Coming to leave a review for this IHOP because our server was just so sweet! We came on a Sunday morning on a PSU game day weekend, and it does get pretty busy on football weekends. They're a bit understaffed right now, but our server was fantastic - seating as many tables as they can, so sweet, and working so hard! The food was good and typical IHOP ambiance but with some fun PSU decor! Good place to stop in state college. read more

Longer than quoted wait time for a table, confusion among staff getting drink and food orders, very long wait for food. Actually had to walk to kitchen to get coffee refill. Food was warm, not hot which indicated it sat in kitchen before being brought out. While manager and wait staff apologized, and all restaurants are having staff shortages, this reduces former rating by at least two stars. read more

Took almost 10 min to be seated at 2pm. A waitress dropped menu and we helped her pick them up. She said nothing. We we finally seated but our waitress took at least 5-10 min to even address us. Keep in mind... there were only three other tables. She took our drink order: juice and coffee. I was told... "our coffee machine is broken!" This is a breakfast place, right? 10 more minutes passed before our incorrect juice was delivered. She clearly had no idea. This IHOP is managed horribly. The family sitting next to us waited an hour and a half because they forgot their food and the manager was completely unhelpful. Our waiter forgot many items of our order and our food came out cold. This is probably the worst IHOP I have ever been to lol. read more

Seeing as this place already posses a 2 star review, we probably should've proceeded with caution. However, we did end up going here and man oh man, it was a rough experience. It took 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we ordered drinks and just didn't get what we ordered. Then we continued to sit and wait with no waiter in sight before just calling it quits. Waited for a hour for service -- although the place was mostly empty -- and had to remind them that (1) the silverware package was missing a knife and both sets of silverware were spotted, (2) they forgot to bring water, (3) they forgot to bring butter, and when they did, it was icy cold, (4) the hash browns were burned, and (5) the cook did not know how to prepare eggs: My "sunny side up" eggs were mangled (no yolk) and their replacement from the kitchen were completely undercooked. If I could give negative stars I would, got seated since almost no one was here, but then didn't get a waiter at our table for about 20 minutes to greet us, the hostess came to get our drinks since we kept waving for someone to come and then never even came back with them... the waitress finally came took our drink orders and food, drinks didn't come for another 20minutes and waited an hour for the food. Drinks all came out super watered down, especially the vanilla cold brew. There's only one older gentleman as the busboy, leaving all the tables dirty. Here is iHop by the number. I am sitting in iHop right now - right next to the kitchen, listening to people scream orders at each other. There are 21 visible tables. 7 of them have people sitting at them. There are 12 people currently waiting to sit down. The wait the hostess is telling people right now is 30 minutes. My husband and I have been in the restaurant for 45 minutes and still have no food. For the first time in my life I am considering walking out of a restaurant after ordering. I believe this is the most poorly run restaurant I've ever been to. read more

Went in at 1 pm, they were super short staffed which I understand I work in the service industry too so I know what that's like, however they didn't bring any water for us after asking 3 different people, the server was going around asking how each table was except ours?? And there was MOLD on my avacado toast. When I told the server all she said was "oh my god" and nobody came back to check on our table or give an apology about the mold at all. Also, it smelled really weird and the bathrooms were disgusting. When we spoke to a manager about it, all they offered was to take off the avacado toast and not comp my entire check. She told us to come back on a night shift for free food as if I would ever want to come back and eat at a place that serves moldy bread. Do not eat here. read more

We waited for over 45 minutes for a table and still weren't seated. The host told us there was a 20 minute wait. He told several other customers the same thing and at least 10 people left. There was only one waitress working. The guy told everyone who walked in that the kitchen was backed up so I'm not sure if there was only one cook for a Sunday morning but they lost a lot of business. A man and his family seated at a table got up and asked if their food would be out soon because they waited an hour and a half to that point. If I based this review solely on food, I'd give a 1 star. However, our waitress, Tina, was able to bring my rating up a star! She was nice, and I can't blame her for how our food came out. HOWEVER, our food was on another level of ratchet. If you look at my photos, you will see how messed up our food came out. 1. Who slices their toast horizontally like that????? 2. They literally slapped a slice of cheese on top of my omelette and it wasn't even fully melted... actually, it was HALF A SLICE. They didn't even bother to put the other half on there. 3. I really wish I could give 0 stars. This place needs to be shut down ASAP. When you read 2.0 stars it really is 2.0 star IHOP. Ive had gas station sushi that's better than this place. They genuinely do not care to follow how to make a simple meal. I bet a 5th grader can follow a recipe better than this entire establishment. I'm surprised they are still open and functioning. If you can confuse pesto sauce with Poblano cream, than maybe cuisine isn't your calling. This was a great experience, it really made me appreciate the art of gas station food. read more

I am a Muslim who was celebrating my religious holiday Eid. When this situation occurred it was the most outlandish and profound thing I have ever experienced in State college. My 2-year-old son walked behind a waitress his head bumped her butt and she said he sexually assaulted her as we were leaving and yelled it in front of other customers. Her fellow employees at IHOP supported her decision to feel sexually assaulted by a two and a half year old. I enjoyed IHOP but no longer can eat there because of the situation and believe it occurred because we were Muslim in our traditional Muslim clothing. To the person who posted about the employee in the photograph, while I as a former employee didn't leave in the best of circumstances can clearly say he is a harmless person, I worked with him for over a year and he and I got along and he doesn't deserved to be included in a review. That being said, the staff is friendly, food is reasonably Priced. You get Ana or Dennis or Patricia as your server and guaranteed you are getting the best service this place has to offer. The food is obviously good or else people wouldn't be waiting forever for a table, be patient the people working are working hard to ensure your meal is prepared to perfection. I usually go to The Waffle Shop when I go out to breakfast but I had an IHOP $10 Gift card from work so I decided to give it a try, I moved here from California barely 2 years ago and never been to this IHOP before. The staff was nice but there wasn't a choice of items to swap for pancakes if you don't want pancakes with your meal, I got the sirloin tips meal because I wanted sirloin steak and the only steaks they had are t-bone. I felt like I was waiting forever to get my food, when I finally got received my food it got cold very quickly because even though it was a rainy morning they had the cold air conditioning running. My breakfast was not very tasty it was bland and the sauce they sautéed the sirloin and mushrooms in had a sweet taste instead of a steak sauce taste which my tastebuds did not like. I gave the IHOP in State College a try and I'm going to stick with The Waffle Shop. Also IHOP still has it's 24 hour sign on the building and they are not open 24 hours. read more
