Grandma's Sampler Pancake Breakfast
Gabby H.

Honestly I had low expectations going into it, and ya know for Cracker Barrel that might be key to a good dining experience. The food was alright, the pancakes and eggs were probably the best on the sampler. The sausage was not good, more smoked then I like. And the hash browns were 90% cheese, but tasty. Overall the food was better then I thought it was going to be, and for breakfast it was decent. The service was honestly just bad. We got seated quick enough but our server was not knowledgeable about the menu, additionally after food came out I asked for ketchup. I ended up having to go find my own after she didn't come back. By the time I got what I needed my food was cold. We also didn't receive any refills on coffee or drinks in any form of a timely manner. Cracker Barrel had its standard decor and ambiance. The store was cute though, lots of little Knick knacks if that's what you're looking while trying to get some breakfast .

Good food and atmosphere. Waitress was helpful. Gift shop entrance and exit to get to the restaurant is less desirable ... too clustered.

Came here with three other people and was told that it'd be an hour wait. However, the wait was closer to an hour and forty five minutes. The shop they had kept us preoccupied, but near the end, we all got a bit impatient. The service was a bit slow and we had to wait a long time for our food but the location was also understaffed as they lacked servers as well as cooks. When me and my friends visited, there were only two people cooking so the wait for the food also took a while. The food was lukewarm with only one dish being piping hot which means the food had been sitting a while. Overall, I would come back because the food was good but I wish it could've been served hot.

Welp. The water and chocolate Milk were cold..... and so was everything else. It was a horrible breakfast. Cold cold cold. The butter did not even melt on the pancakes. Cold coffee, cold bacon, cold eggs, disgusting. My company was great so I guess that is what matters. Thankfully we were only traveling through. We won't be coming back and will remember this exit as a no go

So many hungover Saturday and Sunday mornings were spent here. Loved their all day breakfast - delicious pancakes and hash brown casserole. However, everything else was pretty mediocre.

Kitchen was busy?

My family does not go to Cracker Barrel often; but sometimes, here and there, once a few years. The State College location is the closest, but was the last place we stopped by last night. A rainy Saturday evening in late June, summer school season, a typical calm and regular weekend at central PA. We picked CB for its location, close to Sheetz, highway, and so on. The store and restaurant inside were half crowded. 2 min or so to get seated. The hostess assigned the first table at the entry. Our family loves food and would normally order appetizers, entries and deserts, drinks, so on, so I was a bit concerned on the tiny size of the table for Four(!) and the entry seating for privacy. At that moment, there were six to seven larger tables in the dinning hall were not seated, nor reserved (per the hostess), but she firmly refused to change table for us, in her words, "either you leave and wait for 20 minutes then come back, or stay at the table as is". I asked her why she would not satisfy the customer's need if there is no harm to switch table, she responded that they have a procedure to follow, something related to waiter/waitress rotation. I am kind of disappointed and surprised at the same time at the moment, but "gave up" for staying as the hostess' voices were absolutely much louder and clear and firm than the gentleman at the debate two nights before and I certainly didn't not want to make a family dinner night being another day with arguing and restaurant hunting. Plus, we were hungry. If everything the hostess said was true, I would recommend the store manager to CB's Board, what a good usecase of managerial and execution power through employees! Customer can be sent out to wait for empty table due to staff rotation! Wonderful! Our server at the door table was nice. Unfortunately four of six times we misrecognized her since every minute there were some other servers pass by our No.1 table either for the customers seated behind us or for takeout deliveries. We were certainly attended. The food was OK. We sill ordered appetizers, two small dishes for the sake of table size. Fried pickles were pretty good, high five. The other one was gone quick too but sorry after one night we don't remember what exactly it was - food, for sure. Something special? No. It is on the menu though! My steak&shrimp combo eventually came after a while, along with my wife's chicken salad and my daughters' hamburger and macaroni cheese orders . I was a bit wondering if they would get their food earlier than me - which could leave me hungrier... Not sure which one took the most time in the kitchen but it was absolutely the most well-done "medium" steak ever. My kids timely reminded me well-down could be healthier. Indeed. And yeah, at that moment, the dinning Hall is like this (photo). The gift store at CB is fun, as always. Good luck CB!

I was not sure what to expect when going here honestly. Let start with parking and location. It is in a decent location with other restaurants. They have their own parking lot near the restaurant and actually connected to a Sheetz. It was interesting being able to walk into a restaurant and have an entire shop there. But the shop had some really cool and useful items! I spent a good amount of the time in the shop. And if it gets crowded in the restaurant, someone could easily shop their time away. Food was decent and cheap. But the service was great! I will recommend the chicken n' dumplins though as a go to meal there!

There is no reason this place shouldn't have a 5 star rating!!!!…read more My husband and I stopped in on a Friday night - the Friday before valentines at that! I was disappointed with our most recent visit to The Field…read more We were here in January and had an excellent experience. The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.

It does exist and it's even better than how one might imagine based on the menu. We were warmly welcomed and sat right away despite being a little early. We were at a table that was kind of awkwardly blocking a doorway and my friend had to keep moving when people went through. No big deal. Maybe just not the best spot for a table (maybe turn it sideways). Our server was amazing. So friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks - I had a grapefruit spritz mocktail and my friend had a red that he really liked. To start, we had the charcuterie and the tartare. Both excellent. The tartare was so fresh and light with a little pop of spice. I had the trout and my friend had the short rib gnocchi. I was so jealous of his glutinous gnocchi but the trout was excellent. I'm not a bean person but the beans were so flavorful I could not help but to eat them. And then there was dessert. The affogato was perfect. There were a few ice cream flavors to choose from and we selected butterscotch. Highly recommend. The semifreddo. Don't let the garlic scare you. It blends well with the rich chocolate and the bright, juicy pomegranate. Try it! It's like nothing I've ever tasted before. Our server let us know they have brunch which will definitely be happening in the near future. Overall, the most perfect dinner from start to finish.

The menu was great and service was quick, then we ordered the burrata as an appetizer. Mentioned the nut allergy in our group and the server had said that they can't guarantee anything in the kitchen is safe to eat although some menu items didn't have nuts on them. The menu also says this, and maybe it's unfair to give this spot a four but in my experience restaurants shouldn't be mixing items in their dishes and there are pretty good safe serve/allergy friendly practices out there to follow and I've never had any issues. This is the first time I got a response at an American grill that they can't serve anything. Maybe it's just new to me and they're being extra cautious which is not wrong, and this place came highly recommended so I'm sure it's earned more stars, but would love to hear opinions on allergies and places that don't have "safe" serving spaces for nut allergies. Even the creamery had a nut free station

One of my friends needs ada accommodations he moved from one side of the table and the waitress was very upset and said "omg you moved". They forgot to put half of our tables orders in and half of our group had to take their food to go. They didn't give us any utensils for desert I had to get up and go the host station and grab them from the bin myself after trying to flag down anyone for 15 mins. We were then called "impatient" for trying to get pens to sign our checks. The waitress said "it's not like I want to keep you here any longer". The atmosphere hits you right away. Dark wood, old school charm, the kind of place that feels like it has stories in the walls. It is cozy, a little dim, and exactly what you would expect from a spot celebrating a century in business. The menu is not huge, but it does not need to be. It leans heavily into comfort food, with plenty of sandwich options, but enough variety that most people will find something they like. Prices are fair, nothing over the top. I started with the soup of the day, a sausage gumbo with rice. It was flavorful and satisfying without being overly spicy or heavy. A nice warm up, especially on a rainy day. For my main, I went with Bobby D's famous beef chili topped with cheddar cheese and green onions, served with cornbread. It came out in a cast iron skillet, which was a nice touch presentation wise. Portion was solid, not massive, but definitely filling. The chili leaned a little sweet, which I personally enjoyed, with just a mild kick of heat and a lot of flavor. The cornbread was excellent and tied everything together. This is not a fancy place, and it is not trying to be. It is a comfort food spot that knows its identity and sticks to it. Great for a casual meal, especially if you are in the mood for something warm and satisfying. I would absolutely come back again. Next time, I might even give those sandwiches a shot since that seems to be their bread and butter.
