This was the only place I can find who would make a car key for me without the chip. When I arrived the man said that it was be $7 per key made. I told him that when I had called and spoke to a different person, he quoted me $5 per key. Wrong, wrong, wrong! I couldn't have been more wrong about Mike. First time at Good Lock I saw this stern, impersonal looking man; we said a few words and he had as much warmth as a block of ice. But because they're so close to my house and made quality keys (there is a difference btw), I kept coming back. Fast forward to an emergency situation where I locked myself and my son out of the house I called Good Lock. And much to my dismay, iceman Mike pulled up in his van... He looked at the non-standard lock, fixed the misaligned internal parts (that I wasn't even aware of) and made a clean new key. So while he was working we got to talking and I learned more about him and his wife, he charged me what he quoted despite the unexpected issues. My Baldwin exterior handset stopped working -- I couldn't open my front door. I disassembled what I could and still couldn't get it to open. He came out the next morning, said this is an issue with these locks. He gently broke the lock out, replaced the handset with a duplicate one that I got at Home Depot, rekeyed it to my old key and was done. Total time... 10 minutes! Super reasonable price, too. Had to have my car towed due to my car key not able to start the car; wouldn't even turn, and seemed quite "sticky" as pulling key out of ignition was an issue as well, causing key case to break apart. Note to self: when replacing a car key case, be certain the quality is solid, otherwise in situations like this the key will fall apart. Checked on Yelp to look for locksmiths in the area that work on cars. Good Lock & Key replied with not only a good deal, but also with a lot of solid reviews. Mike came by to look at my vehicle's ignition key. After moments trying to make it work out, he informs that he would need to bring ignition and key back to the shop, to not only repair the ignition but change out the case for the key. Mike returned, with everything ready to go, but informed that he did not see a chip in the key, which is required for high security keys issued by Honda. I mentioned to him I know about the chip, as this key case is an aftermarket. After a little back and forth, he said he has another key with a chip that he can have work for the car, I said let's go for it. 5 minutes later, I have not only repaired ignition, but also a whole new key that replaced my old one (do have to note that not only was key case in pieces, but the teeth on the key were really worn down, perhaps contributing to the ignition needing repair.) All said and done, everything done by Mike of Good Lock & Key was satisfactory, professionally handled, and efficient.
