I decided to have my wedding dress altered here after my fiance had several sport coats done here as well (and we get all of our work clothes cleaned here every. Single. Week.). It was nerve wrecking because it's *the* dress, but I am honestly in such positive shock and delight! The alterations specialist, Angela, works absolute magic. My dress required a lot of the typical things: hemming (6-7 layers), slight body work to take it in, and a bustle mechanism sewed in. She communicated what she was going to do, made me feel so comfortable, and finished her work in... Drumroll please... 1 WEEK! I didn't even need or ask for rush and I've heard horror stories about my girlfriend's needing 3 months for address alterations. 1 week and the dress is actually perfect. Now I'm all in, for real. I decided my rehearsal dinner dress didn't fit quite right and had her take it in and add cups so I don't need to wear a bra - check, fits like a glove now. I decided to make custom jean jackets for my bridesmaids for a fun gift (and cute pictures, of course) - those required hand stitching of each the applique flowers I picked. Picked them up and they are flawless. TL;DR: They've been a fast and fine priced cleaner for years, but their alterations capabilities are a game changer. We're bringing all the things there now after nailing our wedding needs. read more

Today I parked in the 30 min loading zone ... owner of the shop tellls me I can't park there and makes a big fuss. I said I'll be back in 15 min and he says he pays money for that spot..... if that's the case there should be a sign it is just for Madison cleaners. First time at this cleaners & I must say I'm very satisfied. I brought a blazer in to be tapered a bit & a regular fit shirt to be turned into a slim fit & they both came back perfect. They even proactively offered to press both of them, which I realized really is necessary after having alterations done. I guess the price I paid is the standard. $35 for taking in a blazer or a shirt is around what you should expect. So this is definitely a place I will frequent. I will try again with three more shirts & another sportcoat I have & come back to give my review. But thus far, spot on dry cleaners. read more

Never again. I had 6 of 10 clothing items damaged from dry cleaning. I used to only bring in my husbands dress shirts and would return many to have the collars re-cleaned. Strange and annoying but their location was convenient. My most recent issue included 10 items total (both my husbands and my clothes). Picked up, inspected when I returned home. 1. Broken pull tab and top of zipper of a blouse. 2. Didn't remove stains from a white sweater. 3. 4. & 5. Ironed creases in 3 pairs of jeans after I requested "no seams." Creases left permanent white lines down all 3 pair. 6. Didn't remove stains from a blouse and on top of one the stain was snagged fibers. Went back to review all the 6 damages and the owners teamed up and argued (loudly) for over 20 minutes with other customers in line. Never once apologized. Instead they spitefully reimbursed me for the cleaning bill and also for damage to one blouse. Not worth the risk at this place. read more

*Customers Beware* A few friendly tips for Madison Cleaners: Tip # 1: Understand the concept of quality control/assurance. If your folks damage an article of clothing (i.e. lose buttons), please be sure to replace/fix the items prior to giving back to the customer. Tip #2: If you're going to charge customers for dry cleaning services, probably a good idea to actually dry clean the clothing. All the wire hangers and plastic in the world can't disguise the fact that my sports coat wasn't even remotely cleaned. The cat hair and obvious stains are always going to be a dead giveaway. This is the reason I brought it in for dry cleaning. Tip #3: When you tell your customers their garments will be ready for pick-up at/by a certain date & time, please fulfill your end of the bargain. I don't enjoy wasting my time any more than you do yours. Asking me to wait around for the truck to show up is never an ideal customer service approach. Your staff seems very friendly, but as virtually every corner in this city has a dry cleaner service, try to at least meet the minimum expectations. Thank you. read more

Madison Cleaners have single-handedly rejuvenated my clothes. They have cleaned all of my sweaters, my coats, and my work pants!! Also, when my boyfriend's family dog came to Chicago for the weekend and proceeded to make a massive stain on my white linen sofa, Madison Cleaners not only got the stain out but got the smell out!! cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

The only reason this place received two stars is because, when they actually do what you pay them to do, the quality is good. However, at baseline this place is insanely overpriced ($30 for a hem!). I paid said $30 for a cotton dress to be hemmed, and they basically cut material off the bottom and did not sew in a hem. When I returned to the store to ask for an actual hem, the woman who runs the place told me that cutting a gem in a straight line is the same price as a sewn hem. I love this couple!! I live in the building and take my stuff to get dry cleaned here about once every 2-3 weeks. They always have a smiling face and do an awesome job wash/pressing my button downs and any kind of spot cleaning on clothes!! They have a minimum before using your credit card (around $10) but its usually not an issue since I'm doing so much each time. I really like Madison Cleaners. Not only do they do a great job on dry cleaning and alterations, but they are very nice people. They always have a smile on their faces, and are very kind. I just picked up a few things today and the male owner even helped me bring my things to my car. His wife does a nice job on my alterations, even offering her shoes to me to check my pants at different lengths! Pricing is also very fair, even lower than the place I used to go to by work in the suburbs. I highly recommend. read more

Well...all good things come to an end. My wife's bright white dress slacks ended up gray. Although they cleaned them again...the slacks never returned to the original color. The woman working the counter tried to explain how difficult it is to clean white pants...they did not offer any other compensation. I will not be returning. read more

Honestly, I've been taking my husband's shirts (and my own clothes) there for over a year now. They are so accommodating - even when I come in with 30 shirts and ask them to be done in two days. I've even taken some bridesmaid dresses here for alterations which always turn out great! The nice man and woman who own the place are always so welcoming - and the man has brought my load of shirts out to the car for me on several occasions! One of the saddest things about moving out of the West Loop? Not having Madison Cleaners across the street!! They are amazing.

This is a feel good cleaners. Did not know there was such a thing, because I usually feel bad when I pay a lot of money to get clothes that were expensive to begin with clean. However, the husband and wife who own this place are so sweet, that I cannot feel too much remorse over the lost cash. The husband almost always insists on carrying my clean laundry to the car, and they readily fix minor repairs, like broken zippers, for free. My clothes always come back clean, and I think that their prices are competitive, though not cheap. Still, I would not go out of my way for a cheaper cleaner, because I feel like they go out of their way for me. read more

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this place. I take all of my dry cleaning here, and have never had an issue. They are always so nice and friendly. They are the only place I bring my dresses for alterations. The lady there does such a great job, and always goes over and beyond what is expected. Check your clothes at pickup!!! They can press your clothes- that's about it. Shirt collars come out say way I brought them in. When I pointed out that the stain I wanted them to take out was still there, they try telling me it was cleaned. Asked that pants not be creased and they did not follow directions. Worst dry cleaners around. I wasn't satisfied at the first time, but decided to give another try by mentioning if there any stains or sweat marks. Everything comes back from the cleaner - with stains and a stinky smell. I think they just iron the clothes and give back...not sure about the cleaning part. Horrible. read more

Owner is a scan artist! I brought in a bride's maid dress to get hemmed and the bust area lowered. I did not ask for the price before dropping off for I assumed it would be around $50-$75. I was not shown any base prices either and nothing was listed. I returned to see the dress which was done very well by the seamstress, but the owner then explained i owed $150 for this work. I was appalled!!!!! She said the hem had 3 layers and so she should have charged me $120 for that, but only charged me $90 then she rattled off 2 others costs that made no sense. I asked why she didn't tell me in advance and she said she didn't know if i would need more work, so she just couldn't quote me then. I said it was ridiculous and would never had come if i had any idea of their insane prices. She just kept repeating how she has to pay her employees lots of money to do quality work, while the seamstress mouthed "i'm sorry" to me. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!! read more

Madison Cleaners consistently does a great job with our standard dry cleaning (men's shirt, pants, dresses, and sweaters) and the customer service is great. Recently I brought in a Theory leather jacket I was VERY nervous to have cleaned (pricey and my favorite) and they did an wonderful job. I don't know if they outsource (it took just over two weeks) but regardless of whether they performed the cleaning themselves or had a third party take care of it, the piece looks brand new and there are no signs of damage.
