This place was super yummy! It was super spacious inside and cute. The nachos were the crown jewel of the meal and the pulled pork was super good too, the one in the sandwich was spicy and the 1/4 pound was pretty standard. The service was also pretty quick too

We sat outside at Bill Pickle's Tap Room, a beautiful day for a well made Smoked Old Fashioned. I can't wait to return for another!

If you looking for a great lunch place in State College you need to go here! When we fly in for a football game we always stop here for lunch! We try to sit outside when we can. They actually changed up the menu recently for the good! Starting out with drinks, they have ice cold beers as always, they added Margaritas! I'm a Margarita and tequila guy. They actually have very good no additive tequila, tequila Ocho! Always ask for No Additive Tequila! The menu changed to include BBQ, now living in the south I was skeptical. I ordered the Hangry Butcher.... WOW, glad I did, it was amazing! They must have a new chef!!! My Granddaughter got a PBJ and she crushed it! Great job Pickle's!

My side order of mac n cheese was pretty good. I was not that hungry, so I only ordered the mac n cheese. Troegs Perpetual IPA is damn good anytime you can get it. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We hope to get back here and try the other food they have.

I think this used to be a Rite Aid when I was at Penn State lol. Anyway it's a cute little spot right near Hammond building. If it had been here in my student days I prob would have come a lot. We had no problem getting in and getting seats at the bar. I saw there was a $3 ice tea haha and I really wasn't wanting to drink cheap liquor - but my arm was twisted by the price - and by the awesome bartender wearing a Sixers jersey. Everyone was super friendly and the place was filled w adults (non students). overall it was a good spot and I will be back next time I'm in State College.

We like this place but unfortunately don't end up staying because it is consistently packed and we can't get a seat at the bar. There was a group doing a Christmas pub crawl so they were taking up a lot of the bar. We ended up at a table and had very good service. We ordered a glass of red and a lemondrop martini plus the kale salad special and a tuna salad BLT sandwich. We really enjoyed the sandwich because it was not made with a ton of mayo. We would definitely order that again. This is a fun place with music playing and we enjoyed ourselves.

Perfectly good spot near Penn State open on Sundays! A big plus! I feel like I was the odd person out with my order, and would go back again for something other than the salad. My mediterranean salad was good in fact! Lots of quinoa, fresh veggies and a good dressing. Only thing was the chicken wasn't seasoned well, but I did enjoy my salad after a weekend of toil on the body. The prices were fantastic and the wine they had was on a deal and quite good. I did get to try some of their other bar fare and they had great fry ups on the chicken tenders and french fries. Very good vibe here with lots of TVs to watch sports. Form time to time, I am in the area and would return!

Went to State College on a Sunday for a hockey game. We decided to try pickles out for some lunch. We sat at the bar. The bartender that waited on us was the sweetest kid. I started with a $15 espresso martini it was pretty darn delicious!! I do have to say this was my 1st ever warm espresso martini they are normally cold, but it did not disappoint!! Of course, my friend then got a complementary plate of some dill pickles, which we loved. For lunch, we got the smoked beef brisket melt for $15, which came with a bag of chips. My friends got a special of the Sunday fare menu, which we were told Sunday fare menu the items are most likely never come back. They both got the Chopped Italian salad for $13 and a starter of the fried pickles for $12 served with Jon Jon sauce, which I have no idea what it was, but it was amazing!!! We did also get a side of their homemade ranch. However, I did not care for it. I don't normally like heavy based dill ranch. The salads were a really good size, the atmosphere was awesome. They had a ton of all-day everyday drink specials. I got the pain killer, and it did not disappoint. If you're in the area, I highly recommend.

Military discount that is only for food according to the bartender we had

Solid bartenders with positive attitudes. Good midwestern hospitality. I'd definitely return to have a beer.

Vibe was lame. Ambiance was bad. Drinks were cheap. I would definitely return if most of the other bars were closed.

I was disappointed with our most recent visit to The Field…read more We were here in January and had an excellent experience. The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.

Gave it a try and we walked in like a scene from a movie, the handful of locals at the bar gave us a once over. The Arena is connected to a bowling alley and does have a stage of sorts, looks like either live music or karaoke might take place. TVs are available to watch sporting events but the TVs might be 10+ year old, not the highest resolution by any means. Our table got cheesy garlic bread, a hot honey pepperoni pizza, and a sweet bourbon BBQ and bacon pulled chicken sandwich and fries and all the food was to die for. Everything was so fresh. Possibly my new favorite restaurant in town. We spoke with the manager that says they do karaoke nights, poker nights, paint nights, murder mystery dinners, etc there all the time. Not to mention the darts, pool tables, and bowling. If you have never been here or haven't been here lately, I highly recommend it.
