Garcia is one of those places For the first time that I can remember the food just touched my tongue, just that, the first touch and immediately my mind recognized "oh, this is going to be good" and wow it was. Such a simple sounding dish the empanada grande and yet it was absolutely perfect. Savory fried goodness drizzled with the perfect amount of sauces But wait sorry I got ahead of myself, we started this glorious meal with Queso fundido with vegetables that was so yummy I'm pretty sure I burnt my tongue desperate to try it and if courser Black garlic sikil p'ak, this is more than a dip it's pepita gloriousness that you just keep going back for more and more if there's one thing you have to try it has to be this it just puts you in the right frame of mind for the rest of the meal Now back to our mains both the hubby and I had the Enchiladas con mole and OMG it was so so sooooo good. It was so rich like nothing I've tasted and we've actively been trying to find a good mole dish. This. This was it absolutely delicious The enchilada suizas would probably be my least favorite, even though it was good it just didn't hold itself to the remaining mains. Don't forget to order yourself some rice to go with everything else. We did end the meal with churros but alas that's where the call was dropped. The churro was a circular one and was too doughy in the middle. Tasty, creative food eaten outdoors is always fun, and even better when having Mexican food and beverages in cool, chill downtown Ballard. We expected good food but were blown away by the huge and diverse selection of mezcals, tequilas, and agave beverages, in addition to the usual basic margaritas. We started with house made Micheladas (Bloody Mary made with beer instead of vodka), a Ballard (spicy) marg, and Stoup IPA - all great on a surprisingly warm day. The chips (hot), salsa and guac were exceptional - too many times we end up with pretty good but maybe room temp chips - glad these were fresh. I started with the pozole rojo, a pork shoulder, corn, and chile soup topped with red cabbage and sliced radish, and pickled onions - I don't get to enjoy too often but was happy to see it here! The campechanos taco was truly special - could definitely taste the smoked pork belly and chorizo in addition to the carne asada and pork. Stopped in for a quick late brunch and we ordered a few tacos in addition to a burrito bowl to share. The burrito bowl is hefty fyi! During brunch, it typically comes with poached eggs as well. Upon asking if we could have them fried instead, staff were so kind and friendly to make the accommodation. Delicious tacos at Gracia in Ballard! At first I was skeptical about a $7.00 taco, but the meats are delicious and the filling is generous. I ordered the Campechanos (meat lover's) & Pescado (fish) tacos served on corn tortillas. They have two types of hot sauce and I went with the Habanero, which was on the sweeter side. Service was great! They provided great recommendations and let us know that there was a large party coming in 30 minutes while we were chatting away. Be warned that it's loud in the restaurant. They also have outdoor patio seating. Parking is challenging in this neighborhood, so be sure to give yourself some time to find a spot. read more

Went on Cinco De Mayo and got a spot at the bar at 7:00 with only a 30 minute wait. Tony, the manager, always has a great tequila recommendation and story from a distillery that he likes. He makes you feel like a regular when it's only your third time in a year going there. That night they had an El Pastor taco special that was Fire!!! I love the chicharrones and could eat two servings of the salsa verde. None of the salsas there are too hot, and tends to be on the sweet side. I love this restaurant: food, people, ambiance 10/10. It's an upscale authentic mexican restaurant, not too far from where I live so it's always my go to when I crave Mexican food. Their drinks were a bit stronger than usual, but the food (except for the ceviche) was cooked to perfection. I think my partner and I prefer the ceviche to have smaller cuts of fish than huge chunks, though I can understand that's always based on preference/taste. Had such a great experience here! I'm shocked that this is my first time since I frequent Ballard restaurants all the time. The service was wonderful, warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly from the moment we walked in. The menu is small but in the best way, no fuss and focused on really solid, well-executed dishes. I can't remember exactly which tacos I ordered (sign of ordering too quickly because everything sounded good), but they were so flavorful and fresh. I was really lucky on my visit to Seattle to get to visit this place. When you come in immediately you can tell this is an independently owned restaurant. The food smells fresh because you can literally taste the preparation in the air. I had to have the tacos my first choice, what's the Carnitas my second choice? I don't really know how to pronounce it. All I know is that it had bacon, House made chorizo, and Tony Rosato and it was the most delicious thing in the world. The sauces are also made in House. Of course you're greeted with a bowl of chips and salsa and the flavor is just perfect. I love the atmosphere here it's in an old part of Seattle. The bar is very nicely proportioned. I have to tell you. I'm definitely coming back here very convenient payment methods, and they even Offer outdoor seating, and a kids menu stop by you won't regret a single second you spend here!! 3 stars (up from 2) because I've actually really enjoyed Gracia in the past and have had good experiences with the good and service, but my visit on Thursday night was really disappointing solely because of our server. The food was still great, but our server made the overall experience stressful. From the start, he just didn't seem interested in checking on us at all... not for drinks, not for food, not even a quick follow up after the food had arrived (in fact we didn't see him again until after we had finished our meals entirely, despite asking for a refill of the salsa which never came). It was restaurant week, and both of us had planned to do the prix fixe menu, but after waiting about 25 minutes just to place an order, we decided it would probably take too long if we went that route. And in fact we felt lucky to even get our order, because as soon as he dropped off our drinks he turned his back to us and we were like, yo can we put in our food order, to which he shrugged and said uh sure, entering the orders as he walked away from us, I felt like I was burdening him by trying to put in an order with my server. The only time he showed any warmth was right at the end when he brought the check, apologized, and said he hoped we enjoyed the meal. By that point it just felt like an attempt to salvage a tip after some of the worst service I've had in a long time. read more

I went here for a Tuesday happy hour, where tacos, a few other food items, and some cocktails are slightly discounted. It's one of the weaker happy hours out there as you only really save a dollar or less for a lot of items, but I guess it can add up. It's also only 3-5pm so it is fairly restrictive. I got the Al pastor, cochinita pibil, and campechanos tacos. That's pretty much what's there. Supposedly $5 for happy hour but $6.50 for regular price which is quite high for what you get. Unlike almost every Mexican restaurant, they don't provide you chips to start. Supposedly $8+ or more to get chips which is a hard pass. The amount of meat is not too generous, but the toppings they add are pretty decent. The tortilla is a little mushy and could hold up better even with the sauces. The cochinita pibil is really spicy as FYI. I liked the campechanos the most based on the flavor profile and the pork belly is not too fatty. I took off an additional star as the prices were confirmed by the waitress to be accurate for happy hour but I still got charged 50 cents higher than advertised so there are a lot of little nickel and diming here that is a bit of a pet peeve. I'd be okay if the prices were low but unfortunately it wasn't. read more

We visited during the Ballard Sunday Market, arriving just before noon, and the place wasn't too busy. They have tacos that are around $6-$7 each, and they're totally worth it. I loved that I could try different flavors. I had the pork belly and beef tongue tacos, and both were incredibly flavorful and tender. The coconut flan was also amazing, and I couldn't get enough of the habanero house sauce. They even sell it if you want to take some home! The service was great, very attentive, and they gave solid recommendations. The outdoor area is dog-friendly, which was a big plus for us. My dog also got a treat and a water bowl. Stopped in here looking for Tacos as the nearby Taco truck that frequents the Ballard Sunday Market ran out. No problem because Gracia delivered some good ones. To start I had - the "pasiflora" a simple passionfruit vodka cocktail that was very good. For Tacos I had cochinita pibil - slow roasted achiote-marinated pork shoulder, xni-pek, citrus-pickled onions, cilantro. (Some of which I don't know what it is but it was so good) barbacoa de res - beef brisket, pasilla de oaxaca salsa and pork belly which are about $6.50 each. A tad high, but they are loaded and flavorful. They had a nice selection of 'house' made sauces to flavor and spice up the tacos if they needed an additional kick. (They can be purchased to take home as well) Ambience is that of a modern family/sport bar TV's but booths and tables. Service was good, waitress went notepad-less for the order, which is always impressive, but she had to come back to confirm. Overall, though, very good, loaded Tacos and drinks but 3+ will take you to about $20. I'd go back though, they tasted great. read more

Great place. The shrimp tostada was amazing. The salsa we were told was spicy but just HAD delicious spices. Guacamole great. Home made chips great . Carnitas good and shredded beef good and the pollo was the best. Tortillas were great Waiter couldn't wait to get off at 9 when they close. Wouldn't seat a table who were coming in at 8:40. He took our hot sauces so he could refill them and finish his side work. Bartender was really nice but as am industry person I actually did not tip my 20% or above. The food and some service is okay, not amazing, but the prices are so incredibly ridiculous. For example, enchilada costs something like $24 and no beans or rice. Nothing. Some service is also weirdly catty, too, and no one looks happy. Been meaning to check out this nearby Mexican spot for a while and finally got around to it for weekend brunch. I was surprised that it was relatively quiet around noon on a Sunday, especially with the farmers market happening on the street. I love brunch so I was pleased to see they had a creative and interesting selection of dishes. We started with some of their specialty cocktails, (Pasiflora) which were delicious albeit on the pricey side. Then for the entree I went with the Huarache con Huevos. It was a large freshly made masa cake loaded with carnitas, salsa, sour cream, and topped with two perfectly poached eggs. I also drizzled it with plenty of the provided hot sauce! My only critique was that it seemed to need a little salt, but otherwise the flavor was great! Service was friendly and quick! look forward to returning here for another meal hopefully soon. We stopped by Gracia around 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and it was poppin' but we got seated right away out on the patio (we had our dog with us). We got started with guacamole, chips, and salsa and of course margaritas and one cocktail. The prickly pear margarita is so good and tasty, not overpowering, and is sweet but not tooooo sweet. Came here on a Friday and had a bit of a wait so we walked down the street for a drink while we waited. As I expected, right as we ordered our drink, they called us to say our table was ready. But they were great about us coming about 30 min later after finishing our drink elsewhere. We had an asparagus dip as an appetizer and over a week later, I'm still thinking about it. It was so good. Flavorful and filling. We also got the chip and salsa sampler. Everything was seriously good. However, it was too much food for me. I should've gotten a a smaller entree or skipped the appetizers. I got the burrito bowl and while I had to take most of it to go it was as good as leftovers the next day as it was at the restaurant. Staff was friendly and attentive.
