recommend Erie Cleaners.

Super surprised at the negative reviews. I live up the street and have been using them often for 5 years without any problems. Good service, good people in my book. read more

Erie did excellent work repairing zippers on two coats. The repair looked better than the original manufacture. Quick, reliable and a good value on a durable repair that blended in exactly with the remainder of the garments. Very impressed with all phases of their business. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. Fully recommended. read more

Erie Cleaners does a terrible job cleaning garments and does not stand by their service. Stay away from this business. Pants came back with stains, which were not discovered until I was wearing them at work, and Erie Cleaners did not fix the problem and wanted to charge more to fix the pants. Just the worst. Go to Ontario Cleaners around the block. Erie Cleaners should be ashamed of itself. read more

Had a button on a shirt fixed. Had a pair of pants fixed. Good service and both the shirt and pants are nicely repaired. Thankew!

3 stars for just A-OK. I popped my head in here one morning before going to work to ask how much it would cost to dry clean a queen sized bed comforter. I was told 30 something by the woman at the front desk. I returned a few days later and a man collected my queen comforter and a small throw blanket that I keep on my couch. They promised a quick turnaround since it was the main blanket for my bed but I don't know if it was actually ready by the time I requested since I got tied up with other commitments and wasn't able to pick my items up until over a week later. I ended up being charged $42 for the queen comforter and was not able to negotiate when I mentioned that they quoted me a price in the 30's. The woman at the front desk said I had a very large blanket. Very large? A queen blanket is a queen blanket. The blanket was $29 which was very pricey- they labeled it as 1 twin blanket but it wasn't even as large as a twin. Would I return to Erie Cleaners? Maybe in a pinch since they're so close but probably not. No prices are listed so they seem free to charge you whatever they want. read more

When I lived on Ontario St., I walked past other dry cleaners to come to Erie Cleaners because of the quality of their dry cleaning, great alteration skills (even some very complex alterations), and their friendliness. I love their text notification when my items are ready, and often times, earlier than scheduled! Since we moved to the West Loop area over a year ago, and having tried several dry cleaners and alteration nearby, we concluded after couple months, it's worth the drive back to River North every week to come to Erie Cleaners! They are so friendly, flexible, accommodating of some rush jobs, and ALWAYs good quality cleaning and alteration service (I alter pretty much all my work pants and jeans and, often times, dresses for sleeves and hemming, shirts for pulling up the sleeves at the shoulders, creative button take-ins around the waist, etc.). I actually look forward to coming here than think of it as another dreaded choir or an errand! read more

True, they lack something in customer service - however, they do such a great job with the clothes that I don't really care. How can you not love a dry cleaner that picks the little fuzzies off of a sweater! read more

I recently moved to River North and Erie Cleaners was the closest one. I will agree with the other reviewers, the owner is not friendly at ALL! I went to pick up my clothes and my bill was $7 and I only had $6 in cash and I asked her if she can put the $1 on my next bill. (Of course they dont accept credit cards if the bill is below $15). So didnt give me my clothes. I told her that she just lost one client but she didnt care...... Thank God there are plenty of cleaners in the area! read more

Sincerely the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had with a business. The front of the store offers same day cleaning so I decided to give it a try even though I've heard horrible things about this place. I needed a dress dry cleaned in 24 hours. I dropped it off on Tuesday and came back on Thursday (giving her an extra day), but the dress wasn't ready. I was frustrated because I needed the dress, but figured that there was nothing that I could do. I returned on Friday and the dress was ready. I tried to explain to Sue, the horrible woman that every other review has referred to, that she should give me some sort of discount for not having the dress ready until Friday, but she immediately became defensive. She told me that the dress was so dirty that she had to clean it twice (untrue) and I had to pay the full price or she would not give me my dress. I tried reasoning with her and explaining that I shouldn't have to pay, but she lost it. She began yelling at me to leave or pay. I kept trying to reason with her, but then she physically grabbed the dress away from me and hung it up in the back. She told me that she was going to call the police if I didn't either pay or leave. Finally, completely irritated and in utter disbelief, I told her that I would pay full price if she just gave me the dress. She began yelling at me in a foreign language to get out. At that point, I became angry and insisted that she give me my dry cleaning. I placed my credit card on the counter and told her to run it. My total was $19.60 and there is a $15 minimum for credit cards, but she refused to run my card. I told her that she could either take my card or give me my dry cleaning for free. She ran my card and then hurled it across the store so that I had to pick it up off the floor. When I asked for my receipt she refused to give it to me. I had to physically walk behind the counter and pick it up off of the floor where she threw it. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE. THAT WOMAN IS INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL. I have never dealt with anyone like that in my life. Ontario Cleaners is a much better alternative and it's just one street over. read more

I had been going to this cleaners for a couple months because it was so convenient. When I walked the dogs I passed by it every day. They had done a good job on your typical dry cleaning stuff. I brought in a top that was white leather on the front and silk on the back. There is a huge sign on their window that they clean leather so I thought they knew what they were doing. I was told it would take a couple of weeks to clean. When I picked it up the entire top was yellow cream. I told her that they ruined my top. She told me I was lying. What really bothered me the most that when she said that, she was rolling her eyes like I made the mistake. I recommend that nobody should go there plus their prices are so expensive. read more

Erie Cleaners is disgraceful! I went to them to get 2 pairs of pants and a dress altered. I was charged $81.00 which is extremely high but I thought that meant I would get what I paid for. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The dress was still dragging on the ground and wasn't an even seam. I wasn't upset, I figured it's an easy fix and I can just go back. When I did, right from the start she was hostile with me. I tried the dress on with the same shoes so she could see what I was saying. Instead of offering to fix the problem she told me I asked for it to look this way and that she only charged me $14.00, and I would have to pay again to get it fixed. I asked in a very nice calm manner, why charge $14.00 if it wasn't going to be done right? She had no response. Personally, I would have rather she charged more from the beginning! Not only was she not willing to fix or hear anything I was saying she had a "so whatever attitude". She just didn't care and walked away and hid in the back. I was shocked and disappointed that I was being treated this way. Based on how she handled my situation I could tell she's done this to others. It's very sad and angering that she can treat people this way and not do the work I paid for! read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a cleaners. I brought my jacket which had a stain on it from someone spilling a light colored drink. I went to pick it up today the stain was about 50% removed. His first comment was came right out! When he handed it to me. I said do you see this it is still very noticeable. He immediately got defensive and said they dont guarantee anything and that I need to pay because they cleaned my coat. Offered to redo but i would have to sign off it it got damaged. I was not happy as they charged $22 and he was claiming he undercharged me and kept showing me some raincoat receipt. I asked can you get it out and he said thats not their responsibility, i said thats the only reason i brought this coat in. He then said HOW MANY PLACES DO YOU GO DO THIS TOO? He acted like i was trying to scam him when he wouldnt get the stain out. He kept sayin if I took the coat it would be theft even though I never once tried too. He said multiple times hes sick of having this conversation and I should read my receipt they dont promise anything. The most condescending offensive person I have ever dealt with. Paid my money and will never go back. A girl in the store said the exact same thing happened to her and followed me out to tell me how rude he always is. Just awful and rude service. Incompetent cleaners. read more

We have way too many cleaners in this river north area but erie cleaners is easily better than the ones around here. Ive been to Ontario Orleans and River north and they pretty much either lose my clothes or ruin my clothes even more by attempting to take stains out. Im a pretty high volume customer and they never lose anyt of my clothes and my dress shirts come out the best here because I think they hand finsh the shirts. Overall 5 stars in terms of quality of cleaning and press. 4 stars for customer service (the women behind the counter is nice but I wish she spoke better english; ultimately she means well). Alterations 5 stars easily, the best original hems; better than bogeslaw in the city. Definitely reccommend for cleaning and alterations. read more

This place is a constant rip off. Three times in a row I have gone in to collect my laundry and have been told the amount on my ticket was incorrect, and that I would be charged more. Plenty of other options in the area that don't rip you off, I will stick with them. read more

Poor customer service. Very disorganized. Cleaning was ok but expensive.

This is the WORST alteration/dry cleaners I have ever been to in my life. Takes them 2 weeks to clean or alter anything and the women who work there are EXTREMELY rude. They will not rush anything (when I say rush I mean as in have it ready in 2 1/2 weeks) and when I asked if I can take back my dress she still hasent cleaned/altered (after sitting there for a full week) she said no and refused to give me it back!!!!!!!! read more
