I stopped here (starving) with friends after a long night of partying in Happy Valley and was extremely impressed. The chicken box w/fries was off the hook! The food was so good I felt like I was licking the box clean. #Dabomb At $8 the chicken box is priced just right. There's no wonder the line was out the door. Trust me it's worth the wait! If I ever return to Penn State best believe I'll be back.

Another addition to what I like to irreverently call Happy Valley's very own "Arab spring" that's been happening in the last few months -- thankfully a non-violent, culinary type of spring.... and, of course, not exclusively Arabic. State College has finally branched out from Yet Another Predictable "Asian" Place with a number of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern eateries such as The Greek, Pita Cabana with its two locations offering Lebanese cuisine -- and now this delightful take-out kebab place run by two very friendly Turkish guys. The chicken kebab looks fab, tho I unfortunately wasn't hungry enough to try one this time around (given the incredibly large portion, I'm not sure whether I'll *ever* be hungry enuff to polish off one of those suckers all by myself. Seriously -- the kebab sandwiches are bigger than your head. I opted instead for lahmaçun aka Turkish pizza: a freshly (!!) baked flatbread topped with seasoned beef, then baked briefly in the oven, and finally topped with various green and cold stuff of your choice - feta, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cukes, etc. I'm a gal of simple delights, so just lettuce & tomatoes were fine for me, with a good sploosh of garlicky yogurt sauce and (not quite enough) hot stuff. I'll need to tell them to crank it up a bit next time. Penn Kebab, like Pita Cabana, sells delicious bottled ayran which really is the perfect drink for this kind of food. Happiness. Makes me miss Berlin just a tiny little bit less....

They make their wraps right in front of you as u wait. Delicious

Fell in love with kebab stands in Germany, and this place is authentic and delicious. Great options, and friendly people. A new favorite.

We ordered and received our food quickly and the waitress was very kind. The restaurant was mostly occupied, but didn't feel cramped or packed. Very nice stop to try something new!

I ordered online for pickup (Arayes and Falafel) and the problems started. I received both a web notice and an email that my food would be immediately ready for pickup. Seemed weird, but I figured perhaps they have a good amount staged and could just bag it. Once I arrived at the store I was greeted by an empty host counter, and when someone finally showed up he looked annoyed and bored to be there. I told him about the order and he went to check. I saw him in the dining area a few times afterwards, but no stop up front to say "just a few minutes" or such. Eventually (truthfully, not long after - perhaps 7 minutes) he came out with a bag and said, "Here you go sir. Jonathan, right?" -- "Josh", I replied --- "Something like that." he said, maintaining bored eye contact with anywhere but my face. Despite the hiccups, I arrived home excited to try the food. I was immediately disappointed. Both dishes were supposed to come with sauce - Tahini with the falafel and Tzatziki with the Arayes. There was no sauce. I call the restaurant - it went to voicemail. I drove back - waited again at the empty host counter, and was eventually greeted by a young woman. She was much more welcoming and engaged than the prior person. I explained what happened and she said she would be right back. A few minutes later the original guy came back with a bag with "Sorry about that". I got home and immediately regretted not looking in the bag while still at the restaurant. I received two containers of Tahini and one of some mystery green sauce. Google tells me that Tzatziki can be green, but this neither tastes nor looks like any tzatziki I've ever had. (Not being a culinary expert I don't mind being corrected if I am wrong here) All sauces refrigerator cold. Maybe they are supposed to be? Checking the menu to see if I misremembered, I saw that they were also supposed to come with some sort of "arabic bread" which was missing. I did not call again and resigned myself to eating the already lukewarm food. The falafel was overcooked and very dry. Reminded me of hockey pucks. One bite was enough. Now we get to the redeeming part of the story... the Arayes are phenomenal. They need no sauce. 10/10. I am all for paying well for high-quality food and service, but I won't be giving any more money to this establishment until/unless they iron out their hospitality and quality processes. Truly a shame, because the interior looks nice and someone there really knows how to cook.

Back in my delivery days, I was always impressed with the freshness and variety of ingredients,…read moretoppings & dressings. The service also was always super-friendly and speedy. Today was the first time I finally got to try their salad myself: got my "Own It" bowl for lunch, and it was just about as good as I'd expected. Everything was fresh (no slimy lettuce or brown avocado or other icky stuff), the portion is *ginormous*, i.e. could easily feed two adults for lunch, and the dressing tasty. My only criticisms would be that the 'roasted corn' was decidedly not - just your regular ole corn, and the kale needs to be treated to a spa day or at least a massage. It was like chewing lawn trimmings. However, those are two minor issues that won't prevent me from getting another salad in the future (minus the lawn trimmings, perhaps), as there are several other combos & dressings waiting to be tasted. Definitely recommended if ya like yer salad ;-)

I typically opt for the "Backyard BBQ" chicken salad and it's delicous. They have several other pre determined options or you can build your own. They also allow substitutions of their ingredients. I've never tried the grain bowls here as I believe that's a fairly new addition to their menu. The restaurant is small with some outside seating but ambiance is limited -- more of an eat and go kind of spot. Pricing is comparable to Mezeh, Roots, Playa bowls and other similar "healthy" options. Most menu items range from $12-14/each.
