    Grey Goose pear martini

I chose to eat at the bar, and I feel like it should be pretty hard to get a 5 at the bar with the pub menu. But Grace does a really nice job. First, Kyle, my bartender. Kind, courteous, and all around pleasant. He really added to the experience. First, the pear martini. So delicious, I had two!! The beet salad, perfectly prepared beets, nice goat cheese, well balanced. Finally, the brisket sandwich. Tender, delicious, really nice bread. Not so delicate (looking at you stupid brioche) that it falls apart with the first bite. At the end of the evening, I was happy and content. What more could you ask for??

Started with a Cuba Libra then had a Berkshire pork belly appetizer so unbelievably good followed by a charred Caesar salad again, unbelievably good main course was 16 oz bone in rib eye prepared rare. The steak was good a bit on the salty side. Two glasses of decoy limited Cabernet Sauvignon, delicious. I highly recommend going to this fine restaurant. When I return, I will patronize them again!!

This is my first review of a restaurant based on breakfast, so I was a little reluctant to give it five stars. It's probably beyond my skill level to differentiate between a 4 star and 5 star fried egg. However, when you consider service and atmosphere, I'm comfortable with my evaluation. I should also mention that the breakfast was sort of free, since it came with our stay at the Carnegie Inn. If you were a paying customer, the price was $24, indicating that the restaurant thinks it's a 5 star place. Anyway, the meals, bacon and eggs and eggs Benedict, were very good. They provided French butter, which is unrefrigerated butter, wrapped like and in the shape of a tootsie roll(see picture). We had to study the label to figure out what to do with it. We would like to try the place for dinner, but it's always booked up.

A little gift of thanks and Anniversary wishes as we were leaving from Grace Restaurant

An exceptionally wonderful and memorable experience at Grace Restaurant at Carnegie. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a special, romantic evening of wining and dining and could not have been happier. Friendly, professional, attentive staff; beautiful decor with lovely lighting including multiple fireplaces to enhance the already lovely ambiance. Expect higher end pricing for exquisite beverages and cuisine. Huge wine selection. We ordered a bottle of Bread and Butter, Cali white at a reasonable price and it was a delicious accompaniment to our meal. (Cauliflower steak was a tad spicy for my liking but that was my only complaint) Kudos to the owners, bartenders, kitchen and pastry chefs! Such beautiful presentations and delicacies made for a lovely evening! Highly recommend from a foodie traveler.

By far the best restaurant in State College! But since you probably already know about the amazing food, today I will focus on the incredible experience. Most restaurants are struggling just to find any staff -- but Grace has maintained a truly wonderful team! Last night's amazing culinary adventure began when we were greeted by Cheryl, a career server who knows the menu, understands complicated food allergies and delivered outstanding service throughout the evening. She provided excellent advice about the menu and guided us to new items that were absolutely delicious! On top of it all, she was friendly and fun too -- a true delight! Chef Paul Kendeff gets a standing ovation for the incredible variety of menu selections -- eclectic enough to be adventuresome without being off-putting. We all tried -- and loved! -- something new yesterday. With a severe food allergy at our table, we were especially pleased with the cold gazpacho he prepared -- and personally delivered to our table. Such a reassuring gesture to put us at ease with allergy concerns -- no issues at all with this amazing meal! If all of this wonderfulness wasn't enough, Events Coordinator Jayme Rhoads followed it up with a generous, personal tour of private dining space options. She was thorough, knowledgeable and 100% accommodating. I have no idea how she brought so much energy to the role so late into the evening -- what a gem! Can't wait to work with her on our next private event. If you haven't experienced Grace, you need to get there. And over-tip the staff -- they truly deserve it!

This place is so underrated and you would never know that there's a restaurant inside the inn. (There's no sign) ‍ if there's no empty parking spaces inside the lot, you can park on the side street. Food and service is fantastic. Thanks Shane! We had the raw oysters, must get the duck app and foie gras. For mains: scallop and white asparagus' a must try! Filet mignon and lamb were solid. Save room for dessert! chocolate mousse was the fav, second runner up was the crème brûlée.

Grace Restaurant has some of the best food in town. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for in high quality options like oysters, caviar, filet mignon, pheasant, tuna and wonderful pasta dishes. This place has great service too, always very friendly and on top it! I will be back!

The atmosphere hits you right away. Dark wood, old school charm, the kind of place that feels like it has stories in the walls. It is cozy, a little dim, and exactly what you would expect from a spot celebrating a century in business. The menu is not huge, but it does not need to be. It leans heavily into comfort food, with plenty of sandwich options, but enough variety that most people will find something they like. Prices are fair, nothing over the top. I started with the soup of the day, a sausage gumbo with rice. It was flavorful and satisfying without being overly spicy or heavy. A nice warm up, especially on a rainy day. For my main, I went with Bobby D's famous beef chili topped with cheddar cheese and green onions, served with cornbread. It came out in a cast iron skillet, which was a nice touch presentation wise. Portion was solid, not massive, but definitely filling. The chili leaned a little sweet, which I personally enjoyed, with just a mild kick of heat and a lot of flavor. The cornbread was excellent and tied everything together. This is not a fancy place, and it is not trying to be. It is a comfort food spot that knows its identity and sticks to it. Great for a casual meal, especially if you are in the mood for something warm and satisfying. I would absolutely come back again. Next time, I might even give those sandwiches a shot since that seems to be their bread and butter.

I had a great lunch with an awesome Rueben and shoe string fries. Home made corned beef on an excellent marbled rye. FYI The fries were a little cold. I also considered biscuits and gravy but they don't serve home fries after 11:00, odd for a breakfast all day place. The banana bread French toast also caught my eye so I grabbed a slice of banana bread to go. Service was fast and friendly Prices are in line with the "new normal", sandwich and a drink was $16.

The ambience was bright and clean. Pricing was reasonable. Our server was new and attentive to our experience. The food was OK. My wife asked for her Florentine eggs Benedict to come out hard and they were soft. She had to send them back to the kitchen for additional cook time. My eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly and the ham was good and the highlight of the dish. The hollandaise sauce however was watery and on the cool side. The hashbrowns were average. The star of breakfast was the corned beef hash, simply top notch. We will return for a second experience.

The theme is fun, but strained. They have Paris-style love locks, American music with French lyrics, little french flags, and wall hangings in French. I even spotted a print that was also used by HiWay Pizza. It does seem a bit forced since they didn't update the seating after taking over from Baby's. As such, those old booths with duct-tape repaired cushions are still there. They really need to strip out the old seating and do an update. All they did was add some blue paint to the existing red and white theme in terms of actual renovation. The rest are just different decorations. And if that wasn't awkward enough, they have number locks on the bathroom doors. This isn't a city with a vagrant problem, it's Happy Valley. Oeuf Bouef et Bacon seems to be just a restaurant owner flip instead of a genuine renovation. Food is somewhat decent, but nothing special. Their waffle is good. It's not much of a French item, so I opted for butter and syrup instead of the jam. They give you one packet of syrup and two packs of butter, which is not enough. But packets? Really? I guess the one thing they inherited from Baby's is the diner mentality? Side of bacon was good, but they only give you two strips. I also tried the lemon glaze crullers, which left me really disappointed. They had that bad fried taste; perhaps their oil was not hot enough and/or hasn't been changed in a while? The cruller batter wasn't even good anyways, since it lacked that light & fluffy consistency. No cruller egg taste either. These might as well just be sold as fried dough. Yuck. I really wanted this place to have better food. I would have wanted to try more on their menu, including coeur de palmier (typoed as couer on the menu), croissants, and their french onion soup. But my first experience will probably be my last. I'd much rather enjoy a breakfast at the Waffle Shop (that's getting more and more expensive), than to eat here again. Ultimately I think the most painful nail in the coffin of this restaurant is its menu. It lacks innovation. I enjoyed my trip to France years ago, especially the small towns and country side since Paris is too much of a tourist trap. And I really miss the food. I'm no expert on the French cuisine, but I did get to try it for a couple weeks. So I was a little perplexed by the odd French menu choices mixed in with regular American items. For example, a typical French breakfast is rather light: croissant or pain au chocolat with tea or a cafe au lait. French toast isn't really "French". As for their lunch options, they don't reflect a typical French lunch. If it was more authentic, we'd see a multi-course meal instead of single entrees. I'm not expecting Michelin star restaurants in State College, but if a joint advertises itself as French, I'd expect it to give us a little taste of traditional French cuisine. But nah, this is some sort of weird fusion without saying it's fusion. If you can find a favorite here, then at least their prices are good. For me, I doubt I'd be bringing anyone else here.

The burger was delicious and the croque mosieuer was also very good. We had our two younger kids split an egg plate and it was so nice that they plated everything separately for us already. I got the the fondue. It's fun bc it comes with a candle but it's really just cheese and bread. It was good but I could would have preferred some meat. Our server was so sweet and did a great job.
