I made the mistake of skipping the free breakfast at the local Super8 motel for this. I fear that was a clear step down. The eggs over easy came out scrambled. Neither cook nor waitress seemed to have noticed. With only 2 customers, I can't even say they were under much pressure. None of the food had seen a grain of salt in its making. The sticky bun, for which the place is named, even though it was swimming in syrup, was dry and stale. There's no way it had been made that day. It's clear there's no competition here or this place would not have survived. read more

My wife and I decided to go here on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast. This is a no frills small diner in rural Pennsylvania. First the positives: the staff were friendly and responsive, prices extremely reasonable, and the food was tasty and of good portion - especially the pancakes that my wife had but are not pictured. The not so positives: our order was missing requested items (staff did immediately address), the rye "toast" was under done (more bread than toast), the entire place is in need of TLC, especially the carpet which is so soiled that it should be replaced. The bathroom was clean but rundown. Overall, a mom and pop location that offer good food and that is in need of some TLC. The decor and aesthetic condition has not changed since the pandemic. The current owners are approaching their 2nd anniversary in February 2026. With some refreshing this could be a go to top choice. 12/2025 Ate at the Sticky Bun Cafe for the first time in a couple of years - since they got a new owner. Their soups of the day were Taco soup or Chicken Rice. I ordered Chicken Rice and was surprised that it contained cumin. Not a normal ingredient for Chicken Rice soup. I am wondering if a busy kitchen worker threw cumin in the Chicken Rice rather than the Taco soup. I just ate the crap and didn't say anything as I was with someone else. Either way, IF I go there again and something is that messed up, I will send it back. read more

Service was the worst part of my visit. Half of our meal was not prepared the way we ordered it. Server could of cared less. It wasn't anything special. Everything came out hot and in good time. First things first: the sticky buns are excellent. In fact, I put them in the top five that I've ever had. Large, soft, gooey but not disgustingly sugary...mmm. Get them with nuts. The menu is standard diner/country breakfast grub, but they make it taste good without excess grease. I didn't care for the toast, which was thick and light which made it seem too dry, even stale. Oh ma! I love this place. I really have nothing bad to say about it. Here is what to expect along with a tip or two. Great service. Great ownership. Food is perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. This is diner style food as it is cooked. But it is in a homestyle fashion meaning not as greasy. The atmosphere is small and homey. At 36, I am typically the youngest person at a table. The real treat are the desserts. This place has the best sticky buns and whoopie pies in town. I also recommend the breakfasts but it is fairly hard to screw up a breakfast. I love this restaurant for everything it is and is not. It is a great local small town country restaurant and while many people swear by the Honey Creek Inn, I favor this one for its variety and baked goods. read more

I really like this place, but I like diner/country comfort food. I loved the homemade wheat toast that came with my eggs, homefries and scrapple platter, which was $5.35. And you can get breakfast all day, which I love. The coconut cake was awesome, and you can get homemade whoopie pies and cookies as big as your head. Stopped into the Sticky Bun today for lunch. I really enjoyed this place. It's small, but homey and the waitress was super nice and did a great job. The patty melt was the special for the day so I decided to have that. While it was a lot like any patty melt you get anywhere, I really enjoyed it and I really liked seeing the interaction with the customers and the waitress. It was clear they were regulars and always happy with their food. Although I usually don't get dessert, I couldn't resist at this place. I ended up taking some to go. Yes more than one! Everything looked so good and made in house so I loaded up the fridge. They had cream puffs. I've not seen homemade cream puffs anywhere forever so I had to get two. The were HUGE. I didn't realize else one would have been more than enough. I'll be eating on those for a few days. I also got a piece of sugar cookie cake that was amaze balls . What stands them apart from other country restaurants in the area are their homemade sticky buns, breads, and desserts. If you like homemade bread, their homemade wheat toast is a really good! Best patty melt I've ever had. Went there with family. Staff was very friendly. My husband had a cheese burger. He said it was excellent. Shared cheese fries which were amazing. And great portions uncle in law had chicken fingers and a bacon cheese burger, was very good. Great portions and great prices! We went home very satisfied. They are very accommodating The wait staff is awesome. the cook was a sweetheart. Her name is sandy. She was very nice and by far the best employee there. We see her often, there at this restaurant, and always has a smile on her face. I always tip this cook just because of how nice and such a great cook she is. Would recommend if you go there and see her to talk to her. She will brighten your day. And will do her best to make your order as perfect as you want it ! We ordered the sticky buns thinking this should be good because that is their speciality. They were completely dry and served cold and I think it was drenched in table syrup. This place was awful. We had to wait a good 10 minutes before anyone brought menus or offered coffee because the waiter was too busy gabbing with other patrons or wait staff. When we finally got our food my daughters eggs had a big black hair on them so we sent them back. The old biddy behind the counter asked the waiter why they were going back and when he told her there was a hair on them she said it was probably one of ours! Nice move stupid bitch because we both have blonde hair. The hashbrowns were burnt and so salty I couldn't eat them. Thought I was going to have to tackle the waiter to get a refill on the coffee. We love Sticky Bun Cafe!! We usually get the 2 eggs, home fries, bacon and wheat bread. Almost too much food but I force it down, lol. Prices are very good. Waitresses and other employees always happy. Every time we have been there it has been good. Now when we go to the register, we have chocolate cookies, whoopy pies, raisin filled cookies, bread, and sticky buns to take home with us. We were making it a weekly trip. Meals are cooked in grease but last meal we had was too much so we decided we should not go as often, but I would be there more often but for that.
