I haven't been to a Red Lobster in over 10 years. My son wanted snow crab legs, I'm not a local so we rolled da dice and here we are. We had a good server, Jacqueline, I'd give her 5 stars. The rolls and fried shrimp are to salty for my liking. We didn't like the bacon mac and cheese at all. The lobster tail was, good. Slightly overcooked. Shrimp scampi was okay. The reason we came, the snow crab legs. Yes, all crab legs are frozen but some seem fresher than others. Unfortunately, these fall into the not so fresh category. How judge is by the crack of the shell and the sweetness of the meat. I'd give these 3 out of 5 stars. They were passable but nothing I'd come back for. read more

Red Lobster is one of my favorite restaurants. This was my first visit to State College Red Lobster. I was so excited! We came an hour before closing. Perhaps that was the mistake. Got an admiral feast. Everything was lukewarm except the salmon. The lobster tail, potato and grilled shrimp were all lukewarm. The lobster was under cooked with this very strong fish smell. I could not eat it. I requested the meal be taken off my bill and left. I was so hungry and so very disappointed. read more

Walked in at 8pm, place is open until 9pm, there are only two of us so seats at the bar are a thing especially since the whole place is empty. The host hesitates then tells the "bartender" that she's about to get two people at the bar. She rolled her eyes and said "ugh" so quick, we ended up walking right back out and going elsewhere. Service was fine - the waiter really tried hard - but the food was so bad. I did not realize that a restaurant that specializes in lobster and has it in its name could mess up a lobster dinner. My wife wanted to go to Red Lobster, so I did not get blamed for such a bad restaurant selection. I think they can't find any qualified cooks these days, so be careful about going to this branch. Came here for dinner tonight with some friends, and we really enjoyed the experience! I've eaten at red lobsters all over and this is one I would return to. The food was good, like at most red lobsters I've eaten but the reason I will return is the service. The host was nice when we walked in and we were seated quickly. Our server, Roman knew the menu so well and made some awesome recommendations. He was very attentive and even though you can tell the restaurant is understaffed and overwhelmed like most are right now, he still gave us top of the line service! He made sure everything came out correctly and checked on us frequently. I ended up getting some grilled lobster shrimp and salmon and it was so good. Usually I like Red lobster but this time it was awful .... I ordered the $34 steak and Maine lobster tail... for the price it was not good at all.... I ordered the steak medium and it was charred to the point where it was dry and tasteless. Worst of all, the lobster tail was unusually small and the meat had a shiny gray look to it and was slimy! It was not fresh!! The only positive here is that my server was friendly. I didn't have the time to send it back but with tax and tip, I felt like I just threw nearly $50 out the window!!! Feb 1, 2020 A group of 6 of us was here on Saturday night. We got there just before 6, had maybe a 10 minute wait for a table. Food was good. Service was OK until I asked for more butter for the baked potato and it never came until I was mostly done with my meal. Am I supposed to wait until the end of my meal to eat my baked potato, which was by then, no longer piping hot? Other than that, a typical decent Red Lobster. First time at this Red Lobster. I enjoyed the lobster & shrimp roll with a side of asparagus. I found the asparagus was done just I liked it, crisp and not mushy. They need a new hostess!! This place only gets one star because the system won't allow me to give it zero stars. Walked in as a party of 8 (online booking app wouldn't take reservations because it said 'now seating'). Hostess told us the wait would be well over an hour, we questioned the wait because every table in sight was empty and there were maybe 5 people seated at the bar. The hostess' response was "I'm not sure what you want me to do, we're expecting a table of 12 in about 20 minutes, so you'll have to wait." Since we were out to dinner for my daughters birthday, she decided we'd go to Texas Roadhouse instead - where service and food is always wonderful!! It's been years since I've been to a Red Lobster, and my wife has been begging to come here, so what the heck. The Red Lobster on North Atherton Street is conveniently located near the Wal Mart plaza and has plenty of parking. Nothing much has changed with the standard Red Lobster interior decor since the last time I've been at one, but it was clean and well decorated. We both got the dinner deal where you pick two different entrees with a salad and one side dish for $18.99. We both got the stuffed flounder (stuffed with crab meat) while I got the garlic shrimp scampi and my wife got the coconut shrimp. The stuffed flounder was very good as was my Garlic shrimp scampi. The fish just fell apart, but I actually wish I had ordered more of the scampi. We didn't care for the coconut shrimp, but then again, I'm not much into coconut. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. A manager even came by to make sure we were satisfied and offer us more to drink. Oh, and the biscuits were just as I remembered them...delicious! If I had just one tip it'd be to get the Boston peach tea. Wow ! read more

This red lobster is located in State College. I thought because it was a college town there was gonna be a lot of college kids eating inside this was not the case. The place was crowded but there was no wait. Our waitress was very nice and a tentative the only issue that I had was when she introduced yourself and went over the menu she went over almost every item on the menu!! She probably was telling us what was on the menu for 10 minutes. Finally somebody at my table told her OK you don't have to go over everything on the menu we can read the menu. I had lobster tacos which I thought were good. The rice that came with the tacos I thought was very good and I could've just eaten a bowl of that. I don't really go to red lobster that often but I've noticed that it's always crowded and noisy. Overall I thought the food was good it was nothing special. If you're around the Penn State campus I do recommend stopping here if you're in the mood for seafood. read more

I had one of the feasts that included lobster, fried shrimp, scampi and one crab claw with two sides. The lobster was extremely disappointing, it was dried out, not juicy and delicious like you would expect to be paying for. The crab was rather cold, and I've had a lot of crab in my life but this was extremely difficult to get to come out of the legs. I don't know if that means it's been frozen and thawed and frozen and thawed? I've never really had that problem with crab before except for a rare piece here and there. The shrimp scampi Was pretty good. I used that sauce for almost everything because oddly the butter that came with the crab legs had a weird flavor. It's not butter like you would get at the grocery store. It had a saltiness and another weird flavor that did not come across as a decent butter.The fried shrimp was OK because you could drown it in the cocktail sauce. My server was very nice. He brought me water with lemon, and extra lemon slices on the side which was handy. I chose Caesar Caesar side and it was delicious! I also got the broccoli was which was good dipped in the scampi sauce. I probably will not be here again. read more

The salad comes with the entree, fresh parmesan cheese on my caesar salad. The biscuits come as appetizer, they were just made, warm, soft, great taste! My main dish was tilapia with broccoli and pasta. They cook made a great job! The place is very cozy. It is also clean, smells good, not food not grease. I hope you find it as good as I did. Ate here the other night. No one was at the door to seat us. So we went to an empty table and sat down. They asked us to move because there wasn't a waiter in that area. Five minutes later they sat someone in the area we were in. The food was ok, not as well cooked as the Red Lobster in Altoona. Our waiter was great. Friendly and helpful. Today's experience went below expectation. I sat on the bar, and it was left with plates and leftovers from previous customers. It was not cleaned up even after I finished my meal! That's totally unacceptable. Food is OK in this level of price, but not outstanding. As a chain restaurant specified in fishery, Red Lobster has a solid supply of fresh seafood. Quality of the material is guaranteed. So, this restaurant would be a good choice if one comes with a good appetite for crabs, losters and shrimps. My family walked in to dine at the Red Lobster in State College. 4 staff passed us by while we waited to be seated. Not a single worker (all teenagers they appeared to be) seated us or said we will be right with you. We were finally spoken to by a staff who was going to seat us when a staff lady went up to him complaining. In front of us. We were eventually seated. Our family (included a 2 year old) waited for 1:35 minutes for our food. We were told the kitchen was backed up (there were hardly anyone in the restaurant). - we were here a couple months ago and were told the same thing (the kitchen was backed up). Our waiter was friendly but we had to ask for utensils, a clean mug, more to drink etc) across from us were clearly teenagers that were friends of the staff. Our waiter sat with them and conversed while on duty, along with another staff member. They ate off of their friends plates as they sat and talked. Meanwhile I asked for some creamer in my tea and the waiter was taking a load off. The other waiter in another section of the restaurant appeared to hide his phone while he used it. Over 2 hours we were at this Red Lobster (for a second time) with 3 children (one being 2 years old). Not easy. We witnessed 2 families leave and another man outside grumbling on the phone about his wait time. We will not be visiting here anytime soon. Oh, and my sons crab legs were cold! Walked in here with my family on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty/ quiet yet the waiters seemed to all look away instead of seating us. We waited about 5 minutes before someone seated us in a dark corner. We were brought cups of water when I noticed white pieces of something floating in all the waters. We told the waiter and he exchanged the waters but the second time around the same thing happened. I asked what it was and even they did not know. The third time around, we were finally given clear water. We placed our orders and when the food came out, i was highly disappointed. I ordered the seafood feast and the lobster was so dry and overcooked that it was barely edible. The snow crabs that were part of the meal were also dry and looked like they had been overcooked as well. The overall experience was horrible and I would not recommend coming here. I was hungry for something to dip in drawn butter. Red Lobster it is. A solo, female diner, I'm used to not being fawned over. Tonight, however, was one of my worst dining experiences. Twice my server apologized for the wait. Understandable if the place was crowded, which it was not. A manager asked a couple near me how the food and service were. She walked past me. I would have told her. I had crab legs, grilled zucchini, and rice. All were cold. The drawn butter? Cold. My beer glass was empty, but no one asked if I wanted another until I was finished eating. Red Lobster in State College is just that... the service is alright, nothing special, and the food tastes like every other Red Lobster. They have a cute little outdoor dining area as well. 1 MAJOR issue... The waitress said she wasn't sure she could accept a passport as ID. Are you effing kidding me? A passport is a HELL of a lot more official than a license. She actually had to ask the manager. I'm sorry that you're ignorant and you've never seen a passport before. LOVED it, the food is fantastic and the one thing no one knows about Red Lobster is that they do not serve any fish that is endangered or on the over fished list or anything like that. They are environmentally thoughtful of what fish they serve. The waitress was super nice and even suggested we share a dinner, which we did and she brought us extra plates, etc. The food was great, the Pinot Noir was good. Great value too!! After my sister's graduation, we decided to venture to this red lobster for a celebratory dinner. To our surprise, there were not many people waiting, and the host said that we will be seated in a couple of minutes. Much to our dismay, a couple of minutes soon turned into 50 mins. We were finally seated, and we ordered our drinks and food right away. My sister ordered a mango Mai Tai and she said it was delicious. I ordered the Southwest shrimp tacos- my new favorite meal. We got our drinks, salads, and cheddar bay biscuits right away. The biscuits were warm, freshly baked, and melt in your mouth good! Our waitor was super friendly and very accommodating. The manager then came to our table and apologized for the long wait, and offered complimentary desserts for the table. We were pleasently surprised. Our food came and I absolutely loved it! The avocado sauce and shrimp were truly amazing. The jalapeño ranch sauce was incredible, and added heat and flavored without being too spicy and overpowering. The corn and vegetables helped balance the heat out. The rice pilaf was fluffy, delicious, and also a nice break from the spice. When it came to dessert the waitor stated that we can choose up three desserts. We went with the warm apple crostada and the new york style cheesecake. Unfortunately, Red Lobster got rid of the chocolate chip lava cookie, but both the warm apple crostada and the new york style cheesecake helped fill the void. They were both so good!! I didn't get a chance to take picture of either of those desserts, they both were gone quickly. Overall this red lobster has great customer service, is clean, and the food was delicious!! read more

Great choice for dinner! Our waitress was certainly polite and checked on us multiple times, but wasn't hovering... We got the rainbow trout, coconut shrimp, and crab legs. It was all delicious. This is where I take my wife when we really want some outstanding food and are willing to pay for it. These days that doesn't seem to be that often--only special occasions or when someone gives us a gift card. It's a little more expensive than I would like, but it's really good food. This is a surprisingly large restaurant, and it can be very busy. If you come at one of the usual times (or when parents are in town for graduation or something) expect to wait for a while. The food's great, though. Like every Red Lobster you get all you can eat of those cheese biscuits. Man, they are good. I like their calimari and shrimp appetizers. My wife likes to go crazy on the shrimp there, but personally if I'm going to a nice restaurant like this, I'd rather have something a little more special. Their lobster (both Maine and rock) are very good. I like Maine a lot more, though. I got a surf-and-turf the other day and the lobster was great but the steak was awesome. They add some kind of special spice to it to make it way more special than normal steak. Anyway, it was one of my favorite culinary experiences. They did a renovation recently so it looks really different outside and somewhat different in. To me it looked fine before and it doesn't look like it's any bigger. Went here a little after they opened for the day. Food was pretty over cooked. My lobster was almost rubbery and my broccoli had a fishy taste to it. Their smoothies apparently contain greek yogurt which wasn't mentioned on the menu or else I wouldn't have ordered one. We also couldn't get seafood forks for our crab legs. Asked the waiter multiple times. First time he said they were all in the dishwasher. Second time he said he didn't know where they were. Third time he gave us a regular fork and asked us if that would work instead, which no it didn't. read more

Service is always great; the most I have ever had to wait after being seated was about 5 minutes. Really good for this town, sometimes. I've only had a few complaints ever and it was because the crab legs were way overcooked - and I mean waaay overcooked - and the wrong sides were brought. Overall pretty good. This location just completed it's renovation. They got rid of the kitsch decor and it now feels like a more upscale restaurant chain. They updated the menu and the food tastes fresher. I ordered the New Orleans Salmon with roasted red potatoes and the caesar salad. The salad was fresh and the new red potatoes were tasty. The salmon and shrimp were good, but the menu said the dish was "spicy," however I think they had that on there for people who usually eat very mild food as the dish was not spicy to my tastes--though it was still good. We called and were given a reservation for a very busy graduation evening for a party of nine. When we arrived, we were told that they don't take reservations, and that we will have to wait for 25 minutes. It is 9:00 PM... and we have a two hour drive after dinner.
