My wife and I met a friend here for lunch. I love Indian curries and my wife loves Mediterranean food. At Fatoum, we both could get something that we wanted. I ordered Chicken Vindaloo with rice. The vindaloo was very good and spicy but not too hot. The portion was large. I took half home for another meal. My wife ordered the Mezza Platter and she enjoyed it. I saw on the menu a drink that I had never heard of, Brazilian Lemonade. I ordered it and it was delicious. It tasted like a liquid key lime pie. Brazilian Lemonade is made with limes, sweetened condensed milk and ice. It was not too sweet and not too tart. I would return here again for a meal. read more

My husband and I stopped here on our way out of State College towards Harrisburg airport. The food was delicious and satisfying, we ordered the hummus combo and used some of the hummus as a side dip/sauce for our lunch orders. Don't waste your money. I don't write many yelp reviews, you need to really make an impression (good or bad!). This was far from good. I ordered online for pickup (Arayes and Falafel) and the problems started. I received both a web notice and an email that my food would be immediately ready for pickup. Seemed weird, but I figured perhaps they have a good amount staged and could just bag it. Once I arrived at the store I was greeted by an empty host counter, and when someone finally showed up he looked annoyed and bored to be there. I told him about the order and he went to check. I saw him in the dining area a few times afterwards, but no stop up front to say "just a few minutes" or such. Eventually (truthfully, not long after - perhaps 7 minutes) he came out with a bag and said, "Here you go sir. Jonathan, right?" -- "Josh", I replied --- "Something like that." he said, maintaining bored eye contact with anywhere but my face. Despite the hiccups, I arrived home excited to try the food. I was immediately disappointed. Both dishes were supposed to come with sauce - Tahini with the falafel and Tzatziki with the Arayes. There was no sauce. I call the restaurant - it went to voicemail. I drove back - waited again at the empty host counter, and was eventually greeted by a young woman. She was much more welcoming and engaged than the prior person. I explained what happened and she said she would be right back. A few minutes later the original guy came back with a bag with "Sorry about that". I got home and immediately regretted not looking in the bag while still at the restaurant. I received two containers of Tahini and one of some mystery green sauce. Google tells me that Tzatziki can be green, but this neither tastes nor looks like any tzatziki I've ever had. (Not being a culinary expert I don't mind being corrected if I am wrong here) All sauces refrigerator cold. Maybe they are supposed to be? Checking the menu to see if I misremembered, I saw that they were also supposed to come with some sort of "arabic bread" which was missing. I did not call again and resigned myself to eating the already lukewarm food. The falafel was overcooked and very dry. Reminded me of hockey pucks. One bite was enough. Now we get to the redeeming part of the story... the Arayes are phenomenal. They need no sauce. 10/10. I am all for paying well for high-quality food and service, but I won't be giving any more money to this establishment until/unless they iron out their hospitality and quality processes. Truly a shame, because the interior looks nice and someone there really knows how to cook. read more

This was just meh for me. Service was very slow. Food just ok, but what really got me was $6 for a hot Earl Grey tea, which was just made with a tea bag. The whole box of tea probably costs less than that. I doubt I will be back. read more

The food was soooo amazing. As an Arab myself, best Mediterranean food in state college. The mint mojito was delicious as well! We got grape leaves and the mixed grill to share. Was a lot of food for two! Our server was a delight, the atmosphere is super cute. Go support them and try it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Overall food is overpriced and just ok. We got the hummus to start, which was very tahini forward but still pretty good. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. I got the beef shawarma which was incredibly salty and lacked a bit of spice, the fries were very good though. My partner got the gambari, which was also pretty good, but was very generously spiced and yet again very salty. The rice was also salted and overcooked. Overall the two items, hummus, and a mango lassi ended up being close to $80. We could have gotten unlucky with our choices but overall this place is needlessly expensive for the quality and ingredients. read more

We had high hopes, which were immediately dashed by underseasoned mezze, undercooked fatteh eggplant and overcooked falafel. There's no option to substitute salad or another side for fries. The service and food quality is poor in here. Prices are higher than normal. They add gratuity to sub total and taxes which inflates the customary amount, so be careful when paying. Also, the waitress did not provide a final bill, just an amount on a screen to pay. I asked to see the itemized bill to check the prices. It seemed as though they were not being transparent. I ordered breakfast which included an omelette, breakfast potatoes and toast. I had to remind the waitress about the toast which I had to wait an additional ten minutes. It was cold and not buttered and they brought only 1 piece, which traditionally you get two. She did bring out another piece but it all tasted stale. While waiting, the rest of my food got cold. There were only two eggs in my omelette, not the traditional three eggs. I would not patronize this establishment again. There is a reason there is a line at the Waffle Shop. Go there instead, it's worth the wait. Fatoum is terrible! Avoid at all costs. read more
