Overall, my family had a great experience at Happy Valley Live. It was their first weekend open and it was apparent that they were still trying to work out the kinks. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu; however, the service was VERY slow. The menu was primarily Italian American and I was informed that the owner had the cheesesteak rolls shipped from a bakery in Philly. I had the cheesesteak, which was just okay. It didn't have alot of meat in it and seemed to be more bread than steak. My husband had the chicken wings which he said were great! The menu offers creamery ice cream, but they didn't have it available the night we visited. I think this restaurant has tons of potential for the state college area, they just need time to get into their groove. We'll certainly stop by again in the future.

3 alarm wings were spot on. Perfectly cooked . Nice selection of beverages to wash it down with. Can't wait to come for a sit down dinner. Great location, easy in and out parking lot , none of the hassle of downtown garages or meters. Well done chef Pat!

There is no reason this place shouldn't have a 5 star rating!!!!…read more My husband and I stopped in on a Friday night - the Friday before valentines at that! We sat at the bar and despite how packed it was, our service & speed of our food and drinks was amazing! We asked for our burger to be split & they even plated it separately! We can't wait to be back!!!

I was disappointed with our most recent visit to The Field…read more We were here in January and had an excellent experience. The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.

I loved the nostalgia, vibes, and cool decor especially the colored lights strung over the bar, the photo of Bill Pickles on the back wall, and the bathrooms with a history of names on the walls. The Pickle Back Shot, a shot of whiskey accompanied by pickle juice, was fun and unique. The pickle juice chaser added a cool element to the shot of whiskey. I also loved their Frozen Kentucky Coffee which was almost a dessert. Plus, I got to keep the souvenir plastic cup! There were also lots of attentive bartenders and a smaller bar, in addition to the main bar, which made it easier to get drinks/food. During the week, they have many events including their popular Country Night on Tuesdays where patrons can dance on the bar. Have fun!

The smoked wings, pulled pork, and brisket sandwiches are full of flavor, and the house-made sauces like Carolina Gold are worth trying. It still has that laid-back college bar vibe with great drink specials, trivia nights, and the legendary country night on Tuesdays. The staff is friendly, and the food comes out hot and fresh. It's not the biggest spot, but it stays packed for a reason. Whether you're in for a night out, a casual meal, or just drinks with friends, Pickles delivers. The fried pickles hit every time, and their updated food game makes it more than just a bar. Solid choice if you're in State College and want a fun, tasty spot that doesn't miss.

Gave it a try and we walked in like a scene from a movie, the handful of locals at the bar gave us a once over. Found our way to a table, fella came from behind the bar and took it appetizer and drinks order. Cheese fries of sorts were very yummy. The Arena is connected to a bowling alley and does have a stage of sorts, looks like either live music or karaoke might take place. TVs are available to watch sporting events but the TVs might be 10+ year old, not the highest resolution by any means. Looking for a beer and opportunity to do some people watching be sure to visit the Arena.

Our table got cheesy garlic bread, a hot honey pepperoni pizza, and a sweet bourbon BBQ and bacon pulled chicken sandwich and fries and all the food was to die for. Everything was so fresh. Possibly my new favorite restaurant in town. We spoke with the manager that says they do karaoke nights, poker nights, paint nights, murder mystery dinners, etc there all the time. Not to mention the darts, pool tables, and bowling. If you have never been here or haven't been here lately, I highly recommend it.
