Normally we love Goodys! We usually go to the sunriver location when we stay there. We were about 40 miles away from Bend so we drove over so the small human could get ice cream. This place is fun having two kids, one still being a kid and the other one starting to be a teen. It's always hard to find a common ground when we're on little family vacations and get a ways. Now you can imagine the candy stores always gonna go great doesn't matter if you're two or 102 you're gonna like it... Has some really cute spots in it I mean the little movie theater they have built in there with just every kind of movie theater candy around it. Absolutely amazing. The bulk bins back in full force bunch of foreign candies, which is always cool to be able to find without having to go out of the way. Always let the kids pick out a few different things each and they never disappoints always something new sometimes somethings so old I remember getting them when I was begging for candy at their age it's a must stop. Visiting Bend, stopping at Goody's is a must. The kids love the new candy more than the antique candy in jars. We got the root beer float and hot chocolate. The root beer float wasn't very good because the soda was room temperature. I wished it had been cold or at least they put ice in the soda. The hot chocolate was good though. Service was good, the workers were pleasant but very quiet. Thought I heard a baby crying somewhere in the back. Seems like a family run store. The inside is very retro looking. Not many seats inside but on a nice day, the park down the street would be a great place to hang out. read more

Admittedly, we have a problem. We've been here two nights in a row and will probably be back tomorrow. Oreo cookie and Cookie Monster ice cream flavors will change you like your first real love changes you. If you aren't fortunate enough to live in Bend, you will have to break up and it will break your heart. For now, our love burns hot . . . or, rather, cold. Edit: We returned for night 3. Goody's is a really great little ice cream and candy shop. They have a factory in town and make their own popcorn, ice cream and chocolates. The ice cream was very good, we tried a few flavors including the cookie monster (oreos, cookie dough in blue vanilla ice cream) which the kids loved. The brownie batter was excellent, better than other versions I've had. The oreo was good but could have used more oreos. The chocolate hazelnut was good as well. The popcorn options are quite fun and since they make it here in town it is fresh. We went with the oreo flavor and it was ridiculously addictive. I couldn't stop eating it. They coat the popcorn in a clear coating and some white chocolate and then coat it with real chunks of oreo. Man oh man. The chocolate options looked good but we didn't have room left for them. The staff were great, let us try as much as we wanted and told us all about the process for making the popcorn. We'll be back! read more

Goody's seems like an institution in Bend so on a sunny day while we were in town we had to stop by. The downtown location got pretty busy in the afternoon and there were around 5 groups ahead of us. I will say come in when it's not busy or if you have more time since the staff was pretty swamped and ordering took closer to 15-20 mins to get our two milkshakes. I didn't order any of their candy/chocolates this visit but instead opted to get two milkshakes (oreo and brownie batter). $8 a milkshake is not the cheapest around but I thought the portion size and the density of the shake was worth it. I definitely like my shakes less runny so these were great, but definitely more of a spoon shake vs. using a straw to enjoy. They did take a little longer to get than other ice cream shops but I enjoyed both milkshake flavors. Cookie monster also seemed like a favorite that many people were ordering so I might come try it next time i'm in town. read more

Delicious and fresh ice cream. A single is really two scoops for $4.50. I had the marionberry and Oreo. Both are delicious. The marionberry included the entire berry in the ice cream. Homemade ice cream (about 10 flavors to choose from) and a single scoop costs $2.75. Ouch! They have so many other treats to choose from -- popcorn, lollipops (the enormous swirled kind), truffles and other sweets are piled up in the display case and the wall behind the counter is lined with glass jars filled with hundreds of types of candies. Whenever I'm in this store, I always wish they'd take it to the next level. It is a bit dingy and it isn't sparkling and modern or that old fashioned but super cute kinda store either. Looking for smoothies, we happened to end up here. There was no one in the store so I ask the employee if I can take one their menu outside to look over as we had a dog with us as well. She was very nice and kind and was very pleasant to converse with. We ended up ordering the fishbowl, mint milkshake, a scoop of Oreo cookie ice cream, and the green river. The fishbowl is a soda made with blue raspberry and lime syrup with a gummy shark in it. It was cool but really sweet. The Green River is made with lime Italian syrup and gives it a really cool green color to it. Kids like the ice cream and shakes. We were super thirsty so I didn't even notice the chocolates. After I placed my orders, there were 3 other parties that came in. All of sudden, its shift change. The person who took my order went to the back and took off her apron and off she went.....the 2 new staff members that showed up had to finish my order. It was confusing and they never said anything... I'm sorry but the person who was off on the side as the lead? or manager just stood there and watch. We were looking for a real ice cream shop where we could buy gourmet ice cream. Finding Goody's Soda Fountain & Candy Store was one of those GPS adventures. After walking around the block where our GPS told us to look, we spotted the store across the street. We were impressed with the old school ambiance. There was a family ahead of us, so we walked around the store looking at everything. The family was picking an assortment of chocolates, one chocolate at a time. I was impressed with the patience displayed by young lady assisting the family. She was the only person we saw behind the counter. By the time she had finished with the family's chocolates, were had decided on our ice cream choices. She quickly prepared our sundaes and indicated that there was a bench outside the store where we could enjoy the sundaes. There are no seats in the store. The sundaes were good. The ice cream sundae was a blast. They served generous portions with a thin and crispy waffle style cup-shape dish. The flavors were very tasty and the ice cream was creamy. It is nice that you can sit inside at the bar style stools or basic tables and the menu certainly offers an extensive choices. I want to go back to try the shakes. Watching them piling in the scoops made me feel like I wish I had room for more sweets. The location is right in the heart of old town Bend and definitely a must stop in the afternoon or after dinner snack. I really wanted to love this place. The girls and guy working the night we came in were so sweet. The atmosphere is so cute and straight out of the 50's. But the chocolates and ice cream were just ok. I got a brownie sundae and the brownie was hard. The hot fudge was very sweet and wasn't warm but was more like this thick, cold glue-y consistency that you had to bite off your spoon with your teeth. The ice cream was ok- nothing to write home about. My friend got the chocolate chip cookie dough which was also average. I bought a few chocolates which tasted kind of waxy too.
