The absolute best omelet EVER!!! GOOGIE OMELET Smoked Apple Wood Bacon, Fresh Avocado, Jack & Cheddar. For $12.95 you will thank yourself for choosing this one. I just happen to be in Seaside during the car show, 8/17/19, and someone had recommended Googie Grill. I'm so glad I stopped by as the omelet was a perfect meal and way to start a beautiful day. The grill was very clean which helped the perfectly fluffy cooked eggs to buttery perfection while overloaded with bacon and healthy slices of avocado all melded together with cheese. My mouth was exploding from the deliciousness. If you haven't stopped by this place, make sure you do. You won't be disappointed. read more

Do not order from this place . I placed an order thru door dash and a few things were wrong. My hamburger was completely raw inside and i asked for onion rings and got fries. Then i paid $3.00 for an Arnold Palmer and got this , i guess this is $3.00 dollars worth. I also ordered a regular coke and got a Diet Coke. read more

Mhm !! I loved the Philly cheesesteak from this place. This was my first visit to this place. My boyfriend and I decided to stop for food on our way out of Monterey. This place had a high review so we stopped by. I must say it was veggie delirious and I appreciate the lady at the front allowing to me to substitute chicken instead of steak since I don't eat red meat. The chicken was real and not boxed ! The bread was soft and the fries went with it perfectly ! My boyfriend had the seafood pasta and he loved it !! He didn't care for the garlic bread which is typically not him so that must've been kind of bad! But everything else was very good ! To top it off we didn't eat in the restaurant it was too cold so we ate in the car and they still allowed us to come in and use the bathroom before we hit the road. Stopped in for breakfast. Nice place, friendly staff, fast service. Portions are big - had a blueberry pancake short stack and it was bigger than my head. The breakfast sausage links were a tad overcooked, but overall a good meal. You like Eggs Benedict? They have several kinds to choose from. I'm pretty disappointed in this place because I like some of their basic foods and the atmosphere, but I've been there twice now and they had two major fails: 1) Full breakfast with chicken fried steak. Wow, everything was so perfect: hot off the grill, great potatoes, great service....but a rubbery, low quality, obviously frozen chicken-fried steak. Ouch. 2) Fish and chips. Advertised as "Pacific Cod" and definitely not. I believe it was Rock Cod, which although perfectly fine, is NOT "cod" in the sense of classic fish and chips. Good sized portion, OK fish quality, and even good batter, but somehow they ended up with a slightly soggy, slightly cold, rubbery crust. I seemed like they cooked it just right, took it out of the fryer, and then placed a metal pot over it for 10 min to let it steam and get soggy. So close...but definitely no cigar. Fries were a C-. Teeny tiny slaw was an A-. Extra point for the guava juice. read more

My pancakes came out without the blueberries that I ordered and she happily gave the pancakes to my husband and ordered the kitchen to make new pancakes. She then brought out extra syrup for us without being asked to do so. Extra points for offering to give us coffee to go. Yum yum yum. Had the French onion soup. It was rich and delicious. For din din I had the pasta carbonara and my family members had the fried chicken and the bondie burger. Everyone was super happy with their meals. Our server was awesome. Very friendly and on top of things. What I really appreciated was our server noticed my 2 year old was hangry. He over heard me ask if he wanted the chicken nuggets and when my toddler said ya the server said he'd get that right in. We hadn't even really had a chance to sit down. We really enjoyed our lunch here today. Everything was super tasty. friendly, attentive service. clean little diner. 2 of us had the fried chicken and another had a burger. You can get soup, salad or fries with the burger, my daughter opted for the fries and they were so yummy, hot, crispy and well seasoned. The chicken was crispy and juicy. My husband ordered the "Haileys Combo" which had any egg style, choice of pancakes or French toast, any choices of 2 bacon, 2 sausages, veggies or ham. Since my last review, this has become our go-to restaurant when we have friends in town, or when we can't decide what to eat. There is something for everyone, even picky eaters and kids. Service is always friendly and prompt, the place is always clean, we learned they are very kid friendly, and the food never disappoints. I have now tried many of their offerings and literally the only one that wasn't delicious (it was eh) was a seafood pasta dish. Their burgers are tasty, salads are great, soups have all been good, creamy pesto is wonderful, all their chicken dishes have been great (though occasionally there will be the chewy part of the cartilage or something on some pieces), meatloaf and meatballs are good, their gravy and mashed potatoes are to die for, desserts are yummy. Overall, you really cannot go wrong here. Oldies music is always playing (now Christmas music because it's December) and I love it. The only thing I don't love is their parking lot, which sometimes gets packed even when the restaurant isn't too crowded. Lunch time is also MUCH busier here during the week, so be prepared for a little slower of an experience. Definitely give this place a try if you want upscale diner food with options for everyone at decent prices in a nice atmosphere. read more

My sand dabs were very oily, the rice tasted like plastic. I had asked for alternative creamer for coffee but the waitress said they only had half and half which was fine. When I got up to pay I saw soy milk in their fridge. I asked a waiter and he said they also had almond milk. Found it a bit rude that the waitress didn't want to offer soy or almond milk for coffee. The waiter was nice and apologized for the oily sand dabs and lack of service. Won't be returning. read more

Great location but with minimum parking. Service I was fast and friendly. I ordered the calamari steak with rice and veggies. Rice and veggies tasted and were cooked Amazing. The calamari steak was a tad over cooked and the peppercorn sauce was somewhat bland. Overall not a bad entree. read more

I came across this joint by accident some months ago and, feeling hungry en route to Monterey, decided to stop in again for lunch. I love the classic diner feel and the architectural style, it's an interesting space to be in. It can also be pretty loud, though, as it was on this visit. Service took awhile: the hostess was on the phone when we arrived (and we waited a full 5 minutes to be acknowledged), and once we were seated there was a big party that kept our waitress busy at the other side of the restaurant. The menu has a ton of great options, it's big but not too big, and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For lunch I ordered a tuna melt with a side salad. The melt was really buttery on the outside and had a great crunch. The cheese was melted around the sides somewhat but not on top, so it ended up being a bit of an in-betweener. I asked for the salad dressing on the side and consequently the salad ended up being completely dry - would've been nice if it had been washed again just so it wasn't so chalky. My husband got the Frikadeller - Danish meatballs, in gravy with mashed potatoes and red cabbage, which was very good. It's nice to see some different fare like this on a diner menu from time to time. Not the best visit, but I enjoyed it the first time we came so I'll definitely keep it in mind next time we're in the area. read more

Delicious brunch after a long run. I'm training for the Golden Gate Half Marathon and decided to run the entire Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, which begins close to the location of this restaurant. Well, after working up an appetite this place was a great to unwind and refuel. My choice of mimosa may not have been the best for athlete nutrition but I thought i deserved it. The breakfast super burrito with scrambled eggs, veggies, avocado, and cheese was served with Google fries and wheat toast. The toast was served with an amazing blue(?)berry jam. I wish they sold the jam in jars to take home. Googie fries are home fries. And the menu explained what the word Googie is, which is the post WW2 era of post-modern design and space travel. The decor was an updated version of this. Total hip diner vibe. Oh, and my server was wonderful. She reminded me of a close friend. I love good people. When Googies first started out they were amazing, but now they have been going downhill for the past year or so. Staff talks very low, they are incredibly slow, and the food is equivalent to what you get at Denny's. It's really a shame since we used to come to this place frequently. We ordered through grubhub. This is our first time trying their food. The food was good, especially their onion soup! My husband got a beef stroganoff, it was on point! Crab cake is good too, it needs a little more sauce. However, the reason why I give 4 stars because my chicken linguini is bland. I wish they would put more seasoning on the pasta sauce and the chicken. But, that won't stop us from going back to Googie Grill. Will definitely order again and try different options! read more

Found this place while staying in town for a few days. It's a gem! Food was great, finally a place that knows how to poach an egg properly, extra points for that. Decent portions to start your day off with. Coffee was good which is really important when eating breakfast. Waitress was very kind and made sure we were always taken care of. It's a small place on the corner, you can miss it. I know that I did. I will be stopping by here when I am back in town. read more
