I had been going to Yallah for tacos and burritos for years and recently saw a sign for hot chicken without any hoopla about a grand opening or anything, so I wanted to come check it out. The fried chicken scene in State College has really blown up in the last couple years, and yallah hot chicken is the next installment of fried chicken places. This location is right next to the original food truck but in the weird underground part of the buildings in Calder way, so it is easy to miss. Upon entering I discovered this is actually the storefront for a few restaurants in State College - a burger place, a crepe place, and hot chicken! So you could go to this one spot and have a pretty huge variety to choose from! The fried chicken sandwich I got is one of the best (if not the best) I've had in State College. Cheaper than places like Federal, but way more flavor than Canes or Big Deans. I got xtra hot and it was spicy but nothing crazy. The fries were ok but bland, so I got a side of their "special sauce" and that made them pretty tasty. The ambiance is essentially non-existent, as I think this place mainly serves things like Uber eats and Door Dash. There are some chairs and tables if you wanted to eat there, but takeaway seems like the best option. read more

I'll be nice with 4 stars. Probably only 3 based on wait time and flavor. Long wait for a burrito and 3 tacos when not that busy. Ingredients were fresh, just not bursting with flavor. My burrito needed just a little more flavor and not just hot sauce, although it helped. Shrimp tacos were the same, good not great. After walking around looking for a spot to eat lunch we came across this food truck. The music caught our attention as they were playing some good jams. Order: Nachos (Steak) - This was a huge order of delicious nachos. It came with very well seasoned pulled pork looking steak. It was smothered in melted and grated cheese (yum), corn, lettuce, guacamole, and jalapeño. Each bite was satisfying. Quesadilla (Steak) - My daughter enjoyed these with a side of sour cream. The portion wasn't too big nor small - perfect amount to serve one person. (Not pictured) Monster Burrito (Chicken) - This was a full and filling burrito. It came with chicken, corn, lettuce, guacamole and onions. Each bite was enjoyed with a dash of salsa. There are tables next to and across the food truck. There is no shade however we enjoyed our lunch issue free. We parked about a block away in a public parking lot that requires payment upon exiting. read more

Mouthwatering Deliciousness! We were fortunate enough to try Yallah Taco both times they did a Kitchen Takeover at Shy Bear Brewing and were impressed with the layers of flavor, portion size, and quality of ingredients. Both visits we started off with their loaded nachos with chicken, piled high with toppings and their delicious Yallah sauce! Very filling! We've sampled 4 of their tacos with the beef, cauliflower, and grilled shrimp being very good, but the highlight was the fish tacos! These were absolutely delicious and one of the few fish tacos I've come across on the east coast that actually live up to the standards of the famed places on the west coast. Everything about these fish tacos was spot on from the tortilla, to the perfectly seasoned/cooked fish, to the toppings! A must have for any fish taco lover. I am anxiously looking forward to trying their new established on College Ave and sampling some of their other dishes! We wouldn't think twice driving the 40 minutes to SC to eat at Yallah! So I went up to the counter and I ordered two chicken tacos, fully loaded with all the toppings. These tacos were off the chain! Filled with flavor and everything was cooked to perfection! The newest and one of my favorite late night food spots in downtown State College. Taking over an old asian bubble tea house, Yallah Taco is only a few weeks in business but word is spreading like wildfire about this wonderful place. With its carnival style lights and bright decor, you can't miss it walking down Calder. The menu is simple. 2 street style tacos for $5 or a burrito for $5. As for choices: chicken, steak, shrimp, fish, and veggie. Boy do they put out a good product though. Right now, their biggest downside is speed. People are ordering quickly and they have max 2 or 3 people on the line making these tacos and burritos. But they are worth the wait. Also the burrito was a bit on the smaller side (baked potato size, not small child size (cough cough Chipotle cough cough)). I left full, but not stuffed, which you can take whatever way you want. Looking forward to seeing these guys expand, get more social media presence, and hopefully turn into a late night staple. read more

Two of us visited here after a night out at The Brewery, which is a hop, skip and a jump from the place. We were hungry and looking for something close by since it was snowing and cold as hell out and we just wanted to get back to our hotel. We saw the bright lights and colors and were thanking God we didn't have to go to Sheetz. We love Mexican food so we thought we'd give it a try. As we are walking up, there are about 5 very intoxicated college girls in line ahead of us, one of which knocks over the hot sauce (glass) bottle that is sitting on the ledge and it smashes in a big mess. At that point I think she forgot why she was there and started crying about her heels being ruined. As her friends consoled her, she quickly said she just wanted her, "f'in quesadilla" and the world was ok again. We couldn't help but giggle. We get our turn and we both order the Monster Burritos--he orders steak, I order chicken. Two burritos along with a bag of tortilla chips and salsa cost a little over $20. Not bad. And the burritos were HUGE. We take the food back to our hotel and that's where the disappointment starts....there was absolutely no flavor to these things. They definitely needed some hot sauce, cheese sauce, salt, SOMETHING. And I'm 99% sure those are French fries inside the burrito. I didn't even see/taste any chicken. I got through a few bites, only because I idiotically skipped dinner that night and decided to take the rest home the next day where I could *hopefully* doctor it up. Overall, it seemed like a popular place, especially for the crowd that had too much to drink. I should note that we were sober. Maybe that was the problem. This place would definitely qualify as providing cheap and large quantity "Mexican" food for those with the alcohol munchies. read more

Yallah Taco is one of the things I miss most about living in State College. I probably ate Yallah once a week wether it was lunch or a late night snack. I usually got their chicken and cheese quesadilla, but sometimes ordered their chicken nachos. Either way, you must try the Yallah sauce. All of this delicious food comes out of this little colorful taco stand conveniently located near all of the night life. The staff is very friendly and does a great job of serving large crowds and drunk people late at night. They are on most of the delivery services in State College. They provide benches for people to eat their food. But most people don't know that they also provide seating in another business just downstairs that has the same owners. I have no doubt that Yallah will be a staple of State College for a long time. Not to mention on my birthday, they gave me a free quesadilla and I will never forget that! read more
