You'll thank me later because we had 5:00pm reservations and arrived to a line standing out the door that was at least 20-30ppl deep at 4:45pm. No worries though as our reservation allowed us to avoid the line and come right in. Once settled in we were greeted by 3 staff members, all with different roles. One to check in for food/drinks, one delivering drinks and one bringing food to the table. All very knowledgable about what they were presenting. The happy hour (5-6pm) is amazing here for the value. $1/each oysters specifically. And these are amazing oysters, probably best I've ever had. The balance of the menu is a mixture of small plates. We had the squash, halibut and lobster roll dishes and they were all professionally plated and crafted with a unique spin on traditional dishes. Had an outstanding dinner here last night. I've been wanting to visit for a long time and I'm so glad I did! Everything I had was epic, from the drink to the desert. Every dish had a perfect combination of flavors and textures. I especially appreciate their selection of mocktails. I had the GPS Said This Is Right and it was full of flavor, subtle bitterness, and texture with a great presentation. A great example of a mocktail that works. It was a joy to drink and was a great start to a great evening. The Andrew's focaccia bread was buttery, salty and heavenly. The oil that came with it was an adventure in itself. Next, I had the Hamachi Crudo. This was one of the most delightful appetizers I have ever had. It was full of a dazzling array of flavors. Simple. Elegant. A feast for the senses. And a joy to eat! I would never think to assemble these ingredients in one dish, but the combination worked splendidly. The quality and freshness of the fish was outstanding. For the entrée I had the Halibut. It was perfectly done and wonderfully presented and also full of a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. There was no way I was going to leave without checking the dessert menu and I hit the jackpot on that also. I had the Panna Cotta. It was light and fresh, bursting with summer flavor, and textured as well. It was the perfect dessert to round out a wonderful evening. My feeble words do not do justice to how outstanding each one of these dishes were! The menu was so full of appealing dishes that it was difficult to choose just one. I also heard great things about the Rockfish. I guess that means I will just have to come back! The space is very cozy and appealing, wrapped in windows. There's also plenty of outside seating. And the service from the bar was terrific. Reservations are recommended since this place is so popular. But they also have strong support for walk-ins. I stopped by on a whim this night before they opened, saw the line, and figured I'd try it and see what happens. After about a half hour wait I got in! The oysters were fresh, and we absolutely LOVED their selection of sauces for the oysters. The hamachi crudo was absolutely delicious and th mixture of flavors was heavenly. I could order this dish again and again and in fact will be coming back for this dish in the future. The lobster bun was less of a highlight but still extremely enjoyable. Went to Jacqueline for their happy hour $1 oyster deal (12 oysters per round) and it did not disappoint. The oysters came out quickly and were fresh and delicious. All the vinaigrette options were great, but the ponzu was definitely my favorite. We came for the oysters but also ordered the yellowtail crudo and the sweet potatoes, and both dishes were incredible. The only downside was the sparkling water situation. We were told they didn't have large bottles and only offered it by the glass, only to later find out it wasn't actually sparkling water but soda water, which isn't the same and not what we ordered. Jacqueline has an amazing happy hour! We came in to grab oysters and they were so fresh and delicious. With an array of different hot sauce, mignonette, ponzu, and vinegars made this such a fun experience to mix the sauces to get our perfect oyster bite. First time back since they moved locations and I was SO excited to come back to my favorite oyster happy hour. Their vinaigrettes that come with the oysters are all excellent. First up, an incredible seafood tower. -summer blues oysters from Hama Hama Oyster Co -smoked Totten inlet mussels w/tom khaki , nam Jim & crispy garlic -yellowfin tuna, ruby red grapefruit, mojo de ajo, pickled serrano, siso -hamachi crudo, charred pickled pineapple, peanuts, mam nem, lime leaf, mint shrimp cocktail w/ Calabrian Chile cocktail sauce. Next: Maine lobster, lobster bun grilled Belgian endive w/smoked oyster Caesar, boquerones & breadcrumbs Then we had opted for an additional course of champagne & caviar. Why not? It was NYE decadence. Back to the Prix Fixe. Salt Cod cappelletti w/uni butter, bottarga & chervil grilled chinook salmon w/caviar & saffron beurre blanc, celery root cream & black truffles Finally, sponge cake w/ zabaglione, amaretti, chocolate, caramel cara & Campari sorbet. I love a tasting experience and i've been eating my way through all of the tasting menus in Portland. Jacqueline was no exception and was a great way to bring me out to this part of town. For under $100 a person (whole table must participate) we had a great way to celebrate a birthday! Their tasting menu has plenty of seafood options and the pacing of the course was done well. My partner and I ordered two dozen of the happy hour oysters--I can't remember the variety, but they're from WA and they were bright and briny. We also ordered the focaccia, endive caesar, hamachi crudo, and the sea bass. Everything was incredible! It was a good amount of food. For everything including a glass of wine, cider, and beer, the bill was $153. A 20% gratuity is automatically included. A fair price for an excellent meal out. Ok, we were a large group and ended up with an extra person. We also arrived 15 minutes late due to logistics with getting a car from our hotel. I would expect to at least witness some annoyance carefully hidden... but no! We were welcomed, made comfortable, our dietary restrictions were handled to the best of their abilities (maybe not the best choice for vegetarians due to menu/restaurant size, and speciality being seafood; but the vegetarian items were as outstanding as everything else and as a Pescatarian I was in heaven; I would check with them in advance if going as a full veggie as I'm sure you would get a thoughtful explanation of their capabilities on a given day; the menu is clearly seasonal and changing). I ordered the Hamachi crudo and our waiter astutely recommended we would need 2. The five of us who eat fish engulfed them and would have enjoyed more. They had an excellent wine list which we put to good use and we brought a bottle of our own as well (we all work in the industry). We had an amazing evening, the staff were attentive and not easily flustered and the food was incredible (every dish was savored and finished, and we added more as we went). But after experiencing it, it still feels like the Jacqueline I know and love. My wife and I have been to Jacqueline many times now, and it never disappoints. Jacqueline continues to push the envelope with ingredients, flavors, and textures. Somehow each dish comes together magnificently. During our latest trip to Jacqueline, we had all new dishes. We went with the Hamachi Crudo, Mandy's focaccia, Grilled Peaches and Pork Cheeks, Grilled Lamb Merguez, Sausage Skewer, Smoked and Marinated Mussels on Toast, and Lobster Mushroom Tagliatelle. The food, atmosphere, and service here are always the best. I love that you can come here dressed casually on a summer evening or dressed up on date in the winter. If you've dined here for as long as some of us have, you'll know what the differences are. IYKYK Place is popular with the HH $1 oysters for sure! This option has remained the same. As for the menu, it's also creative. I debated about writing this, but saw there were also others on here that seemed to, as if recently, experienced the same sentiments. I'll keep it short. Yes, as with the times, everything has gone way up in prices, BUT the portion sizes are now, diminished to what you'd call, very very small bites. Even after ordering more than half the menu, for just two people, we still need to go out to find a second place for dinner. Last few visits, we even did, including the (bye to 2024-welcoming 2025) NYE' pre-fixed dinners for three people. The service was very pretentious, and not warm or welcoming from beginning to end. Seemed the staff wasn't happy, to celebrate and ring in the New Year, as this night was heavily priced ticketed event. They seemed like they don't care once the tickets were purchased. The promises of a night to remember was a joke. Similar to some other long timers that's been coming here, you definitely feel the tug at your pocket book, BUT the hospitality did not justify. The food and experience at Jacqueline are both so special. My friend and I did the "let us cook for you" tasting menu experience where we received 10 courses served family style. The courses started off light and I was worried that I would still be hungry but by the end I was stuffed! The menu is seafood-forward so being from Los Angeles I thought that $90/pp was a great value for what we got. The menu changes based on what is fresh so I won't detail what we received but I did have two favorite items. The squid ink udon noodles with shrimp, squid, crab, spinach and chili crisp butter was packed with umami and you can't go wrong with a good udon noodle! The polenta fritters with 24 month aged serrano ham and green garlic aoli was also a wonderful combination of flavors and a great contrast to all of the seafood courses. They ended the meal with a panna cotta with a candle in it for my birthday, a super nice touch. All of the staff were warm and professional and we loved our meal here. This place is definitely on the pricy side so expectations are higher when you pay higher prices. We spent $200 on dinner for two but this did include 2 cocktails each (birthday splurge). We ordered the smoked scallops which come with 'corn pudding, blistered tomatoes, squash, pardons, tomatillo sambal'. Dish came with 3 scallops, green zucchini and like a spoonful of the cord pudding underneath. Basically $40 for a tapa sized dish. 2nd 'entree' was seared kanpachi with miso sesame, bok choy, turnips, green beans, dashi and ginger. I really can't say anything was memorable about this dish except that it was a little too sweet for my taste and we waited nearly 1.5 hours for it. The appetizers were better than the entrees. We ordered the salad of smashed cucumbers, melons, black tahini, feta and pistachio dukkah. Overall a very tasty dish. We also got the ahi tuna tartare with chili crisp, yuzu aioli, beech mushrooms, sea beans and crispy wontons. This was definitely my favorite dish and would order again. Overall the dining experience took 2 or so hours as the food took a very long time to come out. A good restaurant but like I said a bit pricey for what you get. read more

I came here for dinner one evening as a walk-in and I was fortunately able to get a seat at the bar. The inside was dimly lit and felt like the inside of a home--it was very cute. Staff was kind. I ordered a number of their dishes, such as the scallop, potatoes, and calamari, but I also had to give their oysters a try as I heard that they were pretty famous for them. I loved the experience with the oysters. We were given three different kinds and a variety of sauces of mix-and-match to accompany our little dining experience. It was just an overall fun experience to try out the different sauces and the oysters were also delicious. The rest of the dishes were also amazing, but one thing to note is that their portion sizes are a bit on the small side and everything is family style. I highly recommend their fresh seafood as well as their calamari. I believe they do those SO well. I would love to come back here. read more
