I was so excited to go to Gracie's for the 5 course tasting and wine pairing but boy was I disappointed. If you are interested in beautifully presented bite sized morsels of food and minuscule amounts of wine then this is for you. However, for $540 for 4 people( not including tip) , $160 of that was for the wine pairing....absolutely not worth it. We should have ordered ala carte and got a couple of bottles of wine and then maybe we wouldn't have left hungry and in need of a decent pour of wine. Live and learn... I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 for the service which was good. But at a price of$185/person (after tip and one drink each) it was overpriced and overrated. read more

I have heard a lot about this place for years from people ages 21-75+ and it deserves all the hype. The food and wine pairing for each coarse is worth the "splurge". ( More bang for your buck) Customer service is top notch, even sitting at the bar felt personable. The bread (3 different kinds) was amazing with different spreads. That was just the begining to a wonderful evening. The appetizers and entrees where phenomenal. Top it off with a lovely desert, or my personal favorite a liquid dessert. They had the best espresso martini I have ever had, it is my go to drink to try everywhere. I went with a friend who can share and between the two of us we tried the gnocchi, beet salad, sword fish, rigatoni, creme brulee, and chocolate coffee cake. Each had a different wine that pair beautifully and the bartender/waiter was very knowledgeable. Then they gave a little freebie with a macaron from their sister restaurant (Ellie's) another place I have hear a lot about. I am not someone whom likes going back to the same places, but I will be going back here again and bringing more of the people I love with me to share such a great experience. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Gracies this Saturday for their restaurant week menu. It was such a great deal to try out some great places in the area. You get an appetizer, entree and dessert for each person. I got the gnocchi, rigatoni and cake and to top it off they brought tastings in between each of the main meals. So first the gnocchi, so flavorful and such a huge portion especially for one person. By the time I got the rigatoni I was already starting to get full. It was so delicious. The sausage was the perfect amount of spicy. They also topped it with some onion micro greens (so delicious!!). The cake was the real show stopper. It came with some passion fruit sorbet. The flavor was so strong and tarty it was perfect. I definitely would head back again! read more

Gracie's - New American Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

I went here for a friend's birthday party in their private room downstairs. The decor was beautiful and intimate, and the servers were kind and attentive. We ordered from a limited menu picked specifically by my friend's partner who had planned the birthday dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. Of the six dinner attendees, 5 of them ordered steak. I was the only one who ordered the chicken dish. It was absolutely delicious! Excellently seasoned! I went home that night sated and raving about the food... and then woke up early and the morning violently ill. Yup, food poisoning. I blame myself 90% because I thought I saw a tinge of pink when I started eating it at the restaurant, but it was kind of dark and everyone around me said "of course it's fine! (As people do). I should have sent it back to the kitchen, so that part is on me. But I'll put 10% of the responsibility on Gracie's for serving undercooked poultry. I was sick for 3 days by the time all was said and done. This will not stop me from going back, and it shouldn't stop you from giving them a try! Just make sure you double check your chicken and trust your gut if things seems suspect, haha read more

Just had an unforgettable meal at Gracie's - we did the 5 course chef tasting and from start to finish the meal, the service, the setting - all were absolute perfection. I have two dietary restrictions and they made sure every course met my needs without any hesitation. The presentation was unbelievable and the flavors were so memorable. Major props to the chef there and everyone who helped us tonight - we were beyond impressed. Can't recommend them enough and can't wait to go back! Probably top 5 meals! read more

Left before I even tried the mediocre looking food. Had to stand for 20 min at the bar without water or drinks when a waitress came to us to start. The ambiance makes absolutely no sense. They don't even have the same patterns on their cushions. And stars on the tables?!? Who had that idea. No idea how this place is well known. I went to Mills instead. Infinitely better. It actually deserves the Michelin star this place somehow got. read more

I'm updating my previous review as the manager, Steven, reached out to me to address the experience we had the last visit. I'm leaving the score the same pending another visit, but I'm impressed by their follow up to my review. I'm very impressed that he not only took the time to contact me, but that he listened respectfully and openly to my comments. We discussed the various concerns I raised in my review on a point by point basis and ended on a positive note. A couple of interesting notes - they are going to switch to dry-aged steaks, which is indicative that they take criticism to heart. I've seen more than a few reviews address the steaks in the past. The other is that there's a scheduled renovation to the decor, for later this year. All of this tells me a lot about the ownership/management. I told Steven that I'd ask for him on our next visit, which I plan to do in the near future. read more

We're still fairly new to Providence, so we went here on a recommendation. Celebrating a birthday (which they knew) - our table had a special birthday card and every person that came to our table greeted me with a "Happy Birthday". It was well orchestrated and thoughtful. I would highly recommend this place for special occasions. And to add to the great night, the food and drinks were both fantastic. There were small tasters that came to the table in between meals that were fun and well executed. I don't know that I've ever felt so genuinely looked after during a dining experience. Often times (at other restaurants), the servers and staff that tend to drinks and bread seem rushed and impersonal. That was not the case here. We had a great experience from beginning to end! read more

OK, so put ur children to bed b/c this next story is inappropriate for anyone under the tender age of 12. ok so we chillin at a gentlemens club in providence, rode island, and my homie is getting really riled up. Like he keeps leaning over and whipsering "i think imma slap a stripper son" and im like "nooooo du, we gonna get kicked out of this chill establishment" and homie just looks at me with a stupid grin and im all "oh shit he finna slap a cheek" lo and behold dear readers my homie slaps a stripper's butt cheek with more power and fury than a million volcanoes exploding at once stripper is knocked down by the sheer force of homie's extended open palm and her cheek burns brighter than a thousand suns. the chief of the strip club comes over to us and he's just like "nope, no way, nope." long story short we get kicked out of the strip club and we all :'( :'( :'( so homie suggests we lighten our heavy hearts at a local restauraant called" gracies" and im all "ok" gracies is a modern american restaurant in providence RI that is also conveniently located acreoss the street from a gentlemens club (aka strip club) we invited the stripper my homie slapped because we felt really bad, and I think she had a good time we got the 5 course menu which is the most gangster choice of dining experiences because 7 courses is absurd and only peasants and bougie assholes eat à la carte. the stripper (her name is dior) is getting real aggressive regarding wine choices, and the establishment is real good about accomodating her exotic tastes (i.e. they got some good italian muscadeto wine for the discerning stripper) While we are numming some delicious treats (i.e. pastas w/ duck meats, crispy pan-friend fluke, house mortadella), Dior tells us her life story which is really important to relate to you: Dior was a brown university student that, once she graduated, realized that Brown university is a shit school that educates borderline idiots with no motivation in life (her words, dont kill messenger pls). She cant get job and spends all day cryin. Brown university presenident sends her an email informing Dior that there is an opening at his favorite strip club and that he wants to see her nekked, and she is forced to accept this vulgar proposal in order to support her self. the decor is pretty nice at gracies, but nothing wild. The food is srsly great #realtalk and will make you want to eat until you dead. I almost died eating here b/c it was so good. It's nice to go somewhere that really takes its time with every part of the dining experience NAHMEAN?????????????????????????????????? 10/10 very great!!!!! ahhahaha THANKS GRACIES SORRY BOUT THE SLAP DIOR read more

When life gives my husband and I reason to celebrate (our anniversary, the end of the school year [we're both teachers], birthdays, etc.) we have come to find ourselves at Gracie's again and again. Why so repetitive in our dining habits? Brace yourself, because I'll probably never say this about another restaurant again in my life: Gracie's has not, will not, and could not ever disappoint us. Is it expensive? Yes. We've never had a bill that after a tasting, a couple of drinks, and tip come below $200. Is it worth our money? Every penny. There are plenty of other eateries in Providence that could take as much of our money and perhaps give us bigger portions, or a better location (although I personally like being across from the Trinity Rep and find the glow of neon from the nearby Satin Doll amusing) but the food and overall experience wouldn't be as rewarding. I enjoy the little bonuses of eating at Gracie's- the decor, the service, the ambiance, the free valet that leaves delicious fresh cookies in our car. Speaking of cookies, there isn't enough I could write about the food so I'm not going to bother saying anything except that we always try the tasting menu. We both have enough faith in the chefs at Gracie's that we trust whatever food they'll bring out to us will be of the absolute highest quality, even in food we wouldn't normally order or eat. If Gracie's has prepared it, it's worth trying. read more

There is a reason why Gracie's, year after year, continues to be one of the premier dining establishments in Providence. From an intimate date night dinner, to a private get together with friends, Gracie's is top notch not only for their food but also for the service and overall incredible dining experience. One of my favorite parts about the menu at Gracie's is that they offer a year round 3 course pre-fixe menu for $45 per person and based on the quality of the food here, it's honestly worth every dollar. Last visit I started with the gnocchi w/ braised rabbit, every bite seemed to just melt in my mouth and was so tasty. The 2nd course I went brook trout which was cooked perfectly & full of flavor. And for dessert I had to go with my favorite, the vanilla crème brulee, which was delicious and a perfectly sweet ending to the meal. For getting a 3 course meal the portion sizes are perfect and by the end of the meal I was definitely feeling very content. I also love that fact that they bring around fresh bread for you to choose from and little palate cleansers & bites from the kitchen during your meal as well...it's little extra touches that just add to the meal. Besides the food itself, the staff here goes above and beyond to make sure you have a truly wonderful experience. The wait staff is very knowledge and extremely friendly, they have bartenders who can make some fantastic cocktails and even the valets, who leave you a couple little cookies in your car to take home with you. I find myself telling people, if you are looking for an amazing meal and special night out, then Gracie's is the place that certainly will not disappoint. Take the opportunity to experience and enjoy this culinary gem in downtown Providence, you'll be so happy that you did. read more

A great little spot! And almost hidden gem in the city of Providence. If you're going to splurge, this is definitely the place to do it. Very classy, upscale place to bring friends who are visiting in town, especially those who like the finer things in life. Place is kind of small and reservations are highly expected. But even with the reservation, expect to wait a bit. Bonus is the free valet parking. Oh... The best part? When you pick up your car from valet, there's a cookie there! Definitely left the best impression! read more

Gracie's was an absolutely mind blowing culinary experience. The food, the service, and the amazing atmosphere all made for one amazing evening out on the town. We finally made our way to Gracie's for restaurant week and it was a night we could never forget. Each delectable course was better than the previous one. The restaurant itself is beautiful with dim lighting, a "wish upon a star" themed decor, and intimate seating. I was in awe of how lovely the space was and it was accented with soft classical music and delightful candlelight. They are staffed with an efficient, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable team of personnel. They really make you feel welcome and make sure that you are having an awesome experience every step of the way. Our server took our order and not too long after we were greeted by a friendly gentleman offering up fresh baked bread of different varieties. I highly recommend the cranberry kind and the fantastic beer/honey bread. They are absolutely divine. They are spectacularly accompanied by some delicious whipped butter. We also had a great amuse bouche of a nutty and flavorful cheese. We started out our meal with appetizers of a field greens salad with a sherry vinaigrette and the house made gnocchi. The gnocchi was truly heaven. My husband was tickled by our offering of some tasty grapefruit sorbet to cleanse our palates. Our main course was the duck leg and the spicy and savory rigatoni. The duck leg was tender and perfectly accompanied by marinated veggies and currents. Our desserts were the sweet and scrumptious finale that we could only have dreamed of. By far the chocolate hazelnut mousse was the belle of the ball with some of the most delicious ice cream (brown butter) I have ever tasted. Our meal, from start to finish, made our taste buds jump for joy. The staff treated us like royalty, never letting our water glasses go unfilled or a dirty plate sit still for more than a moment. The hostess even put my coat on for me at the coat check. I am a sucker for a place that really leaves an impact on me. More than just wow that was good food, Gracie's was an all around great Everything. read more

Make sure you wear your fat pants when dining here. I got the 3 course pre-fix paired with wine. I felt that everything was reasonably priced for the amount of food given during the tasting. The course started off with a roasted/ marinated zucchini hor d'oeuvre, first course was a tomato green salad with homemade tortia chips paired. next they brought over a coconut lemon sorbet followed by the main course, homemade pasta with fresh mushroom sauce, chickpea bread with chutney, and burrate with peach and corn. the last meal was a goat cheese cheesecake that had accents of popcorn that made it crunchy, blueberries, and extremely fluffy vanilla ice cream. I received the check with 2 mini macaroons and the three wines were all paired perfectly to the meal! It was an amazing fresh meal. I will say the server was a bit sassy and could have been a little nicer. read more

We truly were looking forward to our first experience at Gracie's to celebrate our engagement. We have heard so many great reviews on the food and service. Although we thought the food was delicious, the service from our waitress was short and rude. We observed her being very attentive to her other tables but continuously ignored us. Our wait time for service became so long that we thought about leaving. We emailed the restaurant to make them aware of the terrible service but never received an email back. The email we sent on 5/14/17 is below. "I had reservations at your restaurant for 8:15pm last night. Although I thought your food was amazing, our service was unacceptable. I am not the type to complain but I think you should be aware of the short and inattentive service we received. She came off very rude and quick with us as if we weren't worthy of her time. I observed her being very attentive to other tables but she continuously ignored us to the point where we almost left. We have heard such great things about your restaurant which is why I felt I should personally email you. Thank you for your time." We felt that Gracie's was a beautiful restaurant with delicious food so I hope this review highlights the changes they need to make with the service. read more

Oh, Gracie's. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I've been dying to come to Gracie's for awhile now...I was finally able to go for Summer 2013 Restaurant Week. First, everything on the restaurant week menu was practically perfect in every way. After a lovely offering of four different types of bread (with an awesome salted butter), we had an amuse bouche of some sort of fish. Then, I had the peach and tomato salad, which was followed by an amazing lavender sorbet. Then, I had the fish offering, which was followed by an amazing cheesecake with an espresso crust. Gracie's threw yet more food at us with a tiny, fun-sized, orange-blossom macaron. Oh, wait...when we got into the car, there were the famous cookies, just waiting for us. Everything, from the salad to the entree to the dessert, was inventive and just so very special. My boyfriend ordered different things than I did for every course, and everything he ordered was amazing as well. Including, what I think might be The Best Creme Brûlée In Rhode Island. Gracie's absolutely lives up to the hype, and I can't wait to come back and try their full menu offering. It's a treat, and every step of the process is just tremendous. read more

Visited Gracie's for my mother's birthday. Started with the baby greens salad and so did my dad. It was spring mix taken out of the bag and placed on the plate. It was supposed to have blue cheese on it but they must have forgot. For dinner I had the rigatoni which was good but nothing special. Dad had the black bass. It was extremely tiny portion and was not cut properly so his filet contained bones. A trained chef should never end up with bones in his filet. Mom had scallops which she said were good but had sand in one of them. Also a really small portion. We did not stay for dessert mainly because we were just not impressed. Overpriced and I could have made a better Birthday dinner at home. Update: Woman below offer to provide a giftcard so we could try Gracie's again (we certainly wouldn't be paying to eat there again at this point). She never responded to my emails and so far (after a month) no giftcard has appears. Don't be fooled by there attempt to make things right. read more

I had heard good things about Gracie's and convinced my husband to spend our extremely rare date night there.. And spend we did. While the food was very good, it certainly wasn't amazing, and the portion sizes are so ridiculous it's insulting. We ordered the cheese plate to begin and was told "the cheese plate is rather large". The server apparently meant the actual PLATE. There was one tiny, thin sliver of 4 cheeses, 3 mini camemberts smaller than a Rolo, and a tiny ball of blue cheese. We actually laughed when the plate was presented. The cheese was very good, but not even an adequate appetizer portion for one. And, no, we aren't fat Americans who supersize. My husband then ordered the Rainer cherry salad and this was the worst joke of all. 6- I COUNTED- BABY leaves of lettuce on the plate. And one was broken, so really, 5. A few cherries. $12. I ordered the russet potato gnocchi appetizer, which was good, but it was really a shredded chicken mini stew with a few gnocchi dropped in. ? The halibut was perfectly cooked but flavorless, and my husband's chicken breast again suffered greatly from portion-to-price-itis. And, let me tell you, we are French. We understand and support the small farm-to-table movement, and quality does cost. But dropping close to $200 for what we were served was painful. I appreciate what the restaurant is trying to do, but if it weren't for the 6 pieces of bread and 4 pieces of focaccia my husband and I ate (which you have to keep asking the server for, one by one -another cheap & stingy arrangement which left us feeling like we had to beg for food that should have been freely offered to us), we would have left Gracie's feeling robbed AND hungry. We'll pass. read more

Land a second date. Pop the question. Woo a client. Indulge your innermost foodie fantasies. If there is one place in Providence where you will invariably enjoy a five star meal sans pretension, and achieve near-certain success with any four of those aforementioned goals, Gracie's is it. When anyone asks me for a rundown of the top restaurants in the city, Gracie's is usually the first and fastest word out of my mouth. The menu is filled with local, seasonal and creative dishes. The service is warm, smart, informed, crisp perfection. You'll often have a couple of servers dedicated to overseeing different aspects of your experience, each there to ensure that it's as flawless as possible. I've enjoyed both restaurant week prix fixe offerings and a five course tasting menu with wine pairings at Gracie's. I always come away thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail that is apparent in every aspect of a meal here. This place can hold its own against the greatest dining options in New York City, such as Le Bernardin, where I've noticed the same wonderful tension of flair and restraint displayed on plate after memorable plate. The crowning glory of a dinner at Gracie's comes as a delightful surprise on your way home from the restaurant. The valet has tucked a bag of fresh, delicious chocolate chip cookies discreetly into your car's cup holder. It's probably your second dessert of the evening, but don't deny yourself this one, final indulgence: they are meant to be finished before you get home. It's the best possible closure to a beautiful evening. Way to "say goodnight, Gracie's!" read more

this restaurant is just. UNREAL. delicious food, attentive staff, impeccably decorated + fantastic valet service. They have a lovely dining room, a bar area + private rooms below the restaurant that are perfect for a private dinner/party. The food is just immaculate-- full of flavor + an assortment of bread for days. I have tried many of their entrees + never have been disappointed. You can taste the fresh local flavors of RI. you can NOT go wrong here. it isn't on the cheap but you will not be disappointed in any way. if you want a night of perfection, this is your kinda place. read more

We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary here last night..and it was a great choice. The service at Gracies is top notch...without being stuffy. Upon arrival they had set out a sweet card for us and star glitter on the table...whuch set a celebratory mood. Our server came by with some complementary cava to toast with as well. Nice touch! Ok..the eats...The bread is off the chain..the offerings were duckfat cornbread ( my favorite), foccacia and a spinach feta sourdough. We were presented with a roasted eggplant amuse bouche before our starters came out: rustic potato gnocchi and the soft cooked hen egg. Both delicious..the gnocchi was like autumn in a bowl! A sorbet was a beautiful palette cleanser. We both chose the ribeye as our main and split the creme brulee. I highly recommend Gracies to anyone looking for fresh, seasonal and well thought out food in a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. read more

Overpriced. Service was terrible (the waiter was so weird). I have been to Gracie's on multiple occasions, and have never been impressed. The dinner menu is a 'prix fixe' menu, though there really isn't anything 'fixe' about it (eg. add $15 for steak, $5 for salad, etc.). The steak which is what everyone raves about, was really not very good. The smoked octopus was rather smoke with octopus on the side (way too smokey). The only saving grace is the wine selection, but this is also rather expensive for what it is. In all, I am really not quite sure what all the rave about this place is about, and would avoid at all costs. read more

This spacious venue knocked out our large group with its food and service. We came on our friend's birthday, which coincided with the gay pride parade, running right by the restaurant's front door. Neither our large party or the chaos of the night seemed to phase the place, which put us in a beautiful corner booth. When the birthday boy went to the little boys' room, we told our server that it was his big day. She said they'd put a candle in his dessert, but "we don't sing, because it's embarrassing." So true! We, however, would be free to sing if we liked. Our server noticed we'd all opened the menu to the prix fixe menu--of course we had, since it's really such a deal. $40, and with items from the rest of the menu. We had lots of questions and she was very patient and thorough in answering them all. We were surprised by thoughtful and clever amuses bouche between courses. There was a little confusion when a bottle of wine we did not order came to the table; later, there was an echo of this confusion when this bottle appeared on the check, but everything was resolved easily. The rabbit and gnocchi appetizer was a delicious combination of textures and flavors. It was heavy on the salt, in a very appropriate way. The flavorful mix could also work well as an entree. The duck came in a large portion and was also salty in a way that seemed right. Fresh white radishes were a palate cleaning surprise. The creme brulee was everything it is supposed to be, and then some--very rich and wonderful. We sang Happy Birthday in cheerful whispers. Gracie's created a special night with grace and also with value. The sophistication and comfort of this restaurant made it a highlight of our visit to Providence. read more

We were very disappointed in the service. Not sure why it gets such high ratings ?! 5 star menu and prices and 2 star service. One shining light in the service was Liz. She was running around clearing plates , setting silverware , bringing food etc. she was great , but there was only one of her for the dining room. Our waitress was slow, I think we saw her twice during our 2+ hour 7 course tasting. We tried to do the wine pairing with the tasting but the service was so excruciatingly slow we gave up and ordered a bottle of wine. Great bread. Might be worth it if you DONT GET THE TASTING. Not worth the money. Decor is disjointed. Should be more upscale. The big stars everywhere are cheap and tacky. We won't return . read more

I don't think I could write a detailed-enough review to give Gracie's justice, but it's impeccable in every way: the presentation of each course, the complimentary sides, the emphasis on fresh, local foods, the uniqueness and creativity of the flavors of each dish, the friendly service... the list goes on and on! Make sure you block out 3-hours for 3+ course-meals, and be sure to make a reservation in advance! The valet is wonderful too: we had circled around for 10 minutes trying to find parking before realizing Gracie's had a complimentary valet! Definitely recommend for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. read more

A five Star review but I am docking one point for a specific server whose been there every time we gone.. Continue read to see why I gave a point deduction. This is probably our favorite restaurant in Providence. It's somewhat expensive and would be considered fine dining, but it's actually affordable if you wanted to go eat really nice but not break the bank. The quality of the food is amazing. Every dish we've had here was exquisite and the portions are awesome. I've really enjoyed the Duck dish and the Rigatoni as an entree. You also can't go wrong with the Foie Gras and the Gnocchi as starters. I know they change their menu to keep things fresh but those have been on the menu every time we've went. They also get their Macarons from Ellie's bakery next door which is a delight it self. The service is excellent though we had one server spoiler Game of Thrones for our friends when we specifically told him they hadn't caught up yet. Seriously, have you no common sense dude, we told you not to give spoilers? ... It was about season 3 episode 9/10 if you guys were wondering. Anyways... I love this place and will continue to go here, even if that server is still there. Though next time I will give him a piece of my mind if he tries to ruin the a show for us again read more

Love. It is a complicated phenomenon, no? Love is sure to have started wars, and ended them; has the infinite power to create, and destroy; drives mere mortals to commit incredible feats, or unspeakable cruelties. Entire genres of the world's films, novels, music, and art, have been dedicated to this idea; and yet, none of them come close to describing my affection for Gracie's. A pre-fix dinner at Gracie's is like watching Diego Rivera paint a mural; it's diverse, it's colorful, and in the end, it comes together beautifully, leaving the observer with a mixed sense of joy, satisfaction, humility, and longing (predominantly, for a larger stomach). I happened to dine here during restaurant week, which in my opinion, is the best deal of the year. Having the pleasure of sharing the experience with my girlfriend, I also was able to try everything she had; so in a sense, it was like getting 6 courses instead of 3. We started our meal with two similar cocktails (i can't remember what they were, save that both contained St. Germain). Both were expertly mixed and served, and a delight to consume. The first food we were greeted with was an array of freshly baked breads; having been a patron of Ellie's in the past (although Gracie's begot Ellie's...way to do things backwards), I knew to expect excellent quality, and I was far from disappointed. The first course consisted of Jeffrey's Baby Greens Salad for my lovely lady, and Russet Potato Gnocchi for myself. This would be a good time to say that I have, for all my life, abhorred anything mushroom related; yet strangely, I found myself delighted by the flavors and textures that the gnocchi had to offer. In between courses, we were given a house-made sorbet, to cleanse the palate; it was crisp and refreshing. My girlfriend ordered the Crescent Farms Duck, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare (as the chef recommends!), and was mind-numbingly superb. I took the risk of getting the market fish, which turned out to be swordfish; again, another example of a food that in the past, I have not been a huge fan of, yet was showcased ingeniously here. A spoonful of fresh vegetables followed, presumably again to provide a sufficient cleanse. I had previously been told of the wonders of the Gracie's Crème Brulée, and if anything, those wonders were understated. I literally laughed at how good this dessert was. My girlfriend was the lucky recipient of the Cloumage Cheesecake, which was also delicious (although if I had to chose, the crème brulée definitely wins). All in all, it is self-evident, that I left Gracie's with the utmost respect and satisfaction. I can not more highly recommend a visit to this wonderful establishment. read more

Eating here was an absolutely fantastilicious experience. I went with two really good friends of mine just to celebrate life and be merry and chose Gracie's because it seemed like a classy place. Everything we ordered was made to perfection and all tasted so fresh. We all went for the $30 3-course prefix (mine was a little more because I ordered the scallops...but so worth it!). The beet salad was beautiful -- beets with gem hues on a bed of fresh greens complimented by ginger pecans. My friend's butternut squash soup tasted like no other I've ever had -- rich tasting, but not overwhemingly creamy or thick, with a very pronounced fruity squash flavor. I have to admit I had a bit of food envy! My scallop dish was composed of local scallops with perfectly roasted brussel sprouts and a vegetable hash on the side. I can't even verbalize how good those scallops were: cooked just right with a little sear on the edges, tender and sweet. It made a good counter to the hearty brussel sprouts. Of course I tried my friends' entrees: one of them ordered the duck and the other the Idaho trout. Both were so delicious I don't really think I could choose a favorite! Dessert was beautiful as well. Everything was as seasonal and local as possible. The servers were so charming. The whole place is so charming. If you're willing to splurge a bit, please do yourself a favor and eat at Gracie's!! read more

I dined here for restaurant week with my boyfriend. It was 30 dollars for a three-course meal and I recommend every person to dine here when restaurant week comes around twice a year in Providence. First off, the service here is spectacular. They have valet and complimentary coat check. Our waiters (Allen and Travis) were so informative and pleasant. One was a beer connoisseur and gave us the full run down on what beers would pair well with our meals and dessert and even offered complimentary tastings. We decided on the Goose Island Pepe Nero Belgian Farmhouse Ale. The decor is elegant yet cozy. They had very inspirational plating! Our amuse-bouche and palate cleansers were served on a plate that had a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote on it. "Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams." We ordered the russet potato gnocchi, the roasted beet salad, the swordfish, the duck, the bread pudding, and the chocolate banana cake. The amuse-bouche was a roasted potato with pancetta and a celery leaf. The palate cleanser was a lemon tonic sorbet. There was complimentary lemon macaroons after dessert, and on the way out we snagged two complimentary cookies from Ellie's. Needless to say, we left extremely satisfied and dined at a first-rate restaurant for just 30 dollars a person. Restaurant week is the best deal ever, but I would certainly return here even if it wasn't restaurant week. Note: This was our second time at Gracies. One day, we came in to sit at the bar for some cocktails and we met the loveliest couple who ended up giving us two free tickets to A Christmas Carol at the Trinity theater! This is just a place where magic happens! We have now made it a tradition to go to Gracies and see a Christmas Carol every year. =) read more

Gracie's was, in a word, incredible. I must say I'm embarrassed it has taken living in Providence 6+ years to try this amazing establishment, but I am so glad I did! We this past restaurant week and it was the Perfect time to go, and easily the best deal in the city. First, a few logistics items before the meal: -Reservations: these are a Must, especially for Restaurant Weeks. We booked a week in advance and our options were 5pm or 8pm for two. -Parking: During the week is street parking, valet is only on the weekend. -Dress: varies significantly by diner, although most prevalent was collared shirts for men and dresses for women. There is a coat check if needed. -Ambience: quiet, dimmed lighting (we saw more than one person need to use a cellphone flashlight to read the menu) and semiformal, but plenty of tables with 5-8 people seated. -Seating: Tables and also a first come, first serve bar that serves meals. Now for the Service and Meal: -The wait staff is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, and provides excellent recommendations for pairings, but are not overbearing at all. -We chose to do the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu (35) and wine pairing (30). Table service is cleared and reset with each course, with sorbet to cleanse the palette, a chef's choice tasting is offered before the appetizer and a macaroon from their bakery (Ellie's) after the dessert course. -I chose the Russet Potato Gnocchi, Roasted Atlantic Swordfish and the Crème Brûlée. The flavors were a work of art and everything prepared to perfection, and the portion sizes were perfect. -Finally, I cannot recommend the wine pairings highly enough. They truly elevate your dining experience to the next level from what is already superb. It's a crime against food to not try Gracie's and see how amazing it is for yourself! read more

9 months later Gracie's continues to be one of my favorite places to eat; it's the best New American food I've ever eaten. Last night our foursome got a table with only a twenty-minute wait (as opposed to Al Forno's 45-60 min. wait) at 7:30. Three of us got the three-course prix fixe, and every plate left us wiped completely clean. I had a delicious glass of port, to boot. The green salad, which has been on the menu since Gracie's opened, is perfectly balanced and dressed....a very nice start to a meal. I had the duck breast, which came with mashed potatoes and parsnips and cranberries, and felt like the best things about Christmas and Thanksgiving on a plate. I highly recommend the sweet potato tart and carrot cake desserts; the first is totally innovative, and the second showcases great execution of a classic. I love the touches the kitchen offers between courses: amuse bouches, sorbets as palate cleansers, and macarons to end the meal. As the service is impeccable. Upon exiting, I was also glad to learn the valet in complimentary. Basically, I don't have enough superlatives in my reportoire to describe how good the dining experience at Gracie's is. read more

Went to Gracie's on a Wednesday night for my mom's birthday. I made a reservation through Yelp, and we had an amazing dinner experience. First off, the service- awesome! Our waitress always came to check on us, the guy at the valet parking left cookies as we left, and the chef gave us at least 3 complimentary treats such as macaroons and sorbet. The atmosphere-fancy restaurant, dim lighting. Food- Can't go wrong with the salads, the sea bass that my mom had was delicious, my duck was cooked just right, and my brother's rib eye steak was amazing. Also, the dessert- I don't remember eating such great creme brulee! I can't wait to go back on my next visit to Providence! read more

In the interested of full disclosure I feel I should mention that I do have a friend that works in the kitchen of Gracie's, but let's face it, it's Providence, doesn't everyone know everyone? With that being said, WOW. Really, WOW. I have been fortunate enough to eat at some really fabulous restaurants both here and in Europe and one thing I seem to find, at least in Boston & Providence, is that fine dining is so flipping pretentious. I hate being made to feel like an idiot for not understanding either terms on the menu and when you do dare to ask the server how an item is prepared they give you dissertation on Gastro-Chic cuisine. Food is supposed to be an education but don't patronize me. The servers are knowledgeable and yet totally approachable. Their menu changes so often that you get the sense that they are continually challenging themselves. Also this is one of the few restaurants where you have to somehow; some way leave room for desert...really leave room for desert. Great restaurant, save up your pennies though, as this caliber of dining doesn't come cheap, and treat yourself to an oral exploration that you won't soon forget. read more
