Delicious delicious Mexican food in the heart of Ballard! I was between this place and another in Ballard for dinner and the fact Gracia makes their own tortillas is what sold me. There isn't a *ton* of vegetarian options, but what they do have is great and delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so friendly and made us some truly delicious drinks. They have a very unique and delicious craft cocktail menu. Food-wise we ordered the vegetarian fundido so instead of chorizo, they provided some vegetables in there. GAME CHANGER. I was so full from both that and the guacamole that I wasn't super hungry but I knew I had to try one of their tacos. I got their vegetarian taco - they only have one on the menu so not super great - but it was delicious! It was packed with so many fresh veggies, cotija cheese and then that homemade tortilla which stole the show. They also have some housemade hot sauces and I liked them so much I bought a bottle to bring home. 12/10 would recommend Gracia! read more

We made a reservation for 4 people and were seated right away in a booth toward the back of the restaurant. The vibe of Gracia is very fun and lively. The bar area was packed from the time we sat down to the time we left. They start you with chips and salsa, and we also ordered some guac and queso fundido. The guac was creamy and delicious and a good size for 4 people to share. The queso fundido came with tortillas. It was more thick than what we were expecting, not sure if I would order it again. For dinner, my father-in-law got the carne asada which he said was tender and cooked perfectly! He isn't a fan of Mexican food, so for him to give a thumbs up says a lot! His plate came with potatoes with a habanero aioli which he loved as well. Everyone else ordered a la carte tacos. I tried the pollo asado, campechanos and barbacoa de res tacos. All were great, but the Barbacoa de res (beef brisket) tacos were a standout. The brisket was so juicy and flavorful and my taco was stuffed to the brim! For dessert we ordered a coconut flan and one churro per person. The churros arrived to our table nice and warm and came with a chocolate dipping sauce. Good place for Mexican food in Ballard. Staff is great and there's a nice outdoor tent space in front with heaters for dining outdoors. Drinks were the best part of the evening. The cocktail menu is fab. Loved "La Luna Roja" ( a smoky, negroni-ish drink) and "Dark Days Ahead" (stirred whiskey drink with all kinds of flavors going on). We tried a bunch of starters to share. ~ Escabeche was crisp and spicy. I love pickled everything. ~ Coctel de mariscos verde and the "esquites" asparagus were both very good. Would order those again. ~ Quesadilla was fine- loved the cheese but I'm not a fan of corn tortillas for quesadillas. ~ Cesar style salad had fresh greens. Stumbled upon this place while walking around looking for a spot to eat in Ballard. So happy we did it was delicious! We were sat within 10 mins of putting our name down. The ambiance is upscale trendy and is a nice spot to have a date, connect with friends, or take family. I ordered the tacos - all 3 flavors I chose were so delicious, these might have been the best tacos I have had within a restaurant setting. They were VERY full and also juicy. Friends got the enchiladas and enjoyed their entrees as well! The only item I did not like was the queso. it was not what i was expecting and had a cheesy string consistency and was fairly oily. We came here after walking the Sunday farmer's market. Although it was fairly busy, there wasn't much of a wait! We got seated at the bar where the very friendly bartender took our order and even gave a few suggestions. We had the tostadas de jaiba, tostadas de camarones and the sopes con huevos. The crab tostada was delicious with the crab tasting very sweet and fresh. The shrimp was also good but quite spicy if you're not one to handle spice well. The chicken tostada was great and had a lot of heft to them. Along with the food, they provided two different sauces: a sweet habanero based one and another more traditional vinegar based hot sauce. I really enjoyed the habanero sauce since it had a small kick but was nicely balanced by the sweetness of the pineapple. Overall, whenever I'm in the area, I would definitely give this place a try again and maybe check out what they have for dinner options! read more

Stumbled upon this cute place when I was catching up with my friends in Ballard for dinner. We were accompanied by our four legged friend so we dined in their outside patio. The patio was too cute and cozy with twinkling lights and also was very well heated. (And yes, it's a dog friendly restaurant! Yayy!) My friends and I ordered their spicy, house and guava margaritas. They were spot on. For food, we started off with chips and salsa and for the mains, I ordered burrito bowl with pollo asado and my friend got tacos. Food portions were huge. The bowl was exceptional. Being the big street tacos fan that I am, I was sooo excited to try out Gracia and Mexican food in Seattle. Like most places in Ballard, it's busy, and we had about a 20 minute wait for our table. The menu isn't big, but it has a little bit of everything. There were three of us and we started with the salsa trio. Out of the three, the salsa abuela was my favorite, and I also enjoyed the homemade chips. For my entree, I had campechanos, cabeza, and lengua tacos, all without cilantro. All three were amazing and I absolutely loved how different and unique each was with their flavors. I didn't think any of the sals or tacos were spicy at all, so if you like spice, definitely make sure you ask for hot sauce - Gracia's homemade ones are delicious!! It's so unfortunate that I live on the other side of America, but if I ever make my way back to Seattle, there will be another trip to Gracia! read more

LOVE this spot! It was packed on a weekday night for good reason. The cozy ambiance with the view of the bar is one of the best features. The chips with guacamole and chorizo queso was so delicious. Today it was just me and my husband but have taken family here before and saw a tonne of kids today so it's very family friendly. We always start with the guacamole and chips! Amazing dinner! Went with three friends on a busy Friday night. Luckily, we had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. We sat outside but it wasn't too cold with the many heaters. We had the chips and salsa and sopes to share. It was my first time having sopes and they were piled high with pork. I had the burrito bowl with carnitas. whew was this satisfying. found myself in ballard while running errands and needed a late light lunch. this was absolutely perfect. the smell drew us in among all the other restaurants, and i was happy to see they had outdoor covered seating. we were there at an odd mid afternoon hour on a saturday and happened to snag their last open outdoor option without a wait. nice. the host/waiter was super friendly and fun, but not overcrowding. their outdoor area is nice and doesn't feel right next to traffic like some streateries do. to eat, we ordered the queso fundito with veggies, not chorizo (for my vegetarian date) and it didn't disappoint. super savory and satisfying on the freshest warm tortillas. love the baskets they serve them in. great appetizer. she got a veggie taco (which comes with the same mix that's in the queso) and i had the fish taco. the price per was high, but damn if i didn't get two huge pieces of beautifully fried fish in my taco. it was a mouthful. we shared a mezcal margarita which also hit the spot. their rim is salty and i think tajin. so good, and plenty of lime. would come again! read more

Dinner last night was such a disappointment, the management doesn't take pride in their food, fails to train & educate the servers, plus has no idea how to balance the ratio of customers to cook staff. Our reservation was at 6pm, we were seated right away but the reservation before us was for a party of 10. The place was packed, both inside and out. We were interested in the wine, so few restaurants in Washington state serve Valle de Guadalupe wine. We figured they have such an extensive tequila selection that they must have pride in their wine selections. Unfortunately, the menu does not name the winery or the vintage, just the varietal. The server did not know anything about the wine, but we can't fault her, it's managements fault. So I had her take a photo of the bottle for us. My partner ordered the Nebbiolo, I the Rosé. The pour was 4 ounces and not even in decent stemware. The wine was presented in a wine tumbler. If you are ordering wine that is $16/glass, especially if it is a Rosé, you want decent stemware. I wonder what the winemaker would think they knew how their wine is being introduced to customers in Seattle. The food was adequate, we started with chips and salsa & pickled vegetables. The entrees we ordered were the tamale special and the shrimp tostada. They arrived very quickly from a different server. No rice and beans arrived with our entree. After about 10 minutes the first server showed up and said, the rice and beans will arrive shortly. No apology, no mention of the large party taking resources away from other customers. I told her not to bother, we are finishing our entree. She left but came back to ask if we wanted another glass of wine. I passed, if the glass is $16 dollars, you expect decent stemware. I doubt this server even knew what a proper wine glass would look like. Then the second server showed up and offered us the check at the same time the table next to us. The check was on a device & highlights a 20% tip. For what? Lousy service, lack of a proper entree, not having any idea about their wine, a wine tumbler instead of a proper glass. My partner told me to pay the 20%, he was right for the tip goes to the server, not the management. Bottom line, this is a glorified taqueria with upscale tequila selection. We do not plan to eat here again. read more

This place is an all time favorite of ours in Seattle. The Al pastor tacos are hands down the BEST on the menu. We have very diverse salsa preferences so the chips and salsa sampler is always a win, the verde is cilantro forward and I am here for it but my spouse prefers the roasted one, between the 3 it comes with you can't go wrong. Their tequila and mezcal choices are far reaching and delightful. We have not once had a bad experience here. Their outdoor patio is so cute and great for people watching and the service is always super great.
