Honestly, I thought this place was closed. When I walked in there was not another soul to be seen except for an employee eating in one of the booths. That should have been my first indication to turn right around and exit. I walked up to the counter and asked if they were closed and they said no so I proceeded to the place where you place an order. I stood there for several minutes while the employee behind the counter paced back-and-forth while muttering something to himself. I kept looking at him thinking OK he's going to come take my order. That never happened. I generally like Qdoba and I thought the food was good in the past, but I didn't even get a chance to get any food this time. I sat there for probably twice as long as I should have just wondering what was happening. I don't want to bash anyone but I think he was having a breakdown or is just not all there. With so many restaurants on Atherton I decided to walk away and go get something else. Unfortunately I'd avoid this place until they figure out service. I'd even accept a quick "hang on for just one minute please" while waiting, I had nothing else planned tonight. I put my order in online 10 minutes before I got here. Then I see all the staff standing around doing nothing even when there's a line of people so I ask if they got my order and they said yes. Even when the small line cleared none of them started making a quesadilla so I got back in line because I figured that was the only way it was gonna be done. He said they were short on ingredients today and I asked for a refund and then he said that you have to get that from the manager when he arrives, I am driving State College and Pittsburgh for work and was unable to "wait for manager " They told me I could not order anything else because the register is down. Everything was expertly prepared and packed and they provided everything from napkins to plasticware to the warmers for the food! The manager could not be more helpful! Every. Single. Time. I visit this location, I say I'll never return for one reason or another. My kids like it, so I keep going back for them. I've had some seriously cranky and downright rude folks wait on me, almost every time. I always cringe when they ring up my order total because it's just so expensive! I wouldn't mind paying a higher price if the quality and quantity of food matched the cost. The last time I was there, I spent $32 on chips and queso and 4 tacos (and 2 small drinks). One of the tacos fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The ground beef was very dry and didn't taste very good- it kind of tasted like cardboard to be honest. I told my kids if they want this kind of food, Moe's is right across the street. I'm done paying for "meh" food and food that we can't eat, served by angry and mean people. No thank you. read more

We generally order food from Qdoba -- with Covid-19 restrictions and attempts at keeping food and people safe, I was surprised to see a food prep employee wearing a mask below his nose and breathing all over the food orders he was working on -- not to mention so much facial hair also not covered. My wife and I are huge fans and eat at different Qdobas frequently. This trip was disappointing. Their were several things that they were out of when we started ordering. We had to wait for several ingredients and the staff didn't apologize or seem to care. They didn't smile and made very little if any eye contact. Food was good just like the downtown one but this location is severely understaffed. It's the 3rd time I had to wait about 5+ mins before getting served while there is no one in line. I had to wait for them to finish making the food before they could take my order and this was at noon time which is 1 hour after they open. If no one wants to work here then, management needs to step up and come work at this location or pay these students more than minimum wage so your turn over isn't so high. read more

I stopped into this Qdoba this evening and the front doors were locked however people were inside eating and working. I went to the side door which was unlocked and proceeded to order. There were 2 people working which didn't seem so bad since there were only 3 customers inside who already had their food and were sitting and eating. The older bald gentleman behind the counter working was disheveled and frazzled trying his best to get my food as fast as possible. He did a great job except the younger girl working with him distracted him with holding the phone to his ear- making him distracted and he accidentally put beans in my bowl- which I didn't want. Of course that was the last of the rice so he had to go in the back and get a new container and bring it out. No big deal, I was very patient and polite with him as I could tell it's been a bad night for him. He completed my order and it was time for me to pay. I told the girl twice I wanted chips - additionally a side of queso was sitting there so she had 3 hints. No gloves. I also asked for a water bottle - no gloves and tomato chunks on my water, thanks. The entire counter was a complete disaster. Shredded cheese, queso, lettuce, corn everywhere and all mixed in with other containers. The younger girl had a complete unapologetic flat affect, not professional, not accommodating, not helpful to her coworker. If she was trying to seem uninterested in working there she hit the nail on the head. I have been absolutely in love with Qdoba since I came to college. I was so excited to see that a Qdoba opened up on my side of town as an off campus student. I love the ambiance, the cool, funky music and the overall vibe of the place. The employees are always super friendly and helpful and seem in tune with their community as I have seen them interact with what I'm assuming can only be regulars. The food is always made fast and accurately and can I just say that it is DELICIOUS. I will be returning over and over again.
