I know everyone loves Goody's, I know it's an establishment here in Bend, but come on. Today's service was the worst ever (besides the one time I forgot my jacket there and ran back to see a server wearing it, but that's another story). It's still COVID, but my mom and I walked in as a few others were just finishing up. We were helped quickly enough, but the scooping service for the ice cream was AWFUL. It started when the scooper used the wrong cone and I asked for the cone I paid for. Instead of doing the right thing, the scooper and shift lead (?) both manhandled my scoop of brownie batter into the right cone, then dumped it in bowl. It was more than soft- it was downright melted at this point after the two of them trying to get the ice cream from the one cone to the other. Additionally, I ordered a cone so I could eat it and walk while pushing my stroller. So them dumping it in a bowl made me unable to enjoy it until we found a stopping point. My mom even asked them to start over and they just kept trying to shake and pull the ice cream out of the original cone. All this was happening while a line out the store was forming. It was horrible. Today was the first warm day and also a Saturday, but they needed to do the right thing for the customer. If they had just started over, it would have been so much faster, and I would have been so much happier, instead, I'm writing this review. I likely won't be back the next time we are in Bend. read more

Goody's was expectedly packed on a sunny Sunday evening, with a line out the door. Based on the smell of freshly-made waffle cones wafting out onto the street, however, we decided it would be worth the wait! I think the young staff was overwhelmed by the crowds, but they all had great attitudes regardless. When we got to the register, we sampled a couple flavors and ultimately went with a large brownie batter ice cream shake blended with one scoop of eggless cookie dough (a new addition to the menu). YUM! I can't recall exactly how much the shake cost, but it was worth every penny. It was also fun to sip on while sitting at the counter. Such a cute, old-fashioned place! Will definitely return on our next Bend trip to try some chocolates. read more

We passed by this place after lunch and new we had to stop in the check it out. It's a really cute place. It's like those old fashion ice cream and soda parlors. My Mom and I ended up getting some ice cream. We tasted a couple of their flavors first before choosing what we wanted. The girl behind the counter was really helpful. My Mom got the marionberry ice cream in a cone and I got their chocolate almond ice cream in a sugar cone. I also got an extra bowl and spoon for my ice cream because it was topped off so high and guaranteed to melt. I put some of my ice cream in the bowl and gave that to my Dad. The chocolate almond ice cream was delicious. I normally don't like almonds in my ice cream because they can get really hard, but these almonds were soft and easy to eat. I have no idea how they did that, but it was really good. I also got an extra spoon to eat the rest of my ice cream in the bowl when my Dad was done. My Mom loved their marionberry ice cream. This place was really cool, I might come here again before we leave Bend. read more

Three stars are allllllll for the sweet as pie employee who helped us out. They were lovely and friendly. I bought some chocolates, but what gobsmacked me was the price on my receipt for an ice cream cone with a double scoop $6.50! Can't remember quite how much, but I think the milkshake we ordered was even more. Maybe I'm cheap, and I can live with that. The ice cream was alright, but man, it's no Tillamook, but they beat Tillamook Cheese Factory in cost. read more

We stopped in for an ice cream treat. I e tried scoops and shakes. The ice cream is bland and not sweet at all. My 5 year old wouldn't even eat it. And he is not like that. While roaming downtown Bend on this lovely summer Sunday afternoon, I saw a line of people and to my delightful surprise, all this commotion was over homemade ice cream!!! I had a single scoop of chocolate almond topped with Marion berry (Oregon's berry), whipped cream and crushed almonds served in a glass ice cream cup; totally old school. For less than $6 you get 3 scoops of ice cream(any flavor combinations of your choice), 3 toppings plus whipped cream, nuts and a cherry on top. Wooo that's a whole lot of yumminess on one plate! The sundaes are good; in fact, the maple bacon sundae is worth having, but-for the most part-it wasn't what I expected. It may be a matter of personal preference or what you happen to order. I would suggest going in and trying a regular cone so you can better taste the ice cream and not all the flavoing that may work better. read more

Ice cream is my drug of choice so we always stop into Goody's when we are in town. If your in the mood for a sundae they have everything from smores, to turtle to maple bacon on the menu. Just looking for a scoop? Get one in a waffle cone, they fold the bottom in like an envelope so you don't end up with any dripping out the bottom. I will say they don't have the best candy selection, that prize goes to Powell's down the street but they do ice cream and they do it very well. read more

I had heard so many good things about Goody's downtown that I made a special trip just to try it out. We had a couple of the chocolate treats and they were very good. I got in line behind two other customers. There were SIX employees there. One was taking orders, working the register, and putting together the candy orders. One was wiping the counters, and the other four all stood behind the counter looking at us as we waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken. If one of them wasn't going to start up the second register that sat unused, I at least wish they could have started our order, which took another 10 minutes to receive. I love their ice cream and cookie dough but they always close before 10. Their website says they close at 10 but we have gone multiple times, including tonight at 9:30 and they have locked the doors and shake their heads at us saying they are closed. If they have winter hours still that's fine, just wish they would update their hours on the website or google. read more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Goody's!!! I remember going as a child, and I don't think it's changed very much...which is a great thing! Homemade ice cream that's delectable, they actually know how to make an old fashioned ice cream soda (and it's phenomenal...a must have whenever I get to Bend), walls of candy in cool old timey jars, homemade yummy caramel corn.... And they have stuffed animals and other gifts. I remember my parents buying me at least one animal there when I was small. I love the soda shop vibe and the atmosphere, and I've never had a bad expereince...in 20-some years of going. It's been fun introducing my husband and now my kids to this lovely experience. There is also a location in Sun River and one over by Whole Foods. The more the merrier! My only critique is that I'm not a big fan of their chocolates. But my family likes them, I'm VERY picky in that area, and their caramels are to die for. read more

Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. And to think I almost didn't have any because it was 20 degrees outside. We were at a local resort and just wandering downtown Bend and stumbled into this place. So good I made the entire family go to the one in Redmond two days later on the way back to Portland. The chocolate was delicious. The cookies n creme was awesome, plenty of Oreo cookie pieces. Marrionberry ice cream and sorbet were yummy. All served in homemade waffle cones! We visit Bend once a year and always stop at Goody's. The service is always friendly and the ice cream, whether on a cone or in a sundae, is always yummo. They don't offer a lot of flavors like the bigger chains, but what they do offer is made with quality ingredients. Prices are extremely reasonable and portions are generous. They also make phosphate sodas, have their own candy counter and even stuffed animals. I wouldn't say the candy is amazing, but it isn't too bad. The one thing I do love is their marionberry creams. Apparently, marionberries are only grown in Oregon and I know that I've never seen marionberry candy outside of Oregon. If you're in the area, give Goody's a try. read more

How can you resist walking into Goody's?!! The smell of their freshly made waffle cones and dishes is intoxicating! I was disappointed in their ice cream selection (they only had about 10 choices). Went here while vacationing in Sunriver. The ice cream was really, really good. I got strawberry and vanilla on a cone. Yes, like a previous reviewer said, the single scoop is $2.75 and double is a little less than $5 but the other reviewer failed to mention that the scoops are freakin' HUGE! I mean...HUGE! It may have been "only" two scoops but it was more like four scoops in actuality. We're not talking little Baskin-Robbins sissy sized scoops here, we're talking Clifford the Big Red Dog sized scoops. $5 for two scoops of homemade icecream is well worth it. The one reason I give the place 4 stars is because of the cleanliness factor. The floors and tables were dirty. The floors were sticky from ice cream that had fallen on the floor, been stepped on, smeared, and mixed with dirt. The tables were sticky and not very clean. I understand that this place is busy but it would go a long way to hire someone who's main responsibility is housekeeping during business hours. The other thing that bugged me was the number of flies in the place. They were buzzing about quite a bit. And as the freshly made waffle cones sat on the preparation table cooling I couldn't help but get a little skeeved out as the flies landed on the cones and then flew away. We visited this location in August weeks after a visit to the Boise, ID location expecting the same experience. Sadly, these locations are vastly different in customer service and quality of the ice cream. See my review of the Boise, ID location. I had a very forgettable coffee flavored ice cream and the waffle cone was stale. My wife had the cookie dough which had about 2 pieces in her entire scoop. There are many, many simple ways to portion out cookie dough pieces if you are at least motivated as a business. Customer service was odd. The 2 young people behind the counter seemed put out and impatient with the task of filing out our order as a family, but were eager to give at least 3 people coming in for ice water in a cup for free with no tip. My advice to the owner's Goody's in Bend: use the recipes from the Boise location and work on your customer service. read more

I rate this 2 and 1/2 stars, because they didn't have bananas for my wife's Sunday, they gave me a paper cup for a soda malt. Not very customer frinedly. I come here several times EACH Central OR visit. Love the homemade milkshakes. Nice and thick. And the Carmel corn made fresh daily, ohhhh my!!!! Always great service and a downtown favorite. They even pulled my fav flavor out of the back (coconut) and gave me a special scoop. I begged cuz I'm out of town, so great of them! read more

This has always been a must-do when we go to Bend. This year, the service was horrible! The girl acted annoyed that we ordered more than one item, we were SHOCKED! We couldn't wait to get out of there, we felt so unwelcome! We loved the ice cream AND chocolates AND caramel corn, but the visit left a horrible taste in our mouth. We'll have second thoughts before we stop in again. Goodies, you need to train your employees to at least act like they want to help you. read more
