5/5 Food: Great for fresh options. I had the falafel, chicken shawarma, and spicy steak bowls and liked each one. The portion sizes are large, enough for lunch and dinner. The spicy foods were actually spicy, and the falafel was fresh and not dry. Definitely my quick go-to salad/ fresh bowl place for now. It is cold and cafeteria-style. Great option for state college. 4/5 Ambiance: modern/ industrial fast casual looking interior- tile-like wall is pretty, as are the jars of pickled vegetables and the cage lattices separating the dining high tables. Overall a clean feel and not too sterile feeling, though it may be on the border of being a bit too-bare-bones. This is the kind of place I could see bringing someone from out of town to. Music was really loud, as seems to be the style at these kinds of places, which could make quality conversations hard to do. 4/5 Service: Service was good. I ordered three bowls and they were served promptly. It didn't seem like anything special to make the dish, the server was literally looking at the recipe on the receipt and putting scoops of each into the bowl, which makes sense, especially for custom made bowls. This destroyed all imaginations of a chef custom making a dish to be tailored to the seasons, etc but the food was still tasty. We did the large Mezeh feast for our group of 8 people and it was absolutely perfect! We added on the greens so some people can make some salads as well and it was perfect! The chicken shawarma had great flavor and had a little spicy kick to it! If you're looking for a place for a big group that has some healthy, flavorful food, totally try this place out! Mezeh is a natural mediterranean food restaurant that makes their food from scratch daily. If you're familiar with Chipotle consider Mezeh as the mediterranean version.They claim to have over 30 toppings with various sauces but who's counting. You can pick a "pre made" offering or a "build your own" bowl, pita or wrap. Now like Chipotle it's a fast food style establishment so don't expect the 4 seasons. Mezeh is situated in one of the newer high rises along Calder Way. If you're driving then access stinks but parking is available within a block or two. The restaurant interior is fresh and modern and I enjoyed the atmoshpere. It's a newer restaurant in a College town so staff and service can be hit or miss. During my visit they were slow so everything seemed to work out great. I ordered a falalfel bowl and it was delicious. It had some pita on the side, hummus, tzatziki, tahini, and an assortment of mediterranean toppings. Their falalfel was fresh and moist. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this place on my first visit. Pricing was similar to chipotle ($10/bowl) which I thought was very reasonable for the portion size and quality. Such a great spot! They have amazing vegetarian options -- the falafel was incredible and so flavorful. Portions are huge and super filling, plus I love that all the bowls come with a little pita on the side. The staff were kind and welcoming, and service was really quick. Open late and made to order wraps and bowls! Cool decor, and plenty of seating. I ordered a falafel bowl with tzatziki, rice and greens. Nice healthy meal and added a falafel wrap for my wife. Where do I start? The location is great. The food is great. The service was fabulous. The staff running this location was amazing. I have been to many Mezeh locations on the east coast. I wish I liked this place more. Ordered takeout and maybe they were just having a bad night. Paid extra for lamb in a bowl and it had a small little scoop. Honestly felt ripped off by this place. The bowls weren't filled up, missing items in each of the bowls, and just generally lackluster. Really disappointing and I don't think I would go back or recommend anyone else to go either. I really wanted to like this place because I love Mediterranean food. But, I simply can't. Tried this place twice already. The food was cold. It's served cafeteria style and one of the workers there both times (same employee) was visibly sick with no mask. Why in the world would someone coughing be serving food? The good - roasted eggplant, pickled turnips, Turkish yogurt dip, Greek beet dip, Greek Feta sauce, and vinaigrettes. Some things are spicy that aren't marked as spicy. Prefer kebob over shwarma, which is spicier. Pita was good. The tzatziki is watery and yet the lemon garlic is thick. Place is really popular, but I much prefer Roots which is similar in style but the family enjoys way more. Truly appreciate the allergen menu. read more
