This is a late written review. I remember when they replaced mang Chung Chinese restaurant with this restaurant. Now, I'm not Mexican so I can't say much. But the food is just AWFUL. I have no idea why people like it so much. I even tried getting a BURGER and the burger tasted like overly cooked hash browns that nobody put seasoning on. It's nasty. The nachos are even bad. I haven't had food this bad since Hardee's. Or maybe that time my sister had to cook for a food truck fundraiser. Honestly can't believe they replaced a perfect restaurant with this crap. It sucks. This is my go-to place for Mexican food. My favorite item is the Tacos Al Pastor. The pork is very flavorful and the green sauce served on the side is exceptional. Add the beans and rice and it's a filling meal. The wait staff are all very nice and efficient. The food is always hot and quick. The restaurant is clean, but the decor is a little cliche. Rey Azteca is an oasis in a restaurant desert. The two-sided menu has about every combination of Mexican and Tex-Mex you could think of, including vegetarian options and a variety of shrimp dishes. We really enjoyed the shrimp fajitas we had -- they were extremely generous with the shrimp, which was cooked perfectly. The horchata was tasty, too. And the decor is really fun: the bar chairs and the booths are carved and painted with all kinds of scenes and there's an "Aztec temple" near the entrance. We'll be back! read more

Terrible customer service. even though they make chili relleno AND have burritos, they were not willing to put a chili relleno on a burrito even when we offered to pay an up charge. they have all the ingredients on hand and made but were completely unwilling to take 1 second to put it together on a burrito. Off the beaten path. We were on I80 looking for a place to eat and discovered this place via Google search. Since nothing else was close we decided to drive the extra 6 miles off the interstate. Rey Azteca is very solid Mexican restaurant and a nice addition to the Lock Haven/Mill Hall area. I've visited twice and on both occasions the service was fast and friendly, the food was piping hot when served, and the dining area was spotless. Chips and salsa are provided with all meals; free refills on soft drinks. Prices are reasonable--between $6-$8 for generous lunch specials. The food is not too spicy and well-suited for multiple tastes. Mexican food aficionados might find it too mild for their tastes but it is fresh and tasty. read more

Had an amazing lunch today. Food was incredible and the ambiance was bright, very colorful and unique. I would definitely return.

Staff was okay and nice, however I came in this establishment to have a good quality meal. However I was left with distaste because I not only ate a poorly made nacho platter which had weird beans on when I asked for no beans. Which was just flat out rude. But I then was met with the worst food poisoning of my life. Again love the staff but not worth me shitting myself. read more

The only issue with this restaurant is the parking situation. It is very difficult to get in to and out of, and you pull out on to a road that people fly by on, so it's kind of dangerous. Finally after the iconic Chinese buffet had closed we get this great restaurant. What it is not to love about clean establishment and fresh food? They make you feel welcome from the start of the order right up to you get the check! Everything is amazing on the menu and you can never really have a bad choice here. I suggest if you try to compare this to taco bell don't even bother because you probably have no idea what a great dining experience is. The food comes out fast , hot, and plentiful. They have a wide selection of drinks as well. When you ask for something the waiter will almost always accommodate to you. The only downside that I could come up with is their taco Tuesday special. They offer $0.99 hard shell tacos only. I am more of soft shell kinda person and seeing how the state college location offers both variety I thought this would be the same but the manager was not having it. I even tried to barter considering I bought a large quantity for the family plus and addition entrée and drinks.
