Up to Penn state for the 1st time for New Student Orientation and what a great find! Great parking, cute interior, no wait and quick service. This is on par with New Jersey diner level quickness and food. The omelette, was thin and very tasty, but the hashbrowns and white toast were stars. Both high quality and very tasty. This place is a classic for a reason. I recommend this location especially, the service is really fast and friendly, plus the parking is a good bonus. The food is really fairly priced and delicious. They have an expansive breakfast menu, of course anchored by the waffles. I went with a cheese omelet and loved how high quality the ingredients were. The bacon was really great as well. I also want to specifically mention the coffee, which is leaps and bounds above most diner coffee. Our lovely server topped it off often, and it was worth the very affordable price! 8:30 am June 24. Not my usual great experience here at N Atherton St location. The hostess seated me in the counter area which I was not satisfied with. When I asked if it would be a problem to go to main floor, not busy, she glared at me and barely said "ok." Seated me next to server's area, like a frat party, had to ask for coffee from not my waiter who saw me sitting there with cup turned up and at edge of table was clearing off tables. She said waiter will be there shortly. Again, not busy. About 30 customers in eating area. After 10 min he comes over. Did not apologize for the wait. He also had an attitude which I did not appreciate. Food was good when served but experience not so much. Whenever great places with excellent reputations change for the worse, usually means new owners who don't understand the serving business. You will lose money fast and ruin a 50+ year family tradition unless you make an improvement starting with the employees! read more

The wffle shop has great food. Their omelettes, pancakes, waffles, and home fries are the best. They get your food pretty quick I'd say and it's really not expensive at all. Only con is it's super popular so sometimes there is longer lines and service times. Overall one of the best breakfast around the town read more

Kudos to Johnny Dima...and the talented cooks at the Original Waffle Shop (OWS) for their trifecta of consistency, quality and value in serving up the best breakfast/lunch offerings around. For many decades I might add. We stopped by a few days ago for breakfast and left very satisfied! I decided to get blueberry pancakes from the weekday special menu--a great bargain for three large cakes loaded with fresh blueberries. Probably the best blueberry pancakes I've ever eaten. They had a great flavor and just the right texture to impart a melt in your mouth experience. Our daughter was pleased with her Greek omelette and whole wheat toast. My only suggestion concerns the tomatoes (admittedly used in the platter as sort of a garnish); they were a bit pale in color, and lacking a homegrown flavor. Surely, some locally grown tastier tomatoes are available this time of year. My wife ordered her go to: pecan waffles. The OWS always delivers on waffles. Crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. The OWS is a State College institution and a consensus winner in the best breakfast competition. Our party of 14 got to sit together. Things started off great until two waitresses decided to "split" the table. One waitress took care of one side of the table and the other took my side of the table. Somewhere along the way, one ENTIRE side of the table's food was forgotten. They blamed it on the computer (which I did a lot of when I was a server)...but half of my family had to wait and watch us eat while their food was "rushed." We were patient, we were understanding (TOO understanding). The manager apologized and, again, blamed the computer. But at that point, it needs to made right by more than just an apology. This is a nice breakfast spot, overall, but my experience here is soured. read more

Yesterday my mom and I went here for breakfast. It was very good. We got in right away. There was not a long wait like there's sometimes can be. Our server was great and the food was very quick to come out. I got the silver dollar pancakes with a side of sausage and a small chocolate milk to drink. My mom ordered the S3. We were both very satisfied with our meals. The waffle shop in town is known to be the most iconic breakfast place to go. If you're ever in State College for breakfast, you cannot miss out on the waffle shop. There was a long line outside the Waffle Shop. That's how they do it there. You wait in line until a table is available. Yet, despite how long the line was, we only waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Keep in mind that there's almost always a line at the Waffle Shop. The restaurant serves just breakfast and lunch but has an extensive menu. We both decided to order the blueberry waffle and coffee along with a side of sausage. Is this place worth the line? Yes it is. This is a terrific breakfast place is you are hungry for a big breakfast. The food is great as is the service. I get the same waitress every time and she's the worst: argues with customers, refuses refills, and is nasty in her speech (name starts with T I think). I've been insulted many times for ordering food here by her (says im too small to eat so much food). I always feel targeted by her. Food is good but pricey, and the glasses are always incredibly small. This is especially awful when your waitress fills up everyone's drink but yours at the table. I've never received this horrible of service at any other restaurant before. Seriously, fire this person. read more

ONE OF MY BEST BREAKFAST EXPERIENCES EVER I'm a breakfast junkie. I'll eat breakfast five meals a day if you let me. I also adore making big breakfasts. So when I go out for a morning nosh I want to leave satisfied. OWS is your unassuming breakfast diner. Only they've got tastes and flavors to end all flavors. Pancakes were malty and light and fluffy. Eggs perfectly cooked. Bacon was salty and thick and that perfect blend of bendy but not soggy. But do yourself a favor and order this gem: Blueberry muffin that's sliced and then GRILLED. You heard me. A GRILLED, sliced blueberry muffin. Butter and jam these babies and you don't need no toast. Staffers were beyond friendly and really enjoyed mixing it up with regulars and visitors alike. I wish I lived closer. But if ever I'm back near Penn State, I'll be back. 5/5 stars all around for this location of the Original Waffle Shop. We have never ventured out to try here because of the line and constantly packed parking lot, but today at 6:30am we decided it wouldn't be crowded. We were right, but honestly it picked up around 7:30am and just got busier from there! Our waitress was lovely and everything was fast and came out warm. The price was incredibly reasonable, for everything pictured as well as coffee and apple juice cost around $65 for 3 of us. It was worth it for the portions and we added an additional side to each of our meals just to try everything. Nothing was bad! The bacon is thick cut, so if you have an aversion to that I would skip out on it (it wasn't my personal favorite). We will definitely be back, just for sure before 7am. read more

The Original Waffle Shop in State Collage is the best breakfast place you would want to go to. My family and I very much enjoy their food. I personally love their French fries and sausage. The wait staff are super nice and we have never had a bad wait staff. The ambiance is amazing, and it's very well kept and detailed. It was stuffed and a large portions. Their home fries are the best i've ever had. They're red potatoes and seem to be cooked with onion? So good. My partner got the eggs florentine and he was very impressed as well. Then to share, we got a blueberry waffle because if it's the waffle shop, it's only right.
