I had two perfectly poached eggs with fresh potatoe cubes cooked with onions and corn bread ( chioce or either cornbread or biscut for bread. Oh the coffee is amazing served in a huge cup with real half and half. I had ham it was really good looked to me to be hand carved and tasted and looked like it was grilled. The guy at the next table chatted with us as did another couple. Really a friendly good food place for breakfast. We go here regularly. I like to order the BBQ chicken legs. Delicious and a big portion so I get to take some home and sneak it the next day. I also like the cole slaw and the corn bread. And, I confess, I like the green beans although they are obviously out of a can. For lunch we like the salads, which are always nice and fresh and include some unexpected ingredients. My husband likes the ribs, which I don't eat because of the grease factor, but he's quite picky so I think the ribs are probably good. We've ordered the trip tip several times. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes not. I wish they would add some specials to the menu once in a while. Vallejo doesn't have a lot of good places to eat so we end up going to the same places over and over. It would be nice to have some variety. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The corn bread is thick and moist and my favorite is the green beans for some odd reason. My husband loves the hot links and potato salad. I like my ribs just rubbed but they offer sauce on the side if you like them sloppy. Get them to go or eat in the nicely glassed in room where you can see the sites of Sonoma boulevard. Went here on Cinco De Mayo after leaving a place in Benicia because of the wait... I am so glad that things worked out the way they did because this place is wonderful! Went by and picked up a combination platter. I was dissapointed. It was obvious these ribs had been sitting for a long time. The only thing that was good was the corn bread. It seems that when I eat there the ribs are great. But, when I order a take out order they have way too much fat. What's up with that. I've been searching for incredible BBQ here in the Bay Area for years now and almost gave up after getting food poisoning from Kinders. Well my quest is complete after trying Gracies! Incredible food...I had baby back ribs, green beans, and beans and rice. The meat fell off the bones, the sauce was wonderful and those were the best green beans I have ever tasted...(sorry grandma!) Well, where do I begin? I was really looking forward to trying Gracie's Family BBQ first because of the positive Yelp ratings and also because I had friends recommend it as an excellent place to eat. The photos of the restaurant on Yelp looked very enticing and we decided to try the food for ourselves. We arrived after 8:00pm and the place was nearly empty, so we found street parking right outside the front door. The neighborhood is one that I have heard was not so great but I guess we caught it on a quiet night - only one wailing ambulance and one shifty-eyed druggy passed by the whole time we were there, not bad at all. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated with lots of historic advertising signs, and sports memorabilia like SF Giants pennants, which gave it a cozy and relaxed vibe. When ordering drinks my husband asked which type of Dogfish Head beer they had, which was just a few feet away sitting in the glass display case. The server shrugged and said "I dunno, a dark one I think. I don't really know beers". Since you as the food server are selling the menu, shouldn't you know what you are selling? Even if you don't know what you are selling, you could certainly walk the five feet or so to the display case and read the label. If she had, she could have told him it was the 90 Minute IPA, his favorite. Strike 1 (the owner seems to be a sports fan so maybe he will appreciate the baseball analogy). For our entrees, I ordered hotlinks with potato salad and slaw, and added a side green salad. My husband ordered the ribs and hotlinks with the mac and pasta salads. Before I get into the negatives I will say I enjoyed the slaw because it was not soggy and it had cranberries it it. Now for our laundry list of complaints: The "hot links" are not hot - at all. They did not taste bad, they just had zero heat to them. They don't have any spicy barbeque sauce either. What a disappointment. The cornbread was some of the worst I have ever had and I had to douse it with butter and honey to make it edible. The potato salad was so dry and had zero flavor. The ribs and sides my husband ordered were nothing special, and he couldn't even pull the meat away from the ribs with just a fork because it was so tough. He also echoed my sentiments about the cornbread and the spicy barbeque sauce. Strike 3. So the food didn't work out, but to add insult to injury (literally), I realized the owner was sitting with his daughter at the table behind ours the entire time, eating his dinner and chatting with a friend. They never looked up at us, never greeted us. never asked us how the food was. It was very obvious to me he didn't care what we thought of his food or his restaurant, and believe me I don't think much of it. I will not be returning to Gracie's. read more

I moved to Vallejo about ten months ago and this has become one of my favorite places to eat. I haven't had anything there that I didn't like. Their salads are huge and filing and their tri-tip is delicious! I personally love their breakfast menu and take everyone that comes to visit from out of town there at least once. If you haven't tried their french toast, you are missing out! The staff is amazing. They remember my order when I walk in, are always happy to see me, and are genuinely nice to everyone. It gets busy sometimes (which is understandable, the food is awesome) but they still try to check on you to make sure you don't need anything. This place is an amazing asset to the neighborhood. They have a great environment to come and relax in while you eat. There are a ton of regulars that are hilarious, and it's just an overall great place to eat. read more

We were in town to go to Six Flags and wanted to try something different from the usual chain restaurants. We decided on Gracie's. we loved the charm of the building but constantly battled our 2 y/o because there wasn't enough high chairs. The sweet tea was okay, the chicken was good and moist, the hot link was spicy and perfectly cooked. The biggest problem I had was the tri-tip that everyone was raving about on Yelp. The tri-tip was dry, over cooked and flavorless. I was pretty disappointed. Our local BBQ chain, Dickey's does a better job on meat. For the price, we should have went to Red Lobster near our hotel. Maybe it was just an off night but from my experience I wouldn't go back again. I think this could have been a way better experience if they were better stocked on high chairs (family atmosphere) and put a little more love in the tri-tip! read more

This place is freaking awesome dudeski! I became a fan after the first visit! i seen the comercials and realized it was just down the street from my house. Once i decided that I wasn't going to be a lazy bastard anymore I took my good friend and myself down to this good family food joint I've been so excited to try. My first impression was, "wow, this place reminds me of the good ol' days." I loved everything about it. the food was great. The weather was great. (It was a bright sunny day and we sat outside and enjoyed some good sun) I highly recommend this good eat joint to anyone in the area or just visiting. Vegetarians! There is still hope in a BBQ restaurant!! Gracie's "Bacon & Bleu" salad - ask for it without the bacon for vegetarian - is one of the best salads EVER. My family likes the BBQ, and for me just having the salad is a very satisfying meal, even w/o the meat. Also it's nice to sit "outside" in the veranda area on a warm day. I was frantically looking for something different for my girls' 5th birthday party and decided to call Gracie's and ordered barbecued chicken. Oh my gosh! I am picky when it comes to barbecued chicken and or meat but I loved it. The portions are good if not great and the sides are very tasty. I'd say there was only one instance that we had to wait for over 30 minutes but that was because they started on a new batch of chicken when we got there. The staff is great, very accomodating and patient. The location is okay, parking is mostly street parking. I commend the owner for his story of how he got started in the business, neat story. Look it up on the wall and read it. it is inspirational. They just added more outdoor seating it seems. Unfortunately, Vallejo does not have a lot of "good outdoor sceneries" yet although it is getting better. I just don't think I am ready for that. read more

Gracies is the best BBQ in Vallejo. However, they have gotten lazy and are riding their reputation. The Chicken, Ribs, and Links are good, depending upon the day. I have eaten at Gracies at least 20 times and their is a huge difference in the meat from day to day. Every time I have ever had the tri-tip it was dry. I will not bother to order it anymore. (At least 5 times) I go to Trail Dust in Morgan hill for Tri-tip. The BBQ sauce is awesome. Sides are OK, but not original. I expect the macaroni salad and potato salad are not made on site, as they have the distinct institutional flavor. Staff has always been acceptable, although smiles are not one of their strong points. Value seems OK, considering it is Vallejo, there aren't a lot of options. read more

Appeals to a good cross section of people. I got take out, three dishes: 5-piece chicken, sampler platter, and a tri-tip. The tri-tip was way below average, limp, not worth it. The hotlinks and chicken were great and the ribs pretty good. Three other adults tried the fare and they all liked it better than I. I would give a 3-star but bumped it b.c. the other people really liked it. The spice is a Ca sauce was tangy, not hot, but very tasty. I've been to the Sparks BBQ cook off and have had much better ribs, but Gracies was fine fare to appeal to most folks. The chicken was great. We had all 6 sides. - The cole slaw was weak, it had costco crasins in it. - The green beans were overdone but very tasty. - The cornbread a little above averge; they add oil to prevent it from getting too dry - Red beans and rice were NOT cajun style, about average fare. - Suace really good - Potato salad was Very Good, the best side. Not sure why the complaints about price. We fed 4 adults and 4 children for $61 and still had Half the food left over. Very happy with the portions. The food was provided on time and hot. I interacted with two staff in a very short wait/payment. One was tired and hot - but friendly, the other right on the ball and excellent. I recommend for a large group that needs a variety of food available that appeals to most tastes; middle of the road yet satisfying. read more

When I dine in I couldn't get better service. The last time I went I placed an order to go. My ALL meat salad had about two pieces of meat and my coworkers salad LITERALLY had two strips of chicken? The WORST part is I located two hairs in my salad. YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR WORKERS TO PUT THEIR HAIR BACK AND WEAR HAIR NETS...THIS IS DISGUSTING AND I CANNOT EAT THERE AGAIN! Not to mention the service was horrible. The young man and young woman who were at the front were too busy flirting with each other and talking about customers that the young man filled up my cut half way because his concentration was somewhere else. I brought my coworker there, bragged about your food and service. She will never return there and nor will I. I felt so bad for the staff working there, who had this vibe like someone was about to hit them, so it kind of colored my experience. I felt the BBQ was overpriced, even as compared to other BBQ places in the Bay Area & Vallejo in specific. I didn't like the BBQ--all the food was pretty bland and lacking character.
