I didn't get to have a proper meal since I was going to a bbq so I had some libations and a fruit snack. I got a pineapple mimosa, iced oat latte and an order of the fruit bowl. It was just the right amount to pregame. I loved the vibes inside. The service was great. I did wish they were open a little later. There was no way I was waking up earlier to try to make it in for breakfast service. It was great to have the option instead of having to leave the hotel. Hotel guests get 15% off their bill. My wife and I attended the Glamorama drag brunch, and had a pretty fun time. The food was excellent, particularly the avocado toast; service was competent, although they seemed to be scrambling to keep up most of the time (not surprising, since it was a packed house), and there were a couple minor flubs; we received the house salads with champagne vinaigrette (which were awesome!) instead of our avocado toast at first...but then ALSO received our proper order shortly thereafter, so that is a mistake in our favor - no harm, no foul. The menu is a fixed, three-course deal: appetizer, entrée and dessert, for $100 ($200 for VIP meet-and-greet with the queens after the meal, if you feel so inclined), and runs (ostensibly) from 10:00am to noon, although our particular event started and ended late. Good thing, because we were a little late ourselves! Between the two of us, we also ordered the fried rice (excellent!) and the benedict (also excellent!), and were both stuffed before the third, and final, dessert course arrived. Multiple boxes were needed to take home the leftovers to our toddler son, who devoured everything we brought to him! Bring a wad of $1s, because you're going to need them! There will be multiple queens doing their thang, multiple times, over the whole two-hour affair, so come prepared! Have gone here for tea at least 5 times. In my opinion it is overpriced. The food and tea are good, but not great. They do not have a kids's menu and charge the same amount for kids as adults. The last time we went there we had a pretty disappointing experience. My nieces were going to use the women's bathroom together and at the last minute I decided to join them. When we got to the bathroom there was a homeless man doing drugs in the handicap stall of the bathroom. When I told the person at the front desk she seemed annoyed and just waved us off that security would handle it. I didn't feel comfortable going back into the bathroom since he was shouting at that time. We were told we would just have to wait to use the bathroom which ended up being over an hour later. Came here for the ~Glamorama~ brunch. Food was delicious and the performers were amazing. Seriously so fun with the DJ keeping the party going. Staff was great too keeping our drinks full and really hustling bringing the food out. There were three courses and all the food was super good. You cannot beat a Gracie's tea service! While I love a lot of the local teas in Portland, this one is always hands down my favorite. The tea itself is pretty similar if not the same to what you can find elsewhere, but the food is delicious. If you're not a fan of fish (as teas often have a lot of salmon/roe), this is a great option. My only downside for this tea is they have it timed and do tend to rush you out. If you're one of the last seated, you'll get your stuff later and then they get a bit impatient if you're not done. Which, doesn't make a ton of sense. It's been like this every time I've gone, so I really think they need to add 15-20 minutes to their expected turnaround for better customer experience. read more

The staff is attentive and super helpful - we had a last minute request and were not only accommodated but the staff was so delightful. Potatoes Anna was tasty and a fun textural experience, and the overall atmosphere is glamorous without being stuffy. Service! Had a reservation at 11:45 got seated, took 20 minutes to take our drink order (party of 4) got drinks 15 minutes later, restaurant was NOT busy by the way. Server NEVER came back to take our food order or check on us. After 45 minutes I finally signaled to the busboy to ask the waitress for our check for the drinks. Gracie's is one of the best places for breakfast in NW Portland. Tucked inside the Hotel Deluxe, this is easily a go to breakfast. They make their English muffins in house from scratch so I encourage you to try a Benedict for the full experience. My favorite is the lobster Benedict but the breakfast fried rice is a fast follow. The portions are large but if you have some extra room their blueberry crumb muffin is also made in house and is a welcomed add on to any meal. Wonderful experience. I was in town for a conference and took an extra day to wander the city. Michele was my server and suggested the homemade english muffin-- so delicious. On the way out I asked the front desk clerk for the name of the hotel that used to occupy this space. "The Mallory". I stayed at the Mallory in the 90's; It was a historic and elegant. Gracie's keeps this spirit alive. One star off for the gruff teenage hostess who led me to a rather undesirable table to start. With the dining room 2/3 empty this seemed quite unnecessary. That said, this is a common indignity experienced by solo diners - especially, women. I pointed to a small table by the window to which she brusquely replied, "that table is for two people". She, instead, then led me to one of the half moon tables which was inadvertently perfect. I came here for brunch and had the most amazing time. Located in a hotel, the restaurant can be a bit hidden, but it is truly a gem. The inside of the restaurant seems to have kept much of its history intact, leaving it very elegant, clean, and spacious. There was plenty of seating and the tables itself were so big and spacious, I could have bought 7-8 entrees before I filled it up! My partner and I ordered the bacon and egg fried rice, the fresh berry crepes, and the kale ceasar salad with grilled prawns and everything was phenomenal--I haven't had a brunch this good in a while. The fried rice was SOSO savory and I wish I knew what they put in it, because I've never had that blend of flavors before. The salad was so very good--the dressing was amazing and with the prawns, it was the perfect brunch salad. And, the crepes were light, not-too-sweet, and the perfect portion. Gracie's held a special brunch today. Ambiance was clean and open and full of grandeur with gold moldings and chandeliers. I had a green fennel salad with delicious champagne vinaigrette, tasty eggs Benedict , and banana foster's French toast. I would say first two courses were very good and the dessert was good but not amazing. The only but important negative part of my experience was our server gave us too much time to put in our order, then forgot to serve our main entree on time. We waited til we saw other tables receiving their dessert to say something. Promptly the server apologized for the mistake and gave us complimentary drinks as we waited for kitchen to prep our meal. Took awhile to get our food but when we finally did the experience completely flipped... despite the server having his struggles the kitchen was definitely on point. My egg was poached perfectly, I was very happy with the mass majority of my food.... The flavors the textures and everything on the in between was really good if I had anything to complain about it other than the fact that they charge me five dollars for tea that we received for free all over the hotel...would be the toast. They ask you to wait to be seated and the service after you are seated is pretty quick. This is the best English muffin I've ever had. I had to come back the next day for another one. The ambiance is quiet since they are open in the mornings and close for the evening. the views are very regal and old Hollywood-esque. I only knocked off a star because when I went back, one of my servers wasn't the nicest. I ordered my breakfast with the preface that I could possibly order more after. She brought me my check at the same time as when I received my food. I didn't even notice since I was focused on my food. When I asked her for the check, she very flatly answered that she gave it to me already. So I pulled my card out and she said she could check be out. But she looked like she was going to lunch or break and I didn't want to interrupt. I just wish I had communication that she was going to break and who would've been assisting me while she was gone. Easter "brunch" was a disappointment. There wasn't one item that would be a typical breakfast food other than fruit. For instance, there were no eggs benedict or bacon/sausage....only deviled eggs. For a morning reservation, we had to choose from chicken, salmon, prime rib or lasagna. Seemed odd to be ordering this in the morning. The buffet was just ok. It was okay. The restaurant was booji in decor but the few people there were dressed in vacation clothes. We dressed up a bit based on the website. The effort was pointless. Grapefruit juice was freshly squeezed, yeah. Waitress was virtually absent and when we did see her she was leaning just inside the kitchen door playing on her phone. She was courteous when she was with us I had the avocado toast and it was fantastic with bright green avocado on a thick slice of rustic bread. Options are slim on Christmas Eve so we decided to take a chance. The hotel and restaurant is beautiful. And that's where the good part ends... $80 buffet with cold food, dry food, unpalatable food. The Mac and cheese was in individual serving ramekins that were sitting out on a table in the buffet line, cold and hard. Our waitress offered to microwave them up for us. There was a couple of charcuterie options, but no cheese. The vegetarian Brussels sprouts was sharing a serving spoon with the bacon topped pickled cabbage. The gnocchi was dry and chewy and not very warm. The dinner rolls, also dry, dense, cold. The bread pudding was also dry, chewy and lacked flavor. Like, for $80 I at least want to leave full and satisfied. It doesn't have to be ultra gourmet, but at least tasty. The problem is, it came out 20 minutes before anyone else's brunch, leaving us in an awkward mismatch of whether to eat while hot & then watch others eat with an empty plate later etc. The waitress (by which I mean there appeared to be only ONE on a Sunday for brunch) tried to explain that the pancake fired faster than the rest of the meals - duh, of course it did. A professional kitchen can manage timing. Sadly, Gracie's cannot. The lobster Benedict was meh. Two tiny pieces of lobster to justify a huge price increase and the mildest, least interesting hollandaise I think I've ever had. First visit to the Hotel Deluxe in Portland, Oregon, which gave us the chance to eat at Gracie's. This is the on-premises restaurant for the hotel, serving Breakfast/Brunch until 2 pm, with no dinner service. We had a party of 3 for a late morning breakfast and were seated right away. Service was prompt at the start but diminished from there with slow and disjointed service. As in many restaurants currently, it lacks from full and experience staff. Food was served hot, and all dishes were very well prepared and tasty, though 2 of 3 were delivered far in advance of the one. Kudos to the staff for recognizing the delay and bringing a complimentary muffin to the person waiting. For food, the Avocado Toast was a smaller portion, with only 1 slice of bread for the sliced avocado and egg. Ordered both a Traditional and a Lobster Benedict, which the Lobster Benedict was far above better than the Traditional. Both benedicts had perfectly poached eggs, and uniquely a house made "English" muffin, more like a Johnny Cake, which was delicious. Overall, Gracie's is a convenient place to grab a morning/afternoon meal in the hotel and would return to try something else. Update: Visited Gracie's the following morning, and service was worst with continued forgotten item, and the same disjointed service. The food was still delicious and had nice portions, with again the Lobster Benedict, Club Sandwich, and Waffle with a side of sausage links. My friend and I came here for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (our reservation was at noon so we could gorge ourselves and sleep it off the rest of the afternoon in front of the TV) and I think we picked the perfect place. To begin, it's in a stunningly elegant hotel; the tables, linens and centerpieces were gorgeous. The food was impeccable and while it was a pre-set menu for the holiday, there were still choices on appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. I was staying at the Portland Deluxe Hotel. Gracie's is located inside of the hotel and they serve breakfast/brunch. The server recommended the lobster Benedict. He said that it usually sells out on the weekends! It was a weekday when I went so there was no risk of missing out on the dish. After having it, indefinitely understood why it sells out! The lobster was so sweet and literally melted in my mouth. The English muffin is made in house and it was so soft and fluffy! The poached eggs were absolute perfection. I ordered the potato anna as a side to my lobster Benedict. It was delicious layers of potato that were crispy on the outside and flavorful buttery on the inside. Hotel Deluxe and Gracie's are 50's themed, so the decor, music, and ambiance definitely put you in that era. If you're looking for a nice posh brunch or dinner spot, Gracie's is the place to go!
