I was so excited to try Moon Pocha and it definitely delivered! I went for my birthday dinner recently and had an absolute blast. The waitstaff were super kind and peppy. Nice ambiance as well! Very dark lighting when you first come in but you'll get used to it. The food was absolutely fantastic, super hot, and definitely something I'm looking forward to eating again soon.

Moon Pocha seems like Portland's best place for reasonably priced, elevated delicious bar food. The menu is extensive (both drinks and food) and the food comes out quick. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Things seem to get busy quick so plan accordingly! (They take reservations but we walked in for 2 a Friday 6pm)

Moon Pocha is seriously a hidden gem in Portland. Super easy to miss if you're just driving by, but definitely worth finding. The food was honestly really good and the atmosphere was amazing. It feels more like a cozy date night spot for couples rather than a big group hangout. I went with a group of 6 and we ended up waiting about an hour to get seated. Even with the wait, the food and vibe made it worth it. Definitely recommend checking it out if you want good Korean food and a nice atmosphere.

The restaurant is nice and the food is good. The customer service is excellent and they even pour the drink for you. The restaurant is good for a group less than six people because they are pretty small. I think this is the best for date night. The food is pretty flavorful, though the portion is a little bit smaller size I like fried chicken the most because they have a lot of different flavors that you can use. The pork belly bow is also pretty good even though it is a little bit spicy highly recommend for small party.

We came here for Valentine's Day, no reservations but we were 3rd in line so sat down quickly. The place filled up quickly but service was prompt and our server was very attentive. The ambiance was good, definitely elevated casual. Food ordered: Tteokbokki - 9/10, perfectly chewy rice cakes, sauce was spicy and good consistency, and I'm not usually a fan of the fish cakes but these were delicious! Korean fried chicken - 8.5/10, ordered the soy garlic flavor. Good crunch on the outside and the sauce was flavorful. Beef Bulgogi - 6/10, this was probably my least favorite dish, the beef was a little tough and the flavor was too mild for my taste. Would pass on it next time. Kimchi: 7/10, was yummy and a huge serving! Just hate that I have to buy my banchan à la cart but that seems to be the trend. Our drinks were also really delicious! Don't remember the names. Overall I enjoyed my meal and the experience, so I will be back!

Disclaimer: Maybe this was just an off day. I came here with a friend and pretty high expectations. Food: Beef Bulgogi Bowl (1/5) I love bulgogi, so this was disappointing. The broth had almost no flavor, and the beef was really tough, like it had been overcooked. I also tried some of the kimchi my friend ordered. It was much too spicy for my taste, though someone who likes very spicy food might enjoy it. Service: Fair. They ended up comping a dish that my friend didn't like, which we appreciated. Ambiance: Busy, but still easy to have a conversation. Works well for both pairs and small groups. Overall, I'm giving this 2 stars mainly because of the service. Without that, it probably would have been a 1-star experience for me.

Came in for a nice Friday night dinner. Be warned, the music was loud! It felt like a tourist destination on spring break, even though it was the middle of winter. Not really my vibe. The terrible pop music was blaring loud, other than that the environment was nice. We had to wait a bit for a table for two so we just went to Holman's down the street for a pre-dinner drink. After about a 30' wait we ended up ordering the radish kimchi, jap-chae, and the 'lil' fire chicken along with a bottle of soju and beer to share. I liked the concept of the soju/beer Korean sharing culture as something new to try. As for the food - we loved the jap-chae! It was the best thing we ate. The radish kimchi was good, but beware if you can't handle much spice. It was a good appetizer but not for those with who are cautious of spicy foods. The chicken with corn was 'meh'. It was just a little bland. I think maybe the corn cheese just kinda took over the show, which to me was not particularly flavorful. Overall, an ok experience and at least a place to share a soju/beer with a friend.

I made Review #1100 for Moon Pocha PDX. I really have to stop stalking @ The Korean Momma's Instagram post hehe. I loved Korean Momma's Moon Pocha's reel and as usual I had to bookmark to check it out. We were on our way back from Seattle and so glad Moon Pocha had a late closing time. We found street parking around the block and walked in the freezing cold PDX weather. Moon Pocha is Portland's newest Korean pub-style restaurant located on NE 28th Avenue, they serve up authentic Korean style street food which includes Tteokbokki, Korean fried chicken, along with grilled pork belly/Bossam. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, which was about 11 pm, got a table right away and from seeing a few other Moon Pocha reels I had an idea of what I wanted to try, I went with my faves. Moon Pocha has a very hip, fun & inviting atmosphere. Our waitress ( forgot her name, moved from SF) was super cool, it was nice chatting with her, after we got our orders in and before we left. Our orders were Army stew, Jap-Chae and Creamy basil chicken. I think rice was unlimited servings but I am not sure if it is unlimited. We had our share of rice servings because it was so hard not to have rice with all this food, hehe. The only junk part is here at Moon Pocha, they don't provide ban chan, which I do miss this at a Korean spot! The food was good, enjoyed by us, but I do regret not ordering what the Korean Momma had. The creamy basil was interesting but good, first time I tried this style, the Jap Chae was on the sweeter side, which is fine since I miss eating this dish and the Army stew was yummy even though it was a simple dish to make! Moon Pocha closed only on Mondays and open from 4:30 pm-12 am on the rest of days. Great spot/vibe for late night dining, thank you for opening later, happy belly & Yes. I would visit again!

Service was fantastic--friendly and accommodating (we noticed cheese corn wasn't on the menu, but the waiter informed us they could still do it upon request). We were given little bags of Korean candy on our way out the door which was the cherry on top to already top notch service. Food was PHENOMENAL. This was a last minute pick because we came super close to the holidays without a reservation, so everywhere on this street was packed. We got the last large party table as walk ins. Garden croquette: ORDER THIS. Order for the insane basil sauce that it comes with and dip your crispy tofu in it too. Crispy tofu: Yum! Lots of arugula. I think the vegetarians would throughly enjoy this dish. Get the garden croquette too and mix the sauces. Beef bulgogi: There's some broth in the pan that is very light and flavorful. Yummmmm. Fried chicken: We got half and half sauces. Definitely recommend. Kimchi: Made in house and fresh everyday. A must. Cheese corn: Available upon request. Fantastic. It's evident we loved everything we ate here. The ambience was really lively but not too loud, and it was the perfect meal to share with a big group. We'll definitely be back!!

Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Came here for late night bites. The food honestly looked better than it tasted, but the overall experience was still enjoyable. We came as a group of 3 with no wait, though the inside looked pretty full. The space has a dimly lit, cozy vibe great for hanging out and yap with your friends The service really stood out. The staff were friendly and gave us some recommendations since it was our first time dining in and checked in on us often. We ordered a little bit of everything to try: Spicy rice cake - it was not spicy at all but it was chewy and pretty good. Fried chicken we got half gochujang, half galbi soy - staff recs , it was very crunchy, which I liked but the flavors leaned quite sweet and weren't really my preference. Japchae- a solid dish and easy to share. We also got the bulgogi ( I forgot to take pic of) - this one surprised me. It was more like a soupy bulgogi and also on the sweeter side, which I wasn't a fan of. Overall, it's a good spot to hang out late at night, especially if you enjoy small bites with sweeter flavors. I'd still be open to giving this place another chance.

We walked in around open, so it was a smooth experience. Our server and the bartender were both great! The vibe is definitely club like... First impression is Korean bar/street food elevated and damn do they deliver! Brisket ramen was phenomenal! Fried chicken was the stuff of my dreams! The cucumber kimchi with spicy mustard was refreshing. I would eat all of them many times over! We will be back for more. Prices in line with 28th st, not cheap - the normal "ban chan" or side dishes are all individual dishes you pay for - even kimchi

Walked in on a random Friday, lucked out and got seated right away. Inside is nicely decorated and has tons of smaller tables (2-4 person tables) but they only do reservations for bigger groups. The tteokboki was good, just your traditional chewy rice cakes and fish cakes. The spicy pork was decent too but the veggie-to-pork ratio was off with way too many veggies and the seasoning didn't shine through as much. I was a bit disappointed because they didn't offer banchan or anything, and I didn't mind paying for premium banchan if it was worth. Ended up ordering the kimchi. Kimchi was mad salty (very fish sauce forward?) so make sure you order rice to balance out the saltiness. The service was ok but apparently it was someone's birthday so service was a bit slow. The waitress apologized and comped us free kimchi, so it was nice of her. We also had to ask for water. This place is pretty spendy for small portions of decent food and drinks. A bottle of soju was $20 so it was 3x or 4x, and it's usually only $15 at most places.

Ordered the Japchae, Army Stew, and Lil' Fire Chicken. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 - Casual modern vibes Portions are smaller and on the "tapas" side which gives the value a lower rating. For an almost similar price, you could get more full sized portions at other Korean restaurants. Taste and flavor of the dishes are on par with other pochas and Korean restaurants in the Portland area so no complaints. I do like the creativity of the fire chicken by adding corn cheese to the dish. Service was friendly and attentive so no reason to mark off there. I enjoyed my experience and meal here, I'd come back again for the vibes and drinks, but I wouldn't be rushing back here for the food.

Drink options: I really loved how they circle around different local beer on tap. They also have a few bottled beer too. They have a cast amount of liquor too. Surprisingly, they had a new bottle of Hennessy when we finished the first (during our stay). Usually a lot of bars in hotels don't have it, so that was a major plus. Bartenders: We met three while we were there. All of them super kind, friendly, and informative of the surrounding area. They gave us lots of tips on what to see, eat, and drink. They were really down to earth people. Pricing: I thought it to be fairly reasonable for a hotel, however I might just be jaded from Bay Area pricing (yikes). What I loved about this bar is that we were able to just chat with the bartender. I didn't feel like I had to go back to my room with my drink (which is usually the case). We came here for our annual work dinner with our coworkers…read more We ordered "WIDE VARIETY of appetizers" from the "Hot", "Cold" and "ITAMEMONO" sections to try and majority of the main entrees from "land" and "sea". Standout MUST ORDER appetizers for your time here are "garlic wok mussels" and "steak tartare". Mussels are incredibly well seasoned in what I see as an asian fusion type of soy sauce/hosin. Great tasting mussels, no sand and not overpowering sauce. The steak tartare was the standout, they handled the raw ingredients very well and milk bread complimented it very well. As for the entree, I had the 10z grilled Ribeye. It's greatly plated, I love the addition of the sauce, salt and wasabi. It came with pickled greens and salads. But for a high end restaurant, I was a bit dissatisfied and disappointed by the ribeye itself, it was hard to eat since it was abnormally very "CHEWY" which is not normal for a high cut steak. Although the 10z ribeye was the "best value" for your dollar due to its portions compared to other dishes, it being very chewy knocks Janken down as a whole for me. I want to preface I ordered it as medium rare. The highlight of my meal was the matcha tiramisu, wok mussels, and steak tartare. For a high end restaurant, I would say majority of your dollars goes into the aesthetic and nice atmosphere of the place since its accompany with a nice cherry blossom tree and great attentive staff. Food wise... definitely went into the plating and aesthetics, I can recommend ordering from the ITAMEMONO, and hot/cold section. I can't recommend any other dishes though, that'll be up to y'all to try. What stops Janken from getting a 5 stars from me is a defining must order "entree".
