Cute little spot in seaside! We came at around 2pm on a Saturday and were seated immediately, choosing to sit outside. We got the french dip and a bowl of clam chowder to share. Off of first impressions, the portions were pretty sizable for the price! The flavors for everything were also amazing. The beef in the french dip was a little on the dry side, but the caramelized onions and the au jus more than made up for it. I was also a HUGE fan of the fries! The only thing about the place is that the parking lot is pretty tiny in comparison to what full capacity would be. Street parking doesn't look terribly easy to find either. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. The outside doesn't match the inside at all. The outside looks like dive but the inside is renovated and great. It was quiet on a Tuesday night but the service was fast and the food was enjoyable. The parking lot is small so good luck if you come on a weekend for brunch. I had a 1/2 Cobb salad and I wish the greens were spring mix but romain was fine. The veggies could be chopped a little smaller, too. The dressing was perfect. The kids Alfredo was a really large portion. Like, enough for 2 to split easily. Hubs had the shrimp scampi which he enjoyed but it wasn't memorable per say. He thought the flavor was good but a few too many tomatoes. We also had wine and beers and the bill was ~$75 for two adults and a kid. While the presentation was phenomenal, the food tasted so bland. Due to covid we decided to eat in our car meaning no salt was provided. The potatoes were undercooked, and incredibly bland. The only flavor I got was rosemary. The burrito was bland as well. No flavor at all and was poorly proportioned. The cheese was only at the bottom while all the veggies were at the top. Just a poor burrito job. It's unfortunate because the food itself looked amazing but just absolutely lacked in taste. Solid food and quick service! My husband came here for dinner on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all. The staff attended to us right away and checked on us regularly. They were friendly enough but you can tell they were rushing around trying to make sure all the customers were taken care of. The dimmed the lights and lit candles on the tables to set the mood. We ordered the mushroom appetizer served with bread. It was good and came out piping hot but I wish they gave a few more slices of bread b/c it was perfect for dipping into the mushroom glaze. For our entrees we got the cheeseburger and buttermilk fried chicken. The portions were big and our food came out hot and fresh. The burger was average and the fried chicken was juicy. My only critique is that I didn't care for all the sweetness in the fried chicken batter and the chipotle dipping sauce that comes with it needed more salt and acidity. I see great reviews for breakfast so next time we'll stop by for brunch instead. read more

Not sure how this place has a 4 star rating and busy. Food took forever to come out and once it did, it wasn't great. My entree was supposed to have mozzarella cheese but instead was given jack cheese. Aside from the cheese substitution I was also given raw toast. My daughter asked for an egg on the side, they took it upon themselves to give her 2 charge and me for both, and her french toast was undercooked. I have no problem spending money on food, however when you're entire party is unsatisfied with their meal, you're a little more hesitant to pay. All in all the bill was paid, didn't ask to speak to the manager, only asked them to remove the extra side I didn't order. It's hard to wreck breakfast, but Googie Grill managed. We arrived about 8AM with almost no one in the restaurant but waited a long time for our food. This is the result: The sausages were burned black on one side but presented with the other side up. The hash browns were soft and mushy, not at all crispy. The French toast was burned on one side and soggy in the middle. The Belgian waffle was soft (like it had been rewarmed in a microwave) and not at all crispy. Visiting Monterey we seen this place a few times and we finally tried it and it really kicked off our mini vacation. The food was delicious and the service was amazing! I feel if it wasn't for the food and service we might have had a bad trip because our mood just sky rocketed after this experience. Jessie was our waiter and he turned our entire experience around! So kind, courteous, friendly and polite. So great with our son as well. We all had a really good time. Nice little diner type place. I wanted a light dinner and ordered a Caesar salad, crab cakes and a side of mashed potatoes to take back to my hotel room. The salad was nice and crunchy but the dressing was kind of bland. I remember the first time I had crab cakes, at the Old Ebbits Grill in Wash. DC. in 1985. They were awesome, 2 inches high, crunchy and full of chunks of crab. I know you can't make a product that good and sell it for $12.95 so I am the dummy for ordering them. They were ok but if I blindfolded you and gave you some to taste you might not recognize them as crab cakes. There is an extra star for the gentleman who took my order. He was hustling the whole time I was there and still took the time to give me commute advice for the next morning. I'd consider coming back for breakfast or a nice burger for lunch. read more

Shame, I really wanted to try their food. Ordered a bowl of chowder and their Googie omelet. The claim chowder was nothing special, my food took 30 mins before it was done, then it sat on the counter for another 20 mins before one of the server tried to serve it to me. I'm not eating cold food. As I watched all of their servers walk on by ignoring food that was ready to be served. My family is in the restaurant industry. Soon as a plate is ready, it gets served immediately. I'm turned off by how inefficient this place operates. My just a fluke on my end. There are plenty of places to eat here. I have really mixed feelings about Google Grill. Our entrees of sand dabs and fried chicken were delicious. The fried chicken was the best I've tasted in years, incredibly moist and skin I couldn't resist (and I usually throw the skin away to avoid the fat). But, my husband developed cramping and diarrhea the next morning. Four doses of pepto bismol finally stopped it, so I think it was food poisoning from the very wilted Caesar salad he ate. If we had dined in, we would have sent the salad back. But, we ordered to go via the Yelp interface, and didn't see the problem until we got back to our hotel room. Hubby was too hungry to throw it away and suffered the consequences. We also had problems with our takeout order in that it wasn't ready when we arrived for pickup. The staffer said someone neglected to copy the order from Yelps's GrubHub interface to the restaurant's ordering system. So the order was not fully placed, and we had to wait 15-20 minutes for it to be prepared. Given these 2 problems, I won't be back, but to be fair, the chef has talent. read more

Decided to randomly call this small breakfast place in Monterey for a table of 16 and it was the best decision I had made. Google Grill was not only the perfect place for a large group but for small groups, family's, etc. Our server Alondra was so patient and kind with so many people which definitely made our experience 10x more enjoyable! My sisters and I shared the Tiramisu French Toast and Mediterranean Omelet. The French toast was so soft and buttery it melted in your mouth I would definitely recommend this if you're someone with a sweet tooth. The omelet came with olives, sautéed bell peppers and onions and the eggs were perfectly fluffy over the veggies. Next time I come down to Monterey I will be stopping by this place again! :) read more

Mhm !! I loved the Philly cheesesteak from this place. This was my first visit to this place. My boyfriend and I decided to stop for food on our way out of Monterey. This place had a high review so we stopped by. I must say it was veggie delirious and I appreciate the lady at the front allowing to me to substitute chicken instead of steak since I don't eat red meat. The chicken was real and not boxed ! The bread was soft and the fries went with it perfectly ! My boyfriend had the seafood pasta and he loved it !! He didn't care for the garlic bread which is typically not him so that must've been kind of bad! But everything else was very good ! To top it off we didn't eat in the restaurant it was too cold so we ate in the car and they still allowed us to come in and use the bathroom before we hit the road. What a pleasant surprise from a place with an unassuming name and exterior. It's in a random spot and it's very unimpressive from the outside, but I'm glad I trusted the Yelpers. Our family of four went on a Sunday. Child 1 had biscuits and gravy. Gravy had perfect hints of rhyme and it was not pasty at all. Child 2 had a crispy waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. I had the corned beef hash. It was delicious. The only gripe is that the amount of corned beef was very small. It was mostly a potato hash with corned beef instead of he other way around. Yum yum yum. Had the French onion soup. It was rich and delicious. For din din I had the pasta carbonara and my family members had the fried chicken and the bondie burger. Everyone was super happy with their meals. Our server was awesome. Very friendly and on top of things. What I really appreciated was our server noticed my 2 year old was hangry.
