Very hostile female workers behind the table. My friend wanted to order few breads for lunch and they ignored us. When someone finally take our order, she called another worker to stand next to her and they got angry at us for standing in line for a long time. No one was helping or fulfilling our order. I'm a bigger fan of the one on 8th ave, but this one is pretty alright. Once you get there, go to the pick up window and provide the number given. Most of the time, they'll have your phone order ready in 10 minutes. The chicken rice rolls are good. They gave a good amount of chicken and the rice rolls were so soft. The beef brisket chun fun was delicious. The spare ribs with rice is my all time favorite. When I'm around the area, I'll try to get myself something from this bakery. Be warn, the workers can get pretty loud. I love this place. I used to come here a lot when I lived in the area, especially during the weekends and sometimes before going to work. This place gets packed in the morning everyday so beware if you're going before work as the line can be out the doors. It's a small space, not very clean inside but that's kinda normal for small Chinese spots like this. They have only 4 tables with 4 seats each so not very many spots to sit and eat. The reason I love this spot is cause it's CHEAP! Most of the baked goods are about $1 and the breakfast foods are only a few dollars and they give you a good amount for the value! Just beware for some of the breakfast foods like the mei fun and congee do run out around close to the afternoon. They have a big menu and offer a good variety of foods and drinks. Oh and I think the food is really good! But that's just me, I've never had an issue. This bakery is right outside of 79th Street D train station and is definitely one of my favorite bakeries. Their iced coffee is one of best (in terms in bakery quality and price: $1.75) and their buns are mostly in the one dollar range. My favorite food to order is their freshly made cherng fun(rice noodle), which you can order to be freshly made during all hours of the day. Most bakeries only make rice noodles in the morning, but this place makes each order individually on the spot, guaranteeing deliciousness and quality for only ~2 dollars! The one star deduction is due to the service. Like many other people have mentioned, their main focus is to get you in and out PRONTO, so they may come across as rude. Also, this place gets PACKED during morning hours and after school (since it is right across the street from New Utrecht High School). My family has been here at least 100 times. It's convenient and has a large selection and is relatively cheap. Here's a brief history of this place: Started off with an A sanitary rating, then dropped to a C for a while and tried to hide their rating. Now it is an A again, but they leave the sidewalk trashed and what used to be a "good view" even inside the bakery, they now have signs everywhere. My brother and my parents come here at least once a week after school, and he uses the bathroom pretty much every time. However, today, my brother needed to in a particular bout of emergency, but the employees were SEVERELY adamant against it. My protests did not work, even after my iniialstruggles to get their attention. "Okay," you might say, "but the bathroom door says 'Employees Only.'" Alright, but imagine how misleading it is that the past 40+ times, they've let us use it and this time they won't? And for children, most places would make an exception, especially when I told them I'd make a purchase, as we always do. Luckily my younger brother was allowed to use the bathroom at an Asian restaurant diagonally across the street. This place always has a long line, so I strongly suggest going to the Chinese bakery that existed before this one, ~3 stores down which never has a long line. However, that place doesn't have ice cream or Portuguese tarts, if that's your thing. Also now that I think of it, Good View Bakery has always had impatient, not compassionate employees. UPDATE: 3 star review now, because even though they're still only a fraction of how they were when they opened (clean, uncluttered), I'm hella impressed that they have many fresh fruit options for drinks in January! If you're looking to order dimsum, definitely give them a call in advance (especially on the weekends). This way they don't run out of things that you actually want AND you can skip the line. People line up super early here. Cops waiting to buy steamed pork buns, older Chinese men hanging out at the tables shooting the breeze. I want to try everything each time I go. I really enjoy the cheung fan/rice noodle roll with egg. Pour on some soy sauce and you're in heaven. Fortunately my fiancé is Cantonese so I let her do the ordering in her native tongue. As you can see below, we ordered a sampling of the more typical dim sum items. All were pretty great with the exception of the fish cakes, which tasted a bit bland. My favorite would have to be the vegetable and pork steamed bun. It had really nice scallion pork flavor. There are many dim sum bakeries popping up throughout Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights, so I enjoy sampling them in order to determine which one has the better items. I love this bakery! I often rotate between this and Mei Mei's next door and they're both phenomenal in their own aspects. This place has cheap and tasty rice boxes and bubble milk tea! This is a nice bakery will a lot of selections of food and drinks. I mainly order the dim sum dishes on the weekend when I have more time to spare. During the work week, I just order a quick hot/cold milk tea and a bun. I have no complaints with the food or drinks. My main issue with this place is the service. The workers are extremely slow to take your order or too "busy" to acknowledge you or the line of patrons waiting. There are a minimum of 3-4 workers in the morning, it really shouldn't take long for them to take your order. I shouldn't have to wait 10 -15 mins (this is a long time considering other bakery's efficiency) in line to order my food. The only time the workers seems to be faster is when the boss lady is around. They'll take your order right away. Boss lady, I hope you see this. This was a random stop off the 79th street exit in deepest darkest Brooklyn. A decent place to stop that carries breakfast food for non Chinese and all the common bakery stuffs the Chinese folk will find familiar. Dropped in at like noon on Saturday to grab a few dim sum items for a snack. Ordered up a couple of rice noodles stuffed with shrimp, which they made fresh, and a couple of steamed pork buns. A non-conventional Chinese bakery. Whereas most bakeries serve only things like hotdog buns, golden buns and pork buns, Good View offers other breakfast items, like crepes. The food is good, nothing special. The service does need a little work though, albeit you can't really completely blame the workers, as the customers are just as bad. Line cutting happens often and the workers don't really curtail it. Being one of the few Asian bakeries in the area, and right by the train station, probably a safe bet on the way to work. I really like their products, prices & location. First thing you see when you hop off the D train's 79th St stop and they are very bright and well-lit, definitely an inviting interior. . I ordered myself a hot milk tea ($0.80) & their chicken chow mein ($1.50), but ended up with only the hot milk tea since they said that their chicken chow mein today was made with their barbecued pork so I decided to opt out.
